When Avacyn became evil, they Nerfed her sooo much. I was kinda confused. But then I looked at some of the other cards of her and remembered a small WoG: Avacyn gets stronger the more humanity needs her. When she was released from the Helvault she was an 8/8 flier with vigilance who made every permanent you control(herself included) invulnerable for as long as she was around. Later, she was a 4/4 flier with the same effect, but it only lasted for the turn she was summoned. Kinda makes sense that a being who's power is linked to helping people would be weakened if she turned against them.
To be devil's advocate here. This corruption happened outside of Sorin's control, because Sorin was searching for Ugin at the time when multiple walkers decided to muck around on Innistrad during this absence.
That was an EXCELLENT Story!! I would LOVE to see this as an Adventure game to discover what the heck is the foundation of all that went wrong here in Innistrad
Prediction here: So the spoiled card Warped Landscape has the flavor text "Each cryptolith twists the plane's mana, bending its flow to a singular purpose." Nahiri is clearly making these weird cryptoliths. Her ultimate purpose is to call Emrakul to Innistrad for revenge over Markov. War against Emrakul will be in the set Eldritch moon.
+William Shabecoff I think you were right until you mentioned Emrakul. My gues is that the purpose of the cryptolith is to turn Avacyn Evil and possibly corrupt Innistrad in other ways.
+Emil Romin In yesterday's uncharted realms Avacyn was already burning villages with her angel friends. I feel like that is too obvious a purpose of the cryptoliths. Lahiri must have a greater scheme than just corrupting Avacyn. We'll see how it plays out.
William Shabecoff I agree the purpose to turn Avacyn evil is a little obvious but they could do other things too. I just think Emrakul would be sort of lame back to back with BFZ block. Emrakul will have bigger impact on us fans later.
+William Shabecoff she was burning villiages after she saw the a brief vision of the hedron network and she started hearing a different voice saying humans are evil and how is that not sweet sweet revenge against sorin using the construct he created to protect humans to keep his kind from killing each other to wiping out their food supply.
That actually retroactively explains precisely how Nahiri corrupted Avacyn. She's a god- that is a being composed of mana, powered by faith, and intimately tied to her plane. Nissa once manipulated a god by manipulating the mana of its plane. Clearly, this is the same deal.
+Fearl Avacyn was the angel created by Sorin to protect the dwellers of the plain of Innistrad, after a fight with the demon Griselband they both were caught within the Helbound (a prison that could hold their fight). During the time they both were caught inside darkness took over Innistrad, placing humanity agains the wall. It was needed an act of heroism by the young cathar Thalia to free Avacyn and bring balance to Innistrad. -Watch "Avacyn Restored Trailer"- But now the balance once brought by her has now been broken by an unknown force. Only figuring out the clues left behind is how we can figure out the responsible. -Also read the magic Storyline on mtg's page or search for SOI spoilers for more information-
+seel114 no its nahari's doing go look at the cards warped landscape also sturctural distortion she is making some sort of lith's directing the plane's mana it is affecting avacyn some how also new planeswalker werewolf hype.
Grayson Christian Tamiyo is on the plane if you look at the anguished unmaking playmat they are in the cornor watching sorin kill avacyn she will probably show up in the eldritch moon set as a card
+jliller That reference is actually accurate in this case, as the mechanic named _Madness_ actually makes a return in Innistrad. The comparison even works somewhat from a flavor perspective, as Madness can be played when you'd have to discard that card, and discarding is a bit like throwing something down a hole :P
I like how Jace thinks he will descend into madness. He won't, but it is good that they make it think that he will. I've played the campaign for Shadows over Innistrad on Magic Duels, and I enjoyed it. It was a solid game.
+James Downs I was hoping that Emmy was going to make an apearance. We need a five color Eldrazi legend with Devoid to tie together all the new Eldrazi stuff. Still, there might be hope, maybe it's Emmy's influence that drove Avacyn mad with rage, and led Nahiri on a vampire killing spree, partly trying to get at Sorin and partly because of how the vampires she knew were servants of the Eldrazi.
+Joshua Gannon From the theories I'd heard, Sorin had used Nahiri in some fashion to create Avacyn. If that's true, a freed Nahiri is easily explained as being on a rage-induced murder spree for not being able to help Zendikar and decides to make Innistrad suffer as a result. I think we'll see R/W Nahiri PW.
KirkofPatrick I can see the new Nahiri being R/W too, but vengeance and self-righteous fury are in flavor with the more extreme or more darker side of White, so we could see an evil White character which is rare, with previous examples being Kamigawa's Lord Konda and New Phyrexia's Elesh Norn, so it is possible that the Nahiri could be mono-white. In either case, we'll find out when we find out.
