I am relatively new to fountain pens (1.5 years) and I enjoyed your list of pen and ink mates.😊 There is something romantic about ink bottles when ink runs low and you can see the glass with the hint of colour. So pretty and brings back memories of inking up pens with a beloved ink.
You’re so right! It is really romantic to see a bottle low like that, just as you described. Thank you for sharing. Happy writing to you!
Agree...I can't bring myself to throw away my empty bottle of Diamine Majestic Blue. I love looking at it.
while i absolutely love your channel and contents, there will always be a little bit of extra sing song in my heart when you post a pen and ink video 💚
Awww thank you!!! 😍
You know every time I slow down with my journaling and crave getting back to it, I search up your channel and it inspires me to start again :)
Aww! That’s so wonderful! Happy writing!
Two of my favourite inks are the Diamine Ancient Copper and the Diamine Sepia. The Sepia is not a colour I would have thought I'd like but I got a free sample. It works well with my TWSBI 580 ALR with medium nib. I also use the Diamine Gray for shading with my dip pens.
As an aside I love how you write in your notebooks. I'm going to try that orientation.
We share a lot in common. I recently reviewed my ink/pen combos and did some jigging and now I have 13 combos I’ll keep. I have about 15 inks I never use and about 13 pens I never use either. It may be that I’ve reached my zenith with hunting down that ultimate writing experience but never say never. I know if I came into money some portion would go into pens and ink! 😉Now, if I only had 13 people who’d appreciate a letter! Lol
That must have been very satisfying work! Never say never, haha! That is definitely wise. 😂 May you find some penpals and enjoy sharing those combinations!
I’ll penpal with you.
I thought I'd like very black ink, but I'm going back to Diamine Twilight. The black/grey contrast within the ink emphasises the darkness more than the contrast of a blacker ink and the page.
I'm on the same page as you Alicia!
Some inks are JUST MADE for a certain PEN. That sweet spot, combination, mating, etc.... That's what makes FP so addictive, the search for the perfect combo that make you gasp...... and once you got it, you are never changing inks again for that particular pen!
I love those same Diamine inks, but have the Ancient Copper in my Homo Sapiens Bronze Age, and the Oxblood in a Waterman's Red Ripple 52v with a blue flex nib. Your warm, Earthy color palate suggests -- if you haven't already tried it -- that you might love Diamine's "Autumn Oak," which is a shading MONSTER. It'd shade even with your fine-line, diminutive and uber-feminine writing style. I have the Autumn Oak in an Esterbrook Jr. ("Pumpkin Latte") with a stub nib, and its a window on a fanciful, 19th Century world. Thank you, Alicia, for all the fun and warmth you radiate.
Thank you so much! I love the idea of the Sapiens and ancient copper match! Also, yes! I’m a big fan of autumn oak, and I was just think it was time to ink a pen up with it in celebration of fall nearing.
I love your obvious passion for these beautiful writing tools, and your handwriting is gracious and lovely to watch. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on each of them.
Ink bottles are so beautiful.💗 Writing is becoming a lost art form due to the digital wave and I'm so glad there are people in the world like you who are trying to keep it alive. Writing is the only thing in this world that is beyond the social constructs we put upon ourselves and makes us able to relate to and be equal no matter the circumstances. We share a voice and it needs to be protected. Old, young/ rich,poor/ despite race, religion, or orientation writing unites and allows us to understand each other. Thank you for sharing your pairings.🥰 I might need to start adding some vintage tools to my pen obsession. 😉
You should think twice about using Quink on the sheaffer balance. Modern Quink inks are acidic and not PH neutral, won’t matter for the nib as gold doesn’t corrode, but if sacs get dried and ink gets spilled, it can affect metal parts in the body. A safer option is sheaffer skrip, Herbin Perle Noir, Waterman Intense Black or Aurora Black.
I feel like I’ve never inked the same ink on back to back fills regardless of how much I like it haha, so seeing so many near empty bottles is like witchcraft to me. I’ve only finished a j herbin 10ml bottle in like four years. Side note, I love my 823 fine nib and seeing the line yours put down especially with a blue black ink is just so magical! Love your handwriting!
