    The launch customer for this aircraft is the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Australia which is also the largest user of the PC-12 in the world. In Western Australia they found that in having to transfer a patient from the north of the state to the capital city, Perth, it would take an aircraft out of service for 3 days once flight and duty times were taken into account. They needed something faster for the transfers and that is what they intend to use the PC-24 for. The freight door is so they can load a patient on a stretcher easily. There is a small hydraulic lift on the PC-12 for this. The off-tarmac landing capability also gives it the ability to do recovery flights but that is secondary to the transport element.

    I am Brazilian and Phenom 300 has been the best-seller aircraft on it’s niche; now, it has a great competitor to face:
    - the cargo door feature;
    - ability to operate on unpaved airfields(well, distances for TKOFF and LND may put a penalty on those operations...);
    - twin-wheeled main landing gears;
    - single-pilot operations (hmmm, some Countries ‘ regulations may not allowed it but it’s a fact and shall be considered)
    - state-of-the-art Avionics
    Well, let’s see how the battles go... PC24 is a nice plane! 😉

    Thats a nice looking aircraft. I think pilatus p24 has a generous config. I have never heard of a business cargo jet before as i have worked in an airline cargo environment. I think its great 👌. Furthermore i also think it will be a hit with flying doctors or ambulance. The capability of landing on a short runway even grass runway is a brilliant idea in my opinion. Kudos to pilatus bravo.

    Beautiful plane. I think the cargo door is a no brainer. Why don't others do this and open up the airplanes to larger markets. It isn't really even a huge expense if it were done in the early prototype design.

    • @SkyshipsEng
      @SkyshipsEng  6 лет назад +6

      I think It's not so interesting for standard passengers and VIP airlines. The door is a feature of all Pilatus planes with their "specific workplace"

    • @slavepusher
      @slavepusher 4 года назад

      A large cargo door adds additional complexity (opening mechanism, structural integrity, weight etc.). The PC-24 is not the most comfortable or fastest or highest flying plane in its category (and those are some serious disadvantages if you want to buy it just to ferry around important feeling people).
      The PC-24 is more the G-Wagon of business jets. Can be a rugged utility tool (e.g. the reason why the Flying Doctors in Australia got this plane) but can also be speced to be a comfortable people mover.

    I wonder what design criteria required for a business jet to :
    - able to land on gravel and grass strip, ie unprepared runway.
    - single pilot capability
    - short runway required for take off and landing.
    Whatever it is, it's the Swiss ( with a German Chairman ?) that's able to nailed it. Well done.
