talking about the WWII pilots, my biggest regret was not backing up a copy of an email interview i did with Major Robert K. Morgan who was the pilot of the Memphis Belle. was doing a project at the time for school which i explained to him and only sent him like 6 or 7 questions but he ended up sending me about 5 pages worth of information that he thought was important to help me complete it. honestly didn't even think he was going to answer my questions, took a complete shot in the dark on it.
19:00 Yes, I survived flying MSY-IAH on the UA 737, but not without incident. Gonky, I think both you and Mover jinxed me when you said it was "just a short flight". The FO's flight display hard broke and they couldn't reboot it. We had to deplane, wait for parts that were arriving 3 hours later with another hour installation. Fortunately there was another inbound plane "that was not broken" (their words) and we could use it. But still, the one hour became five hours. All my four flights in US carriers either hard broke, pilots timing out, going back to the gate to refuel, or rerouting through the NOLA storm, and those delays were so exhausting. I flew back to home to Asia on a Singapore Airlines A350 and that was a lovely flight.
So sorry to hear about Peter Caulk's passing. Loved Mover's interview with the Top Gun bros, still remember Organ telling the story of that 'inverted' picture that Horse took.
RIP HORSE CAULK
Awesome show as always. This show is the highlight of my week. So much humour and wisdom in one show. Thanks to all
Great MHM. Appreciate you guys. Can't get ovet how fast this time goes by. Hugs to miss Luna.
You guys have made me look forward to Mondays lol! Great episode as always!
The problem with the PRC invading Taiwan would be that they wouldn’t be able to secure semiconductor wafer processing. The equipment would likely be sabotaged, and even if it weren’t, long term they wouldn’t be able to keep all that equipment running where it’s all American, Dutch, and Japanese and absolutely requires manufacturer support. They’d probably lose support for the less advanced equipment used for semiconductor processing in China. It would throw the worldwide semiconductor market into a tailspin, including in China, where a ton of chips processed in Taiwan go into other products. It would be total economic suicide for China to do it, especially with the possibility of sanctions.
While Taiwan has at least 60% of the worldwide semiconductor wafer production market, there still is advanced production in the US, Japan, South Korea, and Europe. Some of that is even TSMC hedging against disruptions in Taiwan.
even Malaysia is up and coming, currently 6th exporter of semi-conductors in the world.
@@Glee73
I don’t believe Malaysia has any fabs with the most advanced process nodes. However, they do a lot of packaging in Malaysia, and often that’s what people end up seeing. Heck, I’ve gotten inquires from Intel’s chip design recruiting in Penang.
The big worries are with the most advanced processes below 10 nm, and I believe currently only TSMC, Samsung, and Intel have that in large scale production.
Have you checked with Jimmy from "Jimmy's World?" He might have connections who can help you look or fix the tanks .... and he lives in Florida.
J-10 looks more like the BAe EAP from 1985 but with one engine.
Even more like the IAI Lavi...
[Edit] Oh, they mention that in the stream. I hadn't got that far yet.
I agree with Gonky, the King Stallion is a really cool helicopter!
Geographically speaking, Gonky is correct. Turkey is part of Asia and Europe, similar to Russia on a much smaller scale.
I think a a10 could be an excellent drone killer.
Flights high, slow, high loitering time, can carry a lot of laser guided rockets, and if they slow down the rate of fire of the gun lots of firing time.
No radar. It was never meant for air to air.
Whole point is making it cheaper and not using missiles. That yak has way lower maintenance.
@@MrTakin00
What would be the point? Cheap would be cannons or unguided rockets. What would probably be most effective would be an infrared imaging version of the air to air Stinger. I heard that older style heat seekers can’t easily lock on a drone, but imaging IR just sees objects based on differences in heat. If you’ve ever seen night vision output, it’s easy enough to see any objects, including plants.
And the 30 mm is cheaper than ANY missile, even FFAR's Especially if there can be a proximity fuze version of the cannon shell. Shades of WWII and Kamikazes. A WartHog can out maneuver any winged drone. once you get the cost of the Cure cheaper than the Pestilence, it's a piece of cake logistics wise.
@@paulholmes672
The cannon is designed to fire down at the ground. It’s most definitely not geared towards hitting targets in the air.
the super station is a absolute beast.
I don't get to watch this live, but I do always enjoy watching the replay Tuesday(or sometimes Wednesday) morning. I do miss seeing WMBAT on there though. Hopefully he gets to come back soon.
A Eurofighter and an F-16 had.... ❤❤❤❤
the disconnect with the f35 is that there are ZERO options that LM has to compete with. add the very real need for replacement airframes, LM simply has too much influence being they are the only option for over 2 decades.
Another great show. Looking forward to next week. How will we find you? 👀⁉️
It will still be on this channel 👍
Just wondering if you all had seen the xfinity ad, its a meetup of Nam-era Naval aviators and them using VR. would be a good review. Tried posting with the link but the comment got ate ;)
36:03 hangman shot something that was from the coldwar. So an old mig
👏
You just have to be impressed with the CH-53K, Max speed 158 kts , 181 m/ph or 293 k/ph. That's one fast big ass helicopter no matter how you look at it. Faster than a UH-60M .
