- Leaking underfloor heating at the barn renovation, prime example of not checking everything is tight before flushing/filling a system causing a leak
Also more 1st fixing of a cloakroom as the renovation really starts moving along.

Haha , I saw 'never fill up on friday'. Never do anything when it comes to water on friday. That's my golden rule.
Good rule that
Another great video mate, best plumbing content on RUclips. On some manifolds the red locking cap on the flow regulators acts as a 'handle' to easier turn the regulators when they get stiff. Works on the first click up from being locked, saves taking them off as they always go missing.
Thanks Chris…. Glad you liked it and the channel. Nice tip with the locking caps👍🏼
Always happy to leave a like and a comment 😊 always fill up your whisky glass on a Friday and relax. Barn is coming along nicely, and your classic stuck trv is a nice easy fix.
Thanks mate…… Yer it’s really coming on now, bathrooms next😉
Hi Mark, thanks for the great video. Very educational and helpful as always. Can you tell me which showers can be used with this Grohe shower valve? Thank you!
Nice contents and quite compact content in this video. Last week I have the same leaks where the pump is as well. Lucky it was my boss doing the manifold while I’m laying down the UFH.. Great job and catch your next video on Thursday if I’m a bit free…
Thanks mate….. 👍🏼
Love your channel, was in the construction trade myself doing cladding. My son is currently doing a apprenticeship and he's doing 1st and 2nd fix bathroom fitting for premier inn..... Gave him a link to the channel and you've now got 2 new subs 👍
Nice one mate, thanks for that👍🏼👍🏼
I was waiting for something terrible to happen when filling up was not expecting it to just be the pump loose 🤣 you kept me on edge right to the end.
I was sure I had tightened it up…… but it certainly leaked🙈
Another great film, the barn is coming on a treat now.
I’m glad the underfloor heating appears to be all ok.
The thermal camera is a great tool, a bit too expensive for me,
but I do love it. Have a great week, take care, regards, Chris. 👍👍👍
Thanks Chris….. it’s a lot better then them other barns isn’t it. This is really moving on. I’m now fitting the suites so that coming soon😉😉
@@MJTiffPlumbing Excellent, it will be beautiful when it’s all done.
A great project to be part of. 👍👍👍
@@chrisholt2474 thanks mate, one for the portfolio 😉
Hi another cracking vid very interesting the barns fairly taking shape.👍👍👍
Thanks as always mate
Nervous days , filling up, satisfying when all goes well, keep those vids coming Mark. 🚽👍
Thanks Peter….. yer it’s a relief all right
brilliant nothing major but kept us on our toes how you getting on with the new bag mark great content and every vid keeps getting better on to the next one 👌🤟
Thanks Mike….. keeping you entertained on a Sunday 😉😉
The bag is brilliant mate, may even go for the power tool bag next 🤔
Grate explanation of the ufh set up mate 👌
Thanks mate
New sub, i’ve got a mini compressor and blow everything up with air prior to water getting any where near, any leaks hiss and are easy to find.
Welcome aboard mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Great videos, I look forward to them. Well done 👍
Thanks Ian…. Glad you like them 👍🏼👍🏼
I’m a bit disappointed I was hoping for a sprinkler system in one of the rooms 🤣 good job they marked the pipes up great vid as always 👍
Hahaha shower in every room….. sorry to disappoint 🤣🙈
Another great video mate 👍👍 great content!
Thanks mate 👍🏼👍🏼🙌🏼
Hey Mark, is the 90-90 offset on the flow from the pump into the manifold a 3rd party accessory to level out the mixing unit? Also a tip for you, the isolation valves go in-between the mixing unit and manifold, so when filling the flow is forced down one loop, you have the potential of air locks if not. As the water can take the path of least resistance and travel though the pump to the return.
Thanks for watching….👍🏼
Will take a look at the valves, but never had an issue tbh
Another great video Mark
Keep em coming
Thanks mate 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Can’t wait to see the barn completely finished
Yer it’s going to look stunning
Hi Mark. Barn is looking good on the plumbing side. Nice tip with the TRV. Do the lube up the pin after you release it with something like GT-85 which has PTFE or just leave as is.
Spray a bit of GT85 on it and all will be good
When you like videos before the intro finishers as you know there gonna be great 😁 can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.
Hahaha thanks Mark, appreciate that buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
That’s a quick replay only 13 mins in 😬 my pleasure mate keep blasting away, I’m early in my career and just passed my gas and you have already shown me a few tricks of the trade and really enjoy your videos, think I speak for a lot of people when I say we appreciate your videos.
