    Great video WaxMode, you touched on a few items that I think are important to discuss further.
    The general consensus we have gathered amongst RUclipsrs is that tight water beading seems to be the great elixir (No pun intended) of determining a products efficacy in durability, chemical repellency and overall value. Although the results shown here of our own product are much less than what we have formulated (which we can debate as to why), our goal with our Ceramic Wax PRO product may explain the variance.
    When comparing products in the vacuum of a video, the most visual results inherently will become the spotlight while the secondary aspects take much less focus. It's extremely important, and potentially a point we have not communicated well enough as a brand to make clear exactly what each of our products do and what makes them unique or different than what is on the market. Our goal with Ceramic Wax PRO was to make a product that would outlast any of standard sealant or wax while being as easy or easier to install. For those who have used Fusso Coat compared to normal wax you will understand there is a very large variance in applications between "like" products. Some products just simply dont reward the installer for their efforts, something which goes against our philosophy.
    In terms of application, There is a sliding scale between performance and ease of use. The large portion of our market with Ceramic Wax PRO are consumers who dont have any detailing experience and are actually fairly intimidated by using car care products on their own vehicles. Many of us that are familiar with car detailing often forget that a large percentage of people out there have no real experience and are deathly afraid of causing irreversible damage to their vehicle. If there is a way to get these consumers feet wet, to get them to try a product that would give them very satisfactory results without being overwhelmed, then they will be even more apt to try more complicated processes.
    Water Sheeting Vs. Water beading. On opposite sides of the spectrum you can create a product with extremely high water beading properties with a high water contact angle that forms tight beads that sit on the surface and create a very neat visual effect, while not achieving much. On the other side of the spectrum you can develop a product with a lower water contact angle, but higher sliding angles while producing a surface that is slick enough to shed contaminants instead of holding onto them with their higher surface energies, which in part creates high water contact angles. Which is better?
    In a vacuum, If we were to hand a general consumer an extremely water repellant product that was quite difficult or stubborn to use, it wouldn't matter how well it performed they would just not use it. But, if we were to hand them a product that would be an order of magnitude better performance than what they have used, while being even easier to use and produce better results then they we will have succeeded.
    It is relatively easy to make a product perform well. What is hard to do is make a product that performs well WHILE being extremely easy to use in any situation.
    Building a system of products that work together and form a cohesive unit is a very effective way to ensure ongoing results as products weather over time. There are many benefits to having Ceramic Wax PRO as a base layer of protection with layering additional products in conjunction for added results. Much of your UV protection, filling abilities, gloss and longevity come from film build thickness which you get with a product like Ceramic Wax PRO, something most spray detailers on their own cannot achieve.
    Ceramic Wax PRO paired with our Ceramic Shampoo as a routine wash and topped with Ceramic Refresh every few months will produce results that will rival most consumer level products. Some customers are looking for a durable, easy wax application protectant and aren't looking for multi step process, which is great. The product will achieve what they're looking for. But for those looking for additional benefits this pairing opens up the opportunity to create a full turn key system with fantastic results and takes out any guess work.
    As our product line further develops and new technologies emerge we will continue to make products that are even easier and produce even better results than before. We will always push to formulate performance without compromising application.

      Cheers Tim, thanks for stopping in and providing a great response! You bring up a lot of great points as well, trying to blend the perfect product that capitalizes on ease of use while delivering on protection amidst a competitive market, and stringent standards of users of all backgrounds and experiences, it's definitely not as simple as it looks especially when you have a constant influx of new companies and brands to compete against.
      Fusso Coat provides performance, but at the cost of a highly chemical smell that would drive headaches for some in a few seconds of use. Not the easiest to spread and remove, with a higher potential of streaks by not being able to wipe it clean. Perhaps not the best choice for beginners that don't have the experience to adjust application methods on the spot to avoid a mess.
      Even myself, the self-professed hydrophobic addict, I still have a hard time choosing something like Fusso Coat or Polymer Net Shield when I've spent hours and hours on paint correction. Products that give me that much better ease of use start becoming much more attractive after 6+ hours on the buffers.
      I've definitely got to get my hands on some of your maintenance toppers, would love to pair these up with Pro Ceramic Wax to showcase how that pairing works out when used together on a regular basis!

