I am African American and we have faced this all of our lives her in the US. Not all white people are racist. I lived in Israel for about 1 1/2 year. They do treat the Ethiopian different. I felt that they treated me differently because I am American. I think some of the mistreatment has to do with social class. I will always support my African people and I will never supported their favoritism.

From what I’ve heard, the Ethiopian practice of Judaism is the oldest recorded form of Judaism and most likely the closest to how it was practiced in biblical times. Israelis should look to their Ethiopian citizens as a link to their heritage that would otherwise be lost without them.

Well they have a lot in common with the others in their community. Shared traditions, history, struggles, and religion. It makes you feel like family. You just don't have that historic connection or ties between the ethnic groups here. Sometimes it's historical rivalries between the groups here so in all honesty it is hard to feel like a community and family.
I don't think it's all "individualistic" in the US. We have many insular communities that are close to each other and shun "outsiders," which I personally find very "cult-like." I grew up with a close neighborhood of about 6 families in America. We all still stay in touch with each other even though we are spread across the country. I would like it if I knew my neighbors better now, but where I grew up and where I live now are two very different places in some aspects.

My parents are from Israel and my mom always says the laws in general are terrible and never really fit the crime. I want to add that i spoke to my mom and while she says that in a lot of cases I forget about this story and she reminded me that what the officer did was self defense for him and his family because the group of Ethiopians were trying to rob them and wouldn’t leave them alone, as well as he told them multiple times he was an officer but they didn’t stop. and he shot the ground to try and get them to leave him and his family alone but it bounced and hit him. So vice wasn’t telling the full story as to what led to him getting shot. But like some people are saying in the replies the laws are not strict like in America.
Bullet came back from ballistics testing, and the cop told the truth. He shot at the ground and the bullet bounced at the kid. 2nd or 3rd degree homicide, not cold-blooded murder.

The justice system in Israel is different from America, judges decide whether the defendant is guilty or innocent not a jury, and the punishments are often not as strict as in America. The work was done when they were desperate in the 70s. There was a drought and they got airlifted just to increase the Jewish population and overwhelm the Palestinians. But now they are separated among families and don't really have land in Ethiopia either so they can't just go back......but I hope in the future they will be able to slowly settle back into cities. I walk every morning to the bus station here in israel to get to school. And every morning theres an ethiopian janitor that cleans the streets.(im white btw). Every morning i give him my food for school so he wont stay hungry. At noon when i come back he sometimes comes back and i talk to him about his life and mine. I make him lunch and we're good friends. Its sad to see this type of stuff but if you encounter something like that in your country, please help, do what you can👊🏿

About the Solomon Taka case - the police officer only got 3 years because ballistics showed that it was a warning shot ricochet that killed Taka (meaning he didn't aim to kill). BUT if we are all honest, and im Israeli, if they were not Ethiopians he wouldn't have fired the warning shot. So the rage is well in place. Good piece, but it was lacking a lot of the VERY positive things that happened in the past 40 years, But we still have a lot to do.

I am African American and we have faced this all of our lives her in the US. Not all white people are racist. I lived in Israel for about 1 1/2 year. They do treat the Ethiopian different. I felt that they treated me differently because I am American. I think some of the mistreatment has to do with social class. I will always support my African people and I will never supported their favoritism.

I envy how close communities like Ethipians are with their families, unlike the individualistic culture we have here in America
Well they have a lot in common with the others in their community. Shared traditions, history, struggles, and religion. It makes you feel like family. You just don't have that historic connection or ties between the ethnic groups here. Sometimes it's historical rivalries between the groups here so in all honesty it is hard to feel like a community and family.
I don't think it's all "individualistic" in the US. We have many insular communities that are close to each other and shun "outsiders," which I personally find very "cult-like." I grew up with a close neighborhood of about 6 families in America. We all still stay in touch with each other even though we are spread across the country. I would like it if I knew my neighbors better now, but where I grew up and where I live now are two very different places in some aspects.

My parents are from Israel and my mom always says the laws in general are terrible and never really fit the crime.
I want to add that i spoke to my mom and while she says that in a lot of cases I forget about this story and she reminded me that what the officer did was self defense for him and his family because the group of Ethiopians were trying to rob them and wouldn’t leave them alone, as well as he told them multiple times he was an officer but they didn’t stop. and he shot the ground to try and get them to leave him and his family alone but it bounced and hit him. So vice wasn’t telling the full story as to what led to him getting shot. But like some people are saying in the replies the laws are not strict like in America.
Bullet came back from ballistics testing, and the cop told the truth. He shot at the ground and the bullet bounced at the kid. 2nd or 3rd degree homicide, not cold-blooded murder.

Every morning i give him my food for school so he wont stay hungry. At noon when i come back he sometimes comes back and i talk to him about his life and mine. I make him lunch and we're good friends. Its sad to see this type of stuff but if you encounter something like that in your country, please help, do what you can👊🏿

About the Solomon Taka case - the police officer only got 3 years because ballistics showed that it was a warning shot ricochet that killed Taka (meaning he didn't aim to kill). BUT if we are all honest, and im Israeli, if they were not Ethiopians he wouldn't have fired the warning shot. So the rage is well in place. Good piece, but it was lacking a lot of the VERY positive things that happened in the past 40 years, But we still have a lot to do.
@Adam Baum I just want to understand why do they take them to Israel to discriminate them? Before they leave Ethiopia their DNA is tested and proved to be Israeli. So it is their land. Why are they treated differently?
I very much doubt a ricochet will kill. Did you see it? is the evidence publicly available?
@@wonduxx5355 What are you talking about? Many people were killed by ricochet bullets. They even checked it on MythBusters and saw that the bullet lost less than 1/4 of its energy after hitting the ground.
