You’re the man!! I went through several “fixes” on this online, from rebuilding the carb to replacing the O-ring with no luck. Cleaning the bowl nut ports did the job. Thank You Bruce!
@@BrucesShop- Good quick fix. Mustie 1 did the same engine in 2018 on a roadside free mower. Needed more cleaning work on the carb, due to years of age. ;
Exactly! Cleaned and rebuilt the carburetor twice and it still wouldn’t start. After cleaning the bowl nut ports, that did the trick. Thanks and have a great day!
My deceased brother's push mower was doing the EXACT same thing! Starts and dies within seconds. THIS solved the problem!!! Bruce, people like you make RUclips absolutely PRICELESS and solves problems that would cost a LOT of money to pay someone to fix it!!! Please keep those videos coming!!! Thank YOU so very much!!!

May 16, 2015. My mower had the same symptoms. I followed your video as suggested. It started on the first pull and stayed running. I can't thank you enough.

Thank you for a trick you shared - when I cleaned my bowl - I took the filer assembly off (which you said DON'T as it could compromise the gasket seal) well when my mower tried to run for 2 seconds and quit, I searched on you tube and your video came up on the list. As soon as I heard you say compromise - I paused the video and I was off like a shot to my mower - tore it back down - checked that the gasket was good- then horsed those three screws down like I took them off - and YES SIR! I would like to know how to tighten or get the blades sharpened next, I just want to say thank you very much for sharing the knowledge you have on these things.
Hey Desmond. Wow thanks so much. I got into You Tube to pay it forward, using my skills. I have learned a lot from others too!!! I am so happy you got the job done. I've had 2 Murray mowers sitting in my way for 2 years not running or even starting. After watching this I had the guts to tear into them. In 30 minutes and slightly different issues than this one in the video, I have two mowers that fire right up every time ! Much appreciated sir !!
I have been lugging around a practically brand new craftsman 6.75 mower for roughly 10 years. Shortly after purchasing it, it started doing exactly what the one in this video was doing. I kept it for a "back up" all this time without looking into the problem. Today, I found your video because me "go to" mower quit. WOW, I can't believe it was that simple!!! I tried to start it before looking at your video and it was a no go just like I remembered. Once I cleaned the holes out of the bowl nut, FIRED RIGHT UP!! And, ran for 45 minutes. Looks like I have a new "go to" mower thanks to you. Much appreciated!!
Thanks. I have a 2014 Briggs and Stratton without the prime button that was exhibiting the same symptoms. The same fix worked on it. Saved me a lot of hassle taking it in.
Thank you so much! Your lesson was spot on. I've never even used a socket wrench before, and I was able to get my mower working again after following your tips.
I got it started today Mr. Pender. I took off the Carburetor bowl and there was lots of debris in it. I cleaned it and the screw with the holes in it, put it back on, primed it and it started up and stayed started. I'm living on an SS check with my Wife and we really appreciated not having to pay out a lot of money to get our mower fixed. You're a good man Mr. Pender. Thank you from all of us.
I've got an 8 YO Toro Super Recycler that is doing the same thing (start, sputter, die); the jet was OK. New plug today. What's funny is my mower has the exact same shape/size/layout engine (but smaller back wheel) - I'll disassemble the carb tomorrow; it sat outside for 1.5 years (here in CA, so like 6" of rain this year?) but now we have a new pool and landscaping. You've given a computer nerd confidence!
Thanks a bunch! This worked like a charm. I would have never looked at this tiny hole as the source of the problem, but sure enough, started like new on first try.
Same here. I spent 2 days cleaning out the carb, spraying out the jet, running sea foam through, but she wouldn't stay running. I never noticed that tiny hole in that bolt. When I ran a thin wire through it, it "popped" out through the other side, pushing out a plug of gunk that had formed through the years. Once I cleaned that hole out good, put her back together and ran like a charm!
