Hi any good sites for vintage pens ? Trying to get into vintage.

A great starting place! EBay also has some sellers who restore and sell vintage pens regularly. Just got to be careful to read the description and check their ratings.
I am in Los Angeles for a family emergency and discovered “Flax” in the Westwood district-I am so doomed! I looked around at all the beautiful fountain pens in their display cases and commented on how they really are like small works of art.

Question, why do people under 40 yr old think you need more than 1 to 5 pens? Absolutely no need .
I'm seriously upset about young people hoarding pens when many of you destroy the nibs, destroy the feeds , it's heartbreaking and then people who use the Duofold or the 51 but within 10 years those went up I. Price by £300 because young people who weren't taught how to write or look After fountain pens destroy almost 3/4 of those you guys buy,
Anyone wanting a new MB who has a vintage one has no idea about fountain pens . Seriously stop hoarding pens. Privilege people who hoard are the worst
This was fun! You have your fountain pens so beautifully organized!!! Galen Leather cases are so nice! ☺✒
Thank you!
I can't resist fountain pen collection videos !!
Thanks, Alicia, for sharing your full collection. The last time you did this video, you had just bought your first Galen Leather 40-pen pouch. It’s nice to see how your tastes in fountain pens has matured. Thanks for the great videos!
Hello David! Thank you so much for watching! I can’t believe you can remember that! I certainly couldn’t. Funny how I made another collection video just after receiving my second Galen leather pouch!
Yay! 😆 I've been waiting for this video for awhile. There's something about the way you talk about pens (or anything else) that makes me keep coming back
Yay! Thanks for being here! :D
Very nice to see the update in your collection. Thanks for sharing. Pelikan continues to be a staple in my collection as well. I tried my first Kaweco Sport earlier in the year and now have one inked up on my workbench at all times. They are very handy. Galen makes beautiful leather products.
Your storage pouches are gorgeous.
Thank you! Pelikan does pens well. Hard not to have them be a staple. Glad you’re liking the Kaweco! I really love this storage. Sometimes I think it would be fun to have a pen chest with drawers, but for some reason, that seems harder to find a space for.
Amazing collection. I enjoyed watching these beautiful pens. Thanks for sharing.
Love your collection! I especially love learning about your taste in vintage fountain pens
Thanks Erick!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Galen stuff. I got two of those pen cases but need at least one more.....maybe more LOL. I totally agree with the Sailor's .... they are out of control! Pretty, but just too many to afford!
Yes! I've been waiting for this = )
Can't wait to see your collection in 2023!!!
Wahoo!! I suspect I’ll have some new things to share!
Thank you for showing off all your lovely pens!
You’re welcome !
What an awesome collection! Thank you for sharing. ♥️
Thank you and you’re welcome!
That's a nice and remarkably dud-free collection. Always a pleasure to enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much!
Love this! I'm so busy with work this week, I have yours and Chris' videos in my Watch Later list!
Aww good luck getting through your work week! I hope you’ll have lots of rest and relaxation soon!
It's just been one of those weeks but I can finally relax for the weekend.
Loved seeing your collection! I haven't quite made the leap into vintage but maybe one day...My very 1st fountain pen was a vintage Waterman given to me by my grandfather when I was in jr high. Sadly, it was lost in a house fire years later but it was also the impetus for starting my collection. I'm so with you on the Sailor special editions - haahaaa! It IS exhausting! I had just picked up the Winter Sky model when the 2 Christmas editions were released. I fell in love with Christmas Spice Tea and was so tempted to get it but it's impossible to keep up with every new "special edition" that comes out. That said, there are a couple of places that still have some in stock and I find myself lurking the sites every couple of days 😄 so the temptation is still there but I keep telling myself: "Roxie, there will be another "special edition" you'll fall in love with just around the corner. Hold fast!"😂
Beautiful collection.
Thank you!
Such a great collection! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you and you’re welcome!
Always a pleasure!
Thank you!
Thank you for this pen feast! 💕
You’re welcome!
Enjoyed seeing your collection, you make me want to get into vintage pens. My TWSBI minis are my go to pens, too, they never skip or leak and they're pretty too! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome! Oh TWSBI, so good!
Great collection, I watched your kaweco brass sport review and sent for one
very pleased with it.
Thank you from UK.
I’m so glad to hear it! Thank you for watching and happy writing. 😊
That's a lot of pens! Nice collection!
Thank you!
I am so glad that you have a renewed interest in fountain pens. I know that you took a "break". I originally found you, when I was searching RUclips for fountain pen reviews. I think that you recommended the small, black, vintage Kaweco pens that came in that tiny leather pouch. You remember those?
