Thanks for addressing the pressure knock sound!!! I was hella confused when I parked one day and it sounded like something was running around my trunk lmao, good to know now that it’s a normal feature ☝️☝️☝️
I've enjoyed the fact my car literally passes gas since the first time I heard it. I guess modern ones are silent, but I always trust audible farts more anyways.

Way back in the 1970's my wife owned a 1964 Mini Deluxe. Unfortunately it was stolen from the local railway station & found a few days later - on its roof next to a polluted creek. She was absolutely heartbroken. She also told me that there were three things Mini owners always did back then - 1. Always wave to fellow Mini drivers. 2. Whenever possible - park next to another Mini & 3. Always name your Mini - hers was named "The Road Runner". She recently purchased a 2010 Mini Camden 50th anniversary edition & she loves it. And guess what? It's called "The Road Runner 2". Cheers from Melbourne Australia.🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
The official MINI USA website has a list of the Rules: 1. Always park next to other Minis 2. Wave/acknowledge other Mini drivers 3. Give your Mini a name 4. No two Minis should be alike (be unique!) 5. Treat SUVs with compassion (they don't get to drive a street-legal go kart) 6. Put away your middle finger 7. Embrace the Mini Community! 8. Find a Copilot (human or animal!) 9. Admire your Mini 37. ALWAYS BE READY TO RALLY!
You really made the car shine from that first video after you got it. It looks beautiful. By the way, I couldn't drive safely in the insane traffic without the little mirrors on the bottom of the regular mirrors that show the blind spots on either side. They have prevented me from hitting any traffic that I didn't notice was there.
Sir Alec Issigonis was the engineer and designer of the original Mini. I don’t know anything about the gin but the Queen is rumored to enjoy a martini. He was knighted by the Queen in 1969.
Hi, for your problem with the hatch. You can press and hold the hatch-unlock button on the keys for two seconds and the lock will open. Then you can just open the hatch manually with your hands. I had that problem recently with my mini cooper s from 2011. Then I had to exchange the whole plastic board with the button for the hatch for it to work again properly. I think there was water damage to the electrics in the trunk button. I searched for sooooo long on all possible forums and websites for an answer when i accidentally pushed the unlock button for the trunk and i discovered that trick :) Hope this helps.
For the mirrors - You don't have to hold it for them to fold in and out. Also, it doesn't matter which way you go, you can fold the mirrors in and out with either direction. I often push it to the left for both in and out, and my wife goes to the right for both. You can also do the windows up and down by using the internal key into the handle on the outside, and holding lock for rolling windows up and holding unlock for rolling windows down. It's not really necessary when you can just hold the unlock/lock buttons on the fob - but the more you know.
two things. One: if you install that spacer by your Turbo's Blow Off Diverter, you will get a check engine light as you are releasing pressure that the car is expecting to still see in the system, so perhaps do not do this mod, unless you are prepared to do MORE mods to remove these errors. Two: you can create your OWN release latch/cable for the rear hatch, if you are without one. Very easy to do. Use a 12-18" fishing line metal leader. it connects to a specifically designed spot ON the motorized latch mechanism. I just had to create two for my Clubbie a few weeks ago after the electric latch failed. Very easy to create/install.
That's only true of N14's and mostly due to the old style diverter valve. N18's run spacers without hiccups all day. A popular mod to do is upgrade the DV on your N14 to the style used on the N18 which is a superior design. Then you can run the spacer, and will unlikely set a CEL.
@@LynxStarAuto Still a blow off is not necessary as it kinda causes unnecessary release of turbo pressure and as a result power loss. Do correct me if I'm mistaken though
I believe n18 and 14 have electronic controlled actuators or wastegate. There are no analog parts as you’ll find on a typical turbo wastegate. Aside from the spring and a diaphragm. Spacers don’t really provide any gains. In fact can be harmful. Blow offs like Alta do more harm than good. Robbing and confusing the specifically designed electronic actuator.
Hi, To answer your question about Mini Diesel, here in Europe, there were 2 diesel engines : PEUGEOT 1.6 L HDI 90HP (One) /109 HP then 112HP (Cooper) and a BMW 2.0L 143HP (Cooper SD). ;-)
Thank you! I’ve had my Mini Cooper S for 10 years and you’ve shown me some new cool stuff. Going to change the color of interior lights to blue right now!
The folding mirrors are also automatically heated, witch is very useful on colder days in the morning. You can also fold them in while driving less then 50 Kph (30Mph).
