When the piranha plants started singing in the second level, I knew this game was gonna deliver.
Me and my husband’s were shocked and confused at what we witnessed lol it was awesome

@@user-be3qc7re9o Its subjective I guess, but for me its Mario Bros, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, and Mario Kart. I will play new iterations of those games for life (assuming the quality stays good, which Nintendo has a great track record on that)
A lot of people would probably say Kirby or Star Fox as well, but those arent my jam as much.

I don't think I can actually convey just how glad I am to hear that Super Mario Wonder doesn't have a timer. I honestly think I would've gotten into videogames much deeper much quicker if I could go at my own pace the whole time. I get why the timer's there and why someone may even enjoy it, but it only resulted in more anxiety in me personally
I think Wonder has shown that we don’t lose challenging gameplay when the timer is dropped, it gives you the ability to take the challenge at your own pace. I think that’s why the online play with strangers wouldnt work in the other games as well as it does in Wonder
On October 20th I strolled into Gamestop and said "It's the day for my boys in red and blue. Spider-Man 2 and Mario Bros Wonder Pleeeeeaaaase"

I skipped both because I don't care about Nintendo franchises other than Metroid, don't have a switch and fuck Sony and identity politics they push in everything. Sweet Baby Inc. worked on Spidey 2 and it shows.
I love Wonder but its insane that it took 30 years for them to get back to this quality for 2d Mario. Thank God though this blew me away.

Anyway, I enjoyed it. It's a charming game. Loved all the musical numbers.
I do agree about the desert theme, it just ummf goes so hard. It deserves to live rent free in my head.

I've been playing Wonder in co-op with a close friend of mine and it's been an absolute blast. There's so much charm in the game with all the animations and wacky things that can happen. What a great year for Mario with the movie and now this game.
As someone that grew up gaming since the Atari I'm loving this game. I now have 4 kids, 3 that are old enough to game. My 10, 9 and 6 year old sons love doing 4 player co-op with dad and it's so damn much fun.
I bet my 4-year-old little brother is gonna want that game so bad. Glad to know it will be a "Wonder"ful experience playing the game.

havent played a 2D mario since mario world/yoshi's island. my goodness this game has SO MUCH charm. it def feels like back in the day where i played on the snes... its crazy how good it is. this year has been amazing for games new and nostalgic!
This review is bringing me a lot of found memories of your Mario 3D Land for the 3DS review. Aaah, simpler times.
Played pretty much all the big releases this year for all platforms and this is my favorite game, easily, and my favorite game since Metroid Dread in 2021. I'll admit I'm biased as these are two of my top 5 favorite franchises of all-time but they're also legit great games. Crazy the Switch is still rolling along six years after it launched.
I had that same thought about how my mom and uncle played on their NES when they were little and gaming in general was still revolutionary at the time. Now (as you said) this makes 2D mario feel like this new thing once again. The best comparison I've thought of is that it did what Odyssey tried to do. Not that it was a bad game but it tried too hard to be a celebration/nostalgia fest to the older games. This just makes that "what if we do this new thing" idea the entire game which is what has made new mario games great (when they accomplish it)
My daughter and I are having a blast playing it. Highly recommend 💯👍🏽
Nintendo really has innovated this time with the first "Mario" type game, fantastic job Kojima, you did it again.

Kojima is Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator.Miyamoto is Mario's creator but he didn't create this game Shiro Mouri directed and Takashi Tezuka produced.

I played it in between spiderman 2 and kept playing it for like an hour every few days and finally beat Bowser yesterday, this game is awesome. I tried one special world level and immediately went "yeah I don't have the patience for this right now" so I still gotta do those but the game overall was a great experience ( they could've done way better boss battles)
In regards to the New Super Mario Bros games, the DS game was the best in the series as the levels where not designed for 4 players like its sequels. That’s why it’s tighter than the others.
Wow! Better late than never to have a review on this game, but I'm glad you enjoyed it Jeremy. I played it, got 5 out of 6 medals, and decided I had enough so I traded it in last week for a preorder on Mario RPG. Legend of the Seven Stars is my favorite game on the SNES and I can't wait to play the remake!!

I use elgato, but I don't use the elgato recording software they give you. I too was playing Spider-Man as a priority, to avoid the obvious puns it's an incredible game.

My man, Jeremy!! I went to Japan and Nintendo World and saw somewhere in Japan (I think youtube ads) Super Mario Wonder and I was hooked again. It's been at least 8-9 years since I last played a Mario game (It might have been one of those Mario Galaxy games). God damn, this new game is amazing.

