- A playable demo of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is free on PSN. After playing it, and reliving the iconic FFVII chapter, I figure it's worth a video. Here are my thoughts.

speaking of god tier, we gotta talk about the updated music in this game. It just hits at a whole new level. added so much tension to Sephiroth's transformation
The whole soundtrack slaps as the kids say
That moment in the demo after you left the town and started trekking was the goddest of god tier, the way the credits started coming up with the remix of the Highwind theme, mwah. Have been thinking of it for the last two days.
The transition of the theme from when you’re outside the town then walking into the Shinra mansion was HAUNTING. I can’t wait to sit in Cosmo canyon though
The devs said the game is going to have around 400 different music tracks. That is fucking INSANE.
Music was the main highlight of the demo for me. Unreal, nonstop

Sephiroths descent into madness was so good in the demo.
And the Shinra Manor gives me huge Resident Evil 1 vibes.
when he gave the smirk described in the book like his mother, that was the end.
His voice changing when Cloud returns the manor after the seventh day... Holy crap, I got goosebumps. This new cast is brilliant

Edit demo spoilers: Also something I love that Rebirth went into detail about was Clouds mother dying and his grief of her loss. In the OG they seemed to give no mention of her dying or Cloud even noticing.
I 100% agree. That really hit the feels for me. Nibel burning was alot more emotional than I thought it would be. They nailed it.

IIRC, she just kinda dies in the fire in the OG rather than Sephiroth killing her directly so I'm glad that's changed
@deleriumslayer4931 it really was. I played it and the whole time I was like.. unsettled and sad for clouds loss of his mom... and his town. It just hit. Even more than when I played though it as a kid.
If you want your mind blown, play the demo again and listen to the Shinra guy laying outside her door as you walk up to check on her.
The Niebelheim incident is one of gaming's greatest moments, and even in the broader scope of storytelling in general.
It acts as setup and motivation for the characters early in the game/story, becomes a "hook" for character developement(and deconstruction of character) and finally leads to acceptance and katharsis.
It is both a multi-layered story with various mysteries(due to how the event is presented to the player), as well as a very simple story with a straightforward plot once you have all the pieces by the end. This makes the event, with all its intricacies, hard to explain to others, but easy to follow once you understand the full story.
The way the events are woven into the story and the impact it has throughout the various interactions and events throughout the game is masterfully done, and I am looking forward to see it retold in this new style.
It is the "Core" of the Compilation after all.

Yup. Will make playing through the entire game(all parts) even more enjoyable once "you know" for new players. Even if I know the story, just seeing "all of it" and "knowing", it is very enjoyable, and just confirms how well done this story is told, and how the developers "get it".

Seriously play it I'm like 90% sure they remastered it because they are going to dip into it more.
The voice work really impressed me. I love how you can hear the rage build up in Sephiroth's voice when he is realizing that he was an experiment, even though he's still so soft spoken. How in the library you can hear he's no longer the noble SOLDIER that he was a week before. Or how Zack's personality comes through in Cloud's voice. And then the music, damn. The Nibelheim theme is the best version we ever had so far. Chills all the way.
Jeremy, I have never been more hyped for a game in my entire life. And I'm 41, so I've seen almost all of them.

Even more than the first one? I mean this one is 99% surely going to surpass it, but for me few things will ever match the hype I had when I entered Wall Market
@@LateStageCap Yeah, I think even more. I adore the first game, don't get me wrong. But it was an unknown. And it has its problems, minor as they might be.
But Rebirth, we know exactly what to expect, and now we know just what they can deliver. Even playing the demo its clear that its different. The cinematography, the voice acting, the graphics, the music, the combat, the world traversal, it is all impossibly beyond anything we have ever seen before. This game is on an entirely different level.
I know its silly to say that about a game that isn't out yet, but I also know that everyone else is feeling it too. I anticipate this game becoming one of the greatest of all time.
I'll never forget the excitement of getting the demo disk of Final Fantasy 8 back in the day. I would watch that intro cut scene over and over again. God I miss having that level of excitement for a new game.

