I had to lighten up a coupe of the darkest shots but still shows the correct light levels rather than some camera which autimatically adjust to look like daylight! Thanks!
It was good seeing the Chiltern 68, as I see, but mainly hear them when they hammer through less than half a mile from where we live in Buckinghamshire. That particular loco must have some kind of malfunction to be pushing out that much exhaust! It certainly all go at Carlisle Leslie.
Wow Les that was a marathon day for your , but wat a fantastic video it turned out to be excellent my friend nice to see grids still on the logs have they gived the 70s the big elbow ? and nice to see the 60 or AKA "CATS" (NICKNAME ) i think they are great work horses top speed 100 m p h cant go wrong they may not be every body's cup of tea do to being a bit noisy but if you dont like noisy trains you dont buy a house at side of the railway end of , its also nice to see varimis rail still doing well he now has 4 sets of 321s 321334/ 407/ 419 / 438 good luck to him & well done . as for you les you must be knackered doind that long shift many thanks for taking us along really enjoyed it top man again do take care mate stay safe a t b syd 😀👍👌.
Thanks. I was so tired I slept in the next morning putting paid to a £2 trip to Edinburgh! I've seen 3 of the Varamis 321s now. I think they are growing their fleet ready for new services
Thanks Phil. I meant to be out only until the logs had gone but then vst trains began appearing on RTT and my plan to stay was revised until 7 and later 9pm!!!!!
Once again Les , thanks for sharing . I have a Question , why are the "Postals" still running about with ER on the side , surely should have been changed by now . Cheers .
That's a good question. I think mail vans all still have "ER" don't they. In fact I saw a brand new electric mail van today that I'm sure still had "ER". Maybe there's some lengthy process that has to be gone through to change the cipher. Perhaps they're not rushing because they're waiting to see how long we'll have the current King 😒
Really enjoy your videos Les. Very atmospheric nighttime videos. A couple of questions. What is the Varamis trains service and how do the drivers of the locos pulling the snowploughs see past them
Varamis are running a light parcels service. Currently between Mossend and Birmingham International but from March to the Princess Royal distribution centre at Willesden I believe. There are cut outs on the ploughs in line with the driving position in older locos but you still see drivers leaning out of the window.
Nice video again Les thank you. Do you know if the same 2 class 56s worked the logs on the 6 February? I happened to be on Crewe station overnight 6/7 Feb and saw the empty working heading back north in the early hours but wasn't alert enough to catch what they were due the speed they were going.
So much variety here. Thanks for sharing, Leslie.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Great share Leslie lots of great catches Thanks for sharing with us 🚂
Glad you enjoyed it Mike
Great video Les, especially the evening / night shots, amazing how much better camera and lenses are at low light levels!
I had to lighten up a coupe of the darkest shots but still shows the correct light levels rather than some camera which autimatically adjust to look like daylight! Thanks!
Wonderful variety Les, a marathon session, hope you didn't get too cold!

I think that the 68 was being opened up for the first time after maintenance, seemed to be on tickover through the station.
I've always thought that customer lift on platform 4 looks rather incongruous with the rest of the building, which has an elegance about it.
It is a re-covering of the old parcels lift which was a wooden structure and really looked incongruous too

top speed 100 m p h cant go wrong they may not be every body's cup of tea do to being a bit noisy but if you dont like noisy trains you dont buy a house at side of the railway

I honestly don't know I'm afraid. The pair were probably together from the weekend
@@LeslieGilpinRailways thanks Les.
I was at Carlisle on the 6th and it was the sane pair of 56s hauling the logs
@@matthewcampbell7754 thanks for the confirmation very much appreciated. 😁
Are the 56s now a permanent fixture on the logs?
No, every now and then a 70 appears!
@6:29. I want to see a Pendo in a snake scale livery.
That'd be different
Does the cement travel via the S&C
Mostly yes, although intermittently via Preston.

These videos are stop on Les tell you where the they come from and were they are going. 4:03
Thanks!
Beacon Rail don't seem to know the difference between a train and a loco!
Indeed or what is ecological!