I was having the same issues with my mower and was ready to take it in to get fixed but then decided to watch some utube videos to see if I could fix it myself. I'm so glad I came across yours because not only was the problem the same but it was on the exact same B&S engine. There was lots of junk at the bottom of the bowl and once that was cleaned it started right up. Thanks again for the money you saved me plus the joy of fixing it myself made my day.
Just want to thank you sir!!!!....was about to give up and throw away my craftsman 6.5 mower..... I've had it for at least 20 years.... this year it gave out!!!.....searched RUclips for answers and found your channel....did exactly as you instructed and it's running fine!!!!....was all set to go and drop some serious $$ on a new mower.... she's running smooth and cutting great!!!... thanks again for the instructions!!
I like how you troubleshoot the mowers. I stopped at Goodwill today to buy an old cake pan, now you got a very handy tool there to minimize the mess on the workbench when cleaning carbs. I like that.
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you Bruce. Our Craftsman has exactly the same engine and exhibited the same problem. After watching your video I fixed the mower in under 10 minutes. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
Life Saver!!! My DR Trimmer Mower has been giving me fits. After changing the dead battery for the started I realized it still wouldn't start normally. Tried the 20 pump trick and it only ran for 2 seconds. I was clueless and figured I was going to need to take the carburetor apart until I found your video. THANK YOU!!
i have a Swisher walk behind string trimmer that is doing the same thing!! Thanks for the easy fix since I've already done the spark plug and air filter..the carbuerator bowl bold is what I will check next
Thanks Bruce. My 10yr old Craftsman mower, same problem. Different configuration, but followed your steps and fixed it! Started right up and stayed there as I mowed the entire lawn.
I just got a lawn mower from a customer that i repaired their central air conditioner. very old couple. they gave me the mower and i came home and it was doing the same thing in this video. i did exactly what the tech said in the video and the lawn mower works. thank you so much.
Bruce, you are a life saver! I had tried every suggestion I could find online on how to fix this problem with my lawnmower - - nothing worked. I was defeated and debating whether to take it to my lawnmower repair guy and spend at least $75 or scrapping my 26 year-old Lawn Boy altogether. I decided to do one last search on RUclips and I found your video. Yours was the ONLY video I found on RUclips that proposed the specific solution of removing the carburetor bowl and then cleaning the bowl nut. Started up right away after 2 days of futile attempts. Thanks so much - - you saved me a lot of time and money and gave me the satisfaction of being able to repair something myself!
You are so welcome. Yes i still answer comments even if this video is 8 years old. I still make 2 videos a week. The lighting is poor but the point is driven across. Thanks so much for you kind words.
I appreciate your effort on this video. I don't know anything about engines, but thought if I worked along side you instructions I might be able to fix my mower myself. My grass is shamefully long waiting on my husband. Since he had to work today and it is sweltering out I pulled my mower into my house, grabbed a tool box and turned on your video. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but you really need to put a warning at the beginning about clamping the gas line. I was following your instructions and just before you stopped to clamp the gas line I finished loosening the carb nut and ended up with gas all over my floor. It was a terrible mess and my house smells awful.
Thank you for your video. Had a Toro mower that sat for eight years in storage, and tried everything to get it to start. Gumout, Seafoam, the works. In the end, it was a clogged plug, just like in your video. Never would have thought to check that. Thank you!
Hey would you mind giving us a tour of your mower lift table? I got to see just enough to make me curious. where'd you get it and what does one cost? thanks for the great video! :)
use premium fuel in small engine , for some reason it works better and does not gum up in a carburetor after long storage , second if you have a fuel valve turn it off while the engine is running and wait until the fuel dries out from the carburetor , Fuel left in the carburetor for a long time will dry up and damage the carburetor , installing a fuel shut off valve is easy , If engine is hard to start remove the spark plug and use a propane torch burn off the Corbin residue and whatever might be on the spark plug , I do it until the Central Electric and the ground electroid get red hot , of course wait until the spark plug cool down before reinstalling it , in the Old Country Palestine we used to put a small amount of gasoline on the ground put the spark plug in the middle of it and set it on fire , that always worked to get us out of a jam ,
Nidal Shehadeh You might try running the engine dry of fuel, or taking that fuel and spilling it back into the fuel gas contsiner you stored it into when buying it and bringing it to your home for use to put into the mower. Gasoline, when left into the tank, weather mixed with oil, 2 cycle, or 4 cylcle, straight gas should ALWAYS be removed before winter storage as gasoline has a tendancy of causing varnish to clogg up the carburator jets, air/fuel ratios, and even the fuel line, which needs to be clean for a good, efficent running engine. Also gasoline at times can get stale, which is also very bad for engines, carburators, carburator floats which regulates an even flow of the fuel into the engine, especially when the machine is on a small grade of a hill so that the engine still runs and doesn't stall out due to a carburstor float. From simple basic, to complicated, process of elimination.
