Oh this is wonderful!!!! I love being organised & this is perfect. I started junk journalling earlier this year & I’ve collected a crazy amount of stuff which I’m forever reorganising. This means I can build base boxes to fit my shelves & drawers & sort everything!! Thank you. ❤ I only ‘discovered’ you last night when I watched your craft room tour & it was amazing. 😻 I will be watching lots more of your videos.
Thank-you and welcome to my channel! Yes I love the ephemera boxes, not only do they help for organizing, they look so beautiful when they are full of goodies. Have a very creative week!
I remembered something I thought I should share. I have a techie who gives me the packaging from his stuff because it is luscious! Apple products have the best boxes but even cords and power supplies etc from other tech companies are super strong and high-quality. It’s such a shame most of those aren’t repurposed!
Finally! A way to use up all those boxes I've been saving! I was beginning to feel like a hoarder. This is a great idea, and a great tutorial. You're a natural teacher.
To have your “insertables” all together, compactly so, is the dream! And each container is separate and portable. I’m drowning in paper. This video is a life raft. Thank you.
LOL Thank-you Jane for your lovely comments and while the video might be a lift raft, Im not sure my paper box would float for long Hahaha, happy creating!
Great idea! Love this! And you did very well. No worries.. I’m Dutch and can perfectly understand what you say. You speak loud en clear and explain very well. Thx you so much for sharing.
Kim, it was so awesome to hear your voice again. I had no idea that you had just moved last summer. We Moved to Manitoba summer of 2020. Thinking you were already gone, I never attempted to contact you. Now I’ll be hooked on your videos. Loved it so much. Thank you.
Hello darlin! Yes we moved here this past summer and I did an entire blog about it. I will try to remember to send you the link. It is called The New Brunswick Journey if you want to search. It pretty much tells it all. Nice to see you here, yes lets try and stay in touch again. xoxox
Great ideas. Book pages AND THE GLUE CATALOGUE!! So simple but such a great idea!! I use an old plastic gift card/credit card for smoothing paper and the glue tape to make it easy to take the paper of the glue tape. The toilet paper tubes was EXACTLY what I was trying to do. Thankyou!!!!!! You’ve made my day (easier 😂😁)
So Kim…I’ve always wondered why more creative ladies don’t use their beloved supplies to create things for their own craft rooms & their home? You think like I do. Wasn’t sure anyone did any more so big thanks for that! Why not use stamps or alcohol inks to create custom-decorated tea dyed paper to cover your storage boxes? We used to sponge paint nearly anything that would sit still Ha! Glass jars are awesome too. Did you ever watch Carol Duvall on HGTV back in the 80s/early 90s? She had so many creative ideas about how to reuse things & how to create whatever you needed. I miss her but your fact-filled presentation style is very similar. So refreshing. Thanks again! Looking forward to more! Gotta go watch again in case I missed any tips.
Take away: hinge on corners. Genius. Using scissors instead of score boards. Practical, using what you have. Glue stick top for brayer I personally use pill bottles instead of paper tubes to hold pencils, glue stick, scissors, brush. And a shout out to Heidi Box. Several of them!!! I would envision one or two on round lace covered table between baby’s chair and your settee. Just sayin!!!!😻 How delicious is this!!!
I made a storage over 10 years ago for all my inkpads with slots to fit and covered it in scrapbook paper. Thank you so much for reminding me how this is done and I am off now to make one, two or maybe 5. Who knows! I think they're outstanding! Awesome tutorial and it is true, the uses are endless! xo Deb ♥
Thankyou Deb! Ohh please do share when you make these. I know they will be beautiful and of course I would love to see what they look like filled with your beautiful art!
What a great idea to store every kind of things e have in our craft room I wish I could dig in your ephemera boxe to see all the treasures you made Thank you for sharing I will start to collect empty boxes
Thank-you Darcy, I can't wait to see what you make. Maybe some of those delicious geli prints will be made up into the boxes. Ohhh pls do share and tell if you do! 😊
Very nice video, thank you! If you shop at one of the grocery stores like Aldi, where all their products are in their cut down shipping boxes, that you can bring your groceries home in, those boxes would be perfect to create a storage box out of! Think I need to go grocery shopping soon! Love this tutorial!
You are so great at repurposing! My mom repurposed a macaroni box for my doll storage when I was young and I still have it to store my hot glue sticks in. She would have loved watching your videos, as I am now.
Double thumbs up. Kim, I'm really enjoying your channel. You put a lot of work into this video. I love this kind of stuff. Way back before I ever started doing this stuff my friends teased me about my addiction to containers. Thank you for all your hard work.💙Diana.
Thankyou Diana, i know, containers filled with goodness, right? Cant wait to see what you create, and would love to have you show yours on your channel.