@@markfairhurst7078 Thankyou mate, I’m just trying to show you guys what it’s like day to day “real world plumbing”
👍🏼👍🏼
Well thats a nice job out of the way at the barn all the under floor leak tested 👍👍😅😓
Yep….. a bit of pressure off the shoulders 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice content as per mate, I was waiting for a shower to appear where you hadn’t installed one! I believe you may be guilty of click bait kind sir!😂👍🏻
Hahaha…. A few people were waiting for that….🤣
Can’t be clickbait as I had a leak…. Clickbait would of been some comedian putting a vegetable “leak” on the manifold🤣🤣🤣
Nice video mate 👍
Thanks Gary 👍🏼
Super funny video, can't get over how many times he stresses not to fill up on a Friday, people have to be told 3 times before it actually sinks in, its been proven.
🤣🤣…… don’t fill up on a Friday😉
Coming on nicely Mark hope there are no screws in the pipework
Coming along very well isn’t it👌🏼
That was the whole point of this mate, testing it to make sure it’s all ok and flushing it through….👍🏼👍🏼
Great job bud.
Where did you get your thermal camera?
Cheers
Thanks mate…..

👍🏼👍🏼
nice one fella, just recently found your channel.. great content!!! from one ex-pat plumber/engineer to another ;)
Thanks buddy… welcome to the channel, hope you enjoy my real world plumbing content
Great video ...
Just for reference how would you have managed to find a leak under screed and fixed it ?:)
Thanks mate……. Thermal imaging camera helps out there👍🏼👍🏼
It’s looking good at the barn so far mate. As long as you don’t get a call back to the underfloor 🙈
Won’t be a problem with that I don’t think mate, looking forward to getting some heat into it.
Bathrooms are now going in…. It’s moving very fast
Mark, can I ask do you put a monthly invoice in on this barn conversation? I really admire your ability to explain plumbing in a very calm and professional manner. Many thanks for all of your knowledge. Bob from Northamptonshire.
Hey Bob…
Fortunately for me the builder is also a good friend of 30years so when a bill goes in it’s sorted straight away…. Perks of working with a great builder👌🏼
Glad you like the content and I appreciate the comment buddy
Hey mark nice video. Tip put the end of your drain hose in a bucket when filling underfloor you can watch the bubbles come out. Any chance you have tried you thermal imaging camera on running underfloor?
Thanks Joe….. Not used it on this one yet as the planet room isn’t done yet, but have tried it on other UFH
@@MJTiffPlumbing and it showed the runs nice? Got an underfloor job that’s got a leak somewhere no signs of the leak on the surface thinking of investing in a cam to try and locate it. Thanks.
@@l4n3y yer worked a treat mate
I use moisture boards in bathrooms....just use mapei tanking paint in shower area....
👍🏼👍🏼 not an issue
It's always a relief when u fill a system up u have installed and its all good especially underfloor great video 👍 #realworldplumbing
Thanks Tom….. yep huge relief that only plumbers understand👍🏼👍🏼
Nice work mate, the T where you connect the pipe coming from the toilet is that 125mm?
We use always 110mm, and sometimes just 90mm.
I hate those Grohe concealed cisterns, i prefer Geberit, they are very great.
110mm mate…. The pipe from the concealed frame is smaller…
@@MJTiffPlumbing that must be 90mm, but dimensions are hard to see on video though
superb m8 just a bit upset we didnt get the leak as promised 🤣🤣
There was a leak from the pump valve….. a leaks a leak. 😉
What brand is your thermal camera??
Take a look here mate…..
I’ve got a 15% discount code in the description for subscribers to the channel😉👍🏼👍🏼
ruclips.net/video/VzzmitQW504/видео.html
But you did! And it came to bite you. Great video. Thanks
Didn’t bite me that hard though….😉
Got a leak poss under floor boiler loosin pressure few plumbers came and show no interest hav lifted from few placesbut no joy any sugeestions
If you can get hold of a thermal imaging camera that could show you where it is
Interesting vid. So that’s fill and vent - do you then do a water pressure test later (not on a Friday 🤣)?
Once the plant room goes in it will be pressurised and commissioned….. on a Monday 😉
Do you ever use liquid ptfe on shower units like that grohe?
No mate, I just prefer to physically wrap the fittings…
@@MJTiffPlumbing thanks for replying. Do you think it would be OK to use it? Also thank you for putting these videos out. Some belting tips on them.