Same engine on my craftsman... I pulled the bowl and air filter assembly today and cleaned the carb, float and bowl with carb cleaner. Runs great now. Thanks for saving me a few bucks! Great video!
I watched your video, because my Sears mower, with a Briggs & Stratton would start and die just a second or two later. Mine didn't have the primer bulb, but the float bowl was the same. I removed the float bowl, cleaned out the tiny holes in the mounting bolt, including the hole that faced up. You were right on. I also replaced the air filter. It started on the first pull, and kept running. Oh, by the way, I replaced the air filter first. It still had the same problem. Cleaning the metering holes, and the hole that faced up did the trick. Thanks for posting that video.
Great video Bruce. I have a mtd chipper shredder with a Briggs and Stratton 5hp engine. There is no priming bulb. I've done a lot of work on this. Fuel tank, all gaskets, refurbished my exhaust, New fuel pipe, New spark plug, New armature. Lol I'm sure your getting my drift. But the engine will only fire and run if I put starter fluid or gas directly into the carburetor. Do you have any ideas on this? Ps my 2 year-old son watched the video with me and kept saying look papa fix it. Lol thanks again.
well if you have done it all there is a plastic intake manifold that goes from the carb to the other side of the motor(across the top). They can leak causes a huge vacuum issue ie not enough fuel. check it out and the little rubber gasket that seals the carb as well good luck sir I want grand kids if the is what your son means by papa!!!.
Bruce Pender I redid all the gaskets. I'm not sure what you mean by the plastic piece that goes across the top. There is nothing there like that. Hmm. Yes by papa he meant grandpa. He's a good kid.
US SURVIVAL AND HOMESTEADING OK I think you have the Briggs that has the tank below the carb horizontal shaft???. I missed that sorry here is a link for the carb rebuild and cleaning of a horizontal shaft 5hp Briggs by a guy name sixtyfiveford. Horizontal Briggs Carb Rebuild part 1 of 2
Bruce Pender correct. I already replaced the gaskets and cleaned the carburetor. But I was unable to clean the inside of the brass part of the carburetor. Time to take it back apart and do it over to see if that does the trick. Thanks again.
OMG !!! Man I thank you // I just did what you did and it fixed my mower // I was at my wit's end and about to take it to the shop where I know I would be robbed .. Thank God for the common man.. just an ordinary guy trying to help a fellow man // I surly appreciate you // Thanx again.
for those of you that tried this and it didn't work after first try, take a needle and stick it in the big center hole on the bowl nut. poke it back and forth and get all that build up until you can see the needle through the other two side holes. also press the prime button a few times and let fuel drain out before putting this screw. I had to do all of the above. if this worked for you, come back and reply. gigitty gigitty.
No. That vertical hole is the jet. Shoving wire through that hole is bad advice. If the hole gets damaged or altered then the jetting will be wrong and the mixture will be wrong. Compressed air, Gumout, and patience should be sufficient. You can effectively backflush the jet by blowing compressed air into the horizontal cross hole (feed hole) by blocking one side of it with a finger.
Thanks, Bruce! - I put in a new plug, new filter, fresh gas, changed oil with Mobil1- and ... had that problem, first time in 11 years. Watched this and fixed my problem in about 10 minutes, although I couldn't get my phone to ring in the middle of the repair like yours did. I'll keep trying.