You can play tifas theme on the piano and play it over and over til you learn how to do it I spent like an hour doing that 😅

@@theincrediblezit8792 Remake and Rebirth and the unnamed 3rd game are retellings of the same story. But Square has added some new stuff to them and seems to leave it open ended as to whether they'll change certain aspect of the story. We don't know yet. But for now, consider it just a retelling that is largely the same.
I'm happy they kept Sephiroth's personality from pre FF VII intact. The one thing I took from CC was that I really started to loke Sephiroth as a person he seemed like a decent guy
Really? I think they changed a lot about him. He used to be aloof about Cloud and just saw him as a puppet. He didn't chase Cloud around like an ex

@@jorgeporras9262 in this part of the game yes because this is og Sephiroth. But the first remake one, which is compilation Sephiroth just took me out of the story and I don't like these dementor like creatures as a plot device. This smells like Nomura scatterbrained direction like he did with kingdom hearts.
This dude had a good thing going with versus 13 then kept messing with it to the point it became 15 and he wanted to turn it into a musical for crying out loud
It seemed to be post Advent Children Seph in Remake and it also had more context for the flashback scenes and voices from OG FF7. I really enjoy the dedication and care they're taking with the story. @@Thiago_Alves_Souza

And Versus wasn’t his fault. Blame Yoichi Wada for constantly shifting the Versus team to help finish other projects
I absolutely appreciate that you gave this a shoutout. I still think Final Fantasy games are some of the best cinematic gaming experiences ever. I actually make edits into video game “movies” and FF7 is definitely going to be on there. Rebirth feels sooo good 🎉

Id probably play the og on steam first before the remakes.
You have to play Remake first. Rebirth isn’t a sequel, it’s a continuation of a story. It’s like watching The Two Towers and Return of the King before watching Fellowship of the Ring. Play FF7 Remake first, then play Rebirth.
Overall FFVII... greatest gaming experience in the history of video games. I never played the remake though.
Don’t play the original first haha trust me. Play the remake and rebirth and if you like the lore and characters then you should play the original if you’re invested.
There's a 5 minutes story recap video in Rebirth. You can enjoy it without playing part 1. Not much happened in part 1 in terms of plot development tbh, it was all just set up for part 2.
Man FF7 is my favorite piece of media... period. It's my star wars, my Harry Potter, whatever. Remake in its entirety looks like it was the demo for Rebirth and part 3. They did that classic final fantasy thing where they took what worked and iterated on it to make it even better. I am beyond excited for this shit. Let's. Mosey.
I was actually thinking so far rebirth feels like the empire strikes back or the two towers or back to the future part 2 of the Ff7 remake trilogy
@@thewewguy8t88 absolutely, it's the center piece where everything gets crazy. I'm already to mt corel with 100% on everything so far with the exception of s rank on the pianos. It's been incredible to say the least. Literally can't wait to play it.
@@bmcclan100 yeah so far I think this game is amazing which is why I am slightly confused on the score GameSpot gave 8 out of 10 which is surprising and a bit disappointing and even slightly concerning cuz they gave remake a 10.
@@thewewguy8t88 no doubt it has some graphical issues and I know a lot of people aren't stoked on how this part ends. Being it's the "sequel" to remake I feel like it's being judged a bit more harshly. It is odd they gave it an 8 while nearly every other outlet is a 9+...that alone makes it clickable so I don't think for a seconds it isn't SEO motivated. Regardless, review scores don't mean shit. Seems almost everyone unanimously adores the game!

I loved the demo, I am also an OG fan (was 9 when I played the original for the first time in 97). Really enjoyed those small details you talked about that "if you know, you know". One that is an easy catch for new comers and veterans alike is near the end of the demo when you walk up to your home and are blown to the ground. Cloud gets those memories of his mother saying "Run Cloud, run away." "You have to leave...you have to live." which if you recall Sephiroth told Cloud this in the Remake Chapter 2 when you first encounter him. This man is literally tormenting us with our mothers dying words! CHEF'S KISS!
Sephiroth is making Cloud remember, because his "link" to the world is through his memory. He wants Cloud to remember him, to hate him, so that he can never truly disappear.
Cloud was relatively "docile" during his talk with Sephiroth in the bombing run aftermath, until Sephiroth tells him to leave and live(which he in fact eventually do), which triggers aggression from Cloud.
Back then, I simply thought he was taunting Cloud by suggesting that Cloud should flee like a coward(with Cloud shouting "you bastard" right after), but now we know that Sephiroth was using Claudia's own words, which shook Cloud out of his trance like state.
And Sephiroth's responds with "good, hold on to that hatred". He got what he wanted out of that.
Or...
Cloud is so messed up, that he mixes various things together.
In the OG, there is no "leave and live" speech from Claudia. It might be something that the developers expanded upon(which is great), or it could be another unreliable narrator moment with Cloud mixing up Sephiroth's and Claudia's words(also great).
The fact that we can speculate like this just goes to show how well done it all is.
Crazier details is you can see a little bit of hair under the helmet. Or the va acting

Rebirth just had a different feel than remake. Seeing those credits come up in the demo felt like I was playing an interactive movie. It was a really cool feeling

This has been a game I’ve been stoked for years about. I’ve never watched a state a play live but I did this time and at the time 3 weeks didn’t feel to long. Then I played the demo…. And it wrecked me 3 weeks now feels like an eternity
I don't know why they removed the Midget truck from the entrance to Nibelheim. They even mention it in the OG. The one thing that's neat is that one of the guards has blonde hair if you look closely. Just a nice attention to detail.

