Great video! I can't argue with your results, which were of course spectacular, however... I've been using automotive hand cleaner, GoJo and the like for over 30 years for removing grease and oil stains from clothing of all types with seemingly equal results to your method. I can't say for absolute certain that hand cleaner works as well on whites, since I honestly don't wear whites while working with oils, grease, postal cancellation grade inks, etc, but I can honestly say that with colors, I have never failed to remove such stains, nor have any affected articles of clothing suffered discoloration. The key to success with the automotive hand cleaner is to catch and treat such stains before they enter the wash. If an article of clothing makes it through the wash still stained, finding its way in to the dryer, it's pretty much done. With the hand cleaner, I simply rub a generous amount into the stain from both sides of the material and let it sit for a day. I throw the article of clothing in with the wash the next day. The time it takes to treat stained clothing depends on the damage. A stain such as you demonstrated takes less than a minute of rubbing in hand cleaner. Heavily oil soaked Jeans, on the other hand, may take up to 20 minutes. I don't think there are enough hours in the day to make this mineral spirits method of cleaning worthwhile on a heavily oil soaked pair of jeans. I am almost tempted to stain a white T-shirt with used motor oil, then treat with hand cleaner and throw it in the wash the next day, but since I always use bleach on whites, I would expect good results all the same. If anybody has tried it on whites and had other than good results, I'd like to know. I like that you show an alternative method to those products designed specifically for cleaning laundry stains because to honest, not one of those products that my wife has ever tried actually works. I tried to clean right away with Dawn but it left a larger, still visible stain. i agree, try and blot out any excess first instead of smearing more in. 7 hours later i saw your hack online and tried it. Thanks for the video had automotive black grease. An it works can’t believe it. Got it all out I didn’t do the second step with the dishwashing liquid. Just through it in the washer. Everything was good
So if I was in the automotive industry, always messing with oil/grease what's the best clothing material avoid stain or at least less hassle later to clean?
I just noticed two black smears on the inner, right leg of my light grey, flannel winter slacks. The legs are cuffed at the bottom and the leg not bulky, because the pants were made to be worn inside knee high boots if desired. The marks appear to be sitting on top of the fabric without being absorbed or penetrating the fabric very much, if at all. Your method shows how to run the cleaners and hot water through the fabric, because the stains were wetter and actually absorbed into the fabric itself. What should I do differently, so I can clean off the smears without forcing the grease into the fabric. These are my only cold weather pants, and if possible, I need to wash them in my load tonight, so I can wear tomorrow. Please Help! It's very cold lately and snowing tonight. This video was the best I have ever seen on car grease stains, and I plan to try it on some colored shirts that have several spots that look like cooking or food oil on them that no stain remover, or even Fantastic would get out. Not hopeful, because they have been washed and dried several times. I don't even really know what these "colorless" stains are, but think it's worth a shot. Thanks for a great video. Dee
You can try facing the stain down against a highly absorbent white paper towel, then press the other side using an hot iron. If you're lucky, the stain will transfer into the paper towel. No guarantee...
Amazing!! I'm going to try it on my white dress that got car grease on the hem :-( Here's hoping it works for me. The stain is a few days old....will that affect the results?
Just spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner on the spot and let it drip through until all dissolved and dripped away. It's basically like a drycleaning solution.

It should work on all fabrics. If the item is colored, then go easy with the brushing or you'll fade the color when the oil has been removed! Use more blotting.
In that case, try non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner with a paper towel behind the stained area. When done, wash again using warm/hot water. Thanks for watching!

Trying to flip through all the comments here to see if you mentioned that this works on motor oil that has been on jeans and been washed and dried repeatedly and still stained? I'm going to try it anyways but if you have time please respond
Hi, Thanks for the video. Quite informative. My fav jeans is one week old with grease, Just purchased something labelled standard thinner from the hardware..told its the same as paint thinner. I am really struggling trying to remove it..cant see any changes yet, is it that the oil is too old and too late to remove? Thanks
The best stain remover for oil I have used is eucalyptus oil the stain disappears before your eyes then all you have to do is use neat washing up liquid then wash as normal

Thank You brother. I was tensed after I saw Motor oil spot on jeans yesterday. I hope this would help me remove them all. I will check and update you. Thanks for your help.
Don't brush too much or you'll fade the color of your jeans. Blot more instead.
@@electronicsNmore Thank You Brother. Your attentiveness will pull you to New heights. Surely I will take care of that. God bless u.