It is quite the magical thing when an ink bottle can be reduced! Each bottle carries so much ink, and it’s so easy to enjoy so many different bottles all at once! (And thank you!)
After 8 years of this hobby and at least 50 bottles of ink, I have never finished one bottle either. Also each week I have to ink some pen. I never keep my entire lineup fully inked, which I guess shows how much writing I do. There is no hobby like this hobby. :)
Well, if you give someone a fountain pen, they might need some ink, so taking a 1/2 bottle of Diamine or Noodlers, Pilot's Iroshizuku, and/or some Monteverde Noir inks (my goto inks 🙂), you might find you can actually empty a bottle... . Of course, you might need to purchase a few empty bottles to put the ink in. I like the empty Caran d'Ache bottles. The mouth of the bottles are at an angle, and the caps are really heavy. Really cool IMO. The full bottles of ink are pricey, and I can't say I've every purchased a new bottle of Caran d'Ache bottles with ink... . 🙂 @@csikomas8910
Yay! An ink video! I ordered the very expensive Diamine Inkvender advent calendar but I live quite a frugal live on every other aspect of every day living, I never buy any expensive clothes, no vacations, I have a garden and can my own goods etc. so I guess it's ok. And I can't wait to get it. Packaging is purple this year and I am sooo looking forward to December. 😉 I also love cold weather much better than summer.
Have fun with your advent calendar! Hurry up winter, we’re ready for you! 😍
You get an award for using any bottle of ink beyond the halfway mark! Glad to see an FP video. I hope you are staying cool this summer. Have you tried any Leonardo pens? My new fav. Fellow Cougar/Wildcat
Oh man! There’s more bottles in my collection like that!! Haha! I think I’ve only tried two Italian pen companies in the past - and while I really want to love them, it never clicked for me. And hello, I hope you’re also staying cool this summer! It’s been a rough one. But the evenings are finally starting to cool off a bit and it feels so good.
@@adventuredenali I was in Milan in May for work and went to Stilografica. Ivan talked me into trying the Leonardo Magico piston filler. I bought a medium nib and when back home ended up ordering a fine nib from Goldspot and the matching Leonardo ink. It writes beautifully and feels wonderful in your hand. I highly recommend seeking out a pen friend who has a Leonardo to take a test drive. Robert in Oregon
I didn’t connect with the idea of a pen and ink pairing until I received my Pilot Custom 823, in Smoke. I can’t bear to ink it with anything but Diamine Earl Grey.
And I love your Parker Quink and Balance match. I recently went down a rabbit hole of reading about vintage pen-safe inks for my tiny collection of vintage Sheaffers, and Parker Quink was one of the recommended. I was surprised that so many modern inks, like Pilot Iroshizuku, are considered too alkaline for vintage pens.
This was lovely. Thank you you for creating and sharing it.
Lovely combinations....one of mine that never changed is my Kaweco black stone washed and Noodler's Army Green....I just love those two together!
Oh that sounds like a great combination!
I feel sad for the pens that only get to experience one ink, and also for the inks that are languishing on the shelf instead of happily making marks on paper.
Haha! Well I’m sure you’re able to give all your inks plenty of attention. :)
Now that I have a dozen fountain pens, I’m beginning to think about combinations of pen color and ink color so I can easily grab the right pen for the color ink I want. I am also finding that I really like the Diamine inks, especially Oxford Blue, Ancient Copper, and Holly.
It’s really satisfying to have various inks always available to you in a pen. Although I suppose it can get a little overwhelming too. Diamine inks are wonderful, hard not to enjoy!
In my TWSBI mini rose gold, I have Ferris Wheel Press' Oyster Hour. I never intended that ink to be it's 'ink mate' and in fact, I never even bought that ink! I was trying to purchase the ink color 'Steeped Umber' but there was a mixup with the packaging and lo and behold, the bottle was actually filled with Oyster Hour. I reached out to the site I purchased the ink from and they said, 'Oh, no problem! We will send you the correct ink!' It was very nice of them, but, to no fault of their own, when I got that second bottle... it was Oyster Hour labeled as Steeped Umber again!