Hi, I just found your channel. I'm a First Gen Mini guy (R53 & R52 S) and I knew a few of the secrets in the second Gen too. The one I enjoy the most in the first gen is with no key, just push the stereo button and the radio will play for 20 minuets. P.S. I got my first Mini in 2004 (still have it with 287,109 K) and I never heard the rear wiper thing. We just usually wave when passing and park next to each other whenever possible - Rule #1
Thank you for all the cool stuff. I’ve got a 2007 Mini Cooper S. I don’t think it has Bluetooth. I could be wrong, but I can’t access any phone menus. I might need to install something but no luck with Bluetooth. I gave it a try. Thanks again!
They don't all have Bluetooth, but I think they all have the steering wheel with the speech/phone symbol button, so it does add some confusion. I think maybe after 2010 it was standard equipment, but otherwise you gotta mess with additional boxes and wiring and then i think get the option coded into ECU as well....and it's totally not worth it since many without bluetooth option still have the aux input and can buy a bluetooth kit that will actually allow music, voice, etc from the phone with modern bluetooth quality and features. I stuck the metal circle on the center console right below the cd slot and the bluetooth control with forward/back/play magnetically attaches there and barely looks out of place. Probably better for voice pickup there as well.
Hey man as someone who services these for a living, that thumping sound from the fuel tank is actually a failing fuel filter module. Basically, these cars have a serviceable fuel filter. Though it is rarely serviced or even mentioned when you take it to service because few know of it. Plus it's such a PITA with a high chance of failure, that those that do know about it don't bother mentioning it because they don't want the headache and the repair costs to escalate. But yes basically it's called fuel filter repair kit part # 11252754870 However, the chances the module will survive the disassembly process is slim/next to none. So what we recommend is the entire fuel filter module part # 16112755084 It's a bit pricier because it includes the fuel float for that side. But yes, thumping is no bueno. Will eventually leave you stranded.
@@VetOnVettesYep very, very common. It's a coin flip whether the housing will survive the disassembly process. For us shops, it's too much liability. Better to offer the customer the whole component as it results in a higher quality repair, that's easier to warranty. Also, the cap up top develops cracks with time which results in a fuel leak, and odor, and at times a CEL for an evap system leak. That cap is not sold separately. You have to buy the whole shebang to fix that. So overall, it's more feasible to replace the whole thing.
Still think it's hilarious that you have a Mini Cooper & a C5 Corvette like myself 😂 I've had my Mini 7 mos., so starting to get used to it. I have an R56 2006 With the Twin Sunroof but previous owners seemed to have been forcing it open when not possible and causing the motor to "skip teeth" resulting in the sides of the sunroof opening at at different angles. Then someone tried to correct it by removing a bracket located in the centre-front of the sunroofs edges that connected the front window and back window together . They never put the bracket back when they couldn't figure it out. I have the sunroof moving manually , lubricated, new motor etc but need that bracket and cant find it online. Any advice is truly welcome
Many mini cooper models have a hidden flove box. The piece of trim in between the actual glovebox and underneath the ac vents, if you push in will come out revealing a small space to store stuff.
For hatch release with dead battery - you might look on drivers side in the hatch interior - pop off side panel and look for release cable there - R56 2011. Option 2 - if you have it - any 12v battery can be connected to actuate release - very low amps required. I have a 911 where this is mandatory as battery is under the bonnet which is electrically released. I use a portable =Yeti generator for such tasks.
When the key is inserted in the ignition it will be charged automatically... You could just install a cord to the lock on you're own, or buy one from another retired Mini and install that one...I've heard from an unreliable source that Yeager fits in the door too!
Me also am one of the few who reads the manualS. Exactly for these “tips”. The cargo backseat tip is for rectangular cargo. With the seats moved onto forward position it’s back is a 90 degree angle. Fits much more of those large rectangular suitcases. If you use an older model without usb. Use a 3.5 mm jack usb receiver. This way your car stereo plays your phone’s sound. Let it charge via the 12v plug. If you don’r have an armrest add a rectangular pillow. Wide enough so it’s jammed in between the backrests. It’ll rest on the handbrake without slipping. With the clubman you can pop-out the right rear barn door a bit with the remote. Long-press the button on the right. Opposite of unlock. Read your manuals….. I do not like the fact this manual doesn’t list the country specific options. The other day i was looking for the compass but this is only for US models. Mine is Swiss. Does have the opening in the rear view mirror though….

Secret is you have to replace the engine every 60,000 miles. Headgaskets leak, bad engine mount design. Even the 2022 models have this problem. They're made to fail. 1.5L, 1.6L and 2.0 all have a engine mount bolted to the head.
Can you elaborate? Recently got my engine replaced (thank God it was in warranty) at... you guessed it, 62k miles. Extreme carbon build up caused the 4th cyl to blow
