- Widebody Conversion kit on Charger or Challenger problem! Make sure you keep these issues in mind when you're converting your Charger or Challenger to a widebody. You can go with the OEM style widebody or bolt on fender flares to your SRT body style to give your Charger or Challenger a wider more aggressive stance. If you're looking at Ikon Widebody Conversion or Vicrez widebody conversion make sure to check this out. These conversion look like OEM Charger Widebody.

So what were your first thoughts the moment this happened? I would've walked into the woods and just started swingin on wildlife and trees... basically this would end me!🤣🤣 After all the work you've done man. And its not even a big deal! I'm just petty. 😅😅😅
hahahaha - def not the best but it's really not a massive deal. Seems to be happening to everyone though - just need to get the right tire setup for the front
I will wait for the next video to see the review on the 315 35 20 please I'm converting my srt into widebody in a few weeks I just need the size of the wheels thnx for the content
The RT bee u got as your profile pic can u make a merch website where u sell em in all colors for the 5.7 hemis so we can badge our cars with em ? As the bee stinger as the /
Where did you go to get this done, wanna put some on mine
You’ve inspired me to build my RT into a monster thanks for all of your videos.!
Finally someone shows the same problem I’ve been having on mine.. smh and I thought it was just me!!! Thanks my buddy for showing the truth
and your RT looks bad ass....love what you've done done to personalize it...nice job.
Thanks man - I really appreciate it. So far this has been a lot of fun
Great Info. Can't wait to see those final dyno numbers!
Once we have the tuning in place this thing will be throwing up big time numbers
Great video! Definitely a lot of things to consider with a widebody kit.
yah it's such a great look, but it does have some draw backs if not done correctly.
So question, are you saying if we cut the fenders that this wouldn’t likely happen? Reason i ask is i was able to find some used fenders for next to nothing and was just gonna cut those for my kit. Just tryna prevent this from happening to me! Thanks
Aye did you buy the flare separately cause the same thing happen to me when I just got the car a week ago from a previous owner not proper way of doing it ! So I was wondering how you just get it to stay and also the separate part!
NYC Potholes are the WORST! Sorry my Dude, appreciate the transparency!
Yah the roads are brutal. Def thought this would be helpful info for those looking to do this
Always providing good info thanks!!
I try. Thank you for the support
Hope all goes well car looks and sounds great
Where can you order just 1 fender flare for the Dodge Charger at ????
Those 315s though 😍!!! I hope it works out better for you man. Hey FP! Love that HC too.
The 315’s are much better - hopefully they do well! Thank you
Thank u 🤗❤
cleanest charger ive seen yet!
I’m seeing this a year later , currently going thru this same process did that 315/35/20 do well overall or would you recommend going 315/30/20 all around
Dope video, thanks for keeping us up to date on all issues! On a side note, FP2000 lost a lot of weight!!! Good for him! 👍🏼
yah he dropped a lot of LBS! I try sharing the good with the bad. Hopefully it helps some people down the line
Please tell me what adhesive you guys use to keep it on cause the 3M tape vicrez sent doesn’t work my flare flew off!!
Hold on now you got to remember the number for the sidewall is just a percentage of the tread width. So on a 275/ 40, that's 275 mm of width and 40% of that for sidewall
i hear yah man
Dam man sorry to hear.😭
it happens - just need to drive more careful
I would get a pair of new fenders and cut those. You already need a nose cowl and for Challies, you need marker lamps and the splitter.
Im thinking of doing this although I would love to see what just the REAR would look like, for a 275 front, 305 rear.
I actually like the reverse indent of the front stock Challenger fender, but 305s on the rear would wreck the paint from rocks and stuff, and it needs a protector. I wonder if it would look goofy or too much like a Renault 5 Turbo
Wait you have a 35 side but the guy with the cat said don’t go over 30?
Was he lowerd? Can you do 35 with stock suspension?
So if i use my 275/35/20 hellcat wheels with 1.5 inch spacers you think that will rub or I’ll be in the clear?