When you done the intro slow mo i thought fuck me it's mr tiff on a spliff 🤣🤣🤣🤣 HEAVY MAN 👾👾👾👾 Only fill up with 🍺🍺🍺🍷🍷 on Friday
🤣🤣🤣
Plasterboard is fine, tiling is waterproof if installed correctly and i emphasize correctly!
Yep, I’ve never had an issue as my tiler is spot on. If don’t right it’s fine
How much was your thermal imaging gun please?
Thanks
Take a look here mate…..
There’s a 15% discount code aswell in the description😉👍🏼👍🏼

Top man 👍
@@leestaps 👍🏼👍🏼 no worries mate
Hi, why wasn’t underfloor pipework full before screed was done?
Was done within a day of it going down and Christmas was in the way. All is perfect though 👍🏼👍🏼
All underfloor systems I do need them pressurised to prevent cracking of screed and damage to pipework. Never done that one. Good videos 👍🏼
@@jamesjulian yer I understand that mate, this job is for the builders own home, he had booked the screed to go in the day after we finished the UFH so I didn’t get time to do it… he was aware of this and went ahead…. Sometimes you just have to do what you can.
I’ve done a fair few systems then haven’t been pressurised before screeding and never ever had an issue.
Thanks for watching mate👍🏼👍🏼
Got it. Never fill up on a Friday!
🤣😉😉
Your safety glasses are really good you can't see there on 😎
At what point do you think I would need them on??
Pin stuck down on rad as tenants will turn them permanently off to save gas.
The old sticky pin👍🏼
Why haven’t you pressured underfloor with air ? Piece of mind for you and chippie
No point with air, as you wouldn’t of been able to see where if he HAD of hit a pipe, but he hadn’t and all was fine when filled with water as shown in this video👍🏼👍🏼
Fill up after 3 late home for tea
Classic line that…… an old boy who I used to work with would always say that👏🏼👏🏼
We have the same rule lol, and Im from Holland. Funny how some things are the same world wide
Wise saying…. (Even if I didn’t stick to it)
Great video as always mate, Ive done a few UFH jobs now and always learning more about them. I find that filling and pressurising the loops before any screed or covering goes down works best, that way if there is a damaged bit of pipe it can be sorted beforehand. Also if another trade goes through one you will know straight away and know exactly where the problem is.
Thanks mate…..👍🏼👍🏼
Yep I know what you mean but as shown in a previous video the builder was literally chomping at my heels boarding upstairs and screeding downstairs….. it was on his shoulders🙈
I am confused ::: shouldn’t you have done this and pressurised it all before the screed went down .?
Don't think it goes through the mixing valve on the floor heating, there should be a non return valve built into it, so the flow from the boiler can't go into return from the floor heating
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Another great video mate. From the thumbnail I was expecting a flood of some sorts 😂
I’m glad there wasn’t though mate.
Cracking job 👏🏼👏🏼
Hahahaa just keeping you on your toes mate😉
Plasterboard in a shower/even if it is moisture resistant.... Not on my watch. XPS cement faced board or concrete boards i want water proof. I've taken out showers where they used plasterboard and it is wet with black mould behind.
👍🏼👍🏼
If I had a thermal image camera I'd be scanning everything for weeks
Hahaha…… you’ve got to be confident 😉😉
FILED UP FRIDAY 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
🤣🤣
I would have (did) make the false wall deeper. Eg deep enough to easily hide the 110mm and the metal frame for the WC etc. Looks like you are struggling with it so shallow.
It’s all measured out perfectly and hides everything as it’s supposed to, fully boarded now and plastered… 👍🏼👍🏼
George the plumber USA 🇺🇸 Every time this is why u test
Test test test
Not what you need on a Friday like 🙉
Deffo not mate…
🤣🤣 Never fill up on Friday
The unwritten rule 🤣
Pint in hand by 4 latest on a Friday mate. Cmon. Builders rules
Hahahaa🤣😉😉 that’s rule 2
Rule number one, you don’t talk about fight club
Hahaha……🤣👏🏼
Call that a leak 😂 I’ll take that any day off the week
Yep…. I agree mate. Still got wet🙈
I never use moisture board in shower area, always use cement boards or tile boards, good install though 👍👍
Thanks for watching mate
As said numerous times, this is the builders own home and he is happy with moisture boards going on, if tiled and sealed correctly there is no issue at all👍🏼👍🏼
To free rad valve, spray with silicon spray and tap pin a few times with a hammer - it soon pops out.
Or just pull the pin gently with a pair of grips….whatever works👍🏼👍🏼
when will the British learn PLUMBING.