"my good clothes" Well there's your problem ; -)
Thanks for this iv just got grease all over the back of my work shirt brushed up against the front of the train I really hope this works well
If it doesn't, then try non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner. Thanks for watching!
Oh noooo! That was a heart-shaped stain, I would have told my girl that I made that heart-stain just for her. But never the less that was a great job explaining that, and I was just kidding. Seriously, did that look like heart to anyone?
Yes...lol ❤
I thought it’s Mickey Mouse 🐭 head
DALAGANG PILIPINA yea more like a Mickey Mouse head 🤗😂
My thoughts exactly oil🖤
Thanks for the video had automotive black grease. An it works can’t believe it. Got it all out I didn’t do the second step with the dishwashing liquid. Just through it in the washer. Everything was good
Glad it helped Jack! Be sure to share my videos with others. Thanks
@@electronicsNmore bro what is this liquid can u name ittt
That’s a lot of work to save a wife beater. 😂
It was perfect for the demo. Thanks for watching!
Ita demo you twit, you need a beaten
So if I was in the automotive industry, always messing with oil/grease what's the best clothing material avoid stain or at least less hassle later to clean?
Wow...great clip....just saved my fav sweater and short...love it...thanks heaps

No guarantee...
what about silk and soft material like a red dress would that technic work on it...
+Kenyatta Sims
Should work, but test first on an area of the material that is not easy seen.
+electronicsNmore
okay thanks!
You got motor oil on a silk red dress?
@@officermeowmeowfuzzyface4408 It couldve been any oil. Food oils etc. I got organic coconut oil on my dress and it sucks hopefully this will help
Non-chlorinated brake cleaner is good also. Thanks for watching!
Wow man. thank you. Saved one of my favorite shirts! Great method. Worked awesome.

that is so good! Now, I can stain my clothes without worrying from my wife's scolding.
What would you suggest for burnt grease stains in a lime green T-shirt? It's a cotton shirt.
Wat if the stain is old
Should work. You have nothing to lose anyway. :-)
how to remove oil stains
what is mineral spirit I'm from philippines
Paint thinner.
Paint thinner is also called White Spirit
Mineral Spirits are no longer sold in California. Would Paint Thinner work? Thank you.
does it work in a 100% polyester?
i went to the gym and had oil stain from the machine im using.
It should work on all fabrics. If the item is colored, then go easy with the brushing or you'll fade the color when the oil has been removed! Use more blotting.
Tfs, Can This be done after clothes have been washed in washing machine?
In that case, try non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner with a paper towel behind the stained area. When done, wash again using warm/hot water. Thanks for watching!
electronicsNmore Tx for answer ! ( i love my speedylac, but it does not go together with nice pants😐).
I am from Bangladesh. Where I can get mineral spirit in my country? Is there any alternative of it? plz reply me early.. Thanks In Advance..
White Spirits
Petrol (Gasoline) should also work I guess!!
carb cleaner, brake cleaners work too
Good vid on carpet I do the blotting methode with Oxyclean my son my son left many small stains on the carpet from his juice cup it worked. Thanks for sharing.
It works an absolute treat, even if I do have to literally smuggle mineral spirits in from out of state. :D
Hello, could you tell me the brand or the name of mineral spirit/ paint thinner you used in the video? I search it and many results about thinner for acrylic paint show up, but I don't know if they're the right one.
Thank you for saving my brand new jeans!
What if the oil is dry?
Hello there. Oil usually never dries, unless it's an oil based paint. Old oil stains could be removed, but it's more difficult. Thanks for watching!
electronicsNmore it's oil which mechanic use so it's oil from a car
Awesome going to try this on some old jeans. Have dried paint, going to use some isopropyl alcohol for that.
Non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner also works great.
You think this will work on timberland boots
I've used pure mineral spirits on everything, and never had any problem. It's up to you.
electronicsNmore what about on a north face bag
what about on my versace suede earring / flotation device?
I tried it...and it's done within seconds....thanks🙏
Great 👍