Omg, if you EVER decide to give up that Do Write, please tell us. I’d sooo be interested, I’ve had a crush on him since you first showed him on your channel 😊
What a lovely collection
That is so good to know about the Esterbrook purse pens. Was thinking of getting one but I'm definitely going to just go for an SJ as my first Esterbrook instead.
Every time I see your vintage collection it makes me want to start mine, so far I have only gotten a Parker 75 in a beautiful olive green. They are hard to find in good condition and decent prices here in England and my finances aren’t great. Some day :) 😊
Somehow I have kept my vintage fountain pen collection to just two: a Parker 51 and Sheaffer Sentinel Snorkel. Sheaffer is definitely my favorite vintage brand, though. I see so many vintage Sheaffers I'd love to have, but I really love the one I already own and don't want to go down the vintage rabbit hole, I have enough of a problem with too many modern pens lol.
I think that’s so awesome that you love the Sheaffer you have! It’s a great thing to find the perfect pen. And also, I get steering clear the rabbit hole… 😂
Fun to see! Thanks!
The best fountain pen in your collection with which to write the most wonderful lines, is you. ;) All in all, wonderful collection.
I'm glad to hear you've replaced the stolen Brass Kaweco! That was a heart-breaker. Eclectic bunch of stuff that disappeared that day. Galen Leather has some very well made/useful leather products and their service is great too.
Me too! It was a very eclectic theft. Before discovering the other things missing, I thought my pen had rolled off the camp table, or maybe a critter took it.
And yes, Galen Leather has great service!
It's wild that your pen got stolen! My parents had someone break in to their barn a few years back, and the only thing stolen was mom's favorite cowboy hat!!! We joked, at least the thief had good taste. Thanks for sharing your collection. :)
thank you for sharing! I love the ribbing design on your sweater - do you remember the pattern name?
Great collection! It’s exciting to see the sailor limited editions but disappointing that they usually only offer it with an MF nib.
Thank you! I know! I really prefer the fine nibs, and even the extra fine can be great!
Very nice >>>> Thank you
Thank you for a whistle-stop tour round your collection.
I wonder if you might take a more leisurely and discursive stroll through your pocket pens? That would be very interesting.
I’d love to! Pocket pens are my favorite.
Any information you’d want to see in particular?
@@adventuredenali I just like looking at pocket pens 😆 Filling systems, nibs, personal histories, preferences etc. It was the Tuckaways that really sparked the idea in my head, but who doesn't love Kawecos? Aaaaand that Baby Safety! 😍
@@archivist17 great, I can talk about that all!
Enjoyed seeing your collection. The Parkers prompted me to muse about hand sizes and the bell shaped curve. I surmise your hands are small (even tiny!) based in part on some of your other videos where small (to me) pens appear normal; I chuckled when you commented that the Parker Seniors were "giant"! My hands prefer the Maxima and find the juniors too small!😃
Hahah! Yeah hand size really changed the perspective. It would be fun to have my partner make an appearance with his hands just to show how pens fit differently in each hand.
@@adventuredenali It would!!!
So beautiful!
Thank you!
Love your collection. I love Pelikan, Kaweco, and vintage Sheaffer and Parker pens. I have to say that my experience with TWSBI pens hasn’t been as positive as yours. My TWSBI stub had to be worked on for a long time to get it to write smoothly, and the medium Eco writes dry whereas the TWSBI 580 pours the ink out. Just very inconsistent. I like that they hold a lot of ink, but other than that, I much prefer my Kaweco Sport pens. I wish I could afford a Pelikan 600 and another Benu, but my pen buying days are about over; retirement income sucks! More pen videos, please!
There is a fine line between collection and addiction. I remember when your channel started, not too many pens.
12:10 there’s a coyote out there right now enjoying writing with their new warm socks 😅
Your content and just your openness is always an incredible grace and such a wonder of inspiration. I so enjoy the seeable and unignorable warmth that is an ooze of ebullient excitement from the depth of your glowing eye contact, that is just so ignorant of any sense of untruth or lie... this feel-good honesty is what is more needed in this time and sense of family we should foster as a species... To think, something as simple as a writing tool binds us. We pen people so get it. And that "it" is all that too many have either long lost or just have never had the delight of discovery... to share, to explore, to continue to want to be a part is only an instinct that nothing living has to learn... but is so hardwired from the moment our hearts beat. I love your channel. And am so blessed by your sharing. Thank you. Thank you. And Please, please, please... stay safe... and continue to let your ease of kindness have it habitual reach.....
I’ve stopped “collecting” fountain pens, there’s just way too many, and I’m not made of $$$ lol. At the moment I have 67 assorted pens from TWSBI (the majority), Pilot, Sailor, Opus, Pineider, Platinum, Noodler’s, Lamy, Edison, Diplomat, and Conklin. I’d love to add a couple vintage pens but it’s hard finding them on Guam and purchasing them from off island just cost to much $. Thank’s for sharing what you have.