Love the hood you got going on! Where did you get it?
Do you have 315/35/20? Whats the size of wheels? I just installed wide body kit on my charger but i dont know what tire setup and offset i need for WB setup
Your car looks awesome 👍I’m a little old-school ..I like The slim body I could’ve bought the widebody but I like the way it looks reminds me of the old days😂👍
oh I hear you. The widebody has a new school look to it esp on the Charger. The regular body style (challenger) really holds true to the old school muscle heritage.
Yeah I'm with you on that I got a 2020 Hellcat smoke Show color and when I initially saw the wide body come out I hated it to me the first thing that come to mind it reminded me of a car on a Mad Max movie which is kind of ironic cuz they were always hunting gas and I know I damn sure I am LOL but it ain't about miles per gallon it's miles per gallon
Did you ever put in those bump stops. Where did purchase them
I just got my widebody kit, what size of tires do i need? I don't drive or do anything crazy.
I’m running a 20x9 so If I wanted to run a 255/35/20 I should be clear right ?
What are the correct tires to purchase due to offset problems?
So what is a good widebody kit brand that looks like it’s factory made ???
Thanks for this!! This was my fear of spending money and unwanted issues...
I ran the exact same set up for my widebody R/T and was worried free when I pulled off the lot after installing my widebody kit. 305 35 20s Lanvigator Catchpower and my front fender got kicked off 😞☹️☹️ im wrap came off on that whole panel and Im too embarrassed to drive it now. PLEASE HELP
Would a stiffer shock help? I know from mine when I changed out the stock shocks which are more for comfort and the Bilstein B12 kit I put on made car little more stiffer.
I think the RT will get some coilovers soon. This way it can be adjusted so there are no issues
@@RTLife thats the best way there. I hope after I get done with Mike at OST Dyno and he gets me tuned and injectors I would like to head back up there when there is a car meet going on. Let me know if there is any big ones coming up I wanna see your RT all done and running 100%
Not feeling the low profile tire on that black cat....now you have to worry about cracking a rim on the those same potholes..... the transparent information you put out is what I like about your videos, helps others from making the same mistakes....ps tell your boys to stay north, it's too crowded down here in 😆🤣
I think I'm going to give bump stops a try. They slip right onto the strut & stiffen it up. I love the look of the 315/35/20 - so I will make it work. I try all the popular upgrades & give my honest feedback/experience - good/bad. Hoping this helps people in some light. Thanks man
The lower profile tires seem to work well. Didn't seem to have an issue the other day when we met up.
The ones I have on seem to be doing a solid job. Hopefully it stays that way.
@@RTLifedid u end up having any problems because ur tire setup looks way better than the black hellcat charger
That sucks, hopefully you can make an improvement and install it with bolt on vice the goopy glue, maybe different rim and tire combo. 👊🏼
is that a nail in your front passenger tire?
Where did yu get the replacement flare?
I'm installing my widebody kit on mine at the moment. I ordered my 315s and i just picked up some 20x11 widebody wheels with a -2.5mm offset. Now i'm debating if i should cut the fenders or not. so i must ask, how's the flares holding up with the 315s? what's the offset of your wheels?
Cut the fenders so you can drive with a clear mind. I drive around like this thing is lowered. No issues since putting the 315/35/20 on but I might upgrade my suspension so there is less travel in front.
@@RTLife okay, will do. You cut your fenders after this video?
nope. Just glued it back on & switch to a thinner sidewall tire. Went from 275/40/20 to 315/35/20 - much more space between tire & fender flare.
@@RTLife my kits installed but i rub from time to time. i see that i can use strut spacers to raise the cars height by 1.2 inches and i think that should be enough for clearance. i found a kit for $200. but i have a question, have you ever heard of strut spacers and do you know anyone that uses them? im thinking of trying them out cause i dont want to cut the fenders without exploring every avenue first.
