Very excited to have this done! I forgot to mention, the 1in foam I used is not that great! 2in thick foam minimum IMO. I have plans here if you like more info on the bench build gumroad.com/diycreators. The next video for this series is the dipping attachment.
I am a fan of you Glen, I enjoyed your video. Yeah after sometime the 1in thick foam is going to be harmful, thanks for the info. I started my channel though we don't have enough woodworking supplies here in the middle East but I love it cuZ of you and other RUclipsrs. Thanks for sharing
i watcha lot of woodworking vids. Most people have tons of equipment , fancy extruded aluminum jigs, pristine workshops. Your videos are a breath of fresh air, showing you can do things by hand with local products. It's really inspiring and makes me really want to go out and actually make these projects. Thanks for the great vids
I got to thank you. I been watching your videos for a long time. Last week I got a chop saw, table saw, air compressor, brad nailer, some glue and bunch of clamps. Now; I have some experience with wood work but little did I know.... on Saturday I built my first project. It was a radiator cover. And I’m telling you! when my wife walked into the garage and saw all those clamps me working the wood.... by the time the cover was done she worked the wood more then me, if you know what I mean. Thanks
I have been a joiner for 5 years and have trained for 34 years. I have my own workshop and gym, but time to upgrade my beaten up bench. I have looked on RUclips past few months and yours is by far the best looking and best built bench on line. Should be proud of yourself, this is the one I may make but make it incline to.
I’m a personal trainer and most of my clients are women who can’t reach the floor on a standard bench. Rogue makes a short bench at 15” but it’s $300! You’ve inspired me to use all my scrap wood to build my own bench to my specifications. The pad is the most troublesome part 🤔
Glen..... you are the man!!! I came here to look at doing a new stronger bench for the one I purchased but did not hold up. I then noticed all the other stuff you built and I am TOTALLY insiped and impressed. I shared with my wife and we were both glued to your channel. You have some GREAT tips and you humbly reveal the challenges you expereince as well. Keep up the good work. We will be watching. Thank you for putting all this out. 👍
Good job Glen, it came out awesome. I love to see your “mistakes”, and fixes to the mistakes, as it reminds me there is always a solution to make it work out alright.
Another option for the cushion on the bench would be a yoga mat. A show on discovery UK layered one with glue then shaped it for a motorcycle. I think it would work really well on this. Good job!
Just discovered your videos this morning. I love your work. I've watched your gym series, we are a small gym owners (just starting), and your concrete outdoor bench, floating indoor bench and your concrete fire pit. What I love is your eye for detail, the finished quality of your projects and your detailed instructions. I've been wishing for someone like you and your videos for a very long time. You are fearless and creative. I'm excited to follow you on your building journey and be inspired.
Nice! This whole home gym build is amazing, you're a very talented woodworker, and that leather and foam turned out brilliantly. If anyone was thinking of building a home gym, so watch this video series first!
Very nice and clean looking bench. Outstanding presentation. You can also use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the vinyl around the round corners, it helps the elasticity of the materrial to shape into place before staples.
Appreciate throwing in the handsaw as not everyone trying to diy a home gym has all the tools that make the job easier. Awesome video by the way! Saw the power rack video as well, very cool build.
Outstanding! Very well done video. I really love the way you put inserts and overlays in the video to show where you're at in the total project, and that you used readily available materials and tools.
Really enjoyed this, thank you. Love the way you talk about your learnings on the project, things that didn't go 100% on reflection. Very honest, and very helpful.
Love your projects along with your videos that incorporates great production and clear explanations. The "where I'm at" feature is particularly good. One of the things I like best is that you're open as to what didn't come out right and your workaround fixes. Good stuff all around!
If you ever have the upholstery job to do again, leave the vinyl in the sun for a short time. It's a lot easier to work with when it's hot and when it cools it shrinks a tiny bit and makes things tighter.
Hi great vid and very useful. Regarding folding the material on the corners of the bench, a heat gun to heat the leatherwould help in moulding it around the corners to eliminate most creases. Ones that remain are minimal. Then it can be stapled. Ive had a similar problem recently and this method of heating it before folding it over really helped.
The best looking DIY workout bench on youtube. Awesome bench!! This will be the design I go with when I'm ready to build the workout space. Thanks for all the great DIY videos!
We appreciate you continuing these home gym series especially given current conditions. I would be interested in purchasing plans if you can incorporate a Cable Pulley System into the Power Rack.
a very nice build! When or if I build this I'd go with a 2" solid oak or equivalent hardwood bench top. A thick, non-padded type of bench top maximizes power transmission between the floor, the bench, you and the barbell.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Well done Glen! I'm planning to do this too. I'm trying to figure out how to make it adjustable to an incline, but your base plan is awesome!
Nice one Glen, I really enjoyed these builds. You did a great job and I liked seeing you learning about the upholstery. I don't know if you have already said, but I hope you do something for lat pull downs too. I made myself a hinged bench with pull downs from some timber I got from some demolition down my road. I even had to make the weights as you can't get them here right now. Doesn't look anywhere near as good as yours but it lives outside and seems to do the job. Thanks for sharing.
You might want to add a thicker foam at a later date, I used a similar size and when I did heavy bench sets the sides would dig into my back quite a bit. Great looking bench though !!
Love your videos. Glad to see your channel grow so quickly from just a few years ago. BTW you should adjust your bandsaw guide wheels.. that'll help prevent the blade drift you were seeing during the arch cuts. A sharp blade could also help. There's plenty of videos on YT for this.
I love making cushions for all my stuff, even though I’m not amazing at it, I love your channel and it inspired me to make one, but it’ll never be as good as yours!
You inspire me to be a better creator. I love your videos, your skills and style. Most of all I love how simple you explain things and show every step of the way. Keep building dude!
Hi Glen, I made your crosscut sled II a couple of years ago as a first woodworking project. You really inspired me and now I've got a full workshop set up in my garage including a lathe I was given (seriously fun if you can get hold of one!). Thank you for making all your videos so accessible and full of fun projects! I'm confused though... where are the LEDs on the workbench??? ;)
Hey Glen. I enjoy your video as always. If you don’t have thick enough foam you can glue them together to get the thickness you want. I used spray The adhesive when I ran into a similar issue.
To cover rounded ends, pull and staple the middle of the corner then bring the sides in like an envelope. Take off the excess in the rounded shape and secure.
Olá sou do Brazil. Que banco fantástico!!!! Um designer incrível. Parabéns pelo seu trabalho. É um sonho eu aprender a fazer esses trabalhos que você faz com tanta perfeição. Um abraço Antonio Correia Guarulhos/São Paulo/Brazil
a very well made video, and well explained. It seems easy enough. How about building a house and make a video series? No doubt you would be able to do it
Probably would go with a high density 1” foam with a 1/4” foam and Dacron. My tip to anyone would be center your foam and wood and glue them together with minimal glue and then upholster it
Thank you for sharing these great videos with us. I'd appreciate to see the making of a SEATED CALF RAISE MACHINE one day. Thanks and stay safe, you n your family.
Hi! Love your videos! I have a bit of experience with fabric and upholstery. I was taught the start in the middle and work to the ends and leave all corners for last. For rounded corners you want to make that very center part flat and then you can fold/pleat the extra fabric neatly. Man this was an excellent build tho, as usual!
Very excited to have this done! I forgot to mention, the 1in foam I used is not that great! 2in thick foam minimum IMO. I have plans here if you like more info on the bench build gumroad.com/diycreators. The next video for this series is the dipping attachment.
FYI - professional upholsterers always start in the middle of each side then work towards the ends.
This is awesome and here is my first project I want to show but cannot show you the picture here
Thanks for the heads up. 😆
I was thinking maybe that 1 inch foam wasn't thick enough but yes definitely the two inch. Great job overall!
I am a fan of you Glen, I enjoyed your video. Yeah after sometime the 1in thick foam is going to be harmful, thanks for the info.

