You see pictures of Stamp as a Shinra mascot across the game and during the Zack flashback, there's a bag flying across the screen with a completely different Stamp design. Keep in mind that it's only a short time between the start of FF7 and when Zack dies near Midgar, so there shouldn't be a different design.

  • @Drukzul
    @Drukzul 4 года назад +55

    So... The zack thing... Stay with me here, uh.
    When you defeat the whispers at the end of the game, it destroys them across ALL timelines, everywhere, instantly. Remember that the whispers exist outside of time and space, and are in all times, and all spaces simultaneously. The whispers are intended to keep the "true" timeline intact, and it can be inferred that they are trying to maintain this timeline EVERYWHERE, ALWAYS, including the event where Zack dies. Because the whispers are defeated, Zack can win the fight against the Shinra troops, and does.
    In the cutscene with Zack at the end of the game, a potato chip bag flies by with a logo of "Stamp the Dog". Now, in the main game, AVALANCHE uses the image of Stamp as a marker of safety, or of a safe path, etc. The imagery is that of a beagle or similar breed. However, the Stamp we see on the potato chip bag at the end with Zack is a completely different breed of "Stamp the Dog". The breed we see is a terrier of sorts.
    Having a beloved character amongst the population of midgar be two different breeds is certainly possible, as the company who owns the Stamp IP could change it up, but the ending of Crisis Core is SO CLOSE timeline-wise to the start of Final Fantasy VII's bombing mission, this seems VERY unlikely that AVALANCHE could be spray-painting images of Stamp The Dog in his beagle incarnation all over subway lines only a couple weeks after we see a fairly pristine bag of Stamp The Dog potato chips with a version of the character as a Scottish Terrier.
    This leads a lot of people (myself included) to believe that the destruction of the whispers fractured time, and there are now multiple concurrent timelines. Stamp the Dog is simply one of the things that are slightly different in that different timeline. (Think "Into the Spiderverse" here)
    We play in a timeline that Cloud saw Zack die, has the buster sword, etc.
    Zack now exists alongside another Cloud in another timeline where he did not die, Cloud does not have the buster sword, and Zack is the main hero. (Perhaps Zack-focussed spinoff-game???)

    1. It gives square an excuse if they decide to shuffle events around and possibly cut locations out of the remake. Otherwise I don't see how they can fit all the content into 3 episodes (assuming it is just three episodes)
    2. It keeps the players on their toes and maintains tension. Now you don't know for sure how events will play out and this gives them the ability to fuck with your expectations and surprise players
    I feel like if square does not put too much focus on this aspect of the plot it will be good. But then this is Nomura we are dealing with. So I am hoping to God that he learned some lessons from kh and doesn't make this over the top convoluted.

    Hey Jeremy, love your work, here are your Answers:
    1- Why Crisis Core isn't avaliable elsewhere? GACKT. Genesis Raphosodos has his voice and likeness made to match Japanese Singer and Actor Gackt. The part was also WRITEN for him and has major implications to the overall plot of FFVII ( Original, Crisis core and Dirge of Cerberus ) instead of paying for that or having to rework a 13 year old PSP game to change one character completely, Square Enix decided to move to a different route.
    2- The timeline. It is very much a split timeline, because Sephiroth is the one trying to change fate. This is Sephiroth from Advent Children moving through the Lifestream to go back in time and alter the events that led to HIS destiny. So he is forcing the hand of Cloud and the others to alter THEIR destinies to one where They fail, and he wins. Aerith is aware that the future where they win is the one where she dies, so now she will try to guide the heroes back into that timeline. This is not a "Retelling" of FFVII, it's a sequel.
    3- During the final boss battle, RED XIII has a Flashforward that is LITERALLY a scene from Advent Children movie, which is ALSO the last scene from FFVII, he then proceeds to tell them that "This is tomorrow if we DONT win today". It's a play on words he uses to not let the others know this means he knows that Aerith needs to die. The 3 big things you fight also have the weapons and moves from the 3 Enemies from Advent Children and they summon Bahamut (just like Advent Children).
    4- There is a timeline now where Zack lives and Cloud is different. Cause his memories never got messed with. In that same Timeline Biggs is alive. Wedge is not alive. The Whispers of Fate kept him alive to help out, but in the shinra building when Wedge tries to interfere with Fate, they literally toss him out of a window, you can hear the glass break in the scene.
    Sephiroth is trying to destroy the future that he dies in, in order to alter his fate and become someone above fate itself. And if you think FFVII is just about tolkien's "Nature vs Industrial" just remember that JENOVA is literally a Shapeshifter space alien that came to earth to consume all life, and sephiroth is it's Lab Baby. FFVII is pure cosmic horror and now Sephiroth is Lavos from Chrono Trigger.
    Think of it this way... Square Enix took a 23 year old game and made it so that even old fans are getting ALL the fanservice they desire, while still having no clue of where the story is going to go. The Villain wants to prevent the original FFVII to happen, and the heroes will have to go through all the beats of it, while experiencing new things. They made the Old New again while still having every single element of the original in the game.

