These comments about cracking are interesting to read as I now have a dozen Sailors in my collection and have not seen even a hairline fracture in any of them. The steel nib Shikiori Hisakatas regularly come with me in EDC and while traveling because they write beautifully. Puzzling. Now, my TWSBIs on the other hand ... Must look into Lennon Toolbar inks. That colour is gorgeous!
That’s great that your sailors are free from cracks! Of my sailor collection, 3 of 10 have cracks. Now, those three also happen to be my oldest sailors, from 2017-18. So, maybe they’ve improved? I honestly don’t know. I do still hear folks talk about their recently acquired pens cracking. They’re very small, hair line cracks that luckily don’t ruin the writing ability. But, considering the cost of these pens, and that I have many pens that are 100 years old crack free, it’s a little frustrating to say the least. And yet, I’m obviously still buying them. Hahah. It’s that love/hate relationship. Presently, I’m loving them more. 😂
Wow, what a cool idea for the gradient on the pen body! I got really caught up in collecting limited edition Sailors a few years ago and ended up with so many that I don't feel like I need more, but I love seeing all the new designs they come up with. None of mine have had any cracks even after daily use over a few years, thankfully. The ink is also gorgeous! I might have to get it. And your handwriting is as lovely as always!
I've actually never heard that Sailors tend to crack. I'll have to check my small collection. I have about 11 Sailors; I only know because they are in a 12-pen case. I've been happy with the build quality. I'm not as happy with the price increases, and Sailor pens are getting more and more out of reach.
I love Lennon Tool Bar, it is probably my favourite ink company. They are all so well behaved, and have such beautiful shading. I hope that it brings you joy in your beautiful new pen! Thank you for sharing!
This video comes at an interesting time for me, as I've come to terms with the fact just within the past few days that I am likely going to say goodbye to my Sailors and probably Sailor as a brand for good. I have tried so hard to love Sailor over the years, but I just do not like their signature feedback. Even after having multiple Sailor nibs tuned and smoothed by multiple nibmeisters, and trying to convince myself that I can live with it or force myself to admire the feedback, I just can't do it. It's been a somewhat disappointing journey, even though I love their unique colorways, and their 1911S is one of the most comfy pens I've written with. But! I'm glad you're liking your new Sailor, it's always a great feeling to wait out a bunch of limited editions for that extra special one. It makes the new pen even better, I think, to know you waited patiently for your particular pen. Enjoy your new pen and ink!!! 😊
My Pro Gear Slim (MF) was my first gold nib, so at first, it was amazing compared to the steel nibs I’d been using previously….but, I’ve since acquired a lot of other gold nib pens that I like more. One thing I’ve noticed is that the Pro Gear writes best with Sailor ink. Every other ink I’ve tried in it has been dry and disappointing. I feel I can resist all the great color pens they come out with - but, I would love to get Loch Ness Monster or Wicked Witch of the West, maybe with a wetter medium nib, just because I love the names of those pens!
I will say that the Sailor 21k nibs are much wetter than the Sailor 14k nibs. This one here is a very juicy writer, but is also the 21k. There are of course a lot of factors, but in general, my 21ks have been juicer nibs. I even have an extra fine 21k that is incredibly juicy! :o The colors are so alluring. It can be hard to resist!
So, am I right in thinking, this a Sailor Pro Gear, because it has a 21K nib? If I remember correctly the Pro Gear Slim have a 14K nib, right? How do you compare a Sailor 21K nib against a Sailor 14K nib? To hear, from several people, that they crack does make me hesitate, but they keep buying them, so there must be something to these pens :p! Hope you continue feeling better and better!
Thank you! I am feeling better! Still not 100%, but nearly there. I honestly can’t tell much of a difference between the two nibs. I used to think there was a little more bounce to the nib, but this one feels just like the 14k to me. And yeah, it’s a pro gear, a little bigger than the slim.
I own many Sailor pens. All of them are solid-colored or semi-transparent; I'm not partial to demonstrators. I've never experienced problems with cracking or other defects. I used a glitter ink once by accident, and it plugged my pen, so I shun glitter and shimmer inks. As far as I can remember, you've never tried a Benu pen. I'd like to see your opinion of them.
That’s great! Out of the 10 Sailors I have, three have cracks (very small). Those three happen to be my oldest though from 2017/18. I have tried Benu and I love them! In fact I made a video about a Benu pen at the beginning of the year. I own two now.
The Gradient colour body is really cool!!! I think nobody has really thought of this simple colour concept on a body of a pen!! Good job Sailor again!❤ Glad to see you are back doing colour swatches and writing samples again Alicia!!😅
Yeah! New fountain pen! Lovely pen. Thank you!
😃

My sailor pro gear old-fashioned cap cracked after about 2 years of daily journaling 🙃
I'm really glad you warned about Sailor pens cracking. You have saved me $300 +/-.
It is beautiful! I'll enjoy it vicariously through you.
You’re so welcome! It’s awful. I think sometimes we collectors just want to take the chance anyway. But it’s good to know what you’re getting into.
thats BS, if it were to crack just report to your seller.
And with the fountain pen there is less going to the landfill. Just a thought.
Absolutely 👍🏽

Gorgeous combo! I am always tempted by the Sailor pens but I haven’t yet taken the plunge. Maybe someday!
Sometimes it just takes the right one to encourage “the plunge.” ;)
Yesss! I'm glad you are making fountain pen and ink videos again!
Great! :D
Beautiful...and soo cool you have a bush outside right there!
I know! It’s so great!
Great combination of color, pen and ink!! Nicely coordinated! Attractive combination!!
Thank you so much!
It’s like this pen/ink combo was especially meant for you. Great review! 🧡
It’s so great when it feels that way!
What a beautiful pen and ink, Alicia!! That ink is perfect for your pen!!
I think so too!! So fun to find such a perfect match.
I love Lennon Tool Bar, it is probably my favourite ink company. They are all so well behaved, and have such beautiful shading. I hope that it brings you joy in your beautiful new pen! Thank you for sharing!
Oh that’s so great to hear! I think I’ll have to invest in some more in the future!
Those stencils are great! I love mine. The sailor is one of those pens I’ve not taken the dive into but they are beautiful!
I was just looking at this ink! It looks beautiful and so does the spice tea Sailor.
They’re both so beautiful! I think the sailor sheens more and the Lennon toolbar shades more, but they’re very similar in color.
I would love to have your voice on all my devices. So soothing and pleasant. :)
Aww thanks

Oooh 😍, such a beautiful combo. And yes, Sailor pens are so alluring. I had a pro gear mini and it was nice, but I am much happier with the nuts. 😁
Oh! I’m bummed I missed that release. What great colors!

Gorgeous pen & ink ❤
I think so too!
Very pretty 💕
Lennon Tool Bar is a fav ❤️ and wolfberry is so beautiful
I’m so excited to be trying out new inks! I’ve not tried them before. Excited to try more in the future.

Sailor💙
Cracks means, sailor pmma resin body damage easily?
I don’t think you could have picked a better color ink to match your pen 🙌🏻
It really is a match made in heaven!
How exciting! Is that the canvas light? If so how are you liking it?
Yes, it’s the canvas light! Game changer!!! I’ve been loving every bit of it.
Sailor!
😃
Thanks for letting us know that Sailor pens crack easily 😣
I won't spend 400 dollars on this brand now 🙄
Great hermosa greetings Froom colombia south america

Beautiful pen - but out of my budget 😢
