George practiced everyday for one week with the band to perfect this song. The other performers practiced one day. That was George Michael the perfectionist.
He wanted to do his inspiration proud... Performing '39, Somebody To Love and These Are The Days Of Our Lives were the proudest moments of his career, as he said
He also said he knew this would probably be the last performance that Anselmo was able to see, that this was his "loudest prayer" ---from his autobiography
George delivered one of the most powerful performances in music history at the freddie mercury tribute show. George has sold over 70 million albums world-wide. There is no denial that george is one of the most talented artists ever. He wrote Careless Whispers when he was 17 and now it has become one of the best romance songs of all time!
This post is from 12 years ago and can you imagine by the time he died he sold 115 million records in his lifetime. He's still the youngest recipient of the Ivor novello award for writing Careless Whisper at the age of 17. He still holds that record. He's also the highest paid performer to perform at a private event. He was paid 3 million pounds for an hour's worth of work. An off the top of my head his album older released six singles that went into the top three. No other artist I believe has had that. He is one amazing artist. Love him, my favorite
George's singing is just incredible in every way. Not only did he do an excellent rendition even here in rehearsal, it looks like he's ready to walk off to a modeling shoot. GM was Perfection inside and out and he always made it look like it was so effortless! Missed is an understatement....

Jennifer Brigitte, what a beautiful thought. I'm so tired of the hatred. Some need to go back to church. The way I look at it is there is ONLY 1 person to judge and that's Jesus Christ. So if you're initials aren't J.C., you need to take your ugly, evil head somewhere else who gives a damn of your opinion.
Even though George Michael started out as just another '80s pop star, he earned the respect of the old-guard greats like Bowie, Queen, Elton John, etc. He was just undeniably talented, and his performance was the highlight of the concert. Even the rehearsal was great!
Awesome, George singing Freddie's song with Bowie watching. That is a fucking piece of the history. RIP Freddie, George and David without you music is empty.
I remember seeing him sing this at Freddie's tribute. I thought he nailed it then, and still think it was one of his best live performances. RIP my man.

@LuisGarcia. You mean in the film, yes. Not the same as having to perform in front of 80,000 people in a tribute concert for a legend who has recently died.
I remember the tribute to Freddie. Freddie had such a unique and powerful voice that many that tried were just awful with his songs. One of the exceptions was George, he killed it.