just discovered this gem of a channel. 1st step buy sandpaper and wood glue, then binge every video. keep it up sir.
Man, you have really upped your production values from the "where I am" to the workout compilation. Really cool.
I got to thank you. I been watching your videos for a long time. Last week I got a chop saw, table saw, air compressor, brad nailer, some glue and bunch of clamps. Now; I have some experience with wood work but little did I know.... on Saturday I built my first project. It was a radiator cover. You leveled up on your studio lighting and backdrop for this one...looks awesome
Thanks, bro, not sure I upped it. Most of this I've been using for a while now.

your commitment to craftsmanship is commendable, easiest sub of the year
Nice! This whole home gym build is amazing, you're a very talented woodworker, and that leather and foam turned out brilliantly. If anyone was thinking of building a home gym, so watch this video series first!
This is my new favorite video of yours. No one dose it better than you. thanks for the inspiration my friend
You made a really nice job of the work out station and the bench. I’m impressed with your craftsmanship. Kudos 👍
Very nice and clean looking bench. Outstanding presentation. You can also use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the vinyl around the round corners, it helps the elasticity of the materrial to shape into place before staples.
Yesss. My favorite DIY youtuber is back😀😀 (btw you should make an house tour
, i would love to see you house and your creations)
Watching this as I finished building my new Marcy SB-350 bench. Great job bud! Greatest builder ever!
Leveling feet are good because not many floors are even either! Love you style. Good work!
Yes they really helps.
My guy!
Glad to see more content from you!
Well spoken, engaging presentation, practical application
Appreciate throwing in the handsaw as not everyone trying to diy a home gym has all the tools that make the job easier.
Awesome video by the way! Saw the power rack video as well, very cool build.
I like your''where i'm at '' input in the video illustrating the exact part you working on in highlight, well done overall thanks for the share
Dude's an absolute perfectionist!Got feeling i should build my own set-up at home...RESPECT
The best looking GYM bench I've seen thus far. You are very creative with woodworking. Keep it up great video.

