One of the best hacks for grease stains I’ve found is generously sprinkling baby powder over the spots (on still dry clothing) rub it in to make sure it’s covering the stain and let it sit overnight. Toss it in the wash the next morning and the stains are always gone.

It worked like a charm, one of my favorite dressy outfits was saved thanks to this home hack. Thank you so much!
I saw your video and tried your method. I got oil splatter on two of my almost new, favorite t-shirts. Success! Though I did leave my t-shirts with Dawn and baking soda 3-4 days to penetrate. I only did the treatment once but I took my time with a tooth brush gently scrubbing over and over on the spots. Do not scrub too hard so not to break fabric fibers or create pilling. You saved me from throwing my two shirts away. Thank you so much! Gave you thumbs up and subscribed.
Thank you for the video! We all have to share tips to help each other! For me...The original blue Dawn is the best for removing grease on its own! I bought a Nike collegiate hoodie dirt cheap bc it had grease stains all over it and laid it on my kitchen counter and soaked it in blue Dawn and let it sit for days and then tossed it in the wash. It came out almost 100% clean. I retreated some areas and used my fingernails to scrub a little and now it's perfect. I have used Dawn, white vinegar and baking soda to remove underarm stains on some shirts and it works!

The only small difference is that I put the detergent on top and let them all sit together instead of rubbing in the detergent prior to the wash. If you’re talking about your own clothing, it shouldn’t have lost color due to this method - especially since I only used common, safe household products. Let me know, I’m happy to help if possible!
Does it work with white t shirts
Also just tried to so hopefully it works 🤞
It should work with any color shirt! As outlined in the video, you may have to do it a few times. I hope it works for you! Thanks for watching and good luck! 🤞🏻
Good tip. Works well. Saves having to replace your clothes
Glad to hear it worked out for you. Thanks for watching!
does this work on dried stains tho
It should, give it a whirl!
these are all my shirts each laundry day, i need an easy to put on/take off chef's apron. the cleaner companies need to start selling a jumbo bottle and formulation for just us greasers, thats a lot of effort for just the one sweater, id have like 29 more to go, lucky these are all horribly tacky novelty shirts for house pajamas anyway
DeanRendar84 I hear ya! It definitely takes some work and is not sustainable to do all the time. I’m not aware of an effective, off-the-shelf product that works as well though. 🤷🏼♂️ I’d be more than happy to try one though!
JUST A HEADS UP - if you scrub too hard you’ll lift the dye of your clothing out as well as the stain. I learned this the hard way on my favorite sweatshirt. Life. Goes. On…?
Totally joking by the way I’ll get over it!
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that was your experience and led you astray!
Does it work with black?
Yes, it should work on most fabrics/colors. Just be cognizant of any fabrics with dyes that transfer (think denim) when using this method. Thanks for watching and good luck!
I've had great success by vigorously rubbing a wet bar of Sunlight on the grease-spot prior to washing. Also took me 2 cycles, but it was very easy
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Will this work after I already washed it?
@@steve4321able yes, but it may take a couple of cycles
I love the results although it got cleaner area.. I wouldn’t say it ruined my shirt it just made it brighter
Is it ok if I use the 4x dawn platnium?
Yes, it doesn’t matter so long as it’s some type of degreaser
Just tried it can’t believe it worked really well Ty!!!
I did this method but i guess i scrubbed it to hard now the grease spot is a faded spot on a grey hoodie, any recommendations how to fix that?
Really? Dang. Was it some kind of garment dyed material? Sorry, I don’t have any tips for that right now but will look into it and let you know if I come across anything,
@@gcfun yea it’s actually a Adidas x Daniel Patrick Grey hoodie I believe I scrubbed it to hard and the color kinda faded out on the spot, I wonder if i were to re dye it if it would somehow bring it back to how it was. But yea that’s my fault, They method you showed works great just messed up on my end haha
Same here ☹️ don’t scrub too hard
Jackson Pollock
Oh, a fellow sophisticate
Just dropped a bagel with butter on my new hoodie from my boyfriend 🙈. Fingers crossed this works!!
