- The NRA has been influential in shaping gun policy in America for generations, but another lesser-known gun group is hoping to also shape the narrative around gun ownership. The National African American Gun Association (NAAGA) is the largest minority gun group in the country.

I was simply happy that the black community has there own grass roots pro-gun organization that helps people in the black community be part of the greater gun Community.
Personally I don't care what someone's skin color is, my father told me since I was a child "treat others as you would like to be treated" he told me if you can't be humble and love all people you don't deserve respect or love from anyone.
Also I personally don't care much for the NRA they are kind of a old people's club. It's a dying organization that has only talked a lot and done not very much for gun owners. There are many other organizations that don't care about race they just want to do what they can to support and help gun owners whether they are black or white.

Now the U.S. has arguably the most powerful army in the world militias are obsolete; consequently, the NRA is obsolete.

Bringing your guns to the seat of government has been taboo for a long time, even if it's legal. I'm pro-gun for people of every race, but I hate it when people do dumb stuff with guns, like go to a capital building, or open carry an AR-15 in a Wal Mart. I don't necessarily want these things to be illegal; there are times of public emergency when firearms should be openly carried, but I wish pro-gun people would respect social norms about openly carrying firearms, because when they don't, it gives all of us a bad name.
@@JZ909 It is admittedly disruptive but at the same time you need to let the govt know you mean business and won't take any acts of aggression kindly. It's ridiculous that officers can tear gas and beat activists, guns prevent that very well. Just look at those protestors(if you can call them that) that stormed the Capitol last year. Law enforcement knew they were strapped, they weren't about to try and face off.
I love seeing groups that cross party boundaries. I mean, the fact that they sell guns and BLM T-shirts’ at the same store is so cool. It’s so important that we start countering polarization or we’re going to be screwed.
I love that this movement isn't right-wing, or left-wing, It's black Americans who want to be the change they voice and doing the right thing by training and learning firearm discipline and skill. These guys are awesome, and I say that as a White American. I have nothing but respect for these guys, and I hope their message spreads.

Restricting guns or calibres does very little to the problem. This attack was made with already illegal weapons so it is a prime example as to why restricting firearms doesn't solve the problem.

Black is not a race, nationality, or culture here is why their is no homeland or language called black. Their is 50+ countries in Africa. Now what is the definition of black- absence of or complete absorption of light; the opposite of white. So by that definition you can not have black without white. Caucasians are pink skinned. Indigenous or aborigines, people with a melanated phenotype are brown or copper brown. Asian are pale skin but you have Chinese, Japanese, Koreans etc. you are not going to call all Asian people yellow for their race.

Great to hear about NAAGA, and as an NRA member I was and still am very frustrated when they don’t come out more in moments like what happened to Philando Castile. But three misconceptions were repeated here that help the anti gun agenda.
1. The NRA basically never says anything about police killings of white guys either. Although Philando was the perfect example of many cops thinking all black guys with guns are bad. NRA should have been all over this. Pushing the idea that more black guys with guns means more good people with guns rather than the stereotype.
2. The NRA had a revolution internally at its convention a year or two after the old board members supported the anti black panther gun control. Because of this legislative support amongst other issues related to a more aggressive approach to political action being needed as the majority of members thought it was bullshit and literally organized a coup d’état.
3. And in fact if you study the NRA and it’s (good) radicalization. It was wanting to become an Olympic organization (hence why it supported a lot of gun control) and barely had a few lowly guys working on politics when Huey and Bobby started pushing the limits of the 2nd amendments utility in practical applications. If you read the language and wording the NRA used before and after the BPP’s media attention it was almost a mirror image of those first interviews with Bobby and Huey regarding what now is laced into the arguments that have reached all the way to the Supreme Court and been upheld.
I think we should support NAAGA, GOA, NRA, PP, FPC AND most importantly not let anyone divide us. We have a huge fight legislatively right ahead of us.
The NRA waited until all the facts were in and the investigation was over before commenting on Philando. That is exactly how it should be. Don't trust the first reports or the hysterical rumors.

During the Civil War mostly former slaves courageously enlisted in the 54th Massachusetts to make the first US Army all black combat ready troop. They knew the way of the rifle was the only way! I got the concealed carry permit, joining NAAGA soon enough. I’m not playing with the folks anymore. If it comes down to it, I’d rather stand and defend for myself and my family rather than die trying to comply against unreasonable men.

if by unreasonable men you mean police officers, in the end, you will %100 lose that battle my friend. I personally believe that there should be a window of reason in terms of defending yourself against police with lethal force in certain situations under certain circumstances but it's not recognized in the judicial system or in police force. if you shoot one of theirs they will shoot on site.

I know that Mississipi and Idaho have constitutional carry. No license required.

The NRA was created after the US Civil War to create gun regulations (licenses and exams) that would ensure blacks couldn't get guns and whites could. There were no "gun laws" in the USA prior to the NRA besides "it's illegal for civilians to own military weapons" and "it's illegal to harm someone with a gun unless in self-defense".

But, someone she associated with was in fact a well know drug dealer but did not live with her. The no knock warrant will get someone just protecting their home killed or a cop killed and they need to stop doing those types of warrant with out properly investigating. As an NRA member and advocate, I was very upset that there was not greater support for Philando Castillo, and I know a lot of people feel the same way. The response I got in the e-mails I sent was that (paraphrasing) it would have to be a blatant, almost corrupt level act, not just a coward making a mistake because he's afraid of his own shadow, before they could afford to go against the police, which is a huge part of the base. I donate to the NRA-ILA (political arm of the NRA), so I feel like I got a more legit response than the form letter response of 'It a disturbing situation' that we're "waiting for the investigation' BS that was there official line at the time. It was the watershed incident that really shined a light on police shootings. I felt almost as if the NRA wanted to openly side with Philando (and his grieving widow and child who were witnesses - almost unbelievable how excruciating that was for them), but just didn't feel like they could alienate the police which is a huge chunk of the membership.
In retrospect, the NRA was on the wrong side of history and should have taken a stand with the concealed carry holding population instead of the law enforcement side (MANY of whom were equally disgusted with that officers actions), but to make this out to be black vs. white is patently false. I've had black instructors and co-class takers and never thought anything of it. The pearl clutching gaggle of white people fearful of armed blacks is a fantasy that I've never encountered if 25 years of taking classes. I wonder if the media knows or cares how much harm they're doing to our country by dividing us along racial lines, manufacturing racism where it doesn't exist. There is racism to be sure in this world and the U.S., but it's few and far between compared to the prevalence we would be lead to believe by the media. At the end of the day, the Philando Castillo came down to politics of not wanting to alienate the police. I don't think if Philando was white it would have changed the response by the NRA, and I have yet to see a situation where NRA took on law enforcement over a concealed carry holder irrespective of the race of the victim, even though those incidents do absolutely occur.