    The ending of Crisis Core is just my favorite ending in any FF games.
    The music, while Zack fights this onslaught of Infantrymen, being bombarded by Helicopters, and the DMW slowly glitching away. The DMW was something that I kinda didn't like, I liked how it got me out of crazy situations at times, but it's to heavily reliant on luck; But the ending used a gameplay mechanic to tell a story.
    Zack slowly trying to hold on to the memories of his friends; Struggling to keep his mind going as he takes damage and gets weaker.
    Zack just basically lost everything, that's why even though he is overly positive people still like him; People just want him to catch a break.
    -He had to kill his mentor and friend
    -If you add BC he failed to save 2 of his friends
    -His idol burns a village and kill a bunch of people; And he is forced to fight him
    -He is experimented on for 4 years
    -After breaking free, he is constantly attacked, while he has to protect Cloud
    -He can't even meet his parents, because everybody knew he was naive enough to go back to his hometown
    -He has to fight his mentors best friend, after trying to save him
    - Not long after the last remaining "essence" of Angeal dies and he receives the 89th letter from Aerith stating his been away for 4 years and that she's basically given up on seeing him again
    And at the end his memories of Aerith was the last thing he desperately tried to hold on to. And even in death the guy still managed to smile.

So since they were destroyed, their timeline morphed to what it was supposed to be. So when they leave the portal they enter a "different timeline." So theoretically, in that timeline, there is a Cloud with a Buster Sword from the newly renovated "original timeline" and a Cloud that wasn't affected by the Whispers of Fate and lives in that time without a Buster Sword and with a Zack that's alive. Either that or they just created another separate timeline where they will intersect at some point. It's either one of those two options. But I'm leaning towards the first because Aerith obviously sensed Zack when they walked past each other. Either that or she sensed another timeline was created.

    There are a lot of interesting theories about FF7 Remake. Here are some of my favorites:
    -Notice how Sephiroth's wings are black. Not only does he normally not have a wing at that point but at the end of the orignial it was white. The black wing Sephiroth comes from Advent Children.
    -When cloud get's his "head aches", later in the story he also grips his left arm... the same place that has Geostigma in Advent Children.
    -The three whisper bosses in the end are Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz from Advent Children. Who once again summon Bahamut.
    -FF7 original ends with all humans permanently dead (confirmed by Square). It's no good for Sephiroth or anyone else. Sephiroth is using that to lead them to break fate to save themselves, which also frees himself. Just like in the original, Sephiroth is manipulating Cloud & co. to achieve his own ends.
    -The remake is a sequel in the perspective that your in a new timeline trying to fix what happened in the original.
    -Zach is very likely not alive in their timeline, but a different one (who knows how that will play out). The Cloud that we know's timeline still needs for Zach to be dead... otherwise Cloud as we know it wouldn't exist. He wouldn't be the Fake because Zach never left him w/his legacy. The bag of chips showing stamp in Zach's scene shows a different Stamp, indicating a different timeline. It's even less likely for them to have landed in Zach's timeline otherwise there are 2 Clouds, Tiffas, Barrets, Reds, and Aeriths. That would be truly nonsensical.... even for Square-Enix
    -Aerith is most likely still going to die, but this time it will be worse. Everyone thinks there's a chance at saving her but Aerith knows it needs to happen. Cloud will assume he can stop it since they changed fate and Zach may even be involved so he can suffer through it too this time, assuming he finds his way to being relevant in the story. Sephiroth loves destroying what Cloud holds dear and nothing hurt him more than Aerith's death. Leading him to think he can save her is just another head game... and if he succeeds it actually helps Sephiroth.
    -Original FF7 story has a direct connection with time manipulation via materia... knowledge of the ancients via the lifestream on how to manipulate time is right in step with FF7 lore.
    -The 7 seconds at the end of creating is referring to the same time it takes for Sephiroth to kill Aerith. That part of the story is also playing the same song. It would make sense for Sephiroth to try and lead Cloud into stopping the event that crushed him... which is actually in Sephiroth's benifit.
    -Cloud supposedly attempts Omni Slash at the edge of creation, but since this Sephiroth has already seen it before he's able to block/avoid the whole thing.
    -By the end of Remake it's clear Aerith is far more aware of what's going on than in the original... including her need to die. Hence the chapter 14 resolution where she tells him that he can't fall in love with her. She's probably aware what her death does to him.

