I also vote for the patio before it gets too hot to work on it and enjoy it. We named our momma mourning dove Rita after the poet Rita Dove. The parents return to the next again and again, sometimes have more than one litter a year ❣️
oh, definitely option number one! Get that patio done so you can sit out there at the end of each day and peacefully reflect upon what you got done each day and what your goals are for the next day. A peaceful, calm place to land to reflect, refresh, regroup and relax. and a fresh place to start each day.
I think the sunroom would be a great place to start. It’ll give you an area to chill but also good for summer time activities and you can even do some other projects in there while the rest of the house comes together. Either way, I just like to see what you’re up to so whatever you choose to do and to share with us is fine by me (: lol
Oh Em. I actually got teary eyed watching you hang clothes. I went to Ohio a few years ago to see my grandmothers house and found her clothesline in the trees like you did. I wanted so badly to bring it back to Michigan! And I think the daylilies and lilacs were planted there on purpose! What a beautiful yard
I'd love to see the porch, I'd love a closed in porch or sunroom, it's been on my wish list forever, but really I enjoy your vlogs and am happy to see whatever you'd care to share.
I love the clothesline! We had one like this when I was a wee child. I use one that has lots of lines and rotates. I LOVE our clothesline! The fresh smell of clothes on a line has no comparison.
Since the weather is nice now I think you should tackle the sun room next. That way you can enjoy it while it's nice outside. And I 100% agree with you that there's nothing better than line dried laundry! I live in Florida and I can use my clothesline all year and I love it!
This place gives me so much JOY! :D You are a fairytale princess and now you even have your raccoon sidekick! Whatever project you tackle next, I'm here for it!
Hi Emily!Laura here, I think it would be fun to write down your projects put them in a jar or hat and pick one! Love the clothesline I bet your clothes smell so fresh I love a bed with clean sheets! Line dried sheets would be heavenly!
The wildlife factor has really upgraded your outdoor space. How fun to watch and share your outdoor space with the critters. The indoor spiders could go though. LOL

Emily, just a note. Once you start to feed the birds you have to fill it everyday. They will empty it everyday. They look forward to it. Hope the cat doesn’t attack the birds. Love how your place is coming together. The clothesline reminds me when I used to help my mom and grandmother take the clothes off the line. Loved the fresh sheets! If you really have problems with spiders you also might want Home Defense to spray around the outside of your doors and windows. They do come in thru window frames too. It works great. Hope this helps you. Your southern Michigan neighbor!🥰👍💜
Hi Sharon! So far I have to fill it up four days later but yes they did go through it fast 😂 the feeder is up really high and I haven’t seen the cat do anything but eat my food so that’s good. Thanks for your tips ☺️
So much happening! Clothesline, kitty, baby bird, racoon, garage finds, ... Raccoons are so cute! Naughty, but cute. I would clean the sun porch, then finish unpacking. Great idea to use the found screen/divider to brighten up the living room. 😊
Oh honey! I'm so happy for you! The house is AMAZING, and it has my favorite "old" vibe, too! The garden, the clothesline, the birds, the wild critters makes it a Dream Place!!! Enjoy Emily!! PS I still use my clothesline too, but we are having to get new lines since ours was hit by a pecan tree that fell during a storm! Did you know that the inside lines are for your "dainties?" I learned that the hard way when I was a younger married thing! Lol 😂 OXOX

Hi! I think any outdoor projects would be the best place to start. Also, tip for maximizing the clotheslines capacity...I use old, men's suit jacket hangers to dry my dresses, blouses and tees. The larger, built up hanger keeps the shoulders nice yet I can fit so much more on the line. Also, the panelling in your new home is a lovely canvas for all your colourful treasures :)
Thanks for your input I think I’m leaning in the screened patio direction since then I can enjoy it during the summer 😄 omg GREAT IDEA Ill have to keep my eyes peeled for those kinds of hangers!
Hi Emily! I think you should finish the porch first so you have a nice sitting area to rest, and then go to unpacking decorations because then you can use some of the decor to decorate the porch! That way you have an area that you can really enjoy 😊
Late to watching this…my vote is for the sun porch. Or what ever would be fastest to give you one finished space to help relax and motivate you? Looking forward to watching your next videos!
