He was doing the march of the Black Queen

If Freddie saw him sing for his tribute he would be proud of what he has achieved.

@@fendi-bull8167 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂👌
You talk like Freddie was some underground indie artist. Whilst I agree Led Zeppelin is legendary, Queen are not some underground band either. Queen are a mainstream rock act, and, dare I say this, more popular than LZ. I love both bands equally, but saying things like 'Freddie would be proud of what he has achieved' is undermining how popular he really was.
Sure!!!!
Плант был задолго до Queen
Freddie Mercury and Robert Plant are the two most iconic singers Great Britain has produced since John and Paul.
Yet Freddie is really in a class by himself as a singer/entertainer.
Steve Marriott
Freddie and Robert are so far ahead of Paul and John its like asking , who run second? , no one cares.
You have to put Mick Jagger in the same camp. Everybody knows Mick Jagger’s voice that’s a very , iconic voice.
I guess I may be totally alone here, but I happen to think that Freddie, Bob, and Jimmy were far above John and Paul. Yet, that’s just me and imho. However, I’m always the lone “not really a Beatles fan, more of an Elvis, B.B., Chuck, and JLL fan”. Again, just me, not to diminish anything The Beatles accomplished, but if given the choice, I’d much rather jam to Led Zep. 🤷🏻♀️
Robert Plant singing one of Queen’s best songs. How can anyone dislike this!
I mean even Robert didn’t like his own performance. I think he did okay tho.
I think it's from people who didn't know Robert plant
I mean, Robert Planr is Robert Plant, but Freddie Mercury WAS Freddie Mercury!!!
I remember watching this broadcast on Muchmusic that day!! What a massive event for music fans!
I think Plant did a decent job of this!👍
In this case is good. Probably the same people that are still más with his Innuendo performance. I don't know

This must have been in 91..the tribute for Freddie. Robert was awesome as ever, it made the song his own!!
@@cherylthompson2731 20th april 92'
Plant payed perfect homage to Freddie with this rendition. He didn't try to steal any spotlight and make it about himself. He sung it the way he normally would in his own voice. Very classy of him and the band.
Exactly!
And he had a bad flu that day
I disagree, though he was under valued his performance, especially with that crowd, cmon.Freddiw would be disappointed.
@@youbfit2 And I disagree with that. I think the 1.1K thumbs up I got would heartedly agree with me.😁
Absolutely.
The fact that Queen uses Led Zeppelin as their inspiration during their early years and then performing with Plant is just amazing to me
When did Queen use Zeppelin as an inspiration?
Keetonplace,
Are you serious? Freddie said Robert Plant was his favourite singer, Roger said John Bonham was his favourite drummer and the best, and Brian is always praising Jimmy Page.
In the early days the press thought Queen were just a Led Zeppelin wannabe band. Innuendo is a complete homage to Kashmir.
@@keetonplace when led zeppelin practically invented rock
@@keetonplace Zeppelin are Queen's godfathers. They influenced the entire 70s rock scene, and damn near every band that came after

When Led Zeppelin was created the world was blessed. We are blessed that Robert Plant is still with us.

If the lead singer of a monstrous, legendary rock band called Led Zeppelin comes to pay tribute by singing one of your songs, then you've made an indelible mark in rock music. You'll never be forgotten, Mr. Mercury!
Bh Heavner h
Notice how nobody else did that? That's because it's a tribute to FREDDIE MERCURY not a tribute to Robert Plant.
Jason Heavner You've made me cry 😥
+Cindy Holmes +Serzh Doom But I was speaking from the standpoint of seniority. Led Zeppelin came before Queen (even though it was only by three or so years) and also Zeppelin was more hard rock, Queen was of a more operatic and progressive tone. Still they're legends in their own right, but when the most emulated rock vocalist of all time pays homage to Freddie Mercury who, in my book, is one of the most underrated vocalists of all time, I just think that speaks volumes. It's mad respect on Plant's part that he was a part of this concert.
Jason Heavner Mercury underrated?? Which planet r you from?
John Deacon was really underrated as a bass player because he made it look so easy. Fantastic musician, as important to Queen as the other 3.
Always so focused
John Paul Jones in LZ: a bit of the same