At first I was pretty upset. At that point, Steeped Umber was no longer available. The first pen I tried the ink in was my Procyon, which has lightened and thinned every ink I've put in it. It wasn't even readable. But, when I tried it in my TWSBI, I fell in love. There's something about the quality of the ink, how it goes on wet and how it dries--the texture and shading it leaves on the page like a ring of tea from the bottom of a mug--well, I fell in love with it.
Steeped Umber has since been restocked and I have a bottle of it now, but I think my TWSBI will keep Oyster Hour in it.
“Pairing! Pen and ink pairing” I was saying to my TV as you were searching for the right words! Then I remembered that you couldn’t hear me 😂 ❤
loving my Diamine Prussian blue which I’ve paired w Pilot custom 743 EF: thanks for recommending this:)
My (almost) permanent pairings are:
Kaweco Ice Sport - Diamine Onyx Black
(This used to be my Skyline Sport until I lost that a couple of weeks ago 😢 )
Kaweco Supra - Diamine Midnight
PenBBS 456 - Diamine Sapphire Blue
Other pens/inks get moved around upon my whim and fancy.
I have to say that I only liked Ancient Copper with one pen, a Parker 45 Flighter, but I've mixed a bunch with some Parker Quink Black to make a very oleasing dark brown I'm massively more likely to use 😀
I’m sorry for your lost sport! Also, I love that you mixed Ancient Copper and Parker Quink Black! That must look so good.
Love this. Those brown inks are beautiful! I am very new to the fountain pen world, so I am learning what I can. I am a regular journaler and now that I've discovered fountain pens~ I don't want to write (especially cursive) with anything else!
I love the Stone Road of Gion ink too !
I understand your reluctance to finish a bottle.
But, I would personnaly try and appreciate the inks up to the last drop..... Because from my expérience, a low quantity of ink left in a bottle doesnt keep well. Its like a leftover half-inch of perfume in a vial, or a small quantity of wine left over in a bottle.... That doesnt keep well because there is too large a space for air in the empty space in the bottle, so the ink/perfume/wine will oxydate fast. Also they can evaporate too.
So I believe its better to just use it. Otherwise you run the risk of trying to save something, and later realise that the precious leftover has turned Bad......
One combo that I keep going back to is my Lamy Safari all black (LH nib) with sailor Epinard. Epinard is my favorite ink but I don't re-ink it every time because its no longer available. Another combo I recently started that I think I'm going to stick with is my Lamy al-star Petrol (F nib) with Namiki Blue ink. Your list reminds me that I need to use Diamine Oxford Blue more. Its one of my favorites but I've been sidetracked a lot lately by new samples.
I do this as well. My Concrete Eco is always paired with Diamine Earl Grey.
Oh lovely combo!
I wish I had small delicate writing like this so I could enjoy a drier ink in an f or xf nib. I need at least a m and a wet ink to keep up with my handwriting.
You calm my PTSD. Thank you!
I’m so sorry you suffer from PTSD, but I’m so glad I’m able to help in some small way. Thank you for watching. ☺️
It is so interesting to discover what each pen collector determines is the "perfect pen and ink combination."
Each collector will often see it so differently, though one might think we should all see it the same. Our
unique personalities and love of color are very instrumental in those choices.
Absolutely! That’s a part of the specialness of it all. We each get to find the things that so perfectly inspire us.
I have been watching your videos for a long time, I love them and I want to understand them better! Unfortunately, I don't speak English very well, so I would like to ask: could you include Hungarian in the future to translate the subtitles? Thank you very much!! And I love your videos anyway, especially the ones about pens - but I'm happy to watch other ones as well. Thanks to: Kata, from Hungary. (I used Google translate, sorry if something was not clear :)
Helló! ha találok rá módot, szívesen megtenném! én is a google fordítót használom - remélem, ez értelmes lesz számodra. köszönöm, hogy ennyien néztek és itt voltatok. Nagyra értékelem!
My brass kaweco sport (paired with diamine winter spice!)
your hand writing is beautiful I love it so much im jelouse
Love your videos. The perfect pairing. 😄💙❤️♥️🧡🤎🩶👏👏👏
Kaweco Brass Sport with Diamine Ancient Copper is the number one combination for me.
