  • In this video I show how to surface a waste board on a Shapeoko xxl using Crarveco software. The techniques in this video can be used on any other machine and the principal with any other software to achieve success. I show how to determine the actual size of the work area on your specific machine as well as some tips and tricks for clamping and stock alignment.
the programming portion of the video begins at roughly the 7-minute mark.

NICE! thank you very much! just extended my 3018 into a 3035ish, and added limit switches, and just got carvco, Been about a year Since Ive used the router instead of the laser, so its like starting out all brand new again.
    This made things easy!

I have already surfaced a waste board on my Genmitsu 4040 Pro per James Deans Video and have been searching how to flatten an uneven piece of material. Do you have a video of surfacing a piece of material to get it ready for carving? I am using Carveco Maker and Candle. I have saved this video for future reference. Thank you in advance.

Thanks for watching I don’t have a specific video describing how to flatten a project but I can do a quick overview here create a square as large as your project do an area clearance tool path if you were using a quarter inch endmill remove a 16th of an inch of material for each pass zero your machine to the highest point of your stock run the tool path it’ll remove a 16th of an inch off of the highest side of the stock and miss on the lower portions continue doing this until the machine is removing material off the surface of the stock consistently across the surface
If you are uncomfortable, removing a 16th of an inch at a time, adjust the depth of cut to something more suitable When you create your tool path
      Hope this helps

@@Hinkleshop ABSOLUTELY helps and thank you very much!! Newbie in the world of CNC so am a little hesitant to do something without at least knowing a little about what I'm doing before pressing a button. 😳 By the way I love your videos! Again, thank you.
      Regards, Lamar

What do you mean by "sing". I'm a beginner at CNC and would appreciate non-linguistic jargon.

      Thank you for watching
The term sing relates to the change in the sound the bit makes when it touches the surface of the material sorry for the confusion
