The key is that most don't know their history or their rights as it regards this country and the boys were TOLD what to believe during interrogation by the AUTHORITIES and fell inline and did as told. Just imagine how many other things we have been told, now believe, that aren't true about anything conveyed to us by people of "status" in this country.

I am a mother of two sons, we were all born and raised in Chicago. When this travesty happened to these men, I was 26 years old. The talk amongst us "Black" people in Chicago was that we were clear that they were being set up! My sons are 25 and 23, currently. It has become so dangerous in the city of Chicago for "Black" males especially, so we finally had to flee. Although we are not quite sure where there is safety, we knew it was no longer there for our family. As the policing becomes more aggressive, anxiety and other illness are also becoming more aggressive among us, including, hopelessness. But isn't that the Plan? Our only way out is God and each other, ourselves.
I watched this movie-documentary expecting to be angered but what I experienced profoundly exceeded anger. There were moments of eye bulging shock! I screamed and screamed to God, I boo-who cried, I had to watch in increments in order to maintain self-control!! The only thing that kept me from going into depression is that I am choosing to be motivated by these overwhelming emotions to do something, create something to pay it forward, to help us, to be a part of our monumental need to help each other help ourselves. God and us is our way out of condemnation.

Mark my word, this film will go down as something much more than what we can comprehend at the present moment. In other words, decades from now they'll accredit a great change to this film. My hat goes off to our five magi's and our queen Ava DuVernay.

She is incredible. GOSH I'd expect in this day and age you'd have the film Lincoln center give more of a shit with BETTER technology to ensure the WHOLE interview - KNOWING there is going to be a Q&A situation needing mics/footage - would be MORE prepared and respectful of her time talking about a crucial story.

I want to support her so bad but I can’t bring myself to watch it😩😔 I have brothers & a son & I just can’t...but I pray all 5 men get the peace & love they all deserve...I understand NOTHING can take back what they went through & possibly still going through... I just pray that they get proper healing & see what an impact they have on all of us. 😩🙏🏽🙏🏽 & whoever reading this, many blessings & love to you & your family❤️😘

As a mother of a 12, 14 and just turned 18 yr old, I can tell you that this series is a very difficult watch. I wasn't quite prepared for the levels of emotions I felt thoughout the entire program. I was devastated for the kids and their parents.
I was 19 yrs old when all of this went down and I remember this case like it was yesterday. Back then, I viewed it from the perspective of a teenager and when they were convicted, I quickly forgot about them. I do recall feeling like they weren't guilty though. Now, as a parent, I see the true horror of this case and how it deeply impacted everyone involved, in so many ways. As a mother, I would lose my mind if this happened to one of mine.
If you change your mind and decide to watch, brace yourself. If not, that's ok too. We as adults HAVE to teach our kids to never ever speak to the police without a parent or an attorney, plead the 5th, never sign anything. It's an amazing story though and I'm so happy they were exonerated. We just need to make sure, as a people, as a nation, that nothing like this ever happens again.

U have to watch it, so u can speak about it. Otherwise this will continue to happen. U will be haunted, angry, hurt, but it's necessary. Days later I'm still thinking about it but it's worth it, and it will help when I have children, so I know what to talk to them about and how. Everyone have to watch it. Please do.

Movie had me in tears. Great actors & the people behind the scenes. This movie was so greatly depicted. I hope that this movie will change the perspective in people in a positive way of what individuals of color go through. And what a sadly incredible situation these boys/men went through. I hope & pray that they all can live a great rest of their lives.

I love that one question from a woman asking for her views on the quota system law suit against the NYPD. She answered she wasn't aware of it, but smiled and said, maybe that could be my next movie. Can you imagine her bias not influencing her movie in that story?

Remember we had villages of us living on our land now known as Central Park. They evicted us illeagally off of our land and buried our cities and towns. What was the problem with changing a light on our land 🤔😒😣to tell parts of our stories? So wick with it.

It’s not one of the greatest injustice that has ever happened in this country. This injustice to black people happens all over this country. There is one thing for certain and two things for sure. Justice is coming to the people the 500 years of pain and suffering done to Black people.

But hats off to you Ava!!!❤❤❤

Ava is right NYC of late 80s and early 90s was soo soo different. When I went to NYC four years ago I was shocked at even Grand Central Station - was unrecognizable. It used to be dirty, grimy and VERY scary. When you walked the streets of NYC in the early 90s, you felt like you were literally taking your life into your hands - chances of being hit by a stray bullet were really high

This is just my opinion: What Linda was doing before she recently got cancelled, was her strong suit (if not only talent) from the beginning. The problem is, her position afforded her countless opportunities to perpetrate her ever changing narrative against innocent adolescent boys and received systematic assistance in doing so. She deserves to pay for the precedence she set which continues to ring loud echos in the lives of others.

Acurately so, my heart goes out to these innocent (at one point teens) men,... may God heal and bless them with abundance of love peace and happiness in the name of Jesus Christ...amen! I also pray that all those wrong doers involved who still live today, repent and openly appologize to them, including Trump , and if they don't they should be put in jail as well, so that they can begin to grasp the reality of their suffering, and even then it wouldn't compare! The system is flawed and corrupt. Too many innocent serving time while the real perpetrators walk freely and some even with no remorse shame on the people that could have done something to stop this nightmare and dicided not to, shame on system and society as a whole!..as Marcelino Mares puts it "Innocent 5" stay strong!!!

Brilliant director. I knew about the case, but I did not know the extent of their suffering and that of their families. I also did not realize that Fairstein was the monster that she is. For the Wall Street Journal to give Fairstein a platform for her continued, remorseless tripe, well, that says a lot.

Ava please do a series on the the Atlanta child murders! 29 black children where murdered during that time and the person the police claimed did it ( they didn’t charge him with the children killing) is being released from prison soon.