I had to giggle when you said the striped pen reminded you of men’s swimming trunks from the 60s. I was expecting “peppermint stick.”
Hahahaha! That’s so funny, I’ve never thought peppermint stick! 😂 But that seems so much more obvious!
Love your collection! I have a question: I picked up a vintage pen from an antique shop (a Waterman 12 1/2 from 1903) and it needs some light restoration); where can I send it to get worked on?
Have you looked into the modern Wahl Eversharp Decoband??
I’ve not looked into the modern ones, just the vintage!
Great to see you back talking about pens ;-) You seem to have skipped the Italian pens in your collection. Can I recommend Omas or Delta as a good place to start? Keep up the good work.
Hello! Absolutely! I am actually waiting on a Visconti as we speak! Supposed to arrive Monday. I went with the Mirage Mythos. I’d love to try a Homo sapiens one day as well. An Omas too of course!
You need some Franklin Christoph pens!!! Lots of nib options.
I do! I do!
Nice pouch.
inner flaps with one slot available!
I really enjoyed this. So interesting to compare and contrast, but I'm way behind...just five or so years into the bottomless pit! I don't know why, but I link you with Pelikan pens, first and foremost, which is probably entirely erroneous. It's a brand I've only looked into as far as vintage pens are concerned. Lovely! Sailor was my entry point but I've now just a little trio of Pro Gears. Not much Italian representation in your collection? I love Aurora nibs: solid, different and made in-house. Very, very beautiful! Your Galen cases are something else. Another item I'll get sometime. Greetings from Sheffield, England!
I have a sheaffer with a triumph nib that's similar to your green one. I was hoping you could answer this: I just got it back from getting it restored and it's skipping, like it won't write consistently. I've inked it up the right way but I still can't get ink to flow. What could I be doing wrong?
Hmm, I wonder if it would help to flush out the pen and then re-ink it? Maybe there’s some residue from the restoration, or some kind of cleaning agent still in parts?
I’d also ask the person that restored it to see if they had any ideas.
Good luck!
@@adventuredenali I didn’t even think about flushing the pen out. Totally my bad, thank you so much for reminding me about that! I absolutely love your content by the way. Thank you for putting your life out for us to see!
@@reddiewip I hope it’s as simple as that!🤞🏽
And thank you!
Nice, thanks!
You’re welcome!
Interesting. Are there any French brand pens that you have used?
Omg, if you EVER decide to give up that Do Write, please tell us. I’d sooo be interested, I’ve had a crush on him since you first showed him on your channel 😊
Will do!
Interesting collection. When you purchase a pen what nib size is your favorite?
Fine or extra fine! Sometimes a stub, especially cursive italic (but that usually calls for a custom grind).
I saw the thumbnail, I clicked!!❤ You are one of my main inspiration why my wallet continues to suffer Alicia!!😅
Hahaha oh no! I mean honestly, I’m sorry for your wallet, but really - not sorry at all. 😂
@@adventuredenali 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I loveyour collection. Question : what are your favorite nib sizes?
Fine and extra fine mostly! Occasionally a stub, especially if it’s a cursive italic ;)
Which twsbi fountain pen would you recommend for someone on a budget who still wants a decent quality pen?
Eco!
@@adventuredenali Ok, thanks a lot for the reply :)
hello, is a pleasure to meet you, allow me to introduce myself briefly, I am Armando and we live in Southern Ca. in the desert are as well, near Palm Springs, moved out here from Connecticut in 95, any how, I was looking for reviews on flex nib fountain pens and came across one of your videos and is very rare that I subscribe to a channel unless I really, really feel in tune with with the info. a the interest are in tune with mine, and your videos are just that, I really like the way that you present them, I enjoyed a lot the on on your fountain pen cases, wow, those leather cases are so beautiful and they hold an excellent amount of pens for those of us who are in love with them, also the one on your trip to New York, it brought back so many memories walking in nall those places, and the the one on your collection of typewriters, you a nice variety, that German one is nice, I a have only 2, one I brought back from my vacation to Argentina, a friend of mine who used to work for the train company got me one from a bunch of them that were just abandoned in the basement of their headquarters. really heavy one from the 20's with a wooden space bar, imagine that. anyway, I subscribed to your channel and want give you 2 thumbs up for the quality of your work. I will keep watching.
take good care. p.s. I couldn't catch your name. 👍👍
Cool, I subscribed, we have similar interests, typewriters, fountain pens, also I collects pencil sharpeners.😊
Thank you and welcome! :D
Ooh, do you have a favorite pencil sharpener?