    I think the whole "changed our fate" thing is related only to this part of the remake. The arbiters of fate are gone now. The entire game was basically a way for Square-Enix to tell us, "There ain't no gettin off this train we're on... just kidding, this train transformed into a space ship and it can go wherever the f*ck it wants." These arbiters were just a way to condition us players to accept any and all changes Square-Enix might make from here onward. It's actually a genius way of doing this. Imagine how much rage the entire fanbase would have if they changed any major part of the story WITHOUT the entire premise of "changing your fate" from this part of the story? Here's my theory: The game we bought is Final Fantasy VII: Remake. Remake is the name of the first episode. When you think about it, it's a really appropriate title since in the game they're remaking the timeline and the game clearly wasn't a remake and I think Square did this for us to realize when they release Final Fantasy VII's second episode whatever it's titled (FFVII: Unknown Journey for example). They did confirm it was episodic so it'd make sense for it to have a title and also remake would be a genius title in itself when you really think about it. Let me know what you think!

    • @Domination1799

    • @dmxfactor
      @dmxfactor 4 года назад +4

      @@Domination1799 so did you not enjoy the game? Or was it just the resolution? Because if you wanted a 1:1 remake of the original, you wouldn't have gotten a 5 hour portion of the original fleshed out into 30+ hours. • @Domination1799
      @Domination1799 4 года назад +7

      dmxfactor The ending and dementors make this game not what FF7 is about. It was never about stopping fate or any of that KH’s crap. It also is padded out to the point that the flow of the story feels dragged out. I don’t mind altering some things. But you can’t change the framework of the plot and call it a remake. They also said that this game would be very faithful to the original and that’s not true when the story is a retcon.

    • @GabeVargas
      @GabeVargas 4 года назад

      Dominik Santiago I think it’s a touchy subject. I think a 1:1 remake would’ve been bittersweet because while the term “don’t fix what broken” is more or less true for a lot of things, I don’t think it applies to a 20+ year old game, the technology is so much more advanced and they proved they can do much more now so I say let them expand on this universe and amazing story and I’m sure it’ll continue to make a lot of fans happy. I’m sure with time things in the story will make more sense just give it time and have some faith.

    • @Domination1799
      @Domination1799 4 года назад +5

      Gabriel Zombei I don’t know if I can be on board for this. The reason why FF7 is so special for me anyway is because it’s a tragic story of a group of people who are beaten down and lose those closest to them. No matter how much they lose, they sacrifice everything in order to save the planet.
      One big example is that they changed the impact of the Sector 7 plate dropping. You lose most of your AVALANCHE crew but here, there alive and kicking.
      The biggest one for me other than the dumb time ghosts is the man himself Sephiroth. Instead of looming in the background and mentioned in passing, he just shows up randomly a lot, eliminating the eerie ness of his first appearance which is when he massacres the Shinra building.
      Fans wanted the original story, not Nomura’s KH’s.