Sucks bro. I might of missed it but did you lose the flare or were you able to recoup it? 🤘🤘
I wasn't going fast - just a monster pot hole. It knocked it loose so I just ripped it off
What’s going on with the twin turbo build? Are you just waiting to get it properly tuned?
yah at this phase the tuning is the only thing left. They just installed the new screw in intake sensor & hellcat map sensor. Just need to figure out loading up the tune
@@RTLife take it to someone to dyno. Don't load a tune. Loading tunes can be done but better for you anyway to get the numbers
I think im gonna go with Clinched Flares, 1.5 front 2.7 back, im also installing a cowl hood soon :)
Nice! Let me know how it all ends up looking after.
Those things are pricey - came across them researching. When done right, they look really cool
@@RTLife im thinking $600 for 4. Im going spray my car satin black as well, with a 5" cowl it should look gritty, supercharger next :)
Very helpful info.
glad this was helpful in some way
I’m running 275 30 20 on the front and 305 30 20 on back I have not ordered my kit yet but this helps out a lot 🙌🏿
You should have plenty of clearance with those tire sizes.
@@RTLife I have 275/40/20 fromt and back 315/35/20
@@RTLife ima buy it
Your car is such a beast
Thanks man - def a lot of fun to drive
Hey bro, I’m kinda new to this kind of modification and I was wondering if you could tell me if - Fullway HP108 315/35R20 ZR 110W XL A/S All season performance tires would fit 20x11 Wheels? I’m embarrassed that I know so little about tires.
Don't feel embarrassed at all. We're all learning this stuff as we mod. Yes it will fit & that's a pretty good looking tire.
@@RTLife thank you so much, you’re helping me a lot, I got a RT police charger and I was having a lot of question bc the brake system seems different from a normal charger and I thought that 20x11 wheels wouldn’t fit, but I really appreciate your help
Is your car stock level height and whats your current wheel setup i don’t want to put my fender flares on until I get the right tire setup
Yes it is stock ride height. I've had much better luck with using 315/35/20 all around. The 275/40/20 was to much sidewall - needed more clearance.
how long did u have them for before the flare broke off? Also was the guy with the black charger widebody lowered at all or did he just run a 285/ 20
I think it was about a month before this happened. The black charger is a hellcat - his suspension was struggling with the widebody setup.
@@RTLife Do u recommend me getting spacers and stud extenders and cutting the fenders? im on lowering springs srt wheels
You def need to cut the fenders if you want to stay lowered. You will have so many problems
What if you went 20 x 10.5 for wheels with 305 35 20 tires? Do you think it might rub if I go widebody?
The 305/35/20 would be the reason for not rubbing.
The RT bee u got as your profile pic can u make a merch website where u sell em in all colors for the 5.7 hemis so we can badge our cars with em ?
With the RT and the bee stinger is the “/“
So what size tires and rims do i get?
What about reducing rim size down to 18. As others say 40/30/20 is just a percentage. The lower sidewall the rougher ride. It’s tire height so reducing front rim and going with shorter tire will get you the clearance.
Side note. Smaller rim is less weight, less rotational mass so ultimately reduce EP’s
I'm likely going to give Bump Stops a try. The new 315/35/20 tire seems to be doing much better - but 2 bump stops in the front should work nicely. I do like the idea of less weight though on the rim/tire setup
@@RTLife my heart sank when I saw your car. You’ve put so much time and passion into your ride and it’s beautiful
Hey , i know you have done alot of work to the car , if you dont mind me asking how much you pushing ?
Once the fueling system is installed I'll be able to tell. At this point I don't really know
common problem with adhesive only applications...
If they screwed it in - I think it would have cracked. The increased space should help a lot
Great looking cars
Thank you
So would that happen, even if an owner purchased a widebody off of the dealership lot, and left the same tires on that it came off of the lot with?
no this wouldn't be an issue for a stock widebody. They have the fenders cut so you can even lower them without any issues
Live and learn we have to expect some downfalls when we Mod.