You’d be laughing all the way to the bank if you had followed your love to open something like The Container Store, right? You are not alone & they are probably just jealous of your brave creativity.
I learned so much watching your tutorial. I did this on a smaller scale with my tiny screws, brads and charms but never thought of making a large one. I am going to try this as soon as I get a box. Thank you so much, Kim.
Thank-you Janet! Ohhh do watch out, these boxes are addicting. You saw how many boxes I had in different stages of done on my work table in the video. My plan is to finish them all and show them in my next video. Stay tuned!
I had never noticed a paper packaging box LID is really a deep TRAY. That was enlightening! I’ve reused the cardboard trays from canned dog food & beautifully clean & sturdy Crystal Light plastic cans & cardboard toilet paper & towel tubes as well as clean steel food cans from green beans-which ( oddly) even bugs don’t seem to like! Watch out for creepy crawlies. Tiny specs of remaining food or even glues can be food for some bugs. Sealing with clear spray poly should prevent, so thanks again Kim!
Oh, wow!!! I loved this tutorial and ephemera storage box! So many uses and decorated to suit your taste. So very clever!!! Thank you so much for sharing. Be especially blessed!!! 💗
WOW!!! Great tutorial Kim! 👍 I love the way you explain it, going to start looking for boxes to make one (or a few) 🙂 Thank you for sharing Hugs and Kisses 😘😘
Good morning. I enjoyed the video very much. This is my first time watching. I love to make things out of cardboard. I look forward to see what you are going to do with the glue tops. Have a wonderful day.
I think this is a brilliant idea! I plan on creating one or two to start. Great way to use up everyday items, customizing them for your personal needs.
My first time to see you. Love these ideas! I'm a craft hoarder, lol. I have been rearranging my craft stuff and trying to condense it and have it just friendly. This will come in handy for some of my treasures. TY. wonderful tutorial! I have been watching these types of videos for over 5 years, so trust me. Great instruction and very informative. Pleasant to listen to. ❤
Welcome!!Thank-you so very much Shelly, and welcome to my channel. I have lots of tutorials to offer so I hope you are able to check some of them out. The ephemera holder is a fun project and when it is all filled up it always makes me happy. (I have 6 holders )Have a very creative week!
I've just discovered you! Absolutely fantastic ideas....not to mention the fact that it won't break the bank....AT ALL!!! I make junk journals and this is perfect. Thank you so much. Hello from BC. I will subscribe!❤❤
Thank-you Kathleen! Ohh I would love to see your version of this, it will be beautiful for sure. I know we come from the same tribe. I love your studio!
Thank you Kim, this is just what I need. Not just for papers but glues, glitters, embossing powders. Just love it! I have some wooden trays from old Christmas hampers that will be great!!
Kim got me thinking…a box like that would have been a great way to handle baby supplies at the changing table or coffee supplies in my coffee bar. Decorating the boxes with fabric or decor-inspired stuff like wallpaper scraps or even decoupaged can labels? I love pretty graphics so I will be watching for those. 🤔
This is an awesome tutorial, thank you! Looking for boxes I can use, and starting to save gluestick caps as we speak! Can't wait to see what you can do with them 😊
Hi Kim, what a great budget saving idea! I loved Cori Dalmen's ephemera tray and your tutorial has inspired me to have a go and make one out of cardboard. Thanks for this tutorial. 😀
This video was perfectly timed. I had been looking at vintage fabric covered boxes for my fabric fat quarters I use for slow stitching. The cost was way more than my budget allowed. I love this idea. I have boxes, lots of scrapbooking paper and book pages since I make journals as well. I will be making more than one of these….New Subbie.
I made one of these and I love it! Great idea. Thanks for sharing. I usually keep my desk 100% clear but I have finally caved and have one of these boxes on my desk now since it really does make everything accessible.
Love the box! It looks so cute on your desk with the quote card! Niw I want to go snooping at all of your fun goodies. Nice that you share a space with your hubbyman. It allows you both to enjoy each others company while you are playing separate. Have fun! I am now your newest subby! :)
@@imagesbykim hehe, we only have the one spare room so we have to share but I do love it. We have a lot of combined hobbies so it works out great! Woot! Thank you for subscribing. I am just getting into making ephemera, I mostly have bought supplies. Have a great day!
Off to make a small one to start (until I get friends drop off more boxboard) I’ll be using it with rolls in it for my crochet hooks, knitting needles too maybe! Hmmmm sooooo many ideas, thanks so much! Barb
I’m so excited about this project. I have so many little buckets everywhere taking so much room. This is brilliant and will be making one tonight!! Thank you so much. New subscriber❤
Fantastic ideas! I am looking around my room right now thinking of all the boxes I want to make. I absolutely agree about making them pretty. To have a beautiful life one should surround themselves with beauty! Hugs and blessings, 🤗❤️🇨🇦