Worked like a charm! Found your video while drinking morning coffee. Had it fixed in 15 minutes before work. Cleaned out the air filter and the carburetor nut (which used a 1/2" socket) on my 6.5 HP Briggs and Stratton. Started up on the first pull and purring like a kitten. Thank you!
NEVER START MOWER ON TABLE! i have seen fingers fly up against the wall! REALLY! [it vibrates off table or you yanked it off. then grab it to stop it from falling] THERE GOES YOUR FINGERS!
Thankyou, I just saw my future change because of you, something like that movie "the butterfly effect" Fuck bro, thanks for saving my digits, seriously :)
A table does make it easier to work but after hearing what the guy above said, i am NEVER going to start one on a table, I allready check the blades before hand just incase one is broken or something as i dont want it flying into my flesh. I would take his advice and never start it on the table because when you work on things you create habits and it only takes one time to forget, then your friends will call you stubby. Like when you learn to drive, create good habits, another eg would be to always put on ear protection when operating machinary. That is a habit i wish i had made for myself. Just create good work habits so that you can be as safe as possible without having to think about it. :)
Thanks for the great video. My Craftsman 6.75 series is 14 yrs. old and had the same problem. Followed your instructions and today it is back running like new.
Thanks. Your procedure was spot on (including nearly forgetting to clamp the gas line... :) ). My Craftsman mulcher sat unused for 1-1/2 years and would not start. I had no way to haul it to the local repair place so that the varnished gas could be removed. Your video made it so simple.
Bruce - 4 years ago you were thoughtful enough to post this video. Today it made my day as I followed your steps and got my stubborn power washer not only to start but to purr like new. The motor was killing me as it was shutting down after every pull. Many thanks for giving me the steps to clean it out and getting it running again.
Thanks Bruce. This fixed my older craftsman after several attempts of just squirting carb cleaner through all the holes in the carb. I took a small pin, then a micro drill bit to clean out the hole in the nut and presto... the mower runs again. you're awsome
Thank you Bruce! I have a pressure washer that sat unused for almost 2 years. When I tried to start it last week, it had the symtoms described in this youtube video. I watched your video and rebuilt the carburator, something I have never tried before. My pressure washer now runs beautifully. Thanks again!
Thanks to this I fixed my mower today, I was frustrated because it was not working when I was about to start the yard, anyway I look for the instructions on the manufacturer manual but still didn’t find anything so I decide to come to RUclips And I found you, It took me like 2 to 3 hrs to remove everything and clean it but at the end worked and finish the yard !!!! Thank you for your Chanel 👍👍
Thank's for the info. I inherited a Craftsman I could not start. After watching your video, I took of the bowl, cleaned it and the nut, now it starts. Thanks for the video.Saved me a trip to the repair shop.
Bruce, Many thanks for the wisdom.I was tired of working on the mower while the grass was growing at high speed and considered getting another until I found your tutorial.. Ned in Connecticut
Mine would start and just barely run. Your fix was very easy, even for a woman and it saved me a $50.00+ service charge. My Troy-Bilt mower runs like new. Thank you very much.
Thanks, what I know about mechanics would fill a shot glass, watched your video last night, today thanks to your tube I had my mower running in 15 minutes, you probably saved me $100, thanks again.
You rock. I went to start my lawnmower and it just wouldn't stay running. Your video saved my Sunday. 10 minute fix and I was off and running. Many thanks!
I just wanted to say that I came back inside, washed up, and dried my hands BEFORE mowing my lawn because your video just saved me a trip to the repair man. THANK YOU.
worked perfectly. My bowl has had lots of shit. Cleaned with carb cleaner and then it started. Not from the very first pull but it started and worked for 5 minutes with no issues. Then I had to stop as it was nearly 11pm. Thanks for this. Wish you all the best
I feel like I have spent a lifetime struggling with lawn mowers. I even transitioned to condo / townhouse life style to avoid yard work in my mid-life. However, the girlfriend needed some grass mowed and I volunteered. Of course the lawn mower wouldn't start. I applied my little pea brain to the task of getting it started for a day. Finally searched RUclips for a solution, watched your video, applied what you taught and it started up and ran beautifully - you made my Memorial Day weekend!