I am still waiting on a copy of Wonder to come to my library but it is definitely on my list. Not only for all of the reasons that you listed but also for a very unique reason which is definitely going to age me almost as much as your comment about your father being younger than you when he was watching you play the first Super Mario Bros. And that is this is the first Main Line Super Mario Brothers 2D game to be released strictly on console since Yoshi's Island released in 1995. And at the time that Yoshi's Island release I was maybe 9 years old. But I've seen all of these different RUclipsrs that I follow play the game and they have been singing the Praises of it and much like the feelings of....wonder and whimsy I thought playing Super Mario Bros 3 after it released in North America this is how I've seen people reacting to wonder. And I am definitely going to be playing it when I can finally get my hands on a copy of it
This year is killing it with games. I'll probably pick this up after Spiderman 2 just like you haha
I just want to say, love ur channel been watching for years. A masterpiece show ended tonight after 10 years. It's an experience nobody I watch is talking about. You watch a lot of shows and movies yes but an actual story for the ages ended tonight and if you like stories, if u say ur a fan of great content, you need to watch it.
my favorite theme was the one from the chomp fields level (I think that's what it's called) with the bowser in the background and the black shell plant things along the floor. it shows up in several levels and it's such an earworm. love it 👏
The backdrop stage being used in some levels blew my mind. This game is brilliant!

I skipped all the New SMB games but all it took was one trailer and I was like, "Yes. This is the one"
One thing I'm disappointed about is that they held onto the arbitrary "lives" system after removing it in Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury. It seems unnecessary, especially when you end up with like 60 1-ups.

Sounds like it has a lot of neat features - if my nephew gets the game then of course I'll have to watch him play it now 😆. Also: that mention at the end about the "Super Mario Bros" games being a trip immediately made me think of "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane for some reason 😁.
Great review, Jeremy... please more Game Reviews! ANd yes, Mario Wonder is the best 2D Mario since Super Mario World, but my fave is still Super Mario Bros 3. Wonder does have some aspects that bug me like the boss fights are not really well thought out or good, nor plentiful, and the game is too short.

It’s all about the extras you put into the game instead of just rushing them out. Sounds like that’s what they’ve done here. I remember back in the DS days when you close the cover on new super Mario Brothers you will hear a voice saying bye-bye. That’s what we need for game design. People who put the extra effort in little things and small details.

This is probably the same one everyone is recommending, but the Elgato brand of capture cards is really solid! I have an HD60S, but you may wanna get a better model since that one only has 1080p passthrough.

The Avermedia GC553 Live is the capture card that I’ve been using. 4K footage. You can customize all the settings like any other capture card and there’s no lag in the software.

Is Jeremy reviewing Alan Wake 2 really curious too see his Review.I finished it yesterday really liked it my only gripe was the overuse of predictable jumpscares the game even auto saved before a jumpscare it got annoying since only a few like 2 or 3 were effective but the others were just walk scream 2 steps later another scream it wasn't effective.
The Dark place gameplay was really original how you could reshape reality shame it was a bit limiting hope they go all out in the third overall i feel the wait was worth it and it lived to my expectations felt like a silent hill mixed with La noir but without interrogations just the picking clues putting them on the case board.
Love that I also went from Spider-Man 2 to Mario Wonder!

Mario Bros Wonder is fantastic. But let’s not forget that we ALSO got a brand new 2D Sonic game in the same week with modern day graphics and a lot of gameplay updates.

I love the game and it’s different and so much fun to play. I love the fact the clock is gone because without the clock you can take time to search for the Wonder seed and collect the big coins… I don’t rage quit the game as fast as I did with other past Mario games. I play for a bit and I feel good when I come off of it lol
The boards are not overly difficult with I like too at least so far..I still have a way to go. But it’s enjoyable and I love you have a pick of many other characters to choose from. Right now I’m playing with Yoshi and loving it!
My favorite thing are the flowers. Those are the reasons i play with head phones. I slipped the first several levels without headphones and soon I'll be going back through the beginner levels with headphones so i can hear that goofy plant.
I haven’t been stressed out sm much playing a 2D Mario game since playing SMB2 on the SNES. I’m just a casual gamer but some of the levels of Wonder were so hard for me 😭 I actually gave up on some and just accepted my fate. But yeah I’m so enjoying this game so far 😍 Mario really needed this refresh and it couldn’t have been released at a better year.
I just wanna add but Iive in Japan and I’m bummed that the US and UK are getting all the cool Wonder merch and were stuck here with just dishes 😩 I really need that Talking Flower figure!