@@maianhpham9724 I have used turpentine oil. It's just the oil paint's thinner oil that's always available on paint shops and are very cheap in price.

does it work on oil stains over 24 hours old? works very well on fresh stains as you demonstrated. good video
+tooterr101 oldgeezer
Yes. Works very well. Far better than anything you buy in the store for oily stains.
Thanks For Watching!
Nice vid. This might work for me, but not going to work on my husband's clothes. His is completely covered in different oils from work. Need something for entire wash load.
Excellent service very good did enjoy
Trying to flip through all the comments here to see if you mentioned that this works on motor oil that has been on jeans and been washed and dried repeatedly and still stained? I'm going to try it anyways but if you have time please respond
Thankyou👍 this method seems effective and the least fuss
Hi, Thanks for the video. Quite informative. My fav jeans is one week old with grease, Just purchased something labelled standard thinner from the hardware..told its the same as paint thinner. I am really struggling trying to remove it..cant see any changes yet, is it that the oil is too old and too late to remove? Thanks
Mineral spirits should remove the grease. Use a spray bottle and keep blotting. Don't rub too much, or you'll fade the color of the fabric.
My man! GREAT method!
The best stain remover for oil I have used is eucalyptus oil the stain disappears before your eyes then all you have to do is use neat washing up liquid then wash as normal
Dude, you're a genius!

Amazing.... however, i had a hydraulic fluid leak on my convertible roof lining... how do i fix THAT???? HELLLP!!
What would you suggest for a faux leather sofa with oil on ?
I usually spray the stain with purple power or similar and hope for the best. I'm going to try this next time.
Motor oil & grease is not easy to get off but carosene oil did magic after dipping for 20 minutes.use brush and carosene oil drop by drop on stain on a fabric folded pad.use dish wash to remove grease and wash out.after that use this pad to polish your furniture.
Thx!...and can I also apply this colored clothes?
Yes, but use more blotting instead of brushing. You don't want to create a faded area. Be sure to share the video link with friends. Thank you!

My riding jacket got alot of dirt stains from the road which i use it everyday. My riding jacket i been using it for almost a year now. I've tried alot of products, nothing seems to work. Finally i came across this video. I can give it a try on my stain jacket which almost a year hahaha. Thanks @electronicsNmore for this video!
Did it work?
Mate I got a cooking grease stain on my white trainers do you think this method would work ?
Try non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner with a paper towel held behind the fabric, then wash.
can use it on color shorts or anything color my husband got motor stain on his blue shorts and I need to know if it'll work on color clothes but I love the video
It will work on colors also, the only thing you have to worry about is fading the oil stained area from excessive brushing of the fabric. Use a VERY soft toothbrush, and blot the fabric more than brushing it. Like anything else, always test on an inconspicuous area first. Thanks For Watching!
Thanks coz of this video finally removed scalator grease from my favourite long skirt.

You are sooo beautiful and sexy
I did this with a pair of light tan denim shorts that were stained by the greasy-oil from my tractors. It works, however, I then had to put them through four wash cycles with some regular detergent in order to get the horrible smell from the mineral spirits out.
No, you have to keep blotting the area by hand with clean soapy water before washing, otherwise the odor gets all over the clothing.
Thanks going to try this on my brand new 900$ fxr mono suit cracked the chain case on my snowmobile first time wearing the suit and got oil stain on it and made me really pissed off 🤬🤬🤬 so hopefully this will work... Wish me luck
Better off using non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner. :-) Hold a folded paper towel behind the stain and blast it.
It work?
Thank you- does this work on regular cooking oil and mayo stains?
Heather B Any oil.
How do you know how long to scrub it for if you can't see the oil stain as easily as that dark motor oil?? the stain I'm trying to remove is obvious when it is dry but if it gets wet I cannot see it at all. :-/