That’s a great one. I did that for years too.
I’ve just purchased a Midori MD notebook with graph paper after watching you use them ,although now it is languishing in the wrapper as I can’t make myself break it out and start using it
I really enjoy seeing half filled bottles and I can totally relate to not wanting to finish a bottle. It’s as though it marks the end of time similar to the end of an era.
That’s such a beautiful way to describe it.
I have only one pen/ink combo that doesn't change; an extremely water mains firehose Waterman's Taperite I use for iron gall ink. (I have several, all blue-black, and very similar, from the unidentified date Dickson's, 1940s Parker Quink and Waterman's through Diamine Registrar's Ink.) I tend to be more about the variety of writing experiences than pairing. I have quite a few vintage pens, so there's certain inks I'll not use with them. But I also have a number of cheaper ones that I can use with impunity.😁
I do try, with my vintage Esterbrook pens, to pair the pen color with the ink color (unless I use it daily, sometimes more, i forget what is in them.) But the multiple black ones? Anything I feel safe with putting in them.
Some, it might be the same brand. I regularly use Parker Quink microfilm black in my black Parker 51 Vacumatic, for example.
I also have a range of inks. From possibly the 1930s (the aforementioned Dickson's), through every color of Parker Quink from the 1940s, still working on both vintage Sheaffer's Skrip and Waterman's (I have a bottle of the "unobtanium" Sheaffer's Skrip Peacock Blue, which was easier to find than Parker Quink washable blue, for unknown reasons), through modern inks like Noodler's and Diamine. Got the vintage inks to compare to more modern brands, and have fell in love with several vintage inks that they really need to bring back. The Parker Quink browns, especially. Also, gotten to put Noodler's up against the brand (Sheaffer's Skrip) Nathan Tardif claims as inspiration for his Warden series. Other than the total permanence, Sheaffer's won, IMO. Recoverable ("RC-35" fluoresces under black light, even if the rest is gone), much better behaved on the paper used for checks and other things you may want forgery resistance than any of the Warden series, in my experience. Other than no RC-35 today in them, other than a fortunate color change of the brown (original was unfortunate. More a sickly greenish brown, reminds me of changing the first diaper after a little kid ate spinach for the first time... Modern is a definite improvement) and dye change due to availability, it's still the same as the vintage. One of the best things about these is they have not really changed over the decades. Modern Parker's limited palette is the same as the original version. Same as Waterman's (no real difference between Serenity Blue and washable blue, for example) and Sheaffer inks made in Slovenia today.
Thank you for making this video, love the idea.
I love your clips
Your pen collection is so beautiful, always great to get a glimpse of it!
Thank you!
It really is the little things that make us the most happy in life :)
Reminds of using a Noodler's Ahab Raven FP with a flex nib, paired with its Racen Black ink (Canadian, limited exclusive.) Dark, mysterious, while I was transcribing the Raven on Halloween.
Oh I enjoyed this so much. It's been awhile since I inked up more than 2 pens at a time and I tend to stick to the same inks in both pens. Lately it's been De Atramentis in Alexander Hamilton in my TWSBI and Diamine Writer's Blood Ink in my vintage Sheaffer. Thank you for sharing your favorite combos!
How nice to find another pen/ink enthusiast whose combos don't change. I have 8 pens currently inked and I have chosen to pair ink colors to similar pen colors. I love color, so it makes sense I started this way. Currently I am in the process of trying out purple inks in a purple Sailor pen. When I get to the end of my samples I'll buy a whole bottle. I love the color of J Herbin "emeraude du chivor." Luckily their "bleu austral" seems to be the same color without shimmer, so I don't worry about clogging. It has always been in my teal Pilot Custon 74 . I love how this ink shades, but the Pilot nib is a bit thick. I tried the ink in a Sailor Pro Gear and it doesn't shade as well. Perhaps it's the slightly finer aspect of the Sailor nib? In September I plan to take a trip to NYC, where I hope to test out some different pens in shops there. I've been hesitant to buy a pen without trying, hence just Pilot & Sailor.