Great video..love the hood on ur RT its dope as fuck..Ur RT just looks better..stands out more .👍
Thanks man - def gives it a more aggressive look! I appreciate it
Honestly bro, just cut the fenders, your set up looks badass and I really doubt you’ll ever go back to the stock look. Your charger has been completely dialed into your personality/taste that I can’t ever see it going back to stock. The build has evolved as your channel has evolved
Exhaust Setup?
Why is no one doing a fibreglass, carbon fibre gaurd with the flare moulded on like the jdm drift gaurds
Hellcat enforcer has that. I’m sure it’s much more $
Also did lower the car play a factor too?
I put the stock suspension back in place. I think the strut may need to be replaced
Is the 315 35 20 rubbing amd is this the same problem on the challengers?
I think more people are going 305/30/20 & seeing better results. I have to hit a massive drip going very very fast to hear any rubbing
@@RTLife ok thanks for the help
Same thing happen to me lucky enough the company I got mines from allowed me to purchase just the missing part. But I remove all my flares and mounted them down again but with more then just glue or tape.
Nice 👍- you live and learn. Have you had any issues since?
@@RTLife None so far and it been few months and my city has a lot of pot holes 🕳 . I only have one issue because I install my own kit and that is my rear end kit may be rubbing against my tires but in process of getting it lifted about a inch.
It's always something right?
So true. Always something!
That's why I've changed my mind about the wide body kit. Only reason I wanted it was too keep my wide wheels under the fenders. Without cutting the fenders, you don't gain any extra clearance. 😔
Yah you have to cut the fenders if you want those fat tires. I’ll likely get some coil overs and stiffen up the suspension
@@RTLife That's the main thing I like about the Hellcat. The active suspension. Coilovers are nice, but tend to need constant adjustment. If only the SRT active suspension could be installed in the R/T....
@@DJGRoc ikr
@@DJGRoc can the srt active suspension be installed in scatpack
@@alexander_3923 I believe that's one of the options for the Scat, but only when buying new. If you have a Scat already, I think the only way add the active suspension is with either a PCM swap or at least reprogrammed PCM. You might check the forums out there. A lot more guys that are more knowledgeable than I. 👍🏼
Why don't you get a suspension lift or air lifts?
I’m likely going with a stiffer suspension
I will try soon the 305 30 20 all around let's see how that works 👊😈
I think that will fill it out a bit more
Maybe you could run stock springs it should help
I think coilovers will solve this issue. You can adjust the height & stiffness.
I m glad to see they got the valve dropping issues under control
Yea I lost mine already I still have to order mine
I think stiffer suspension would do the trick
Love the car 🔥
Thank you
The installers are to blame. I have the kit on my challenger and it had to be modified. Modify the flares to the car/ wheel and tire set up and you’ll be fine. Should have been done during installation.
Ouch! Hope you got it squared away OK!
it was fixed the next day. Hopefully the extra clearance of the new setup works. Thanks man
Noooo!!! Looks like an easy fix though. Your car is sick!!!
yah it was - back on the next day. Not a massive deal. Just want to make sure people have a heads up
This car's sound while accelerating is.....THE MOST...BAD ASS......motor sound....Ever....Ever....ever
Thank you - I really appreciate it!
Put a 1/2” bump stop on the shock shaft. Low profile looks goofy. The bump stop on the shock shaft will stop from hitting the flair.
didn't know that was a thing. Thank you for the heads up on that.
@@RTLife you will obviously lose suspension travel, and it might make things squirmy at 10/10s driving as the “bump stop” will change the suspension rate but I don’t think you are putting this through the twisters. I did this with my 2012 S197. I had the Ford racing suspension kit and it bottomed out hard on the front. I took and extra bump stock, split it, and it installed it in the shaft. No more bottoming and chewing up my fender liner/tires.
Ouch..this is why when i modded my jdm I did everything the way it supposed to be done. Pay to play. The black one don’t look right with that tire size. Plus he is risking bent rims.
What's up bro, I have to say I keep my original or buy the real deal, that dosen't make one of my favorite 5.7 bad looking, because your car is one of the best looking 5.7.