I bet Saudi Arabia is getting the A-10s
There’s the Ukrainian MiG-29 that shot down a drone with a missile, but was too close to the kill and ingested all the debris and shrapnel. The pilot had to eject. The French Navy used a helicopter door gun to shoot down a Houthi drone.
Are they including the take off in the race to 10,000? Maybe the taxi too haha
The French have been taking down drones with their helis and door mounted 50 cal.
Another great show.
Hey mover and Gonky, thanks for the show!!!
Btw Mover, your mic had some distortion throughout the video.. Not sure if you noticed...
How many A10s got shot down in both iraq wars? 6 between 8000 missions Both were sam heavy combined arms conflicts. 70 were damaged but made it back and 2 of the six were written off after they flew back to base. These werent the most outdate SAMs at the time. Its designed to survive. They also wouldnt be sent out as a a10 only strike package in a combined arms war bc they know what happens when they do. The a10 is more effective than the apache at this point considering how many were downed in a single mission from AAA and small arms
down sized AIR-2 genie
28:45 Reminds me of the Fairey Swordfish vs Bismarck. The AA mounts on Bismarck had trouble tracking something that slow. Though during the later channel dash the FW-190s protecting the German ships lowered their wheels to slow down enough to engage the Swordfish. Not a good day to be in a swordfish.
the typhoon has decent kinetics.
We’re has wombat Gone ?😎
Civilians don't understand military humor, sure miss that.
I’d like to point out anyone is vulnerable to attack no matter when or what time in history also the “broader” conflict is already in motion it’s a matter of time
The French Navy did shoot down drones with their helis deployed from destroyers, there's a video.
ranges involved for US War operations in the Taiwan strait is a HUGE problem. yup that would be a cluster fu(×
might be looking for adversary air pilots, just saying.
j10 is a single engine eurofighter.
Doesn't the Army still use Loaches here and there ?
1:22:40 I still don’t get why we allow Chinese businesses to buy land in the USA
I wish you could touch a P-51 for only 1.2 million most go for well north of 2 million.
May sound like a dumb question. Why can’t someone/company weld up a fuel tank for an OH-6 or any other aircraft? Just FYI I’m a car guy anything can be done to a car as long as you have the money..
whole different set of safety requirements when it comes to aviation. experimental classified aircraft are a little bit looser but are also restricted to personal use aircraft.
Yep. 3D print the bags would be so much easier, but then paperwork to make it legal is gonna kill it.
Those other Guys fought evil aswell. They lost and did not have the chance to write a successfull historybook. War is bad for all sides. Remember and honor our warriors, so we may be spared their experience.
What does 15 K gets you these days in the US...like 2-3 moth rent???
f35 taking fuel😂
Crazy they copied the f-16 and out a canopy brace thing in it
You can always look at America buying those 81 Russian jets as a way of ensuring that they don’t make their way into countries like Iran/Syria/Yaman etc.
buy then dammit, real life DCS type content with near 100% kill rate😅
@Mover, I get it. Cops vs firemen.i love the inter-service rivalry like the rest. The banter is real. But you’re doing a disservice to yourself with the constant 2nd responder comments. I’m a religious watcher of your channel and absolutely love your, and Gonky’s, content. But as a retired, 25 year firefighter and former infantry Marine, I am compelled to inform you, that your joking comments referring to the “less dangerous” career path of a firefighter as 2nd responders is unappreciated. I’ve pulled uneducated cops from house fires after their daring, but failed acts of heroism. Danger exists from many vectors. Just because a certain vector doesn’t include bullets, doesn’t mean those FIRST RESPONDERS are any less deserving. That said, as a veteran, I greatly appreciate you guys and what you do for active duty service members and veterans. Keep up the great work.
🤦🏻♂️🤣
Thought once a marine always marine. What’s up with this former stuff
This fireman isn’t offended, do you, boo.
Time stamps please! 😫
It’s a live show.
Turn it on, prop your phone up, and go do some dishes man.
should have been 60 seconds, no respect.
My understanding of ordinary us military protocol, is that, in the event an Su-35 is detected, routine procedure is to eject.
Su-35 are easy kills for modern us jets
One of the most impressive WW2 series I've seen in the last years is the following. First saw it at Nat Geo. Especially the personal stories and emotions got me. And the episode where they found the camps in Germany... so sad...
ruclips.net/p/PLQv7ILzUxt5bSCsMHSWgOPabB5s1t4P79&si=euajHVqooP4WJ7xQ
French airforce uses Fenec light helos with spec ops snipers for that kind of stuff m.ruclips.net/video/DxRPPGArqJI/видео.html (sorry, the video is by the French armed forces , so it's in French with no English subtitles, but you get the idea).
ranges involved for US War operations in the Taiwan strait is a HUGE problem. yup that would be a cluster fu(×