Yes, I will make a video on it and shared to you, give me a day🙂

@@adventuredenali Hi, I just made a video on my little pencil sharpeners collection for you, I sended a link, thank you 😊
@@hortenseplaceg9740 your collection is beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing, I thoroughly enjoyed that video.
At first I thought it might have been a bird who took your shiny pen. But the blanket makes me think, perhaps not
That’s what we thought too! But then we saw our tent door open, and asked each other, “Did you leave that open?” When we went inside our blanket was gone, and so were the socks. A very large and capable bird? 😂
i love your hairstyle does it have a name ? I am thinking of adopting it .
Thank you! I have no idea. I’ve been cutting it myself for well over a decade now. 😂
Just a quick question,in a previous video you mentioned that you were a teacher, what did you teach.
Hello! I taught at a Montessori school, grades 3rd-5th. I taught a variety of things: art, music, math, and geography.
I bet you were wonderful. I’m thoroughly enjoying you..💖
Do you know why Parker pens have an arrow on the clip? I do!
Tell me! :D
I hope someday you can fix your vintage treasure
Thank you! That would be so special.
Pilot Custom 823?
You bet!
@@adventuredenali no, I mean where is it at in your collection? You are the reason I bought two of them! Lol

@@MIZRAIM1906 haha!
how is it still only 480p after two hours :(?
Oh no! That’s so lame! It shouldn’t be!
My first thought was, I wonder if Pier Gustafson could help you out with a matching barrel to your broken Sheaffer? He seems to have billions of pens and spare parts. I wonder ...🤔
We have talked about it a lot, in fact! I’ve just not been very proactive about it. >.
Wow! That is a lot of pens! I just discovered that pens are now a hobby? I learned to write with a parker 51 in the 70s and I don't understand why people think it's a hobby. I still write everything as computers tend to go wrong. I use blue prints too. I just don't understand why it's now a hobby
No EVERSHARP in your US Pens ?… I have one vintage gold nib so fantastic writer. Be well. Thanks for sharing.
Kintsugi is what you need for your Schafer balance !
Oh my gosh….. you’re right. Could that even be possible??? That would be so perfectly perfect!
12:01 did you find the aminal that stole it?
I'm only gonna have 10 fountain pens. But maybe eleven and that'll be it for me..
👍🏽
Your so cute!!
Thank you ☺️
@@adventuredenali 🌸💎
You really should not store vintage celluloid pens in zippered cases as it increases the chance of damage to the celluloid as the pen ages and off gases, which can cross infect the other pens who are not yet exhibiting such ageing
Why would the definition of a vintage pen be anything other than other vintage things: 20 years. Very simple, although you may fee old, bun unless you have antique pens and can remember writing with them in your youth, you probably are not that old.
Well some folks argue that true vintage pens are no longer being made… but that seems a moot point too. 😂 I just call my vintage, vintage and my moderns, modern.
...and l’ve been pronouncing Pelikan like the bird forever.
Oh gosh, I have no idea if that’s the correct way either! I just heard someone say it like that and it latched on. Figured it made sense, German company, different spelling. But who knows! 😂
So sorry but I just found this flashy and cheap and nasty. Guess my family were too upper class to understand why anyone would hoard so many pens when they could be in use if everyone had only one.
This pen hoarder is everything wrong with the " fountain pen hobby" fountain pens aren't a hobby, we write with them, we learned to write with them, millennials and others collecting them are screwing it for us folk who use them to write fo our family, our business partners and all of us gen x off grid folk who are really upset because its not a goddam hobby. Even worse is trying to buy nibs etc that were pennies a few years ago, like the darn analog photography comunity who wrecked it for us who hose to keep using our fulm medium format camera and now people in their 20s are bumping up thr prices of tlr cams, not because tbey collect em vut because they try to use 120 yr old pens caneras watches and have no idea how they work so destroy the first 10 you buy times kt by 50 k of you and the lomo tlr Russian made model nit the plastic lomography o e now costs £500 for a cheap basic tlr. The point and shoot .odel? Your looking at £2k for an original Russian one, but the English kodak similar pne still zells for £20. Please stop hoarding things you are not using! Look at lomography from ten year ago, it was huge, but houng people with no fulm photography experience bought high end medium format cameras, then broke them. Sorry byt this channel is not good , a pen should be used. If anyone has so many pens only a few are used then stop buying them! You only need one good pen! Kts not a hobby! Pens are how we communicate with each other. I just don't understand why people
are buying lens that they have no clue how to use, or worse ehy but mote than 2 or three? You only need to ne fountain pen, our great grandparents would buy one, they would tey out 8 or ten and choose the one. Then saveand buy it with a 24 k nib . Mb ? My grandpa laughed T people who applied to work for him and tried to impress him with a mb , by the 80s he said mb owners now drive Porsche. If you don't understand you don't understand.
