    Hi. Once you've sewn the tape onto the armhole and turned it to the wrong side, try hand stitching the binding to the fabric to get a neater finish and the hand stitching will move with the stretch. The length of the bias tape is determined by the armhole size plus 2.5cm's.

    I have to finish off a neckline using this method, and your's is the first video I've found that shows exactly how to do it with bias binding. Thank you so much.

  • @colleenglea
    @colleenglea  11 лет назад +5

    The bias binding can be of different widths (it's all about personal choice and your sewing project) but the length of the binding will be the measurement of the armhole. Hope that answers your question.

    Cut on the bias means cut on the stretchy part of the fabric, usually on the diagonal, around 45 degrees. I'll arrange to film a tutorial adding bias binding to a V neck shortly. Thanks.

    Great tutorial. I bought a thrifted sleeveless top that was tight in the armholes. I got so far cutting and shaping then panicked about the binding!
    Sorted and it looks great.

    The trimming they ask is to simply remove bulk from the seam. I'd be looking to trim away about half of the seam. Hope that helps.

    Thank you for this video. I was using tri-fold bias binding, but couldn't figure out how to use bi-fold bias. Didn't even think about attaching the binding then folding the fabric over, pressing down, then sealing the other side of the binding. Thank you!!

    Thank you for this video, it's just what I needed! If you have time to answer, my pattern asks me to cut an armhole facing from my fabric and then press it after folding it along a roll line. Then it says, "Pin facing to armhole edge. Stich. Trim. UNDERSTITCH facing." I didn't notice you trimming anything, so I'm just wondering how much they expect me to trim and what the purpose is for this trimming. Perhaps I could skip the trimming? The rest of it I get, thanks to your videos!

    Except on a hem, I've never seen binding applied like this, invisible. This solves my problem of not finding a binding that coordinates with a fabric that wouldn't work for self-binding. Isn't there a way to do it before you close the armhole? Would love to see your version of that!
