If the Tail of the Dragon was here in Australia, there would be a speed camera every 200 metres and half a dozen police vehicles patrolling it 24/7. Because in Australia all semblance of fun MUST BE STAMPED OUT. By order of the government.
1. Living in Atlanta, the TOTD, and several other great roads in this general area, are very much within reach for an amazing day on the bike! 2. I won a 2020 MT-09, when the SP wasn't yet available. Before I even bought it, I had already planned for a suspension upgrade. The stock suspension was horrible, but with Traxxion Dynamics fork cartridges, an Ohlins shock, and springs matched to my weight, my MT-09 ride absolutely beautifully, and is indeed the perfect bike for roads like the TOTD! 3. Troy is absolutely right in encouraging buyers to go for the SP model, the additional costs over the standard model is about half of what I spent on my suspension upgrade.
@@Christoph1888 If you couldn't ride twisties or race track, only city and highway like a hooligan... What would you rather have if you could only have one? S1000R or MT09?
2nd gear flat spot doesn't matter as everyone will just put on an exhaust and flash the ECU. The shock may not be setup properly for you which is why it's bottoming out.
Good lord those riders in the video (other than Troy) are awful: crossing the double-yellow, not smooth, not holding a steady line, getting way too close to each other on a public road, etc.
The dude riding in front of you was all crossed over, terrible lines, and frankly needs to do a few schools like CSS or YCS. But thx for the review! Always good
The bigger issue than price is availability of the SP. Maybe not so much in large urban areas but it certainly is outside of those areas where the dealers are lower volume. They are available, you just have to pay attention and act fast. And maybe travel 100-200 miles to grab it.
I'm probably going to buy the standard version because I dont like the color scheme and coming from a 2022 Kawasaki Z400 the brakes and suspension will probably still feel like an upgrade. I'd rather spend the extra money on exhaust, windscreen and heated grips. I can always upgrade the brakes and suspension later or just buy another bike altogether.
@tubejorrit If I lived near the tail of the Dragon I probably would too. Unfortunately I live in Jacksonville FL on bumpy city roads and open slow turn highways and don't ever find myself needing a tighter, better suspension. Honestly I enjoy the suspension on my Z400. One day, God willing, I will move somewhere where there's twisties or a race track then I could see suspension being much more important.
Better late than never, it's almost 2025.
Bike of the year
New hornet 1000.
@silviodante27 new hornet look little bit like copy of ducati styling.mt09 looks way better.
@@silviodante27 not even a competitor.... The Honda is 2025 and mt09 2024.

I remember riding the 1st one when it came out. I had a s1000r at the time. Was so much fun. The way it produced power was awesome.

Cherohala Skyway is a special road indeed! Great ride man.
They actually made nice updates but I think that Honda new Hornet 1000 is just amazing with it's futures and price ❤❤❤❤
Awesome review!
Finally threw a leg over one at the shop and the ergos on the MT-09 SP are amazing. I'm holding out hope for the XSR900 GP though!
Not coming to US

Have one ☝🏼🏆 amazing 🤩! Had the previous SP ( 22) and it feels notable better, sportier.
Love my 2022. Simpler and apparently they run stronger with the larger airbox.

Did you guys just find this footage on an old hard drive? Wasn't this ride in the summer?
I wanted the neosport cb1000r but then this bike came out. Give me that SP
Where is the XSR900GP for us in the USA🤔
Not coming.
I lhave a 24 xsr900, i like the way it looks, butt i love the triple, everytime i ride it it makes me go wow....

Pretty sure the SP has the "Smart Key-system" and the standard does not.

Here in the Southeastern US, you'll be lucky to find one within an 8 hour drive
@@RotorRidesNC None in Arkansas either. I was lucky to find one in a small town in Oklahoma and had a bike transport guy deliver it to me.
Fairly bullet proof and more bang for your buck than a bag of on sale fireworks
First thing I would do is paint the exhaust, other than that it looks like an amazing bike.
Nah people just trash it and put on a full system.

In my humble opinion, I have more fun with good suspension then a loud exhaust.