I can appreciate your enjoying the clothesline but I really like my electric dryer. The last time I used a clothesline, two large snakes made their appearance and I lost my appreciation for the line. Those lilac bushes are great and your dress looked so cute! I like seeing your decorating results because your screened porch looks so cute! Raccoons are cute but such ornery critters. I have Ring cameras and caught one this week checking out the new wind chimes I put on my porch.
@@emilyretro just remember you only get so many months of warmth outdoors to enjoy. I would push off sewing for during colder months indoors. It’s all about balance & finding what works best for you 💕✂️ our sewing projects will always be there. 😂
Hey Emily! (It’s me Jeanie from Minnesota) So nice of your dad to come help get your clothesline up and running. I love hearing all the birds around . You found some real treasures. I would love to see you do the sunroom next. Becky seems like a great friend. That’s so awesome you are still hanging out together.
Hmmm, I think if it were me, I would tackle the outside first. That way I could get as much use of my outside space as possible while the weather is still nice
Watch the racoon! They can be very destructive. My neighbor used to feed them on their deck and they would bring over the babies. So cute! Unfortunately, they got on the roof and scratched holes in the roof. Another friend had them in her attic and had to hire someone to remove them. Moving is so overwhelming. Try fixing up the bedroom, then the closet and bathroom. One room at a time. Your Dad is the best! Lucky girl to have him to help you!
Yes my dad is the greatest I feel very lucky! I won’t feed the raccoon since they can get dependent on the food and I wouldn’t want that to happen. But my bedroom should hopefully be done soon, good point suggesting that I totally forgot 😂
Girl! You on that step stool hanging the bird feeder made my hold my breath!! I would start with the patio so that you can enjoy it during the nice weather.
I came across your channel. I’m from Michigan too! I live in Alma and work in St. Louis. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life. Currently I’m off from work from neck surgery. If you love flea markets they have turfant flea market every Thursday and Isabella county fair grounds has one every Wednesday. If these places are close for you. I love your garden! My simple pleasure is planning my walk in a way that I pass the fragrant plants honeysuckle and jasmine mostly. I havent seen lilacs here I guess the climate is not suitable 😢 advise on what to do next: go one room /project by one. My priority would be to make my living spaces comfy and nice maybe only unpack your sheets from the sewing things? To haddon to the cosiness. I think the patio can wait a little longer but would be my next project. Then the kitchen as a project for when the rainy/colder days come. Then you've had plenty of time to think what you want to do. I'd prefer closed cupboards as there are creepy crawlies around. Maybe you can save for a groovy vinyl to stick on the doors? In a while you will know exactly what you need to lighten up the kitchen so it would definitely be my last project. Hope it helps ❤
I think you should start with the patio first, and I foresee Blossom hanging out with you there in the not too far out future :) I love seeing you brighten up that space , it feels totally meant to be that you should be there! What a transformation. Country life really seems to suit you :)

Speaking from someone who is STILL trying to organise her sewing room nearly 2 years of being in our house (yep another rental) id say go with the sewing room option..anyhoo gday from Canberra Australia 🇦🇺 🐨🦘🐨🦘
If you search spider repellent on RUclips, there is a mixture you can make of dish soap, water and mint oil that you can spray around areas that spiders could come in. They say they don’t like the mint smell.
Just had your video suggested and I think I'm going to love following your channel! Now to learn "all" about you and what your channel is about. Someone in the comments mentioned ADD. Do you have ADD? I do and I've enjoyed following fellow creative peeps as we learn how to live our best life. Your comment about struggling to make friends hit a chord with me. Phew, making friends is hard as an adult, isn't it? I miss the days of making new friends on the playground at school when it was mega easy.
