Great half dollar coins Spegtacular awesome designs , your zoom is really cool , shows the intricate designs of the coins so clearly, looking forward to future videos on your half dollar journey.
As a native Texan, I'm all about those Texas halves. I've got a few, but I'm holding out for the one I really want. It's got to be a 36 for the actual centennial, and I want something in pretty high grade, probably a 66 or 67.
Next to Morgans. classic commemoratives are my favorite to collect. I received my first one from my great grandfather and got hooked. the Texas commemorative and the Oregon trail are my two favorites. I have two of the Oregon trails. Stay safe GD
You are addicted hook line and sinker. The Iowa looks like a 65. Great set to get invested in, I simply love them. Best Indian is on the Oregon Trail,. And the best boat is on the Pilgrims reverse and both are part of the lower priced group. No problem with all your cash! LOL
Classic Commemorative coins have some of the most beautiful coins designs produced by the US Mint. I took me 3 years to complete my Classic Commemorative type set but was well worth it to have a nice example of each coin in the series.
the san diego coin looks like the worlds fair at balboa park way back when - its a very beautiful place there. I have lived there and worked near that area at one time.
As a proud Iowan, our commemorative 50 cent piece reads "Our Liberties We Prize And Our Rights We Will Maintain". That's our motto here in Iowa. I'm tickled that you own one of our coins!!!!
Thanks for sharing, I enjoy collecting these also. Who would've known a simple cheap Columbian half dollar purchase a couple years back would've gotten me into this and turned into this pricier collection route. Had a coin show about a month ago and I did get to grab about 6 or various ones I didn't have. So many others were there to chose from also, my LCSs occasionally have some of these, but huge range of collection available at various dealers from the coin show was great, even just to view the ones I wasn't buying.
I love collecting these and pre-33 gold too. I have been working on the Arkansas series, but also need to get a few more of the Boone series. I also have one of the Texas commems too. Recently added an Alabama 2x2, which set me back a bit. I've been on the lookout for a Missouri 2x4 but those are tough to come by.
Really nice vid about these coins. I just got my first commemorative half last month- the 1920 Pilgrim. It is actually a really neat rendering of the Mayflower on the reverse!
Bullseye Speggy!!! You landed this one right in my wheelhouse!! I've been a coin collector since I was a kid, and a stacker since my late 20's, and in my early thirties I got hooked on the commemoratives! I have a pretty good set, but am always on the lookout for ones I have yet to acquire and ones in better grades than the ones I do have!! LOVED this vid!! ps. Keep an eye out for some of those gold commemoratives!!
What an awesome collection of commemorative half dollars… I have had my eye on a bunch of these, but I keep getting outbid at auction for so many! Texas is my favorite as well and that one is on my bucket list… Very cool that you want them slabbed, for me I just want to have a collection of them… slabbage not needed…
Got me a NGC 1937-D TEXAS MS65 as well and I have a few other commemoratives in raw condition but a lot of people know there was 4 in total commemorative quarters. 1st 1893 Isabella Quarter and I have one NGC MS62 and the FYOI 1932 P,D and S quarters. Also got them in various grades. Commemorative coins never really took off and not many have been made but hoping new interest in these coins will spark values to be where they should be for there beauty and rarity. Going to a Coin show to see if I can pick up more like 1926 sequential and more etc..
Most of the dollars I buy are commemoratives. I break them out of the packaging and play with them. If anyone is going to touch my coins, it is going to be me.
The older commemorative coins have some great designs. Not such a big fan of the modern stuff but the older stuff is great. Also, it was nice to see your Texas commemorative in a video again. That's such a pretty coin. Thanks for sharing your commemorative collection. I look forward to the series!
I Always liked the Commemoratives , but decided early to focus on my type set and stopped after a few. I picked up a couple more of my favorites in the past few years. One is Gettysburg which is a super one. Have fun with it, lot of nice coins. Bill
Morning Speg! Those are some pretty sweet commems you picked up. A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a 1925 California Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar, one of my favorites because of the grizzly bear on the reverse. My dealer also had one of those Daniel Boone Halves, like yours, but he decided to keep it for himself. Happy coin hunting!
I'm doing the same thing with the whole buying a second of each commemorative so that I can have one nicer example slabbed and graded, and then one that's maybe not as nice for an album and kind of a nice display.... But that's awesome Speg! It's a good start, we're right at about the same amount, so now I feel like I have someone to take the commemorative journey with me! Lol if only on RUclips and if I'm the only one who knows it haha.