A lot of changes are widely approved of by the people who are being accused of wanting the exact story all over again. The drastic difference is pretty clear, some were faithful to the tone, themes and main plot of ffvii, were widely regarded as well written and added rather than subtracted from the storyline. Whispers=ghosts of the Cetra=the spirits in the temple of the Ancients. The spirits in the temple of the ancients protected the temple in the OG and Aerith was able to communicate with them. In this game they gave them a bigger roll in protecting the planet, by protecting Aerith and anyone who is with her, because she has the key to save the world. The whispers were trying to keep them from pursuing Sephiroth by creating a vortex, making it impossible to go down the road and tearing up the road, fighting them, showing them visions of what could happen if they do, because they can’t speak. Well SE tend to show post-game stuff that hints at their next side game or DLC like with Kingdom Hearts.
      My guess would be we'll get a Remake DLC exploring what would have happened during the Midgar section of FF7 if Zack had survived where you play as him.
      In Crisis Core they develop Genesis' character a lot, and Deep Ground take away his corpse at the very end. In Dirge of Cerberus Deep Ground surfaces from below Midgar and in the end scene Genesis is revived.
      In FF7R we got hints of Deep Ground and even explored it a bit, meaning the plate falling has uncovered it years earlier than it did originally in this timeline.
      We'd have time to explore that further in Zack's DLC (I'd assume he'll die at the end of it maybe from Roche and that timeline will close) but we as the player will know what's going on in Deep Ground now so it can be dealt with later on in a future episode. It's a good way of doing exposition for something big that's coming later. Personally I'd love to have Genesis involved during the original FF7 timeline trying to also stop Sephiroth.

      There is none. Defenders will say he dies in the rain shortly after the scenes but the order of events were shown deliberately.
      1. Zack is shown in his final battle with the whispers who transcend time watching over his fate (and surrounding midgar.)
      2. The party defeats fate.
      3. Zack is shown living while the whispers are defeated across all of time.
      To say it suggests anything but Zack's fate changing and a split in timelines is ludicrous. The harbinger assessment is explicit in transcending time. The whisper assessments are explicit in saying that these entities manifested from a future timeline - giving precedence to timelines.

    This “Remake” is most likely a FFVII-2, a sequel to the OG FFVII. At the end of FFVII, we see Aerith casting Holy and stopping the impact of Meteor, then seeing Aerith’s face with a Mako Particles around her. The same happens in this “Remake” at the *beginning* with Aerith looking at a busted Mako pipe like she’s seeing/ experiencing the events of the OG FFVII, through a vision. Yes this means the OG FFVII was a vision.
    Aerith suddenly gets up and senses Sephiroth’s presence, a familiar feeling very wrong to her, as she runs away from the busted mako pipe instead of walking away like how she did in the original FFVII (the vision). Aerith throughout the game knows of and is aware of the OG FFVII timeline but acts like she doesn’t until the very end for the sake of preserving pivotal moments in the canon FFVII timeline.
    However , because of the whispers, who are the planets’ defense in terms of time and space, they begin to act against her when she threatens the timeline ( example being dragged away for having no indications of leaving Cloud during their first interaction on the street, trying to stop Cloud physically from killing Reno, etc...).
    Sephiroth is well aware also. Appearing and messing with Cloud waaaay before he even left Midgar and talking about changing fate and destiny when he knows his original plan had failed.
    So in actuality this FFVII has been about a cosmic battle between Aerith, the speaker of the planet, and Sephorith, the deadly alien entity, to which I hope they dive more into personally. I’m honestly psyched for the next game.✨🔥

      thats cool and all but thats also like saying that everything that came after it is also a "dream" or not real in some way, like advent children never happened and dirge of cerberus never happened and that sucks
      you just retconned a movie and a game out of existance AND you may also be retconning the prequels that happened before ff7 like before crisis and crisis core
      so...yeah final fantasy 7 "remake" a potential trilogy that may very well kill three games (four if you count how different this was from the original and you consider it killing the legacy that was build by the events of the original ff7) and one movie
      so yeah this game has been to say the least very divisive for the fanbase, especially to people that have been playing final fantasy games for years and consider the last good one final fantasy 10 and dont believe square has done anything worthwhile with the franchise except updating is graphics