Thanks for posting this. After a carb rebuild, my mower was still stalling out. Pulled that screw and cleaned the holes with a pin and some carb cleaner. Mower now runs.
Thanks! I had re-built and cleaned the carb on my mower that had been sitting for three years, but had forgotten about this. I was pulling my hair out wondering why it wouldn't stay running. After watching this and a quick 5 minutes to clean the holes on the carb plug, all is running well!
Thank you, Bruce! You fixed my problem. Had to log on to say thanks. The wife will be happy the front lawn won't resemble a jungle anymore. It had been a few weeks since I saw this video and I pulled off the whole carburetor and reamed out some other small hole that comes up from the bottom. Some greenish "powdery" stuff came out. Worked anyway. Had some gaskets hanging around from the last time I had taken it to the mechanic and he didn't use them out of the kit. It was a perfect storm!
One of the most helpful videos I’ve encountered on RUclips. I’ve been frustrated with my older lawnmower but too attached and broke to buy another. I reached out to google as a last resort and your video solved my yearlong issue in under 20 minutes. Thank you sir.
Thanks for great video, did the gas cap 1st, still didn't stay running, cleaned the spark plug 2nd, still didn't stay running, 3rd took bowl nut off and cleaned with twisted tie from loaf of bread and blasted with compressed air reinstalled, and stayed running. Called a friend to define how small that 3rd hole is on top, safety pin to big, average Joe is not going to have that speciality pin like you had and clamping gas line was helpfully too and expect some run out, Thanks again Michael
Thanks for the video. Your suggested fix worked perfectly for me. I really appreciate you posting this. I suspect it saved me a whole bunch of money and time.

Great video. I was able to clean the carburetor just like you did and my mower stopped stalling. Thanks for making the video and sharing!
I was just about to trash our 14 year old mower. I watched this video and it runs like a charm. Thank you so much for posting!
Good for you for fixing it.
Thank you Sir! wish I had watched this before kitting the carb and forgetting to clean the nut. Kudos to you for your help to the community and me.
Right on
Thank you so much! I was having the exact same problem. Cleared the holes, replaced the o-ring and is running very good!
+jjl2267jb Great good for you.
Had my broke mower fixed in 10 minutes! It took me longer to find the adapter for my socket wrench than to fix the problem. Thank you sir!
This old video helped. I am happy.
I like the fact you don't make excuses for your mistakes. I've done the same thing with the fuel lines. It made me chuckle.
Thanks. We learn more from our mistakes than successes.
@@javegallc1184 Quite often it's just simple things!
Worked like a charm. Beats the Hell out of doing a rebuild when (apparently) I didn't need to.
You are so welcome Brian. This is an older video and the lighting and sound don't measure up now but it seems to be helping folks even now.
So glad I found your video. I fixed my mower in about 15 minutes. Thanks for saving me money.
Good for you. This is an older video of mine.
Your the only one who has told me something I can use for this problem. Thank you so much! You da Man!
Thanks so much. Fixing things yourself is a satifying thing.
Bruce
thanks for posting the video, never cleaned that bolt even after removing and taking apart the carb many times....
Yes it is a jet that looks like a bolt.
This video was helpful, was able to get my lawn mower working in like 5 minutes from this video, thanks ;3
Well you made my day. I needed a lift. Thank you!!!
I like how you troubleshoot the mowers. I stopped at Goodwill today to buy an old cake pan, now you got a very handy tool there to minimize the mess on the workbench when cleaning carbs. I like that.
Right on. Good for you. Nothing in the kitchen??/ LOL
Bruce.... You are the man. Worked like a charm and who knows how much you just saved me in a service bill. Thank you sir.