RAMMER JAMMER!... But yeah at least it wasn't a super expensive coin.. Maybe it'll pop up one day. I do have a couple of the modern commems but I really really enjoy the classics. RTR!!
Commems are obviously some of my favorite, with my #1 being the 1923 Monroe. Amazing coin. Amazing. Appreciate you being into the more numismatic side of things, a lot of stackers are kind of weird about buying ONLY pure silver, as close to spot price as possible. Meanwhile, trade dollars exist, and I appreciate that.
Nice coins! I have a beat up '83 Columbian and a 1982 George Washington. I think I read somewhere that you aren't a true collector until you have at least one or two commemoratives.
@@Spegtacular To me The Peace Dollar Obverse "Lady/Women" Reminds me of The Statue of Liberty. While The Eagle on the Reverse has always Struck me as Not flamboyant like some, But Standing Guard, Always on the Ready while Watching over America Far & Wide to Protect Her...
I have to say I don't have many half dollar commemoratives, but I HAVE bought my fair share of commemorative dollars. Aside from their year of issue, commemorative dollars seem to be almost "unpopular"...about 10 yrs back I was buying 5-10 yr old commemoratives on eBay for spot...and a few auctions for less.
I had an oregan trail coin in my hand today a coin dealer I know has it. I’m more of a bullion stacker so not to familiar with these just happen utube these coins and your page popped up. My question is was is one worth ms65 ?
You did spegtacular. Awesome collection, the old holder might become more valuable than the coin itself. Incidentally I also collect ammunition, was that a 30-06?
I found a 1986 commerative half with Statue of Liberty on one side and says a nation of immigrants on the back Denver mint in a box of halves from the bank
Commems fly under the radar. Some really low mintages, and most are very affordable. I have a 1936 s Columbia, talk about under the radar. About 8000 San Francisco minted.
I noticed in the image for this video that you made had a Pilgrim Commemorative. But I didn’t see you show it. That coin represents the very beginning of the America. William W. Bradford was the first elected Governor of Plymouth Rock. That settlement wrote the Mayflower Doctrine. You remember Smith that fell for Pocahontas. The Pilgrims had his letters with them. They stayed on the Mayflower for the first winter. They found the Indians seeds for their next crop that they left behind. Because the Indians moved for each winter. Then came back. But Bradford made peace with the Indians which could have easily been a fight. But they survived and it is also where we get our Holliday Thanksgiving from. Columbus crew took them their for religious freedom. They left England to Holland, but when Holland became friendly with England thay hired Columbus. To find them a place. At first there was two ships, but one had to many problems and the Mayflower took on all the Pilgrims. So now does that sound like an important coin to collect. And all of the coins you did show have more History then the Red Book gives you. But that’s what’s fun, if you like History. You have a great Video that you made. I only added more History because William W. Bradford it my 10th Great Grandfather. And the Mayflower on the Reverse is my favorite. I may collect all the Commemoratives with a ship on them. You have a great day.
When you showed us your second commerative half in one of your past videos. I reminded you that you like myself has the dreaded collectors DNA and I warned you that this DNA will lead you to try and get as many as you can afford. It's a great set but too rich for my taste. I also see that you have many that I have, start low and work your way up. You have justification for collecting them I believe they are low mintage and priced low. Beautiful Texas comm. I am a big fan of the Oregon Trail, Lincoln Illinois and Grant. I can not afford much more. Enjoy and be cautious. Beware of the comms. that are P,D, & S (Daniel Boone).
I was on vacation and bought like 4 of those from the coin guy. And 1 of your coi s
You gotta get a 1936 Wisconsin. I'm from Wisconsin so I'm a bit biased, but it's awesome.

The early silver commemorative half dollars are by far my most favorite.
Oregon Trail next? I love classic commemorative coins. Mine are in a Dansco album.
We’ll see shortly ;)
I recently scored a real gem raw from my LSC. I was never into them, but this coin spoke to me. I'll have to send this one in.

I love the Texas Half. I just picked up the Stone Mountain at a coin show a month ago.
Great video! Still looking for two of my "most wanted" - Lafayette Dollar and the Daniel Boone! The favorite I own is the Pilgrim.
Nice I have a couple of the 1893 Colombian Expo, 1982 George Washington, and 1923 Monroe Doctrine. Interesting.
I have a few modern ones but I loved the ones you have and might start with the old ones too. Great and enjoyable video as usual. Thanks.