This was definently a top 10 game of my childhood and that Nibelheim scene is just god damn iconic.This however elevates this flashback to whole new levels.Perfectly illustrating Sephiroth's descent to madness.

I'm just as hyped as you and looking forward to reliving my early 20s with this one. While we wait for this to drop, I highly recommend checking out NetFlix's Ultraman series. Great writing and plot lines for each season. Am also looking forward to Ninja Kamui dropping this Sunday 2/10. Giving me Ninja Scroll vibes.

never played a FF game but just got FF7 remake from my friend on ps5 and it has me looking forward to Rebirth, also it is good to hear your thoughts about the game as a fan of the original so definitely gonna give it a go when it comes out

Hey I'll be honest I haven't seen any other videos Sense the last final fantasy remake you put out there , mainly saw it because after I finished the game I kinda whent into a deep dive of what others were feeling/thinking. But I highly agreed with your view points on that video and this one, so I'm quite interested on what your opinions are on the rebirth when it comes out. Excited to see what's what.
Cloud’s mannerisms are so uncanny valley which is so appropriate considering what’s actually going on. This was so well done!

In the OG when one of the enforcers goes missing, Sephiroth sticks to the mission, not out of malice but just being a "mission first, then we can search for him" while in Rebirth he PERSONALLY tries to grab him but misses and also goes looking for him while the rest of the team stay and rest, before pressing on for the mission.
I also liked how Cloud points out that Sephiroth _was_ a really good dude.
Also, Jeremy casually wishing to see Aerith die again :(
I spent an hour on the piano just to perfect Tifa's song. That thing will be such a time sink and I can't wait to watch videos of other people play the piano.

I loved how early on in the demo Sephiroth’s theme is different and kind of upbeat and heroic until the end when he just goes nuts and we get the classic theme.
This won’t be a fix for everyone, but if you own a Sony Bravia OLED TV, you can fix the blurring issue in Performance Mode. In Picture Settings under Clarity, turn on Reality Creation mode, set it to Manual, and then turn it up to 40 or 50. This uses a Sony proprietary built-in AI upscaler to boost the imagine, and it absolutely fixed it for me without making it look bad or overly sharpened. The game looks great now in performance mode for me.
I was looking into buying an Mclassic and a 4K Gamer Pro to daisy chain them together to get the image I want; but did some research and found out that my TV actually has an upscaler built in that’s on par with an mClassic or 4K Gamer Pro. Again it won’t be a fix for everyone unfortunately but if you own a Sony OLED this will fix it 100%. If you own an LG OLED or any other brand, I’d look in your settings and see if there’s something similar to Sony’s Reality Creation mode. Hopefully when the full game releases this will be fixed. Can’t wait for Rebirth y’all! Feb 29th needs to hurry the F up!
I have a 2023 Samsung s90c OLED and the blurring really got to me. I feel like it should look a lot better. Need to do some research.
@@Bannedconfidential Yeah the performance mode visual fidelity takes a huge hit. The graphics look terribly blurry. And in graphics mode it’s way too choppy, needs motion blur. I hope this demo is from an older build of the game, and when it releases this will all be fixed! Definitely check your settings and do some googling to see, your tv probably has an upscaler built in as well. It absolutely fixed it for me. Good luck!
I think a few people have played an updated version of the game and it looked better so we can put it down to an old build causing the issues. Yuffie dlc looked amazing so I don't see it dropping below this standard.
I had zero motion blur problems. Looked fantastic
Reality Creation is definitely a game changer and I love it. It makes video games look so realistic. My only issue with Sony is that their TVs look soft out of the box and messing with the settings creates artifacting if you dont get it right. I stick to Sharpness 60, RC 60 or 50.
I have a Sony A9G and it can look out of this world, but in motion...it lacks the motion clarity and 3d effect of my Samsung S95B. And this is where my issue lies with Sony.
To get the Sony to look as clear as the Samsung on default, you have to mess with settings. The thing is the Sony can turn a blurry picture into a sharp image which I love while the Samsung just stays the same no matter if the sharpness is 10 or 20. Where as Sony sharpness 50-100 looks noticeably crispier and this is before you even get to reality creation. But the Sony will never have the same motion clarity as the Samsung and that to me that makes the Samsung look way better imo.
Because the Samsung has a beautiful default sharpness that you really can't enhance like the Sony which sucks, but overall the Samsung imo looks better although it will never look as crispy as the Sony.
It's pretty crazy how sharp the Sony can upscale an image, but the colors, brigthness, and 3d effect aren't as prominent as Samsung. Use to rock a Sony 900e (2017) and Samsung q8fn (2018). Same thing except back then the Sony had to be maxed out to contend with Q8fn. Sony has come a long way with upscaling (making RC effective with less artifacting) while imo Samsung has stayed the same or regressed. I've noticed all current day QLEDs from Samsung do not look as good as their 2018 models which I asssume is a way for them to boost the 8k and OLED models. Smh