Good job. I need to be organized in things as I hate to have look for things. My biggest pet peeve is looking for something that my husband used & didn't put back.( paper scissors, mailing tape, my phone, my tape measure, my address book, a tool)
Great tutorial Kim! Love the end results, so many things to store! My first will be the craft box for my granddaughters! They will be so excited to have their own go to box! I will be saving glue sticks caps!! LOL!
Love your box n that other one with the legs n flowers on the outside was so cute...I tend to like everything covered from collecting dust..but one who sews could make a cover for it...or one could use a bit deeper a box n place the cover over it when not using it..
Thank you for this tutorial. I have a box I started 3 months. After looking at your tutorial I can wait to finish it. I hope you have tutorials on the ephemera in you box because I saw some things I love. ( this is the 1st video of your I have watch I will be binge watching if I can find more videos 😂)
Thank-you Anita, well there are many video tutorials for you to watch including a whole playlist called Techniques Tuesday that has a lot of different ephemera you can make for your journals. Happy creating!
Ok. I know I am late. Just found you. At first I was skeptical, but waited it out. Now I am smiling. And here at the end, I am thinking you should maybe cover/ decorate those toilet paper rolls. It would complete the look!
OMG!! Such fun stuff! So many ideas, so many uses! I'm excited to begin enhancing my craftroom with this lovliness! TTYL, I'm off to start gathering potential boxes to decorate!!
Great tips! I've been using boxes like this for years, because I have a very small craft space (corner of the living room), and the plastic organizer thingies are not flexible enough in size to keep up with my ever evolving stash of supplies. I only keep what I am using or will use in the immediate future, since I cannot dedicate space to "things I might use someday". So the box tray method works very well for me. In fact the top basket of my cart has a jigsaw puzzle of boxes for ephemera in various stages of development. Thank you for sharing your version.
Thank-you Marcy! Yes organizing is a top priority in this style of crafting and can easily get away on us. I would love to see your ephemera holder when you make one, maybe even your version in a video? lets collaborate on this! Happy creating! Im your newest subby! :)
me encanto la idea!! siempre tengo todo mezclado y un lio bárbaro!!! pronto pongo tu idea en practica!!! gracias por compartirla!! saludos desde Argentina!!!
Thank you for this video i really need to make a few of these. Funny thing i save my glue caps already lol. Back to the ephemera box , thanks for all the great tips !!!
Kim, I enjoyed your video and you are so much fun. Detail covering on the boxes is inspiring , paper tape is a great idea. I have made boxes out of scrapbook paper, now I will just cover boxes. I have many saved. Thank You for sharing.
Late to the discussion by a long ways but I've spray painted the cardboard flats (the bottom box) in the past for storage purposes and it worked out very well. I did two light/medium coats and they're very smooth and evenly coated. Then you could cover all the small boxes if you want, or spray them with colors according to purpose. Not to put off your way of covering them--they're really very nice, but for those of us with less patience (lazy) the paint works well too.
Really good video for me personally. Love the extra little tips and common sense approach. I like the inside boxes being able to move around and change configuration. Thanks, I have just subscribed!
Hey darlin! Yes for sure you must make one and you need to go read all the comments on the video of the jewelry box that I posted. You will have some fun laughs!
Thank-you Yvonne, I would luv luv luv to see your version of the ephemera boxes. it would be absolutely gorgeous no doubt! I look forward to your video version? Just putting it out there girl! ;)
Thank you for providing many suggestions as I kept thinking awe yes, that's a great. I'm excited to create some of the boxes for the realistic suggestion that resonated with me. Surprisingly there were several to which it is useful. I'm excited to learn about saving glue caps. Don't know what for yet. I'll just start with this one. My first time coming across your channel. Subscribed.
Thank-you and Welcome! This is a fun project and the results after are so worth to have sitting on your desk. Happy creating! The videos for the glue caps are done, let me know if you have any trouble finding them.
Love love love your ephemera storage box creation! It’s refreshing to finally see someone think INSIDE the box. :) I would enjoy seeing what you make with glue caps. Although I don’t use ten glue caps in a year, I’m sure other plastic caps or cylinders might work. Sometimes when I look at the beautifully- designed and still-useful packaging that I toss, it makes me sad. It’s great to see a creative lady actually use the 2nd (neglected) R word from…reduce REUSE & recycle! Thanks!!
Oh this is wonderful!!!! I love being organised & this is perfect. I started junk journalling earlier this year & I’ve collected a crazy amount of stuff which I’m forever reorganising. This means I can build base boxes to fit my shelves & drawers & sort everything!! Thank you. ❤