Thoroughly rinse it off first. Then follow this method and keep me posted! 🤞🏻
Damn, I just took it out the washer before coming across this video. The stains are still there but now my shirt is moist. Should I use this technique now or wait for the washed shirt to fry before applying your method
No need to wait! You can apply this method now. You may need to do it a couple of times. Hope it works for you.
@@gcfun hey This worked!!! I left it over night( it was night when I commented) and it worked
I used blue dish soap and now I have blue stains on my t-shirt
Make sure it’s rinsing well.
I literally bought a new hoodie then spilt garlic sauce on it and it made grease stays in so pissed this shut better work 😭
I don't understand why you washed the sweatshirt in cold water... Wouldn't it work better to wash the garment in hot water? I must be missing something
Hot water makes clothing shrink
@@Inmate533 yep, this is why I always wash stuff in cold water! Thanks for watching!
I always wash my clothes on 30 °C and it works fine?
@@elmao4927 yeah, I think it’s somewhat preferential. I distinctly remember a few articles of mine shrinking when washing with warm water. Then I made the switch and only use cold water now. Whatever floats your boat. Then there are times that you need warm water to help bust up a stain, but for me when I do regular washing, I just use cold. 🤷🏼♂️
@@gcfun I guess it's better for the environment as well so I'll try it sometime :)
Should I wash the greased clothes alone or am I able to wash it with others?
You can wash them with other clothes.
SHOULD you air dry or can you use the machine?
Some people say the heat from the dryer will set stains in, which is why my preference is to air dry
@@gcfun the method worked and got the stain out thank you! I used the machine tho, Used medium setting just to be sure
@@useless2825 awesome, so glad to hear it! Thanks for watching!
Does this work for old grease stains
I can’t say for sure, but you can try it! Let me know how it goes if you do.
Does this work on nylon jackets ?
I would think so although I’ve never tried it. It can’t hurt to try it!
What about jeans
Yes, if you follow the same steps, it should work for jeans. Hope it helps!
I’m gonna try this, I already did it and it’s sitting now. So I’ll update in a few hours
Update: IT WORKED HOLY SHIT 😭😭
I hope it works for you! 🤞🏻
Does this work on stains of life?
Maybe so.
Thanks! My mom has this really cute pair of pink pants and she decided to use them for WORK PANTS😒 I’m going to rescue them because they’re cute and I want them but I need to get the grease out first😭
Hope the video helps - thanks for watching!
Thank you! And I appreciate your honesty😀
Thanks for watching!
Why cold water over hold water!??!
I generally use cold water, as warm or hot water can potential shrink cotton garments.
Can I use baking powder instead of baking soda.....
No. Very different.
@@gcfun But I tried and it works in my jacket.
@@walingvlogs6711 really? Well that’s great! I’ll have to remember that.
I spilt food on my Dare shirt and I guess it's working. thanks for the tips
rub some cocaine and bleach on it and the grease stain will magically disappear
This worked for me. Thanks!
Awesome, glad it worked! Thanks for watching.
Yeah used baking soda and it fucked in my clothes
Sorry to hear that. What kind of material are your clothes? Baking soda is a safe ingredient for most fabrics, which is even why it’s in a lot of detergents.
For the second time, did you put detergent on when you let is rest for a few days
Yes, I reapplied detergent with the baking soda each time. Thanks for watching, I hope the video helps!
Does this work with chapstick stains as well?
I know this is a delayed response and you may have gotten your answer, but that’s a good question. I would say it’s worth a try considering these are everyday household items that aren’t harmful.
Going to try this tonight, just got a grease stain on my Astros Jersey 😭
Good luck! Let me know how it turns out and thanks for watching.
does this work even after heavy dryer cycle? does this damage the clothing some?
It’s preferable that you don’t dry the garment, because the heat from the dryer can set the stain in. I think you can still get out the grease, but it may take a few more rounds of the method I outlined in my video. I hope it works for you!