      First, I commend you for taking the time and effort to participate in this ‘forum’. While it may be a vacuum of sorts, it’s the best a consumer can do short of being in Waxmode’s driveway.
      I appreciate the challenges of product formulation, and the market analysis that goes into it. My only thought as a knee-jerk response is that if the product is aimed at novice detailers, or as a gateway product...take the word PRO off of the name.
      My honest opinion is that ANYONE who is brave enough to maintain their own car....is already in a completely different social group than 95% of the largest group. They care enough to take care of their belongings. So if you aim products at them that are split by ability, I believe they’re going to be humble enough to grab the bottle that builds confidence with minimal risk, or, grab the ‘PRO’ bottle that looks you dead in the eye and warns you of the sleeves you need to roll-up.
      These consumers (myself included) are already sold. They just want to reward themselves in ways that align with their own goals and expectations.
      Not complaining about your products whatsoever. Just felt compelled to respond to a thoughtful post from the horse’s mouth. Thanks for reading.

      Thanks Codriver, and this isn't necessarily directed specifically towards Ethos and Lithium, it's what I would like to see across the market in order for companies to more effectively differentiate their offerings. Let's bring a bit of the real science of the chemistry in order to capture the attention of more experienced users. Leveraging potential weakpoints of particular base layer protectants with maintenance toppers that can be used to quench a particular hydrophobic desire, or something that plays well on top of the properties of the base protectant.

      @@WaxMode I am sure we are missing out on some really good properties just because we are focusing on hydrofobicity (not sure about my spelling since english is not my native language) and chemical resistance insome type av test on a panel. This is not a criticism of the tests that are preformed on youtube. My view is that I would like to se a broader view of the products. I am an amateur that find theese videos with comparisions between different products very interesting. But lately I have found myself looking for other properties than long term water beading. I wash my car quite often and I have no problem applying some topper or maintenance product often. I have started to look for slickness and glossy looks. I think the industry has to show their products strength. Oh, this was a loooong comment :)

    I'm thinkin' Fusso won that round.......hands down! I do love me some Hydrophobicity! You just gave me some inspiration to go top up my Fusso coat on the daily driver with another coat of the good ole' FUSSO!!! For the money, Fusso really is hard to beat. Good prep is the key to Fusso along with applying as absolutely THIN a layer as you can possibly get onto that paint or you'll be havin' some real problems removing that stuff! Put Fusso on too thick and you might as well get out a sheet of sandpaper to try and remove it! Trust me, i've been there and made that headache of a mistake. GOOD PREP & THIN LAYER and when you remove and do your final buff you'll have one of the most durable sealant finishes on this planet with Fusso, along with one of the most hydrophobic for sure! Fusso is one of the absolute best for hydrophobicity and it LAST'S AND LAST'S through wash after wash. Fantastic product. WAX MODE or NO MODE!!!! I appreciate it Joe! You might be right on that sandpaper too, Fusso definitely has some abrasive resistance and it's interesting too because fluorine based sealants are generally recommended for skiers on their skis that end up getting physically hammered on a regular basis on rough snows. I need to do a lot more testing with Fusso, which I've been abrasive about because I don't have their updated formula which may be a bit watered down compared to my first version tin. Absolutely love Fusso's lasting hydrophobic performance, so satisfying to see in action.

      That's great durability, Fusso has some really good staying power. One of the things that I noticed when working with a lot of sealants over the years, is they were never really as hydrophobic as their carnauba counterparts, yet boasted much stronger durability and protection. Optimum Opti-Seal was a good example of this, Meguiar's M21 Sealant, Chemical Guys Jet Seal, Menzerna Power Lock, etc. Chemists need to find more convincing ways to educate the users of stronger durability, of better performance and paint protection, when the visual indicators of hydrophobic durability aren't quite as strong.

    • @billybob9154
      @billybob9154 3 года назад +1

      I bought three cans of the old fusso when I heard they were coming out with a new version. I am set for life. It is amazing how long it lasts. Trick is to work small sections and put it on thin thinner thinnest. Two coats 24 hrs apart and it last for a year. And that’s with the car sitting outside 24/7. Add an occasional topper and who knows how long it will last.