Can always trust Jeremy to have the most correct opinions, even about video games! Nibelheim story is absolutely the crowning jewel of FF7 and what elevates the game and I loved how this demo was truly a 'if you know, you know' experience almost every second of it lol
And I agree SO much about the trailers, the only one that was exciting was the short TIFAAA one, the rest of the marketing and trailers have been so lukewarm, especially the suddenly turned opera singer Aerith one omg, that was a slog!

I freaking loved it! The nibelheim music really got to me
So FF7 for me was the first game that gave me the feels, I also played it once, when it first came out (yes I’m getting old). So my lore knowledge isn’t quite up to where some peoples will be…and I’m okay with that. The first game completely blew my mind with that approach and I’m probably going to take the same approach. Certain things stand out in my mind from the first game that I won’t go in to bc of spoilers but it doesn’t end with the plot; I have memories of battles, materia, and certain hidden bosses. Hopefully everything will make it in the remake. Anyway, im pumped for the game to come out.
We also see what camp you’re in John. Idgaf that isn’t a pure remake; I actually like how certain plot points are being retconned and I love that if it was - this game was made for me and people like me who played the first one, enjoyed it but wanted more; wanted certain things to change because of how hard it hit annnnnd that doesn’t mean it can’t hit hard again but from a different perspective.

This is great, as a fan of the og I'm just mesmerised by all the detail, and it's fun to play too. I think it could exceed expectations, which are already very high!
They are shown in the later trailers and gameplay reveal. If you want examples (stop reading if you do not want spoilers):
They are at the forgotten capitol, they are during that moment with Aerith, they are at what seems to be Gongaga reactor when cloud is fighting some soldiers and probably more I forget.

One thing that people seem to keep forgetting...the whispers...they work for Sephiroth now....he absorbed them at the end of Remake. Keep that in mind.

the retcon ghosts are now in Sephiroth's grasp from what I can tell from the trailer... so I honestly hope some scenes change.
The Shinra Mansion always gave me heavy Resident Evil Spencer Mansion vibes.
I downloaded the demo and started it, and decided I'm gonna wait for the full game, mainly bc I don't wanna have to replay this whole section again in like 2 weeks. Can't wait for Rebirth though!!
Demos need to be used more often. I never played a Final Fantasy game before FF7 remake but then played the demo and was convinced to purchase the full game and now I am invested.
They're only used when companies know they've already got a banger. You're not gonna put out a game if you know it's subpar and you're hoping to make bank over day one hype.
I like how Cloud acts and talks a lot like you know who in the flashback
I'm hoping that the lighting issues that are present in the demo are from an old build. From everything that I've seen, this could be the demo that content creators got to play earlier last year. Other than that, everything felt amazing, and it was amazing seeing Nibelheim im modern graphics
This feels like it's gonna be an Empire Strikes back feel.
Without getting into spoilers, clouds demeanor compared to remake was awesome for obvious reasons for those that know, and every interaction he had with the motion sick grunt was 10/10 perfection. The foreshadowing and symbolism was EPIC!

Are they gonna be in rebirth or the next game cus i cant remember if they came before or after that moment it been a while since i played the original been meaning to go back to the original but i keep putting it of for other games btw i reckon the game will end with that moment

Depends on if they have shifted the story around a bit. Originally, the weapons are unleashed after the visit to the northern crater, and from the sound of it, part 2 stops before that.
But they also said that the sequence of some things have changed, so maybe the weapons are unleashed/seen earlier.
I doubt we get to fight them until part 3 though.

Been 26 years since I first experienced ff7 and the nibelheim incident...and it still lives rent free in my head as one of the greatest moments in gaming.... getting to experience this demo of it has me hyped.

If they do everything they did with FFVII Remake, and fix the things that needed fixing this will be top 10 all-time game stuff.
I am so ready for this game! Thought the demo was really good. And yes, this really is kind of the turning point that sets everything in ffvii in motion.
They've done a fantastic job in allowing the story to deviate from the original