My amber Pilot 823 will always be my brown ink pen. It started with De Atramentis Document Brown and then moved to the Document Sepia Brown when I saw that on Goulet. It’s a slightly less reddish brown. My Platinum 3776 Karakusa (royal blue with hand-engraved swirling vines in silver) is constantly filled with Platinum Pigment Blue. I mostly use water proof/resistant inks.
Sounds like you have a good system down!
I have several of these pens and inks in my collection, but I haven’t tried these exact combinations. I’ll have to give them a go, especially the Pelikan pairings.
Awesome! Hope you enjoy the new combinations!
I have a basically new 80ml bottle of Ancient Copper if you want it. I love that Oxford Blue in my Kaweco Sport, and Diamine Twilight is a fave of mine, but I don’t care for the Ancient Copper.
I simply could not bring myself to even conceive of an ink other than KWZ Honey for my amber 823. It would somehow break my heart to uncap that pen and not get a waft of vanillin. My black 823 is married to Montblanc James Purdey and Sons Single Malt. I wish there were more scented inks where the scent works well, because it's a really delightful experience! I actually experimented with adding a touch of perfume into a pen when refilling and it turned out glorious, though it could have gone very wrong as well!
Wow! I’ve never heard of anyone doing anything like that before. How lovely! My only experience with scented inks are some De Atramentis inks. I’ve always been drawn to the James Purdey ink though.
I am coveting that writing desk at the start of the video.
Love your pen videos. When you find pen matches for the low inks, please share!
Thank you! And will do!
for those yellows try citrus black - serious whimsy
Couple of comments and maybe a question or two..... I really enjoy the content that you provide. Very informative and clear. I recently viewed your video covering the various nib sizes on the Kaweco's. As I'm considering purchasing one of these; you really saved me from purchasing the wrong size nib....fine is the way to go (at least for me). The one aspect that I enjoy most in your videos is your handwritting. To my eye, it is the best I've seen on this platform. The height (size) angle, flow; all excellent. Thus my question(s): Is that your natural hand that you developed over time? Have you studied, practiced other forms; say Spencer, Palmer, Zaner, etc.? I'm getting back into writing curvise. 30+ years in the architectural fields has produced many, many miles of block printing, italic block, etc, etc.. I've researched, tried to remember what style I was taught in school. Honestly, it seems like a combination of styles. There is something about your writing that just resonates with me. Any information, guidance you could say would be very appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks. Appreciate the response.
My only permanent pairing at the moment is my Kaweco brass sport with Herbin Lie de the.
3 is for me. Your wrist must be super strong to write so fine.
Yes, that Prussian Blue is a beautiful ink, but did the angels really start singing, really? I write with it all the time, and the best response I can get is my neighbor's dog barking in the backyard.
Fill the TWSBI Diamond with each one… after they run out, go to the next and use them up. :) that pen loves almost every ink.
Great suggestion!
Stunning. The most wonderful video to watch.
Beautiful handwriting and so individual.
Thank you so much!
Yaaaayy!! I love this. Will you ever have a pen dedicated to a one shimmer ink?
Doubtful! I’m just not a fan of shimmering inks. I think they’re so beautiful to see, but they give me a bit of anxiety, haha. I think if I were a user of larger nibs, I’d enjoy shimmer inks more - but they don’t really show off much when one writes mostly with extra fine nibs. Now, if I were to get into calligraphy? Look out! Haha!
Always a pleasure to watch your pen videos.
Hello and thank you!
How satisfying it is to see your ink bottles half or almost completely used.
I think so too!
Hi! I just wanted to come let you know: just having showed up are a Leuchtturm A5 in pacific green and my first ever bottle of Diamine Prussian Blue! Naturally you won't have to guess the pen which will be matched in this case (Amber, Fine).
This video I watched the other day (or week, I guess) and it reminded me of your very excited video about having found the combination. I've been looking for the right ink for my 823 for a while now, and I'm really excited to see how the pairing goes!!!!