  • @roscopervis
    @roscopervis 4 года назад +2

    I totally understand what you're saying regarding the protection vs hydrophobics. Whilst the flat/sheeting products may well offer technically better protection, the problem for the average user is knowing when that product is failing. Using an associated topper may well add hydrophobic properties, and these may be magnified under a healthy base layer. However, if you're going to the trouble of applying 2 products, they really need to justify why their particular protective blend is better. Otherwise, impressive single application products like Fusso Coat or Wowo's Crystal Sealant do everything.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Exactly right, and this is also the problem that coatings face like CSL + EXO, or having to buy Syncro to get Mohs with Skin at a much higher cost. All at the same time CQUK 3.0 will provide both the protective durability and lasting hydrophobic performance in one single coating. How much better is the protective components in Mohs and CSL that would convince me to use a much more expensive dual layer approach?

    • @roscopervis
      @roscopervis 4 года назад

      @@WaxMode it's something I've been considering for quite a while. I've no doubt that CSL and Mohs work, though testing these without the topper for chemical resistance is not something I've seen done, and would be difficult for the home detailer given the costs and technicalities no doubt involved.
      In the meantime, I find it very difficult to see past coatings like CQUK 3.0 and Feynlab Ceramic V2 which do it all in the one product.
      Anyways, great work and keep it up!

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +2

      Opti-Seal and OCW I am going to be pulling these out soon for much more focused testing. And this is what I was alluding to, I think Dr. Ghodoussi speaking as an authority on his products is what I want to see more of from specific product blenders and chemists in the future. There's a lot of science behind Optimum, and yet products like Opti-Seal never gave a very lasting durable hydrophobic performance without regular maintenance, which didn't necessarily mean Opti-Seal wasn't an effective and durable paint protectant.
      Pretty much every product I've tested is prone to spotting, even the less hydrophobic products because often the water from the sprinklers is not hitting it with enough volume to flood the paint, so I'll get spotting regardless of hydrophobic levels when the water dries. I haven't seen any significant spotting on these sections so far in this test.

    • @LoveLikeaHurricane
      @LoveLikeaHurricane 4 года назад

      WaxMode correct, I suspect the Opti seal and Opti Car wax has more protection in regards to sun damage than most hydrophobic products. There there are products that shed physical abrasion well and other products that survive a heat gun.

    I found your explanation of hydrophobicoty and protection great. I don't think there has been a RUclipsr who has done such. I would like to hear more detail regatdong this subject. Isn't hydrophobicity a component of protection? I assume repelling is protection.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +2

      A hydrophobic surface can be an indication of lasting protection, but it isn't a requirement. Even unprotected paint when polished and panel wiped can still exhibit decent water beading and water sheeting levels, without any protection applied on top.
      Over the years, I've noticed a large trend in the sealant category where their hydrophobic performance was much less aggressive compared to their carnauba based counterparts. Opti-Seal, Power Lock, Jet Seal, M21, etc. They boasted much better durability and protection, yet the hydrophobic durability didn't correlate.
      There's a component of protection that isn't directly tied to hydrophobicity. And we see this with coatings like Mohs and Crystal Serum Light, where they aren't going to provide the longest hydrophobic durability, but rather require separate toppers in order to combine the protective elements of the base coating along with the strong and lasting hydrophobic element of the top coat, like with Gyeon Skin and Gtechniq EXO.
      You will also have some coatings advertise a separate hydrophobic durability rating (say two years), compared to the actual coating durability rating (five years). And I have certainly seen coatings hydrophobic performance be significantly hindered, that were revived with various toppers. Had I assumed that due to hydrophobic performance alone that these coatings were fully diminished, I would have been mistaken.
      It's a tricky subject, and hopefully we are able to see more chemists begin defining the specific protective capabilities of the products, why they chose this chemistry over other options, and have the scientific research to back up their findings.

    • @ronjondrums5184
      @ronjondrums5184 4 года назад

      WaxMode You’re one of the few testers that I’ve seen actually acknowledge this. Whenever I see others write off a sealant / wax / coating due to the water beading properties fading away, it makes me wonder if that’s a true indicator of its actual durability.
      I agree that it should be more straightforward from the chemists making the products as to where the actual protection lies. How do we truly know when a product is completely gone from the paint surface?

      For maintenance washes I like to use Meguiars D110 Hyper Wash. It’s easy to adjust the strength of Hyper Wash depending on how much dirt and road film is on the customer’s car. On cars with an SiO2 coating I use CarPro Reset.

