- Tangmere Late Again:
A Few Hours at Carlisle.
Class 37 start up,
Stone Blower,
Flasks
10 February 2024
A few hours spent at Carlisle when Tangmere brought in the second Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express of 2024.
Tangmere arrived late after a 50 minute stop at Carnforth. Apparently low water pressure - from the feed injector? - caused some problems. Whilst Tangmere was at Carlisle, West Coast put out a Very Short Term Planning time for a Class 47 to head to the border city to replace the ailing Steam loco. However it was instead diverted to Hellifield. Tangmere took its train over the S&C but came off at Hellifield.
Other trains seen include a single flask from Sellafield to Kingmoor depot, a Stoneblower headed for Scotland and the daily Tesco train.
In the Holding Sidings Thunderbird 57307 Lady Penelope was shunted to its normal place on the back wall and a West Coast 37 was started up with the help of a passing fitter.

Greetings. What a wonderful video. Thank you. Maurice from France 🇫🇷
I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
Quality photography with some interesting, unusual viewpoints.
Thanks Tim. Being surprised by the WCME returning from upperby led to a quick decision to lean over that dratted fence- led to some angles needing editing out!
Another great day at the station Les. I love the livery on West Coast 57315. The clag and throb of the 37 starting up was great too.
Thanks David. That "Pullman" livery is smart and apparently freshly painted!
Very cool video awesome seeing different types of locomotives and power excellent share Leslie 😎🚂
Thanks!
class 37 will always be my fav, and start up's, just love it
Thanks Dave, it's becoming a habit to film the 37s starting
Thank you for your video. The quality of tracks inside this station would lead in Germany to a complete shutdown. Greetings from Germany !
I agree that the track is atrocious hence a 20mph limit through the station. Apparently it should have been changed many years ago but apart from the main through lines plain track nothing gets done
Keep warm when out and about great footage as usual top man 👍
Thanks 👍
A lot better day than where I am, I am glad I came up there to see her and thanks for the Mech site info I see they are going to Glasgow so hope to see them there. Good to see you got the 37 start in full this time 3rd time lucky :)

Thanks so much! 😊
Cheers Les...good one...
Thank you!
The Pullman livery makes a big difference to WC's maroon doesn't it. I wonder what it would look like on a 37. (Or indeed if they adopted the two-tone green as on 47815 and 57009 as standard)
I;m surprised noone has done Green but large logo and scotrail seem to be the favoured liveries
Nice video 👋🥰🤗👍
Thank you 🤗
It looks like the driver of the stoneblower forgot to put FRED in the rear cab.
I hadnt noticed!
Great footage Les, Tangmere may be a bit tardy on the arrival times but is a wonderful loco!
Tangmere is growing on me..
Hopefully it isn't late on the 24th when I'm seeing it!
Who knows with West Coast
Bom dia lelier movimentação de trem de carga
Thanks!
is there any freight trains today im gonna go spotting at carlisle at 11:00am
Between 1230 and 1310
4S43 sure is a lot of fast food, once it’s through Carlisle.
Certainly is - dunno if DRS get clubcard points
Wonder if the punters could get there money back having a diesel haul them back. Good one Leslie.
They might for the section where Great Western hauled the train from Hellifield back to Manchester
Poor old Tangmere lugging that flippin 56 around evrywhere...cant be good for it.
The 57 is usually running to propel itself though exceptionally they are dead.
Aye Tangmere not right on song. She needs British coal me thinks.
Water issues from all accounts - injectors?
