    What a well spoken an eloquent woman. I loved her documentary. I've watched it 2X already. I was always part of the opinion that Black people need their "own" country. Not the USA. Marcus Garvey tried to lure the masses to Africa 100 years ago. The Black people here were too in love with plantation and "massa" to leave it. Well 100 years later look at the condition that Black people are living in in the US. I'm not saying that Africa is all rosy and perfect, but it takes hundreds of years to build a great nation and you got to start from somewhere.

      While I applaud you on this; I think we both know that separate but equal will not be "allowed" to happen. Remember separate towns during Jim Crow?? Built by former slaves. We had our own schools, shops, banks, etc. KKK and other "groups" would ride in and burn it down. String up the men, rape women, slaughter children. I don't know what the answer is, but just thought I would put that out there. Their hate for us is BONE Deep. It is a part of their DNA now.

    Ava, Thank you for the hard work, the dedication and the time you have invested! As you can see, I am a white mother but have the heart of fairness for all people everywhere on earth. This documentary sickened me! My son, though white, has come from a very large family. At the age of 13, he was charged as an adult and though mentally challenged, sentenced to 40 years incarceration and parole. This has led to severe mental illness, anxiety and though released for a year, his parole was revoked and he's back in jail, very likely destined for prison! A part of his story is told in "The New Yorker" By Sarah Stillman. Titled, "the list" Please find me on Facebook Ava and let me know how I can help! Heidi Nuttall, A grieving mother

    Let me start by saying - A great film - well done and keep up the great work you do.
    One thing I would be interested in seeing - when you do the graphics showing the increase in the prison population - did you do analysis on the percentage of black and brown people within the increase? I think this would be effectual - if it shows how the new laws and police action has impacted black and brown people more - or not? I would think that the numbers would show that the new laws actually targeted black and brown people. Also I like the commentary on the end about the shift towards immigration and surveillance. This could be the start of another documentary?
    And I loved how you connected the dots - linking the laws/policies - to ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council). The way you did this was smart. We got the history, then you pulled back the curtain shedding a bright light on what they are doing.

    She's a person who puts people into moral categories according to their race (by the way, that's called a "racist"). But people are not first groups or "communities," but individuals - some good, some evil - does not matter the color of your skin (as Dr. King said). Her views are the last thing America needs, if we are ever going to make progress coming together.

Then back at you Ms. Williams! And I had been given a choice! It's not fair! Like walking into the night . And looking into the night sky! And God was to ask me! Which one of these Stars are the Most Beautiful to you! And that's the one you can be with! I would answer. Lordy, whoever would want me the most! That's my choice! Someone who would celebrate me! Instead of tolerate me! I love to talk anyway. Because I want to know! Why you feel the way you do? And equally why we are here! Together!

      For black folks, it only represents a cogent way of explaining our plight. For white people, it can be a life-changing experience. Watching it is fine, but if you are black, the film will not tell you anything you don't already know.
      The trick is to get as many white and non-black people as possible to watch it - especially those who are ignorant, or even racist. Share on Facebook, talk about it to anyone and everyone, even if it upsets them or makes them shy away from you. Make fliers and put them up...send links. Take it to schools and colleges. Tell your coworkers to watch it. Talk to cops and get them to watch it.
      This is a time in which we cannot worry about making friends; we have to worry about making CHANGE!

    • @evonne1957
      @evonne1957 8 лет назад

      Ramone DeCurta I agree but there are those our here who don't want to give a damn racist and they don't. But for the ones who are open I hope it changes the way they view blacks in America.

    At 15:42 an audience member says that he's "half Puerto Rican and half black". There's no such thing. Puerto Rican isn't really even an ethnicity, it's a nationality.
    Puerto Ricans are an ethnic (some would say "racial") amalgamation of Black, Spanish and some other sh*t. Black is considered to be a race, for lack of a better word, even though there is only one true race: the Human race.
    Puerto Rican isn't an ethnicity, let alone a race, so how can a person be black and Puerto Rican. That's like being both a fish and a shark. Some fish are sharks, and some fish are other kinds. Some blacks are "African-American", while some blacks are Hispanic (African, British, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Brazilian, etc.)

    • @drunkpunkism

      Big deal, you know what he meant, just because he wasn't 100% politically correct doesn't make any difference.

    • @DeCurtaRican
      @DeCurtaRican 7 лет назад +8

      Jack In The North
      You're missing the entire point. it is a big deal. Racial identity politics is a strange game when you involve Blacks from the Caribbean.
      They want to be down with Black Americans when it benefits them, but they are sure to remind everyone that they are not Black Americans. Black Americans are as racially-mixed as any nation of Blacks, so it makes no sense for Black Hispanics to try to separate themselves. If you speak Spanish and identify with your culture, that's fine, but you're still BLACK!
      It's the same game that biracial Blacks play, only they have a little more justification for playing it. Puerto Ricans ae mostly Black Hispanics, as are Dominicans and Brazilians. They need to sit down.

    • @PrecedihaDangerfield
      @PrecedihaDangerfield 7 лет назад +3

      Ramone DeCurta I fully agree with your reply to the other persons response. As an African American I feel we are more aware of racial differences. We have less to lean on and so we can see how non African American blacks lean on other titles to make themselves seem "less black". I was just talking to my friend about this who is Latino. He was unaware of black identity just like anyone who isn't familiar with the black experience. The black experience encompasses skin color, hair, how you identify yourself and so much more. There is nothing wrong with being black and I think that America is still work on the concept.

    All the bad times I have had at the hands of blacks:
    I have been held down in my apt while two men in scream masks have robbed me
    I have had my car window broken while I was inside the car
    I have had one draw out his gun and point it at me
    I had one follow me around school, closing doors before I could reach them. I was invited to a house that he lived in, I was pulled up by my hair off the couch
    I had my friend taken advantage of on the street in front of me (he was robbed of whatever he had on him)’
    I had some ”christmas" balls thrown towards me and my companions and then we had to talk them down from getting in a fight with us
    I saw a Mexican who was backed into a corner by three, and he was saved by his female friend
    I had one jerk at me as I was walking down the street in front of his friends (3 months ago)
    I had one who followed me for about 5 blocks
    I had a group of four of them, maybe 13 years old, approach me and my friend and ask for money so that we were able to pass the street we were on in Paris. I noticed one of them had a hammer
    I watched my female friend have a kiss raped from her (Cuba)
    I was driving with my parents and my father yelled “STOP” while we were at a green light, I watched a car with blacks cruising through a red light
    I had some kids throw some rocks at my car
    I heard of a gang rape from a older woman I met. She was on vacation in Jamaica when three blacks broke into her cottage and raped her
    I have been confronted by one who told me that he was a police officer. I had to drop my car into gear to get away