    • @themaineone2984

      Magus
      Actually...Advent Children is where the whispers predesign was first used. Look at the scene where Sephiroth appears and summons dark clouds to cover the sky. In the next few seconds pause and look at what’s on the screen. You should see black ghost-like figures that Sephiroth summoned. This explains why in the final fight he could use the whispers to defend himself against Clouds epic strike (the hit before being transported to the edge of eternity). And now that I think about I feel like the end of the fight signifies the possibility of Sephiroth going back in time with power to affect the timeline.
      Aerith is a Cetra, who has the power to see into the planet condition, tap into knowledge, and as well as its timeline, making it easy to see the demise of humanity 500 years after her time because of her death. People need to realize humanity was only *temporary saved* by Aerith’s death. Aerith is the protector of Gaia, her being is so strong that it stayed as it’s own entity in the life stream. Being in the livestream, she sensed Sephorith’s deadly presence and kept her distance.
      My new theory involves Aerith’s soul communicating to a past version of herself, warning her of this to come through the Mako pipe. Everything of my first theory’s explanation follows after.
      Advent Child Kinda Sucked though to be honest with you though, and I’m a FF
      F-A-N-A-T-I-C. I feel like it’s good to retcon, *only* if you do it right. And if the theories some how hold up...the fandom is in for a treat.
      I hope for Aerith finally succeeding in defeating Sephiroth from *above* the grave, save the world( comparison to Yuna from FFX) , honor her people, and restart the ancients.

      That’s honestly too bad because the ending of the remake confirmed that it’s not going to be the exact same story line as the original.
      The writers wanted to do something different for the current fans and the new audiences waiting for this game. I feel like people don’t trust game developers or anyone creativity in charge of re-delivering an og concept that they know and love because they are scarred for it being ruined.
      However, the og FFVII in the 1990s was created for a different audience. *And* the original people who worked on the same original are here working on this one, a power-move I so much appreciate.
      I like how the developers chose to remake this story choosing to subvert expectations while giving us iconic moments we dare soon not to forget.
      If you want to play the first game’s story, just play it dude lol. They just remastered it for switch, pc, iOS, and PS4. If you don’t like traditional turn based systems, which is a genre final fantasy *defined*, you’ll just have to wait for the newer sequels.

    I think FF7Remake is a victim to the original's popularity. The twists and turns that were surprising in 1997 are well known and documented within the gaming community. I knew Aerith's eventual fate before I'd ever even heard of Final Fantasy. That's how well known and landmark that twist was. I'm not certain, but I'd say this defying of fate is to reestablish stakes for the story to come. Everyone playing this game will hesitate to get attatched to Aerith because they know where she's going. How does Square get you then? They give you the hope that you might save her. Now there's a chance we can change one of the darkest moments in gaming history. Therefore if she dies all the same, it won't be "oh well, it was bound to happen." It'll be , "I had the chance to save her and failed."
    To get even more meta, i think that this isn't just the developer's plans, i think that it's Sephiroth's plans. He clearly acts with future knowledge and seems to know the story to come. He goads cloud throughout the game with hints and visions. I think he ALSO wants Cloud to think he can change the future, only to snatch it out from under him at the last second. Sephiroth's whole motivation was to torment Cloud by the end of his story so it wouldn't shock me.

    • @Ephideltrance
      @Ephideltrance 4 года назад +1

      I like your explanation....Aerith sacrifice was the defining moment of FF7 though, to change it would be huge but they already made substantial changes. I actually believe though a sacrifice has to happen- it just may not be Aerith this time around, someone else may die- Tifa perhaps? If this Sephiroth really is from the future where he was defeated then he himself may not kill Aerith knowing her death was the key to his eventual downfall.
      I never played the original so only know the general story, as much as these arbiters of fate and time travel aspects are interesting, these sort of tropes tend to be confusing and complicated and one can only wonder, was it necessary to complicate the plot this much? Basically this game may head into Kingdom Hearts complexity, that Arbiter boss was basically a giant Darkside Heartless, Nomura's handy-work.

      To be fair this is bad reasoning. As popular as the story is there are still so many new comers to the FF7 and to Final Fantasy in general who absolutely had no idea that Aerith might die along with other plot elements but now they know about it too simply because the Remake decided to flat out spoil everything by showing Aerith dead on screen as a flash forward among many other things. So just.. No. On top of that sometimes even if people know how the story will go it doesn't take away the emotional impact nor the brutality of the moment but now we have a bad case of potential fanfiction coming our way that will fall flat on its face.

      if there was a new romeo and juliet movie claiming to be a faithful retelling coming out and it goes from a story of lovers torn by conflict to space opera with time travel it wouldn't be faithful the original, just because you know they will die doesn't mean that the story isn't worth retelling faithfully, ff7 remake isn't a victim of the original's popularity since it was trying to sell copies using that popularity and thus invoked the wrath of the original and to forever be compared since it calls itself a "remake".