Finally! A way to use up all those boxes I've been saving! I was beginning to feel like a hoarder. This is a great idea, and a great tutorial. You're a natural teacher.

This is great. I started making one straight away from a strong cardboard box I had on hand.
Thank-you Margaret, happy creating!
I just found your channel. We have moved to living a tiny life. I needed ideas for storage. Forgot about making my own boxes..
Thank-you, Happy creating!
That is how I have made up my boxes to store ephemera. But I did not get to the next level like yours. I think I need to do that. Very nice
Awesome! I’ve made little boxes before, but never thought about grouping them like this! Thank you for the inspiration….loved this tutorial 🥰
Thankyou Kimberleigh, i would love to see you create one and please do show and tell.
What a great idea to store every kind of things e have in our craft room

Thank-you! Ohhh I would love to see the doll storage. So nice that you kept it.
Double thumbs up. Kim, I'm really enjoying your channel. You put a lot of work into this video. I love this kind of stuff. Way back before I ever started doing this stuff my friends teased me about my addiction to containers. Thank you for all your hard work.💙Diana.

Love your ephemera box. I'm going to have to make one out of my staples box covers from work! Brilliant!
Thank-you Happy Creating!

Love your box n that other one with the legs n flowers on the outside was so cute...I tend to like everything covered from collecting dust..but one who sews could make a cover for it...or one could use a bit deeper a box n place the cover over it when not using it..
I will follow your channel n that cookie tray idea sounds great too ...2 trays glued 1 inside the other could be more sturdy....
Thank-you Sarah! Yes covers are easy to make, and would be great for stacking! Have a very creative day! and Happy Thanksgiving!
Just beautiful, Kim. Even if it weren't useful, it's so decorative. Love it and the excellent instructions.
Thank-you very much, there are so many possibilities for these boxes. Happy creating!
LOL Shhhhhh!!!! I am hoping no one noticed that I didnt cover them! Hahaha Thank-you Laurie and welcome! Have a very creative weekend!
OMG!! Such fun stuff! So many ideas, so many uses! I'm excited to begin enhancing my craftroom with this lovliness! TTYL, I'm off to start gathering potential boxes to decorate!!
Thank-you Janet! Ohh yes, these are addicting, and wait till you see some more of my organizer videos to come soon.

Wow! Thanks! This is a fantastic project!❤️❤️❤️
Thank-you KatieJo! Happy creating!

That is actually a very good idea, thank-you for sharing! Have a very creative weekend!
Hey lets finish this box, gave me a laugh, love it!

Thanks!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great idea!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Thx marlene, happy creating!
Thank you for this tutorial Kim, I love how you’ve organised your papers/ephemera using these boxes. I’d love to see your idea with the glue caps too.
Thank-you Sharon, the tut for the glue caps will be done in a couple of weeks, stay tuned!
