Olivia Newton John was my first concert I ever went to when I was 13. I was in love with her (as a young gay boy would be. Ha!) She was truly an angel. So beautiful, classy, and beloved. This was the short hair/head band era. She has an amazing voice, and doesn't get the credit she should have for that. Her Physical video was one of the biggest songs of the 80s. She is one of those people like Tina Turner who was beloved by all and exuded such goodness. Glad you pulled this one out of the hat!
Please, please, please follow this up with "Twist of Fate" by the sainted Olivia Newton-John. It's an absolute banger. Her whole 70s and 80s catalog is full of winners though.
As an 11 year old I was a big fan of Grease and of course John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. After that I loved all the songs Olivia did, like this one. Childhood heroin....May she rest in power X LJ
Yes, Magic and Twist of Fate are both great songs to check out. But you've got to do Xanadu if you haven't already. That's Olivia singing with Electric Light Orchestra playing. Sublime.
Love Love Olivia Newton-John! Great reaction ... try "Magic" next, if you haven't heard it yet. there is a nice live performance (midnight special) that's good.
Okay, since you like her high notes and they remind you of Dolly, I have two recommendations for you: first, Olivia's live version of Jolene from 1982 for the REALLY HIGH notes, or Olivia's duet of Jolene with Dolly Parton just released this year (Olivia's last recording).
I didn't think I knew this video, but as soon as I saw that outfit I remembered, wow! Stunning. Yeah, you could tell they amped up the cheese factor for the video for fun, I particularly enjoyed the theatrics from the keyboard player 😂 Fun time as always, thank you. ❤
Hadn't heard this in forever, and was surprised for its sound and feel how "early" it came out! Maybe next try her amazing live "Hopelessly Devoted to You" from Amsterdam '78?
Loved Olivia! Finally saw her in concert about 10 years ago, and she sounded amazing live. She started out as a country singer and then turned pop, sort of like Taylor's Swift's more recent evolution. You might like Olivia's country hits "Have You Never Been Mellow?" (a 1975 No. 1 country and pop ballad) and "Let Me Be There" (1973), and her pop songs "Deeper Than the Night" (1979) and "Magic" (No. 1 pop hit in 1980 ... the video performance where she's wearing the white fringed cowgirl short-shorts outfit and white cowboy boots. She looks absolutely stunning!!! 🙂)
wow!!!! shés definitely one of my idols...she´s got SO MANY great songs!!!! really good to know you've enjoyed this..... try listening to: SAM,MAKE A MOVE ON ME,THE RUMOUR,,COME ON OVER,CARRIED AWAY....etc,etc,etc...thanks!!!
I am glad you are covering ONJ - she was one of my favorite singers growing up. She started with country music before pop. I love this song - one tidbit about this song/video: the song was a hit at the end of 1978/beginning of 1979, but this video was made a few years later (hence her "Physical" hair style). So many great songs to choose from - my favorite is "Magic," which is from the movie "Xanadu." The title track which she sings with ELO is also terrific and has a very fun video (and she hits some very high notes).
I love ONJ!! Yes, she and Dolly are both sopranos with power and range. Both with very different, unique voices. ONJ has perfect pitch and often provides all the harmonies on her recordings (with that range she can harmonize the lows and the highs). All the vocals on this track are her own. Please react to more Olivia. Try "Sam" or "Jolene" live from her 1982 concert. Also, "Twist of Fate" and "Landslide" where she does that harmonizing with herself so brilliantly. Thanks!
One of my favorites of hers but Magic is my favorite.
One of my favourite ONJ songs. She has such a beautiful vocal range and she was a stunner. RIP, Olivia

More Olivia: Have You Never Been Mellow, I Honestly Love You, Make A Move On Me, Magic, Xanadu, & Twist of Fate
Please, please, please follow this up with "Twist of Fate" by the sainted Olivia Newton-John. It's an absolute banger.

Yep definite banger with a suitably cheesy video to go with it too. 😂😂

All my faves too!
LOVE this song! I have this album on vinyl and bought it brand new when it came out in the 80's
Beautiful woman with a soft, light voice and sustained vibrato.
'Sandy' has all grown up😮😊
I love that you're jumping on all the Australian pop artists lately! Thanks for showing our countries artists some love. ;)
My pleasure! ♥️🇦🇺
When I was a kid I had this cassette. That sure ages me!
My crush for a lot of years, just a sweetheart
Love Love Olivia Newton-John! Great reaction ... try "Magic" next, if you haven't heard it yet. there is a nice live performance (midnight special) that's good.
Magic, from Xanadu soundtrack which has other great ones from her and ELO. No disappointment there!!

Make a Move on Me is infectious and another fabulous video
I'd forgotten this one. (I’d forgotten I was old enough to remember it. It’s me age.) Good innit?
Oh hell yeah, that outfit.
She made 4 specials for US TV, one of them has her performing with Abba and Barry Gibb.
That voice! That beautiful face! ❤️❤️🔥🔥
One of my fav songs of her ❤

Lol that’s the classic 80s music video head turn. I practiced it in front of my mirror many times.

Love your ONJ reactions such an iconic part of my teens
That keyboardist tho......the theatrics 😂😂❤
😂
The most beautiful woman ever
Oh Oliva...that voice, that charisma.
For your next reaction I would recommend "Xanadu" or "Twist of Fate".
Those backing singers are only there for the video. Olivia is doing the harmony
Prob my favorite by her in her rocking pop phase. Fav country rock is Have You Never Been Mellow?
You need to do "Magic". It's one of her best songs. Same era as this one, only better... IMO.

that looks like the guitarist from Little River Band
Notice the guy on the keyboard?
Please try her best song ever called Magic.
Wait where's the let's get physical reaction!? I'd love to see it!
I had to take it down because copyright issues, sorry!
@PancakeMarshmallowDude thank god for that 😅😅
ONJ Forever❤