So I suppose what I want to say is thank you. Please keep going; you've been a shining light of life in my youtube feed now for a while--I'm very grateful. I'm gonna go clean the pen wooo!!! Naturally I somehow managed to get WAY more than just the notebook and the ink in this delivery, so I am all excited to dive in. Hope you're well!
OoOOOo that Sheaffer Oversize Balance 😍
I'm a Parker Quink Black ink fan, too.
I have the same tortoiseshell red M600 and it's never known any ink other than Iroshizuku Fuyu-gaki. I had the ink first, and bought the pen to go with the ink. I've probably got at most two more refills before the bottle is finished. Will I replace it with the same? Not sure. Probably though.
I dig your eyeglasses. Good video also.
Thank you!
My 823 only had Diamine Vivaldi. A combination made in heaven. But with most of my pens i have yet to discover my favourite combinations. Talking Pilot; have you ever tried the 912? I love it
I'm currently having a Sheaffer Lifetime from the 1922-23 restored. It left Iowa for the first time ever this year. Definitely going to need a bottle of Parker Quink!
That’s so exciting!!! I hope you enjoy the pen, and Parker Quink!
Great video as always. Best wishes.
Thank you for doing a video on pen and ink pairings!
You’re so welcome!
All my TWSBI ECOs (I have way too many) have a dedicated ink. Everything else, no wait, I have a deep blue Leonardo that only gets diamine Sargasso Sea. Tge rest get whatever I feel like at th tome.
That’s my dream, have a bunch of TWSBIs always inked up with a whole variety of colors. 😍 Seems fun.
pairing!
(very nice choices)
I have a bottle of Mont Blanc Blue from 1980, sadly as it got low, I added Quink Blue washable, Waterman Blue, Quink Permanent Blue. So now I have no idea what ink it is, not even able to replicate and it’s very low verging on running out 😮😮😮😮😢😢😢😢
Pen/ink pairs can be so satisfying. For me it is mostly about finding the right flowing ink with the right flowing pen. I have a pen where I tried Octopus Green Squirrel but it just dries up after half a page so I am now trying Diamine steel blue which is a wetter ink to see if that works. And I just got a new Stabilo Flow sporty where I put the cartridge it came in in, but it is a wet pen so I am hoping that will be the right pen for the green squirrel.
Oxblood is one of my faves too, and I do have a few similar colors with the latest addition being "Writer's Blood". I agree with trying out new colors but I did buy an 80ml bottle of my main ink (Diamine Steel Blue) it just makes me so happy. I also tend to add it to other colors at the end of the cartridge to see what happens with that color and it transitioning close to the steel blue.
Absolutely, ink flow and pen flow are really important to get just right. Also, I love that you have a little color mixing tradition at the end of a cartridge! That sounds like a lot of fun.
Hello! You had me at “cursive italic” lol. I’m a huge fan of stubs/italics so it’s no surprise I was interested :-) Who ground your CI’s? Apologies if I missed the name of the nibmeister in the video. Thanks!
This is my first video of yours and I love it. I have one permanent combo, a Diplomat Magnum ef in Prismatic Purple with Organic Studios Nitrogen. This will be the only ink in this pen will know while with me. My Sailor 1911 f in Night cherry blossom is in a committed relationship with Van Dieman's Aurora Australis for a while. Not yet sure if it is permanent, time will tell
Hello and welcome! Thank you so much for sharing your combos! I love the names, they conjure up such rich images.
I always love Alicia’s videos (especially when Fig & Bean are in them) and thought of this selection when my new Pelikan M800 Brown/Black fountain pen arrived to get excitement this morning. Which ink ??? After a lot of dithering chose J Herbin Lie de The and am happy with my choice but know there is some Akkerman SBRE Brown on the way…
Congratulations! Akkerman SBRE Brown is a beautiful ink, but of course so is Lie de The. Enjoy your pen and thank you for the comment.
Hi Alicia - thanks for taking the time to reply 😊 - hope Fig & Bean are well. You will be pleased to hear that my lovely wife has bought me a Pilot 823 Amber for our Anniversary. My Prussian Blue stands ready and waiting 🎉
ok, you got me!: have finally given up and bought a 30ml bottle Prussian blue - will finally see what all the fuss is about, l hope!:)
I Hope you love it!