Thank you I have to try that.
One of the best looking diy benches I've seen on youtube. Subbed.
The best looking DIY workout bench on youtube. Awesome bench!! This will be the design I go with when I'm ready to build the workout space. Thanks for all the great DIY videos!
Great way to add the illustrations as you build! That makes soooo much sense!
You got crazy talent. Good shit bro. Im buying my 2nd house and i want to make an apartment in the basement and im learning a lot through your channel
You deserve your 2.26 mil subscribers. The work, the dedication. Just Great🙌
We appreciate you continuing these home gym series especially given current conditions. I would be interested in purchasing plans if you can incorporate a Cable Pulley System into the Power Rack.
This is very creative and he can use whatever he has on hand like disposable cup 👍💪
This is SUPER nice and stylish! I don't have the tools or experience to build this, but would definitely buy this if I see it in a store. Great work!!
These videos are made with so much heart
Best looking workout bench I’ve seen! Can’t wait to build mine. You’ve been blessed with a great talent.
would love to see your take at diy weights or a pulley weight system.
Clever design. Your a great teacher. Very well explained. Thank You
Nice upholstery job there! Round corners are always a challenge to get it right but you did very well!
Thanks, I think I learn a few things along the way
D U D E. You have seriously stepped up your game when it comes to designing. Awesome job.
I love that everything needed is in the description.
a very nice build! When or if I build this I'd go with a 2" solid oak or equivalent hardwood bench top. A thick, non-padded type of bench top maximizes power transmission between the floor, the bench, you and the barbell.
This series is just awesome 👌👌
Very nice, very nice. Love the woodworking. You are very good at it.
I probably will never make this since I don't have the equipment but I love watching these!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Well done Glen! I'm planning to do this too. I'm trying to figure out how to make it adjustable to an incline, but your base plan is awesome!
You go over to this guy's house and ask him "Show me something you have built." He answers "Yes"
😂
Looks at house
I've following your channel for while and just wanted to drop a and say you do amazing work! This is one of my favourite DIY channels!
Thanks, much appreciated!
You make nice and creative furniture and a excellent teacher.
10:00 A trick I learned from stretching paintings, is to work from the middle of an edge outside. That way you wont end up with creases as quickly.
Do you have a table saw? You could make a lot of those cuts, like chiseling out the notch in the feet, with a table saw.
Nice one Glen, I really enjoyed these builds. You did a great job and I liked seeing you learning about the upholstery. I don't know if you have already said, but I hope you do something for lat pull downs too. I made myself a hinged bench with pull downs from some timber I got from some demolition down my road. Super nice bench. The squat rack was awesome too. Now I just need you to build an incline/decline bench and somehow a lat pull down and I’m all set. 😃
You might want to add a thicker foam at a later date, I used a similar size and when I did heavy bench sets the sides would dig into my back quite a bit. Great looking bench though !!
WHOS THE BEST?!? Awesome!!!Thanks for share Man...fan from Brazil

Yes! So excited for this project. Brilliant builds, great content, full of awesome tips and advice - keep it up! Always appreciated
Idk what it is about your voice but it’s interesting to listen to and love the builds!
Beautifully built , awesome bench
I definitely gonna build this
But can we add some weight holder here? To hold the barbell?
I was hoping it would have adjustable incline, that would have taken it to the next level. Excellent work bud!
Wow Glen you really put style into your builds. I'll be checking your channel frequently
Keep killing it like you always do mate.
Thanks
Wow nice looking bench. Love the contrast
Sei bravissimo ! Come si dice da noi in Italia , hai una marcia in più. Grande
Nice Bench ... definitely looks better than my store bought one
You're a beast!!!! that gym is dope...love this channel..keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your gift.
If you are building this, you SHOULD do it all hand-tools. Good workout!
for a first upholstery project this came out great!
What a beautiful design. Well engineered and fabricated too! Mahalo for sharing! : )
Thank you 😀
Adjustable bench please. Looking forward to it. More power to your channel!
you can make a detachable and ajustable back rest with a tong and groove design on a cog or move like an elbow design
Really nice looking bench, I will build one based on this before anything else.
Great Job Brotha Glen. You did this very well and it looks solid and well thought out. Thank you for putting this content together brotha.
To cover rounded ends, pull and staple the middle of the corner then bring the sides in like an envelope. Take off the excess in the rounded shape and secure.

Absolutely perfect Glenn!
Your attention to detail is pretty amazing... that's why your whole gym set up looks and works fantastic!
I’m an upholsterer and those corners you did made me cringe. Proud of you doing it and it still looks great!
Probably would go with a high density 1” foam with a 1/4” foam and Dacron.
My tip to anyone would be center your foam and wood and glue them together with minimal glue and then upholster it
You are the best my brother and I am going to watch every Video
Always enjoying your work 👍
Thank you for sharing these great videos with us. I'd appreciate to see the making of a SEATED CALF RAISE MACHINE one day. Thanks and stay safe, you n your family.
Very good wood work keep it up Mike
Rashad evans..excelente trabajo.. 💪🏼💪🏼
“I’m looking forward to getting better at this” is my new most favorite quote 😂