Hi Erica! I do not have ADD, or at least I don’t think I do. Thanks for finding my channel 😄 yeah I miss making friends really easily too as a kid. But it’s getting easier making friend with practice. Best of luck to you 😄
Emily! "It's just from Looney Tunes" was my favorite line. 😄That raccoon is HUGE. They get into everything and have zero fear! 😂When I lived in the country we found one clinging to a window screen on the second floor. I came into the room, turned on the light and he HISSED through the open window at ME! As if I were upsetting HIM. 🙄 Also, I just wanted to put my two cents in about the giant maps: They are past their prime and need to go. Do we all love recycling? Yes! Do we all love vintage? Yes! Do sometimes things outlive their usefulness and it's ok to let them go? Yes! Don't feel bad about it. Your house has enough brown. I didn't even know they were maps when you first showed them! Too browned by age. And finally, I'm a Slytherin and my husband and most of my very best friends are all Hufflepuffs! 🦡🐍It's a well kept secret that our houses love each other!
HAHAHAHAHA I love raccoons they’re so cute!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 but seeing one on my second floor window would probably freak me out haha! Yeah I can’t get rid of the maps they’re literally built into the wall but I plan on covering them up while I’m here ☺️
Do the patio first.. then relax. Also be careful as raccoons are nocturnal and should be sleeping during daylight hours.(I think?) If they have rabies they will be awake in the daytime.
Raccoons love cat food. We have to take our feral cats’ food in at night because of raccoons and possums. Once they find it they will come back every night. You should only feed the cat during the day!
So happy your Dad recovered the clothesline for you! I have a tip for you. Plant some peppermint in that flower pot at the bottom of your steps & see if the raccoon stays away from the steps. If you plant peppermint in the flower beds like I did it’s extremely invasive & grows crazy massive & multiples. But in a pot it’s fine. Then rip off some leaves when it’s growing in the pit & just sprinkle peppermint leaves throughout your garden. It keeps spiders, ants, mice away from the house. I also make bundles of peppermint like bouquets & I place them in my garage & my attic to keep mice away. Full bouquets of chocolate mint, peppermint, lemon balm, & spearmint. Thanks for the night light tip. Mariaknits27 💃🏻💕🧵🧶📚☕️🏠

If you search spider repellent on RUclips, there is a mixture you can make of dish soap, water and mint oil that you can spray around areas that spiders could come in. They say they don’t like the mint smell.
That’s an awesome tip, thank you! 😄
Great progress! Regarding next project: could you remind me if house has AC? That would be an issue with me.
It does have AC thank goodness 😄
You could use the folding screen to cover the maps you don't like... ?😊
I actually have the yellow room divider that I got at a yard sale in front of it right now 😄
The room divider could also be used as a headboard.
That’s a cool idea ☺️
Best of luck to you 😄
Do the porch and vintage glider first. Then you have have a peaceful place to land, to sit and reflect on what you want to do next.
Great point ☺️
That is a chonky raccoon! 😂
YES WHAT A CHONK 🤣
Please show us when you have a yardsale......and how you price things
Yeah I can’t get rid of the maps they’re literally built into the wall but I plan on covering them up while I’m here ☺️
Ahh I'd love to find a house to just go through a hoard and find treasures! For free
Are you allowed to paint the paneling?
I am not so I’m embracing it! It’s very 70s looking anyway which I love
Are you going to hang vintage sheets over the map?
Yes I will! Eventually 😄
You totally trained that raccoon!!! Might want to reconsider the bird feeder too!!! Sorry!!!!
I don’t mind the raccoon coming around eating little scraps that get left on the ground. He deserves to eat too 🤷🏼♀️
I’d do the porch first.
Will do ☺️
Just take it one room at a time,
Good tip ☺️
Do the patio first.. then relax. Also be careful as raccoons are nocturnal and should be sleeping during daylight hours.(I think?) If they have rabies they will be awake in the daytime.
The raccoon was out right at sunset so I’m not worried ☺️
Raccoons love cat food. We have to take our feral cats’ food in at night because of raccoons and possums. Once they find it they will come back every night. You should only feed the cat during the day!
That’s what I do! He just grabs the few pieces that fall out of the bowl after the cat eats 😂
Work on the patio before the weather gets too hot!
Great point!!! It’s already 80 degrees today, I don’t want to be working outside once the summer hits!
Do the patio first.
Will do 😄
So happy your Dad recovered the clothesline for you!
