Couple of 90s too
on a most frustrating day.
21 Aug 24
For one reason or another I failed miserably in catching any of the trains bringing Snow Ploughs to the newly acquired sidings of Messrs Rail Sidings Limited of Eastriggs (formerly an MOD ordnance depot). However I did get some shots of the Class 37 and Class 56 used on these trains on the move - well once and once in a loop.
So there's my frustration.
On the good side I saw the Cement train to Clitheroe and other regular freights plus a pair of 90s up from Crewe for Freightliner's driver training and another Harry Needle 37 on a test train on layover!.
The times shown on clips are for guidance only and shouldn't be taken as definitive.
Any observations are my own and not intended to show any authority and may show my misunderstanding.

Cracking bit of filming Leslie. I understand a rail tour was going into Eastriggs today. 😊
Thanks Euan. Eastriggs and Longtown is on 14th Sept.
A nice mix despite the missed opportunity! Nicely balanced in type and locations!
Thanks. Hopefull I'll be back on the ball for odd workings this week!
Another great video Les excellent footage, great camera work and some superb zooming well done matey , Thanks for sharing stay safe a t b Syd👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Sheffield Wednesday (on 66726) was originally the name of a Gresley B17 4-6-0. Lots of them had names for football teams that were in the old first division at the time. I believe the original nameplates were presented to the eponymous football team when each loco was scrapped, the the nameaplates in current use are almost certainly replicas. I guess the originals will be expensive collector's items now.
I often see pairs of Freightliner electric locos parked up at Ipswich when I pass through on the old GE Mainline. I must remember to make a note of their numbers and check them against your video record.
Wonderful video Leslie
Thanks!
Very nice I've been chasing the 405 and 090 at Dumfries and eastriggs all week!
Excellent . I should have been lol!
Great video Leslie, nice to see a few 37s
Thanks!
Great video les yeah they were up collecting the snowploughs from Inverness on Monday as I managed to see them at larbert for the overnight stay
I'd seen videos of the Ploughs on the Highland main line but brain didnt follow through for their times at Eastriggs! I count myself lucky to have seen the locos at least.
Ah no worries @LeslieGilpinRailways yeah at least u got to see the locomotives also did you manage to the the Grampian highlander yesterday passing Carlisle
Thanks again for another great video. Why would they move snowploughs south from Scotland at this time of year. Surely there must be somewhere in Scotland to store them? John
Colas needed cheap space to accommodate them, now they're taking on plough duties around Carlisle and into Scotland. Some maintenance is likely to happen too
I think I watched a video that said the Tango-livered 37 at Quintinshill had failed....?
I feel for you, Les. I'm watching your latest videos from Santorini where it's been a minimum of 28° since I arrived.
The apparent failure is on the following day (and I only found out on that video!)
@@LeslieGilpinRailways I blame the psychedelic paint job. I thought you were all-seeing, all-knowing, Les 😉
There can't be many who don't know who Lady Penelope is, but who is/was Jamie Ferguson? It's a name that trips off the tongue nicely but fails to register in the little grey cells (H. Poirot).
Mr Ferguson was a popular railwayman in the Carlisle area.
Bom dia lelie excelente video hj amei 3:57
Thanks
The row of blue weed killer trains that arrived recently can be seen on phone (OpenStreetMap). So unless this is a usual parking spot the satellite map would be very recent?
I think they're RHTT units, but I could be wrong.
The Rail Head Treatment Train stock arrives in the first week of August at least in the past few years. Likely its from last year.
I have to go there 14:57
Go on the 14th Sept. Railtour going there
Where is 14:57
West end of Eastriggs village
Carlisle is before and after York
Indeed. Thanks for watching