    In Kingdom Hearts (another Tetsuya Nomura game) time travel/alternate timelines are a thing however, there are certain requirements for time travel you must follow.
    To gain the ability to transcend time, you must first cast aside the flesh and become an existence of only a heart (a formless being with a soul thus losing your physical self).
    -Once you gain the ability, you can never lose the ability, even if you become complete again (once you regain your orginal form you will still be able to time travel).
    When you move through time, in either direction, there must be a version of yourself waiting at the destination. (You must be alive in the past or future you are trying to visit if not you cannot time travel)
    You can only travel backwards through time once.
    -If you travel backwards, upon arrival, you can only move forward as per the laws of time.
    -YOU CANNOT REWRITE the events that are destined to happen.
    You can travel forward through time as often as you like.
    -If you travel forward, you must eventually return to your proper era.
    -Upon returning to your proper time, you will lose the memories and experiences you gained while time travelling. (Although you lose your memories the ability to time travel can still be done as stated by the first law)
    You cannot travel in both directions, you must choose one. (Either go back in time or move forward)
    In relation to this game maybe someone is trying to rewrite events in their favor (possibly Sephiroth) thus breaking a law of time which triggers The Whispers to make sure events play out the way they were intended to be.
    However, alternate timelines exist both in Kingdom Hearts as described by Luxu in his secret reports in KHIII and in this game when it is shown Zack is alive even showing an alternate Stamp art on a bag of chips indicating this isn't the same timeline.

      Technically hearts are not souls. Yes, it's mind-boggling since I've always assumed that was the metaphor they were going for. I learned about this last night and unless the game corrects itself at some future point they seem like separate things.
      Spoilers for KH3:
      When Xemnas is about to strike down Lea / Axel and Xion stops him. She says, "We need him alive. You know that."
      Xemnas responds, "We only need his heart in order to forge the key. We do not need his soul."
      So they seem like completely different things. Again this is just one line, so I could be completely missing on other past context but I believe this is the most recent development on the difference between the two.

Unfortunately I got spoiled on some major scenes in the original reading through forums and chats (but hey it's kind of difficult to avoid for a 20 year old game). I guess it's just not exciting knowing what happens in some major events I want to be able to not know anything going forward. Yea there's potential to fuck it up but I personally don't want the writers to be tied down to their own script from 20+ years ago. From what I understand from the ending it seems like they still acknowledge the original happened but still allowing themselves to create something new so to me it's more exciting that way.

    Honestly, even if almost everyone and their mother knows the plot of the original game, I still think that liberties with the story shouldn't be taken so lightly. The update with the visuals and combat system alone are worth the value of the game, in my opinion. Changing the story such that Zack is alive and there's these weird dementor-like things trying to keep fate in check and the potential for alternative timelines just doesn't feel right at all. Zack's death is so integral to Cloud's and Aerith's story that keeping him alive would mess a lot of things up.

    • @Zethrae
      @Zethrae 4 года назад +16

      It wasn't Nomura that wrote the story.. Everybody has this concept that he did because he's the one mostly shown in interviews. No, it was the original writer of the game that wrote the script. Nomura has influence as the director yes but he mostly has say about what can go into the game or not, and ofc he can give his opinion. But if he gave an opinion, and it ended up in the game, that would be because the writer agreed with him. It isn't all Nomura. The writer himself also liked the change.

      @@Melodyofthesea78 I never said the ending was bad xD I fervently enjoy the new direction as well and can't wait to see more. What I was saying is that the way the events are set up, is that the end of the og FF7 is considered the "bad end" as everybody eventually dies 500 years after the game, 496 specifically after Dirge.

    I think you're giving the timeline thing more thought than the designers did. They're not interested in exploring that idea, this is entirely a narrative justification for 'we don't want to follow the script'.

    I agree 100% with all you've said. I love bioshock and Legacy of Kain. And Kingdom Hearts as well, mind you, but Final Fantasy VII should be Kingdom Hearts and have elements like it at all. I'm okay with having changes, but they should've been done through narrative that would feel coherent to the world of FFVII.
    Instead, we got meta-language that goes against the narrative style of the game, that made me fall in love with the original in the first place.
    I'm feeling depressed.

This game has a part where people are flat out stating they wish to forcefully impregnate a woman, flat out rape them, which absolutely is not something any children should see in their games.
