      Thanks Christopher! I've got 601, 105, 111, and Aquawax in the collection, I pull them out every now and then to play around with. Aquawax is quite nice to work with, leaves a nice slick surface behind on the paint. I opened 111 and 105 up many years ago, would be worried about the shelf life at this point and I know those bottles aren't sealed as tight with the caps, every time I shook 111 and 105 I'd get a little bit leaking out of the top of the caps. Last time I used them they didn't feel as slick as the first few times I pulled them out.

    • @AmirAbdullah
      @AmirAbdullah 4 года назад +1

      WaxMode be careful once you buy Xtreme polishes it can become habit forming. But the 358 is actually what Magnum came from, 358 Guardian is a older Wax originally designed for Airplanes. So it’s crazy durable for a liquid wax. Magnum is basically a light form of 358 Guardian. In the early days of Guardian it was a great wax but it’s formula was so rich application was a issue. Hence Magnum the light version of Guardian. Hahah Origin story of wax that’s mad funny to me. Anyhow very similar but Guardian feels slightly heavier needs about a half hour to set before wipe off. But like Magnum wipe off is effortless. Maybe just a hair more to it. The wipe off I mean. Shine and gloss will go to Magnum but durability will go to Guardian. I love both. Beading is inane with two coats. Top them with two coats of PolySeal a hour between them and you’ll see coating like beading. Currently pushing 3months on the Miata and looks like it’s nowhere near done. Check the Xtreme Solutions Facebook and you’ll see the Miata and I also post a picture of the hood and the 403 I used to finish the polish.

    • @AmirAbdullah
      @AmirAbdullah 4 года назад +2

      Jay Zstr Shine and Gloss goes to Magnum by a hair , Guardian will last longer. If you ask me each looks best with two coats topped with PolySeal. Just do a panel wipe with IPA before your first coat of whatever you use Magnum or Guardian and PolySeal. I get the best results from that.

    WaxMode, I just wanted to thank you for your suggestion of Prep-All. I used it to make sure that when I started polishing there was nothing on the paint. The paint was so pristine that a tunnel carwash ended up leaving non-destructive spots after a speedy drive. In other words, there was zero on the paint.
    Then I polished with Sonax Perfect Finish, which is idiot proof. Then more Prep-All. By golly, the result was sublime.

    Thanks for the great review. I've got some Poly Seal and it's a good product at it's price point, but as you say here, I've definitely seen other products that are much more hydrophobic. I, like you, am ALL ABOUT THE HYDROPHOBICS! That's probably the main feature of a product that moves my senses. I want to see that great hydrophobics. After seeing this video, the product I want to get my hands on now is the Magnum Wax. That stuff looked great. The fact that you could technically over apply the product somewhat and still get that incredible wipe off is incredible. Not that I would intentionally over apply a product, but some consumers or weekend detailers might. The fact that if they did, and could still get a great wipe off is really great. And the durability of Magnum at up to six months is totally worth the price. This would be a great all around wax for the everyday person just wanting to wash a vehicle and get some basic protection on their vehicle. Looks like a perfect place for this wax.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      Cheers Joe, I appreciate your recommendation for me to try Poly-Seal out! Very fun to use, and I agree that feature with Magnum Wax that makes it so easy to work with is crucial for me when I'm looking for a liquid paint sealant. I'm still on the hunt for a liquid sealant that is crazy hydrophobic, while being as easy to use as something like Magnum Wax, or Power Lock, or Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. I've got my eyes on Meguiar's new M27 sealant to see if it can fill this role.

    never heard of a wax over a sealant...everyone has always rec the other way around....keep in mind the magnum is primarily an acrylic/resin formula(hence the cure time - cure time for wax doesnt apply)...and works well on top of xtreme sol polishes and sealants....always thought it was wax over si02 not the other way around.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      For me, I'm more likely to apply the more durable protectant on the paint first, as opposed to the less durable protectant. So even though they call it Magnum "Wax", I treat it as if it was a durable liquid paint sealant with a 6+ month durability rating. Poly-Seal they list up to 3 months of protection out of it, which is why I would be using this as a maintenance topper for Magnum.

    Great, great video. Comprehensive and full of perspective.
    My thoughts on the marketing bit: I partially disagree, but it’s more on strategy than delivery. I love the simplicity of the product presentation (per bottle), but don’t like the long menu of choices. I think I understand why they have so many categories of products (traditional vs modern ingredients perhaps), but to a set of fresh eyes that menu can be dizzying.
    What I love is that they are NOT like Ethos or the big hitters, with this Michael Bay-esque look of CGI graphics and refinement. You memorize LVR-304 because everyone who uses it loves what’s actually inside the bottle. And in theory, that approach lowers the price per bottle because they aren’t wasting time investing in bottle appearance...yet are focusing on the car’s appearance.
    If you get what you wish for there might be fewer products, but the better those products themselves look, kiss affordability goodbye. And for someone looking for a reliable product line as a detailing business, it really could matter when buying inventory.
    Thanks again for such great content.

