    Some great tips but I would like to offer one. People who do junk journals might not stamp a lot and therefore don't know. Please don't rub your stamp across the ink pad. This causes ink to build up on the side of the design wall as it is scraped across. This can result in a blurred image. Instead, tap the stamp up and down on the pad, building a layer of ink, putting the ink on the top surface of the design, not the wall. This is especially important when you have a detailed design or a solid image. Press straight down on paper and press all around, don't rock the stamp. I hope this helps for those of you who wonder why your stamped images come out blurry.

    • @rootpursuit
      @rootpursuit  2 года назад +22

      That’s good advice! I never learned proper techniques, so I am sure that is happening to my ink pads. Thanks for the suggestions!

    • @recoveringsoul755
      @recoveringsoul755 Год назад +2

      That is good advice. But stamps are purchased, not "junk" or something you'd normally throw away. I think a true junk journal would be made of things you normally would throw out. So making marks with ribs on corrugated cardboard might qualify as a stamp. Made with old coffee or something maybe

    Kelly, I love your tips! My favorites were putting on hand lotion before crafting, using pattern paper to stamp images, making a stamped images book later use, and gluing paper scraps into a book for later use. I would like to see more of the suggestion to expand a spine with fabric. I cannot visualize the finished journal. I think I will search for a video on this technique. It is an intriguing idea. Thanks for the tips!

    All great except a word of caution regarding using acetone based glues such as Fabri-tac in well ventilated room only. Advisable to wear gloves to avoid prolonged skin contact for some as well. Read safety warnings to protect precious health.
    I prefer to use non toxic wallpaper paste instead. No wrinkles even on the most delicate paper. Good luck!

    Great video!!! All the tips in one place, finally lol. I have a tip that I can't remember where I saw, but have never seen since. And can't believe that bcuz it's genius. If you stamp regular tissue paper (with archival ink), tear it out and Mod Podge it to your page, the tissue paper will disappear upon drying and all that's left is the image. It'll make you look like a maestro!!! This also works if you draw the image yourself as long as you use waterproof pens like Sakura Microns.