What I love about Plant, he still always maintain his original style, and he's singing Queen songs. He was able to sing it in his fashion. And I really love his version as well.
I agree and I don't mean Robert Plant any disrespect in the slightest but if you watch this whole show, all the guests did Queen songs that sounded like their own style. Crazy Little Thing could have been a Honey Drippers song if we are honest so it was a perfect choice for him to sing it. It really is a tribute to the people who matched it all up, and of course to Queen and ultimately Freddie who needed 20 or so musical masters to cover his repertoire. Plant did a fine job even if it wasn't a huge stylistic stretch. It wasn't meant to be. This was Freddie's day...the songs were meant to conjure his memory. And he did it perfectly.
You nailed it.
OMG. Gods meeting! Robert honoring Freddie with the song Mercury wrote as a tribute to Elvis. Amazing and iconic moment. I kind of LOVE it
There aren't many people who could step into Freddie Mercury's shoes and pull this off. Robert Plant is one of those few. Great job!

He was the youngest member of the band and extremely shy. Freddy took him under his wing and looked out for him. According to Brian and Roger, John was devastated when Freddy died.

Vern Hoke They all were! They loved Freddie regardless of any negative comments. Yes, Deacon was hit really bad but they all loved Freddie! I mean. Really! As Freddie would say...
Great Great Great bass player.
A legend honoring another legend. Respect!
Why is everyone arguing? Obviously this is a Queen song so OBVIOUSLY the best version is with Mercury. If Mercury ever performed a Led Zeppelin song, it’s would not be NEAR as good as Plant singing it himself. What An amazing performance by Plant here!
They did. Immigrant song at Wembley. It showed what an exceptional vocalist plant is
@@scottmcqueen2893 they played the immigrant Song in Berlin 86 and not in Wembley sorry for my bad englich.
Somebody gets it!!! No point in comparing. It's not comparable really. No other band has been really successful doing Led Zeppelin songs well.
I totally agree 😉
Robert Plant and Freddie met one night and they both went to Freddie's home and talked for hours, about every thing they could think of. He really admired Freddie and wished he'd had time to get to know him better.
Also, who is that IDIOT who keeps laughing at Robert Plant and saying he's gay. Obviously someone who knows nothing about Plant. He and his wife have been married since they were 20. They traveled all over together. When they started having children (they had 6) she stayed home with them. They lost a son, which devastated them both. But she understood his need to travel and learn other kinds of music. She kept the home-fires burning in the lovely home he provided for them and he goes home as often as he can. He loves his wife and adores his children, who are now all grown. He is not gay, and even if he was, what is your problem? Sounds to me like YOU are the one who's in the closet.
3:36 everyone saying ready Freddie gave me goosebumps
The only person I trust to sing Freddie's songs besides another member of Queen. Robert's voice is so smooth and clear whenevr he sings, he just has so much rythym and no matter how he puts a twist to something he makes it sound like it was meant to sound that way. He is a legend.
George Michael sang an amazing cover of ‘Somebody to love’ at the tribute too. You should check it out it’s fabulous

Robert Plant. Greatest living frontman after Freddy died, performing for his fellow legend. It is so sweet.

With all due respect, i know Robert beats him at singing, but I think as a frontman I would put Mick Jagger up against anyone. Also (in his prime) Roger Daltrey.

I can feel Brian, John and Roger crying. A very touchable spirit.
I always loved Deaky so much. He's just casually walking up and down the stage, doing an amazing job while not giving a single fucking, ha.
lol...so true.
The bass is the foundation of this song defs.
It’s clear he misses Freddie!
That’s all bass players are good for
I agree generally speaking but he looks pretty distraught here
Just plain, honest, handmade music! No autotune, no overdubs, no DJ, no light speed metal shredding, no fire fountains….just pure and joyful music! Great!
Those, "OOOhhhhhhh , yeaahhhh" at the end is soooo mind-blowing. A signature Robert Plant sound from Led Zep in a Queen song. Simply mind-blowing. Yes, you are "incomparable" Robert Plant. He's so humble that he didn't even linger on stage. He's so self-aware that this was for Freddie, Queen, and their charity.