      I prefer that more durable protectant on the paint first after I've polished the paint out and it's bare. That is the main line of defense and I want it to bond to the highest level without any barrier in between it. That is why I would apply Magnum Wax first, as it has a 6+ month durability timeframe, as opposed to Poly-Seal's 3 month durability timeframe.

    Thanks for testing Poly Seal. So many great products available now. Could you rank the following products in order of how you like them? Poly Seal, Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax, Hybrid Solutions Spray Coating, Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Wax and Beadmaker. I have not tried Beadmaker, Poly Seal or the Griots 3 in 1 but, my favorite is Hybrid Solutions Spray Coating then following with Wet Wax after washes.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +3

      That's definitely a tough one Robert! I'll throw Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer in the list in the first rank spot. Followed up with Bead Maker, then Hybrid Ceramic Wax, then Poly-Seal, then Griot's 3-in-1, then Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating.
      My number one form of protection is a paint coating, and I prefer maintenance toppers that I can apply dry to best complement those coatings for maintenance washes. Hybrid Ceramic Detailer fits that role perfectly, Bead Maker has also proven to fill that role very well in my tests, it's a great slickness enhancer, wipes off really well, great gloss left behind.
      Hybrid Ceramic Wax and Poly-Seal are both wet application products and it's a close toss-up between the two of them, HCW has one of the best smells on the market for me and has a slightly better hydrophobic potential compared to Poly-Seal. And I haven't tested Poly-Seal's performance yet on top of the coatings.
      Griot's Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax and Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating are both good standalone protectants, but they're heavy and they're likely to interfere with the base layer paint coating to a significant level, so I'm not reaching for those as often.
      If I remove the coating as my base protectant, the list above can change dramatically, so a lot of this depends on my perspective.

      WaxMode thanks for the reply. I know you don’t have a lot of free time. Yes, Meguiars HCW has an unbelievably wonderful smell. The only other product that rivals it that I have tried is not a wax but, instant detailer. It’s Optimum Instant Detailer and Gloss Enhancer. It smells like delicious bubble gum. Pretty good detailer too! I have never tried a true paint coating. I don’t consider Hybrid Solutions Spray Coating a true coating but, a really great product. The depth and gloss is unmatched on my Ruby Red paint so far. I wash and top my car so frequently, I don’t really need a true coating. Then again, if I tried one, I may fall in love with it! You really give Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Detailer super high marks. When I use up all these bottles of Hybrid Solutions Wet Wax I may have to give it a try. You are truly educating people like me on these products and how to use them best and I really do appreciate it. Thanks so much for all your demonstrations and testing.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +3

      Frank Martinez - I would not top Gyeon One with Can Coat, it really doesn’t need it in order to get strong performance. One is designed to be a single coat coating. Cure is the only recommended topper after the 1 hour cure time to help prevent the coating from really sealing in water spots if they land on the paint before One fully cures. I’m likely to skip the Cure topper as well until later on down the road.
      Can Coat and Gyeon One are alternatives, not complements, and I would lean towards Can Coat as opposed to Gyeon One, unless Gyeon has recently updated One to make its application much more user-friendly compared to what I experienced when it was first released. I did a forum review on One a few years ago here which summarizes my thoughts: www.autopia.org/forums/detailing-product-reviews/188973-gyeon-impressions-gyeon-booster-testing.html
      If for whatever reason you would want to top One with Can Coat, I would wait a minimum of 24 hours. One gave me great performance and awesome durability, but it’s entirely outperformed by coatings like CQUK in my experience.

      The black and yellow ones are the Autogeek Gold Plush Jr's, always enjoyed them and I'll usually buy a stack when Autogeek is running a stupid crazy microfiber sale. My neighbor had the black and yellow CG's and I think these Gold Plush Jr's were a higher quality blend. Then I have a bunch of the cheaper yellow Kirkland microfibers that I use often, especially if the spray sealant I'm working with tends to clog the towels up quickly. Kirklands are a pain to tear those tags off, but if you get a good batch then the price is pretty good.

      Expected durability is 3 months from Poly-Seal, and 6+ months for the Magnum Wax. I don't have them brewing on the test cars yet, maybe when I get through testing some of the current ones I might cycle these on the paint.

    Do you think these products are better than Groits Products for I just love their three in one ceramic wax. Let me know

      Griot's Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax is very good, nice and durable, but much different compared to Poly-Seal. Poly-Seal I would much rather prefer to use it as a maintenance topper with the wet application, Griot's Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax I'm only going to use it as a base layer protectant, it bonds very effectively to bare paint.

    I could care less about the bottle, and how it looks or smells.. give me something that works and tht I can depend on when I reach for it. I only care about what's in the bottle.

      It's funny some of my earlier videos got temporarily demonetized because I was using "Strip Wash" in the title of the video! Haha!
