Quick fire tips on Dry Skin: Timeless Habits to Adopt to Battle Xerosis

- This quick video is for the millions out there with dry skin or xerosis cutis. It is a very common issue for our children/babies and our elderly patients. If dry skin is not controlled, it can progress to a rapidly spreading bout of eczema or atopic dermatitis. This inflammatory skin condition can spread like wildfire and needs to be treated by a dermatologist immediately to prevent worsening of the condition and to prevent bacterial infections.
In order to manage dry skin, we need to form good habits starting from our daily showers. Many feel like the hot water is soothing for their itchy dry skin but we need to do the opposite as this can cause harm to our epidermis and lipid layer that retains moisture.
I will not only mention cleansers but moisturizers/emollients for your face and body.
Avoid frequent showers/baths and avoid harsh soaps as well as HOT water! Also, keep your showers to less than 10 minutes!
