In comparison to other characters in this show, silvio honestly didn't have that much of a personality, i'll take paulie, melifie, junior or christopher over him anyday
How is Livia not even an honorable mention? Just because Nancy Marchand was only able to be in two seasons (for obvious reasons), doesn’t mean she wasn’t one of the best characters.
probably the chracter i hated the most, to the point where i honestly felt his death was unfair, because he deserved to be whacked by tony or one of the guys
The Sopranos is still one of my all time favourite tv-series, and a very good reasons. Impressive acting, memorable characters, awesome drama, it has written well, and it is a very well done all the way. HBO knows how to create best quality on television.
Silvio was the perfect underboss because he didn't desire to be number one , so he was infinitely loyal . He was perfectly happy where he was . And that's rare .
Patsy Peresi was one of the most underrated characters on this show. Tony had his twin brother killed by GiGi (another highly underrated character) and he knew it… yet he STILL stayed loyal until the very end. He put aside his completely understandable hatred of Tony and became one his his most trusted Capos & was one of the MVPs of the war with the Lupertazzi family.
@@Klynch111 yeah he also went there to Tony’s house to kill him & or Gigi but elected to piss in his pool instead of capital murder in front of the feds. Besides that he was one of the realest. Hell I think every member of the Soprano crew went against Tony & showed some form of disloyalty at some point, even Silvio went against when Tony after he promoted Chistopher to acting capo of Paulie’s crew & was grooming him as his second, Sil took it personally & told Patsy to steal those tiles when Tony specifically told them not too. Well I guess that’s another example of Patsy being disloyal too lol but still he’s a real one. So was Albert & Larry Barese, it sucks we didn’t get to see more of them, especially Albert, he was one of my favorite characters. Richie Aprile “Imagine that getting a facelift and one week later end up in the can” Albert “can you imagine that, getting a facelift and one week later end up in the can” lmao 😂
One of my favorite Paulie moments is when he is "explaining" Purgatory to Christopher and the equation that's used to decide how long you will be there before you go to Heaven. Too funny.
I would have replaced Blundetto with Artie Bucco. He was Tony's best friend in school and played the straight restaurant owner to a tee. He had many up and downs and was a very relatable character.
I literally just got done watching a episode. Its my fav show of times. I watch the entire series every year on November 1st after a month of Horror movies and take it to pass Christmas.
After watching so much crap on netflix, I return to Sopranos from time to time. This show is a treasure, the script, the tension, the raw and disturbing violence, the disgust, the dialogs, the characters, the humour, and the insane cast of superb actors and actresses. I miss this quality
I usually never complain about WatchMojo's lists but it's a capital crime that Paulie is only #10. There are so many characters that shouldn't be ahead of him. 🤌
I agree. Pauly is my favorite character. He’s the funniest in my opinion and Chris, Sil, Uncle Junior, and Bobby are funny to very funny too. Tony can also crack me up. Such a special show.
Junior is my favorite right now. I've watched the series so many times I change my favorite character each time I watch it lol. Its went from Paulie to Sil to Tony
Paulie had a lot to do in the show…… pine barrens and his relationship with Chris, his contribution to the Johnny sac - Ralph ie issue, as well as his issue with his mom
Paulie - psychopath and momma's boy who acted like a hurt little boy most of the time. Except for Pine Barrens, he didn't have much to do that was interesting.
Watchmojo should have done a top-20 Sopranos characters video: includin all of those in honorable mentions and Richie Aprile, Livia Soprano, Johnny Sack, Phil Leotardo etc. Livia and Artie are one of the most important characters on the show, Livia being the rootcause for many of Tonys problems while Artie is his only true friend.
"Before we unveil our number 1 pick". Had anybody here the slightest doubt in their mind that Tony isn't the number 1 character. By the way, not only on the Sopranos, but in all shows in general. I remember when the Sopranos was at its peak, everybody I knew wanted to be like Tony Soprano. RIP Jimmy :'(
@@burningbeard75 Omar was such a great character, that he even made an appearance on "The Sopranos" (he was the guy who hid Jackie, Jr. after his attempt to rob the card game ended in disaster).
The greatest characters in TV history. The greatest show in TV history. Not to mention, the Sopranos made it cool to be from Jersey. Prior to that we were always overshadowed by NYC. Long live the king of television, Anthony Soprano!
IMO Ralph Cifaretto should have been higher than 9. His fight with Tony over scrambled eggs (With a little bit of sour cream) is my favorite scene in the entire show.
Wow... I didn't know WatchMojo had any credibility to lose but it found a way to lose more. Livia Soprano's impact on Tony and the entire show is LEGENDARY. Easily a Top 5 character (for me, she's second only to Tony himself) and easily one of the greatest TV characters of all time.
I think that Phil Leotardo should have been on this list. Frank Vincent was one of the greatest gangster actors of all time after this role. He was the embodiment of the New York wise guy. He also had heavy Scorsese credentials as well.
How do you do this? Top 10 most iconic? They're all iconic. Even the one episode'ers. There will never be a more masterful cast again. From top to bottom they were brought together by a higher power and fate and made a masterpiece. True art.
My favorite is Tony Soprano. The reason is because he realizes he is weak from his fainting spells and self doubt yet he tries to get stronger through talk therapy. Too bad he uses his strength from it to operate his criminal organization.
My personal favourites besides Tony: 1. Christopher 2. Ralphie 3. Uncle Jun 4. Johnny Sack 5. Adriana 6. Paulie 7. Sil 8. Phil Leotardo 9. Carmela 10. Bobby Many other characters are really good too. Some of those are undeniably essential to the Sopranos, but part of their character is being so annoying that it’s hard to have them as favourites.
Ralph is the best "side character" (or seasonal antagonist) in the show. Joey Pants kills every scene. He's brilliant. So much charisma in the character. Brilliant performance.
Man Chris's intervention hit home so hard as i was hopelessly addiced to heroin and cocaine upon first viewing i never laughed so hard whilst being so sick 😂😂😂
10: Artie Bucco 9: Tony B 8: Jennifer Melfi 7: Junior Soprano 6: Paulie 5: Carmella 4: Ralph Cifaretto 3: Silvio 2: Christopher Moltisanti 1: Tony Soprano Honorable Mention: Livia (she should definitely be on the top 10 list but she's just so despicable of a character I couldn't do it), Richie Aprile, Janice Soprano (basically her mother just slightly less terrible) Bobby, Johnny Sac
