Should i get this game? I heard a lot about it, and haven't really been a fan of Mario RPG games, but i have played them, my favorite being the Mario and Luigi series, mainly Mario and Luigi Dream Team. But i seriously want to know what the hypes about because i did not play the original
honetly, this game puts the newer ones to shame. you really NEED to buy this game if you like mario at all
I have loved both M&L (especially BIS and Dream Team) and Paper Mario TTYD in my childhood and youth. They are definitely distinct in battle system, humor etc., but for me they are equally quirky, fun and satisfying to play. With TTYD you will look more precisely at how much damage points your and the enemies' attacks will make. Nothing to worry about though IMO. I cannot guarantee you will like it as much, if course, but I strongly recommend you give it a try :)
I highly recommend it. I grew up with Paper Mario. I have been with the series since the original game on the N64, and to me, nothing tops Thousand Year Door. It is not only my favorite Paper Mario game but my favorite GameCube game of all time. The story is pretty good, the characters are very well written, and the combat is quite fun. It's definitely worth giving a try.
This game is the best mario game. There’s so much you can do. You can just beat the game OR 💯 the game. Do all the tattles, find all the badges and make all the different recipes. It’s much more satisfying to 💯 the game. You’ll be playing for a long time if you don’t rush the game. So many different strategies for this game. You need to buy it as it’s a classic. Still have my GameCube version
It's a great game that feels like watching a movie. Honestly, I never played it but I watched my brother play it in 2004. I'm not going to spoil it but there is a part where one can get stuck for an hour or so. That puzzle was hard.
A return to the good of paper mario
I keep imagine a Mario & Luigi Game, where they cross over with Sonic the Hedgehog as an origin to their bond. Does that sound not good?
I'd rather a platformer crossover for Mario and Sonic. If they did an RPG, the Mario side of things would likely be homogenized like in Paper Jam.

It's not a remake, it's a remaster, a remake is is where they expand and add new things, there was a lot of cut content from the GameCube that didn't make it due to hardware limitations

yes, with all the turmoil coming from modern games except for TOK imo, classic fans deserve this win, they should get what they needed for a long time, and that is a classic paper mario game reborn, i even get to experience this game as a modern paper marip player only having played TOK, i'm very excited to play a classic paper mario game.
Yep been playing this on my steamdeck for a while now. Nice to be able to revisit it, without having to pay 70$ this time.

I'm going to retell you the story of the Thousand Year Door....
Even as someone who liked the new era i'm still happy for the others that didnt like the new era.
While Super Paper Mario did ditch the turn based battle system of the old games and tried something new, i do like to group with with the classic games because it retains the same kinda story, worldbuilding, original characters and charm that they had
This game in part is how we got together. I had already beaten the game 💯 and we worked together. I asked her at work what she was doing after work. She said playing paper Mario TTYD. I told her I loved that game and beat it already. So when she had questions about the game she would call me up and I’d walk her through where to go. We nearly beat it together just a few more badges to find but that’s our game. I also showed her the power rush badge strategy. She had no clue. We ordered this already. There’s so much you can do in this game. If you haven’t played it you gotta go get it. It’s more fun if you 💯 it. Make all the recipes find all the badges, do all the tattles etc.
It’s time for the GOAT of RPGs to return!
I can't wait to play this game again, I actually still have it for the GameCube but I can't wait to see what they do with the remake version and relive my childhood all over again

I live in the MST time zone so I’ll be playing late this evening after I get off of work. While I personally would have wanted a Paper Mario 64 remake first, I am beyond excited for this game. I still have fond memories of picking this up back in 2004 when I was in elementary school. I imagine that I’ll be playing it over and over for years to come.

Absolutely buy this game, even if you aren’t a huge fan of Paper Mario, I will personally apologize if this isn’t the game that changes your mind. HUGE recommendation from someone who’s played the original on GameCube about a dozen times. This game is an absolute staple in the Mario franchise, as well as from my childhood. The countless hours of enjoyment I got even AFTER beating the game- from the pure love of the characters, drawing them for hours while listening to the ost, and talking with a passionate community who also enjoyed the game, it’s nothing short of an experience in my opinion

I only played the original game for a few hours, emulated. I think it's a bummer that it's not at 60fps, but that's not a big deal at all. Just would've been rad. Any way, can't wait. I'm going to play through it with my five year old.

I was 9 when paper Mario came out and I’m 29 now this year I’m so happy this game is coming out again on switch. I can’t wait to have another adventure to collect the seven crystal stars set sale for rougport boys 😄

I think if they remade origami king and color splash with a new and better battle system they would be just as good as the originals.
I gotta say that Origami king is my favorite paper Mario game but I haven’t played ttyd of all games so it’s likely that it will top it

I’ve never liked paper Mario because my first impression of it was sticker star and I had just finished playing bowsers inside story so I was like wth is this no levels? To celebrate the didn't earn it nonsense that was injected like heroin into this title, I've cancelled my pre-order, gotten my money back, and I'm playing the original game tomorrow.
I wanted an Ultimate Version that combines the First two Paper Mario Games together.
My dad somehow got a copy TODAY. Sadly he is playing it but so I can't but he got it early.

@@theprotnt596 nice, i have only played some of the og because the wii i was playing it on was gliching and stuff and makeing a wierd high pitched noise, not from the wii but from the game itself, and the colors were all wierd.

I’m not absolutely sure that this is a step to the old formula (as much as I would love that to be the case)… to me it feels more like “Paper Mario has gone in another direction, but for those who miss the old games, here’s a bone for you. Now stop complaining about it.” I know the survey existed and everything but I don’t know if that really means anything since it wasn’t supposed to reach a large audience. I really hope I’m wrong, since TTYD has always been my favourite game of all time since I played it on the wii (backwards compatibility), but I don’t have a good feeling about it.