John Deacon's Sad Face, Roger Taylor wearing the "Glasses" to hide his Tears and the Gloomy Shaking Guitar play by Brian May, showed the True Love they all had and "still have" for their Friend, Brother and the Greatest Front-Man - Freddie Mercury. Guess, that's ONE LOVE to be inspired with. Freddie - You are watching from above - "The Show (Must) Will Go On".
I also noticed that Brian's solo sounds so gloomy
FreakyPH It’s noticeable in the bohemian rhapsody solo. He has less gain and less sustain, and more chorus, and it sounds almost shaky.
Wasn’t even 5 months since Freddie’s passing. This whole event would have taken an extraordinary amount of effort to pull off. Meaning... the guys hadn’t even begun to grieve. This must have been so hard!!! x

Agreed. 1A and 1B....you choose. Paul Rodgers is next after those two for me. For the record my favorite band is Zep so you know my choice for 1A...but I never argue with a person who says Freddie is number 1.
My favorite part of this is after Plant sings "because" and Brian starts the beginning strums of Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and the crowd breaks into applause, watch Roger's face. It absolutely LIGHTS UP in this ear splitting teeth showing grin. I love it every time I watch it.
"Thankyou" No Because
Robert Plant doing Freddie Mercury ? I had my doubts , but he really nails it !!! A respectful tribute by one mega talent for another .
I knew as soon as I saw the video title, this would be good. This song was Freddie channeling Elvis. Plant did that on a track from Zep's last studio album, _In Through The Out Door._ Here it is: ruclips.net/video/QOLTwt-bqoU/видео.html
the fact that they sang ”ready freddie” three times as loud as possible is so sweet but yet makes me sad
Very unpopular opinion, but this will forever be my favourite version of that song, especially since it begins with the incomperable "If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you" sung by one of the greatest voices in modern music history.
Ps Robert Plant has a much richer vintage RNB - classic rock & roll tone to his voice, that revives the song to the place where it truly belongs.
I love that he sang the "Ready Freddie?" 3 times and I love even more Brian singing it from the top of his heart at 3:39

Robert was doing that move before Freddie
He was doing that long before Freddie. Freddie made it iconic.
Damn I'm just thinking about how lucky the audience is to be present there. Hell of a concert.
It's gonna be very difficult to see something like this again, I doubt it too much.. this was incredible and perfect, I'm really sure the Freddie tribute in 1992, maybe was one of the most important event all times, just talking about a massive rock concert.
it was a great event... an I was there
Oh man really?, you're a lucky guy!, I congratulate to you a lot.
Yes it was. The George Harrison tribute concert was pretty special to if you haven't seen it, I can recommend it. Can't understand why something on this scale couldn't have been done for Bowie.
Never have I seen better audience than there.... Wish I could be there. Wish even more that this never happened but Freddie was a 73-year rocking mustached queen destroying stadiums nowadays. Aaaah, dreams....
Yanslee Freddie would probably be bald with an eyebrow ring today 😂. He was starting to lose his hair in the mid 80’s. You could see a bald spot forming on the top of his head during live aid.
I really love that they started it with “Thank You”. That was a really beautiful intro!
Queen and Led Zeppelin are so similar in a way. Both legendary bands who's songs are as relevant today as when they were released. Bands that consisted of four extremely talented individuals, who lost an irreplaceable member and that ended the band. In fact, the four of both bands were so connected musically and even as friends (in Queen), that any other member wouldn't have done it. It was either those four or the band was over. Also in both bands their bassists were underappreciated, yet contributed as much as the rest three. Robert Plant singing live with Queen was something very special. It wasn't just another frontman star singing with them. Something happened, there was a strong chemistry there. Amazing rendition, loved it!
