I'm wanting to put a cam in, but I want to keep the VVT because you end up loosing low end torque without it, move the whole power band up in RPM and that doesn't seem great for a tow vehicle, which is what I primarily use mine for. Finding it hard to find videos on a VVT cam swap.
@@sergeantseven4240 the issue there is finding a tuner that will tune vve. But I’m telling you if you spec the right cam you’re not going to lose anything if i could go back and do it again, I’d do the truck Norris cam because it actually picks up down low the cam I went with stayed about the same.
@Brksblake I've seen a few low rpm high torque cams available. Trying to decide on what to get. There are some vvt cams available that come with a cam phaser limiter kit. Waiting to pick up an HP tuner first and go from there. Just not a lot of information available on the vvt setups because most of these motors end up in swaps.
@@sergeantseven4240 very true another reason why I deleted it. If you go with a non vvt setup and need help with tuning or anything. Feel free to reach out
What cam did you go with? And how bad did that kill your mileage? When I bought my truck it had an awesome tune and I was getting around 18 mpg empty and 13.5 or so with my 35'camper, concrete blocks and 2 1200# tool boxes in the bed on 295s. But a mechanic wiped that tune. Since then, I haven't seen over 14 mpg. Any help would be appreciated.
Nice. I've been looking everywhere for the L96 with cam. Thanks for a overview.
@@krisyaz1545 you’re very welcome I was in the same boat which is why I documented it the best I could
Sounds great Bud 👌🏻

What orange ratchet is that?
@@drew5992 I’ll double check on the brand but it’s just one I found on Amazon. It’s worked great
Did you have to change your push rods with that cam?
I did not.