Ken Johnson Great Ken
You did an great job, it really help me out, in fixing my mower,
+Rodney Jackson I am happy you fixed it.
This really works.... by cleaning the Carburetors.
@@rodneyjackson622 And not having to totally disassemble the carburetor!
Thanks for posting this was having mower issues fixed it in minutes.
Good for you
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you Bruce. Our Craftsman has exactly the same engine and exhibited the same problem. After watching your video I fixed the mower in under 10 minutes. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
Thanks for commenting. Most people don't.
THANK YOU!!
You are welcome Mike
i have a Swisher walk behind string trimmer that is doing the same thing!! Thanks for the easy fix since I've already done the spark plug and air filter..the carbuerator bowl bold is what I will check next
+Bobbi Meyer good luck!!!
Thank you for posting this! We got our mower working again! Thanks. :)
Lisa Kowalski You are welcome. Isn't it fun to fix things?Bruce
We have had a lot of lawn mowers that start then quit. I think they do that just to keep us on our toes. Thanks for a great vid.
Gardening With Puppies Thanks for watching Paula
Thanks Bruce. My 10yr old Craftsman mower, same problem. Different configuration, but followed your steps and fixed it! Started right up and stayed there as I mowed the entire lawn.
+Paul Gibbons Good for you. I did do a video of a newer one with no prime but they are similar.
I just got a lawn mower from a customer that i repaired their central air conditioner. very old couple. they gave me the mower and i came home and it was doing the same thing in this video. i did exactly what the tech said in the video and the lawn mower works. thank you so much.
Wow you called me a tech. I am just a self taught, back yard, small engine mechanic.
The one single part of the carb that I didn't clean. :(
Thanks! Worked like a champ!
It is a small big thing hahaha
This was awesome. Helped me get mowing in less than 20 minutes. Thank you
Great. It is fun to fix stuff yourself.
@@BrucesShop Yes it is!!
God bless you bro, your going to heaven, I know it.
Aww Thanks
I bought this same mower from Craigslist for $20.00 with this exact issue. Your video and 3 minutes work - runs like new. Thank you !
+Joe Blow I am happy you got it.
Thanks so much for you kind words.
when you said two days after futile attempts, was that before or after you cleaned the bowl and nut>
@@bagley232 Two days of futile attempts, then found Bruce's video, applied his solution, and then it started up right away on the first try.
+Kimberly Baron Don't light any matches nearby for a while, you might get rid of the smell suddenly.
No, light it up and the gas and smell will disappear. I set it on fire all the time when I spill gas. Best way to get rid of it.
what are you using to clean out the hole? Is that compressed air? Lubricant?
Carb cleaner most likely. ie Gumout
Carb cleaner and compressed air too.
Paint strainers when used inside a funnel are a great way to ensure clean fuel gets into the tank to begin with.
my float had some clear coat that dissolved n clogged mine..
Thank you for your video. Had a Toro mower that sat for eight years in storage, and tried everything to get it to start. Gumout, Seafoam, the works. In the end, it was a clogged plug, just like in your video. Never would have thought to check that. Thank you!
You are so welcome.
This was awesome. It worked just as described. I did it in 5 minutes and my mower runs perfect now. Yes You Are The Man!!!!
Good for you.
Hey would you mind giving us a tour of your mower lift table? I got to see just enough to make me curious. where'd you get it and what does one cost? thanks for the great video! :)
ok never mind, just found your video on the mower table...lol...sorry :)
Good and funny too. Thanks
Curious as well. I will look for the video.
Just watched a couple informitive videos on how to clean a carburetor!
Dude was kinda goofy, but seems to know what he was doing
Douglas Jones Thanks I think
Lol, NP! I got my mower working again!
Douglas Jones good for you sir.