      Thanks! I have the Ryobi basic 1700psi 1.2GPM model, with the 25ft Kobrajet 3/8" high pressure line, and the MTM SGS-28 gun with the fittings and quick disconnects. Check out Obsessed Garage's website under the pressure washer setups for the upgrades. Outstanding resource, the upgrades completely transformed the utility of the pressure washer and make it much more enjoyable to work with. 25ft on the hose is a bit small, I'd probably go with the 50ft if I could do it over again but it's pricey. Matt did a phenomenal job on the research to figure out what to offer for us that works perfectly.

    My thoughts for a year of protection ( I live Ontario Canada..both vehicles are more or less daily drivers ,,,, so for a year of protection I’m thinking Fusso 12 months with BeadMaker for a topper ... does this make sense ?? Thanks again for your thoughts and great explanations ... really enjoy your video’s !

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      Hey Bruce, I would avoid Bead Maker with Fusso Coat. When I tried topping a fresh section of Fusso on the test panel, I did see a pretty noticeable drop in hydrophobic performance with this combo. Rather something like Hybrid Ceramic Detailer would be a better option for maintaining Fusso, but I'll see if I can pull it back out on the test hood and run some more toppers on it to see what else would be a better fit.
      Also, Fusso should still get pretty hammered during the winter months up in Canada, I would try and run an application of Fusso right before the weather turns cold, and then reapply once the weather warms back up.

      Thanks for the warning I appreciate it ... I’ll wait on your tests then ... I have a few months ..as for now it has TW Hybrid Polish and Wax and a coat of TW Hybrid Spray wax ... they said I should be good for year but .... do I trust that

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      I'm getting great durability so far with both the Ceramic Polish & Wax and the Ceramic Spray Coating on the blue test Honda. But I would aim to reapply the Spray Coating every three months, or maintain on a regular basis with Ceramic Wet Wax and reapply the Spray Coating at 6 months.

    I haven't tried nearly as much as you have, but I have tried a good amount of sealants and waxes, and a few coatings. I have yet to try anything that, short of a coating, performs and lasts like Soft 99 Fusso Coat.

    I agree with your points on protection being a general term. Less hydrophobic but more durable? Great, just educate us weekend warriors(by way of product labeling) so we can make informed choices.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Thanks Mark, I just think there's a lot of room in the market for chemists to step out of the shadows and begin educating the enthusiasts and professionals about the actual performance traits of the protectants they've chosen, amidst a wide range of options, to blend as their protectant of choice. Ethos and Lithium to me both have attractive branding, they can quench hydrophobic thirst with additional toppers but someone has to sell the advantage of selecting Pro Ceramic Wax or Seal & Squeal as THE sealant of choice for me to use as my base coat, knowing that I have a crowded market of products to choose from.

    Doesn't carpro reset degrade waxes?

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      This is Avi from CarPro's response on the forum for Reset when used as a maintenance wash: "I will add that its good to use for any car wash, not only coated ! diluting it in the right ratio , in a bucket makes it pH neutral so on other sealants and more durable waxes or synthetic types it will not strip them off as well."

    Wouldn't it be easier to use TW Ice every few washes ?

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      My philosophy is I want that strong base coat protectant to fill the protection role, and then follow up with a lighter maintenance topper to build up or maintain gloss/slickness/hydrophobicity on a regular basis. Something like Seal N Shine is very heavy, I'm not going to want to use this for maintenance on a regular basis, although you could get away with doing so, but I would rather have Seal N Shine as the base and follow up with Ice Spray Wax for maintenance.
      Because Seal N Shine is so heavy as well, it's not my preferred choice for using on highly polished paint after hours of correction. Seal & Squeal applies and buffs off much cleaner and easier, with much less tendency to streak especially on black paint. So you've got tradeoffs of going solely with Seal N Shine, and you've got tradeoffs of really needing that topper with Seal & Squeal if you want to build up a hydrophobic surface that lasts.

    Here’s the thing. If I can’t see it I don’t believe it no matter what the chemist say. With Fusso you can see it and you don’t need an explanation or disclaimer or someone saying oh my product is better for your car you just can’t see it. Ethos and Lithium are no match for Fusso in this test.