I love the wide body look but I personally would not convert one over. I would buy one. That's just me personally.
Yah there are def drawbacks to doing the conversion. This is a cool upgrade though
I agree some conversion kits look clunky
Glad I kept my Fox body . 457 horsepower. 12:14 quarter mile no power adder. Ten times the charger . These Mopars will never last 30 years. 342. Ford stroker .
@@honestpainter why are you here ford guy geesh
@@honestpainter and I got money to keep my dodge running 50 years so 🤫🤫🤫
Man, nor sure if your in Texas, but if you are, I use to live in Dallas, TX and they have massive pot holes!
I’m in NY. It’s brutal
Cut it and call it good man! 😂✂️. You won't have to worry about the tire size stuff or risk popping a flare. I still don't regret cutting mine. I air out on a rim and tire that a oem widebody does. Just curious, why don't you want to cut yours?
Do you have any pictures on how much you cut
@@Vazzy44 it's all documented on my channel. Whatch my vids
Do u run wheel spacers? If so how wide?
8mm spacers all around
This is exactly why Dodge cut the fenders for the widebody. Going with a lower profile tire comes with its own problems...rougher ride and greater chance to bust the rim. If people want the widebody, then don’t cheap out and do it right by cutting the fender.
Yup. The extra clearance is why they can be lowered. I’m sure a stiffer suspension will solve the issue
didnt know you were on long island! im in massapequa
yah - we have long island meets frequently. You should come hangout
@@RTLife that would be cool where at?
Oh my god I thought it was a problem with the new engine build. Body work can be easily fixed. That was a scary thumbnail. 😬😬😬😬😬
Yah body work is def an easy fix. The engine is hopefully get a tune loaded up ASAP
Are you guys lowered?
nope - stock suspension
Does the oem widebody fit a 2016 R/T?
It should fit no problem as long as you get all the right parts
@@RTLife ok you should check out eBay. Unpainted oem widebody parts for low.
I dont want to say i was right, but i was right lol. You are forgeting the inner structure in different also on the widebodys. The difference is the little lip on the innerstructure is removed and the front has a massive lip removed on the driver side if I am not mistaken. If tire spinning is an issue taller tires help hook up along with added width. Forget lowering the car with the fender flare kit. Panel bond is also a terrible choice when the surface is not bare metal to plastic. Either way still love your car and its progress.
I hear ya. The front is really the only issue & I think the 315/35/20 is going to do the trick which I'm happy about. Can't beat OEM though - done properly so you don't have to think about any of this stuff.
So will 305 30/20 won’t rub in the front?
it shouldn't
Thanks bro appreciate it
@@93harlem I have 315/35/20 & almost all roads I’m good. Just have to be careful with big dips & potholes. 305/30/20 should give you much more clearance
This is too much trouble. Thank you for the informative video. Compromising the wheel size and tire wall size isn't ideal for me. I don't want a widebody car with some tiny tiny wheels..
Happened to my Challenger 🤦🏽♂️
Damn.... sorry your car got hurt bud.
it happens - was back to normal the next day. Hoping the new 315/35/20 do better
Damn thats unfortunate my guy. It does happen when you least expect it. After driving home for 6 hours, on my last turn heading home, a hog hit my front end destroying my front end. Good thing these cars are boats and can take a hit.

I hit a racoon and it messed up the lower grill and dented the ac condenser. I dont wana make a claim but parts and install might need to do it

My Thing is when you spend $2k+ for the kit, another $1.5 for the paint matching, why not cut the fenders? I don't know anyone that's done the conversion wanting to go back to slim body.
I ended up installing adjustable coilover suspension, that took care of the issue. I didn't want to cut because of rust potential down the road
@@RTLifeso with coilover u can set the exact ride hieght so u dont need to cut the fender?
Dang! That sucks bro!!! Would you consider air suspension? You can raise the car when your driving & slam it when it's parked! 🤷🏽♂️