Bruce Pender and I apologize for calling you goofy sir!!
use premium fuel in small engine , for some reason it works better and does not gum up in a carburetor after long storage ,
second if you have a fuel valve turn it off while the engine is running and wait until the fuel dries out from the carburetor ,
Fuel left in the carburetor for a long time will dry up and damage the carburetor , installing a fuel shut off valve is easy ,
If engine is hard to start remove the spark plug and use a propane torch burn off the Corbin residue and whatever might be on the spark plug , I do it until the Central Electric and the ground electroid get red hot , of course wait until the spark plug cool down before reinstalling it , in the Old Country Palestine we used to put a small amount of gasoline on the ground put the spark plug in the middle of it and set it on fire , that always worked to get us out of a jam ,
Nidal Shehadeh You might try running the engine dry of fuel, or taking that fuel and spilling it back into the fuel gas contsiner you stored it into when buying it and bringing it to your home for use to put into the mower.
Always use 100% gas , ting is they only offer it in premium here in Tennessee ..
The 10% Ethanol will kill you carb and fuel hoses.....
Same engine on my craftsman... I pulled the bowl and air filter assembly today and cleaned the carb, float and bowl with carb cleaner. Runs great now. Thanks for saving me a few bucks! Great video!
Thanks for watching this older video of mine. Good job.
Mike Hartman You are welcome sir.

Great tutorial fixed my my mower Thanks again
Good for you Brandon
They can leak causes a huge vacuum issue ie not enough fuel. check it out and the little rubber gasket that seals the carb as well good luck sir
I want grand kids if the is what your son means by papa!!!.
Horizontal Briggs Carb Rebuild part 1 of 2
US SURVIVAL AND HOMESTEADING The carb comes and tank come off the motor together and the carb is attached to the tank with a gasket.
You are welcome. I am so happy you fixed it.

Thais is great. That is why i got into You Tube was to help.
Thanks so much! Done!
I am so happy you fixed it!!!
Nice. how much do you charge for what you did?
not enough I missed a bunch of comments somewhere sorry.
for those of you that tried this and it didn't work after first try, take a needle and stick it in the big center hole on the bowl nut. poke it back and forth and get all that build up until you can see the needle through the other two side holes. also press the prime button a few times and let fuel drain out before putting this screw. I had to do all of the above. if this worked for you, come back and reply. gigitty gigitty.
Great you got it.
one does not simply reply 9months later
Good for you bkell. It sure is satisfying to fix something yourself eh!!!
Thank you!
You made my day
Honda is the best!...........😎👍🍻
NEVER START MOWER ON TABLE! i have seen fingers fly up against the wall! REALLY! [it vibrates off table or you yanked it off. then grab it to stop it from falling] THERE GOES YOUR FINGERS!
Thankyou, I just saw my future change because of you, something like that movie "the butterfly effect" Fuck bro, thanks for saving my digits, seriously :)
I didn't
what if I take the blade off first
A table does make it easier to work but after hearing what the guy above said, i am NEVER going to start one on a table, I allready check the blades before hand just incase one is broken or something as i dont want it flying into my flesh. :)
They are designed to be running with the blade. It is effectively a flywheel.
Thanks for the great video. My Craftsman 6.75 series is 14 yrs. old and had the same problem.
Followed your instructions and today it is back running like new.
Wow this is an 8 year old video. Thanks
Thanks. Your procedure was spot on (including nearly forgetting to clamp the gas line... :) ). My Craftsman mulcher sat unused for 1-1/2 years and would not start. I had no way to haul it to the local repair place so that the varnished gas could be removed. Your video made it so simple.
I am happy you fixed it.
You are so welcome Bob
Thanks Bruce. This fixed my older craftsman after several attempts of just squirting carb cleaner through all the holes in the carb. I took a small pin, then a micro drill bit to clean out the hole in the nut and presto... the mower runs again. you're awsome
Great. Isn't it cool to fix your own stuff. Satisfaction and $$$

worked perfectly.

Thanks! I had re-built and cleaned the carb on my mower that had been sitting for three years, but had forgotten about this. I was pulling my hair out wondering why it wouldn't stay running. After watching this and a quick 5 minutes to clean the holes on the carb plug, all is running well!
Michael Heintz Good for you. Fixing things is rewarding!!!
