  • Welcome back! It has been one year since the last time I did a dyno video of my car. Last year my car was black with a Naruto theme "livery". This year she's back with a whole new look, peach colorshift wrap, white Stage wheels, and a Vertex replica body kit. Also here at the dyno is Deago's black HR 350z with the purple livery and Valino N-Style wheels, and Jake Wise who I compared my car to last year on the dyno, with his yellow DE 350z with red and black livery. Check out how each of our cars did on the dyno, all newly refreshed and tuned by Ben Lee, VPF.
Who's car did you like the best?!

Get rid of those hot air intakes and get some better longtubes! Will help a lot.

Paint! 💯💯 Can’t get wrap to that wet shine like a good paint job, but both can definitely look good!

    Awesome vid as per usual.
That stock HR you had there was making 280ish which is right on the money for a stock HR so something is definitely off on your Z for sure.
On the 250whp pull the dude said it was only at 29° of ignition timing which is very odd considering you were already tuned and no tuner would set such low ignition timing. (thats less than stock)
HRs thrive around 33°-34°, sometimes 35° of timing but that depends on fuel and if its limited by knock so I wonder what he set the ign timing and target AFR to after retuning.
I'd be curious to see a datalog for your Z, with AFRs, ign timing, oil temp, knock, maf g/sec and cam phasing.
If your oil temps are high the ECU is set to take out ignition timing to stay safe.
For example, if oil temps are under 219°F its fine but once you hit 219°F it'll take out 1° of timing, then it'll take out 2° when it surpases 230°F, 3° at 240°F etc.
You should be making a bit over 300 with a proper tune, even with those hot air intakes which you should extend into your bumper btw lol oh and clean the filters and MAFs

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah my original tune must have gotten messed up some how. It may have been because the car was mechanically having issues during the time it was getting tuned the first time. I have heard great things about Ben and since he has fixed it from this day it feels much better. I’ll be taking the car back to him to have him do a completely refreshed tune on it and he’s building custom intakes for it! I will definitely post a video for all of that when it gets done.

Nice, looking forward to that intake vid.
If going up in size to full 3" piping make sure to get tuned immediately or you wont even be able to drive it to your tuner.
Look into an intake manifold from the VQ37VHR, its a direct swap as well which increases top end and flattens the torque curve, just make sure to get the manifold, runners and fuel rails off a 3.7 car all together. People let the whole setup go for $300ish usually.
If injector duty cylce is high throw on some GTR fuel injectors (Blue) which you can find for $200ish, just beware of fake ones from Ebay though. Could also get away with using the 37VHR ones (orange) which flow more than 35HR ones (green) but can be found for cheaper than the GTR ones if trying to save money.
Would be good to check the overall health of the motor as well sometime, it would probably make for some decent video content for people to watch and learn a thing or two.
Like compression testing the cylinders and checking oil pressure with a mechanical gauge at idle and 2K RPM to determine if your oil gallery gaskets are blown (they probably are, its very rare that they arent lol)

@@ado038 awesome. Yeah I’ll need to buy a daily before I start pulling stuff off the motor.

@@ado038 wait, the intake runners are a direct swap from a VHR to an HR? And if so, do I need to get a tune after?

Your engine turns down the timing when it detects knock. But basically if you do better maintenance and treat it better it will run better and you need people around you who arent yes men and will tell you what you need to hear. There is a reason stock well maintained cars are making more power than your sad car

No worries there. I’m not around “yes men”. And you’re right, I don’t take great care of the car. It’s a salvage title drift car and I treat it as such.