@@adventuredenali thank you, keep posting good vid’s!:)
You are young , and seem intelligent .Couldn't you be doing a lot more than this ? (🌎😢). ❤nate
I have the Kaweco brass and once I finish this current ink up (diamine imperial purple) I plan on putting in diamine tobacco sunburst and keeping it that way!
Beautiful ink and pen combinations.
Thank you ☺️
Where did you get the fox + ink bottle stamp for swatching, or is it a drawing ??
I have found that I really dislike the Lamy steel nibs (on the safari and al star), but I recently got a 14k replacement and it is absolutely gorgeous. If you ever get a chance to pick one up and try it on your lamy, maybe you’ll fall in love with that pen again?
Thanks for sharing
Interesting, thank you!
Hi, I really enjoyed your shown pens and inks. I'm new to your channel and "higher end pens" (atm using a new Lamy AL-star fine with Faber Castell ink in rubian red). What of your videos can you recommend for me, as a beginner in pen and inks? 😊
You are such a beautiful human!😊
Just ran into your channel and I really like your journaling/ ink / pens content. That being said, what fountain pen would you recommend as a step up from a Kaweko sport Brass? Thanks.
I don't seem to be sensitive to the kinship that other folks feel between particular pens and inks. Is there more to it than getting the desired combined wetness and maybe a matching color?
Maybe there’s more to it? Some perceived magical moment? I don’t know. For me, I like the ink flow and the fountain pen flow to be just right. Not too wet, not too dry - much like a Goldilocks situation. I also like considering the ink and pen colors together, but not directly matching - more of a what ink color compliments the pen’s color.
Love your videos. ❤
That leather blotter that you held up to hide your journal- do you know where to buy those? I have one that I got with a Galen notebook and I love it, but can’t find a replacement. 😢 TIA
Hello and thank you! The blotter is one I also got with a Galen notebook. You can buy paper blotters at Jetpens though!
Delicious. Guess Goulets must learn how to comunícate properly. Magnificent.
I recently acquired a bottle of Ina Ho from overseas and put it in my Pilot Custom 823 with a Broad nib. And now I don’t want to put anything else in it. And I also don’t want to keep it permanently inked, because once my bottle is used up, it’s gone. Maybe I’ll try Yamabukiiro to see if I can break my habit.
I really enjoy your content😊. May I ask, what is it about the Lamy LX that you don't like? Because I was thinking of getting this exact pen.
Greetings from the Netherlands 🤗
Thank you! I think the LX is a great pen. It’s consistent, solidly built and writes well. For me, it’s just a personality thing, as if the pen and I don’t have good chemistry, haha.
I think i am the ony Indian watching your videos. Addicted. I love the smell of ink. Thanks for the videos. I have ordered a Kaweco today. Waiting for it❤
It’s your handwriting first that spreads pearls on paper. Ink and pen second.
Are any of your favorite inks waterproof?
You are running out of inks using ef nibs? That might require so much writing!
Have you tried ina-ho? Of the ones you've shown, which one is most similar? I've been eyeing the kyo no oto yamabuki-iro one but I'm not sure it's quite the same thing. (why did they have to discontinue my favorite ink?!!!)
I love oxblood but it feels so dry in my pens. I have to use it in firehoses otherwise I cant enjoy the writing experience :(
Oh bummer! That Pelikan is a really juicy pen, so I guess I never really thought much about it otherwise!
Try Writer’s Blood instead. It’s a little darker, but it’s super wet.
Love when I find pen & ink mates. I have a few, still working on others. Thanks!
Have you had any problems with skipping or clogging with the Parker Quink black ink? I keep reading from others about such instances and so I've hesitated getting a bottle, although I would like to try it in my Parker Vacumatics from the 1930s. Thank you for any input.
Hello! I haven’t had that experience at all. I’ve enjoyed the ink quite a bit. Enjoy your pens!
@@adventuredenali Thank you. I think I will give Parker Quink black ink a try, then. And I think you would enjoy 1930s (pre-WWII) Parker Vacumatics, especially those with Fine or Extra-Fine nibs. They are great writers and the pens are beautiful.