+Joshua Gannon I almost wonder if Nahiri went silly and bound Emmy to the moon. Notice how the "webs of madness" look kinda like her flesh lattices. Also, the presence of those pointy stone structures, I am guessing they may be called cryptoliths. After all, she would have to deal with one eldrazi compared to the original 3 she had to bind, and the moon with its containment properties showed in the Helvault may have substantially eased her binding of Emmy.
Who knows, perhaps that's where Tamiyo is as well. Tamiyo, watching over the moon-imprisoned Emreakul while Nahiri seeks out Sorin. All the while Emrakul's influence seeps out stengthening the moon's influence over curses such as lycanthropy, and who knows what else.. Perhaps in the second set we'll find a shattered moon over Innistrad and Tamiyo, Nahiri, Jace, and Sorin have to deal with the enraged Emrakul on top of all the other bad stuff happening on Innistrad.
I want to say some form of madness took over and corrupted her after. probably something like a demon who also holds a part of illiana's soul. also I don't think Jace is gonna make it out fully intact either. I know we have one black/blue planeswalker but still...
+shadowwolf She spent years in the Hellvault. Maybe that did something. Also Nahiri is on Innistrad, perhaps she is messing with the moon to alter Sorin's creation out of spite. In addition, I don't think Jace is going anywhere. He just joined the Gatewatch and is Magic's poster boy. He's probably "somewhat" safe.
+Aron the ultimate hero Yeah Jace is probably gonna be ok but I never considered the hellvault as an option for the madness. Nihiri on the other hand I think she may have something more straight forward planned altgough I am not gonna rule your moon theory out by any means.
I'm so excited for this set. I first started playing between the releases of Innistrad and Dark Ascension, so this block really feels like I'm returning home.
I just had back surgery so i missed the prerelease. wont be able to play for a.while and probably will miss the whole set. I was looking forward too this one tough... :-(
Ah, FINALLY! The set I've been waiting for to happen is here! Avacyn has finally come of age, and now that she's starting to have menstrual cycles it's time for her to channel her inner teenage angst. Hell hath no fury like a woman on her period!
avacyn: why were you gone so long? sorrin: I was saving other worlds from cosmic horror avacyn: you could have at least called! and who is this nahiri bitch sorrin; shit
To anyone who is wondering, avacyn has been leaked. I don't remember cost but she is white, flying, vigilance, flash, when she enters, creatures you control are indestructible until end of turn. when a non-angel creature you control dies, flip her on the next upkeep. Flip side is red, when she is flipped she deals 3 to every opponent and creatures they control, still flying, not sure if she keeps vigilance. 4/4 white side, 6/5 red side
+The00Devils00Seraph Unless Emrakul can pull off a eldritch horror theme perfectly I do not want her here. Too out of place. Bit weird that jace happens to visit after battling the other titans and the third one happens to be there too. There are way too many planes for that.
I really feel like this horror that Jace is referring to is Emrakul. It just makes sense, i mean this set was meant to be the third set in the Battle for Zendikar block (because they were designing it before the change in how blocks work); she is the only Eldrazi titan left and Ugin did say that he didn't know what would happen if they killed the two Eldrazi titans (since there is one left), maybe hinting at her being even more powerful; you can kind of see the form of Emrakul in the trailer; the trailer mentions that the horror would consume Innistrad (sound familiar in an Elrdazi way? You know consuming planes and all that); the whole lovecraftian theme of the block (with Shadows over innistrad and Eldritch moon); and there are many more theories for why this could mean Emrakul is returning. But then again i doubt she will be in the first set, i feel like this whole sets goal would be to introduce the plot and make people guess what is causing all of this corruption and the second set will be the one where we are shown the horror and they will have to deal with it. Also just think of the names of the sets "Shadows over Innistrad" really makes it seem like the set will be foreshadowing the horror, this is especially true with the whole sets clue theme, and "Eldritch Moon" - what do you think that moon is? Just bear in mind this is all speculation and it could be completely wrong, but this is just one of the most likely theories that we have heard of so far.
I think this would have been an AMAZING movie if theu made it 🎥 I wish they did.. and why wouldn't they?! THERE'S NO WORD FOR HOW GOOD THIS IS AND WOULD HAVE BEEN.. 😔😟
matunos read the spoilers and lore, nahiri is pissed off that sorin abandoned zendikar, and she's gonna and I quote "make innistrad bleed like zendikar"by basically first warping Markov manor, and then making things (all I remember is that they start with the letter c), to affect the moon.
I get the feeling that Nahiri used her abilities to mess with Innistrad's moon. After all most of the magic on the plane seems to tie into it in one form or another, its why Tamiyo was studying it in the first place and would explain why Jace is looking through her work. Nahiri screws with the moon, therefor it messes with Ayacyn and thus all the magic tied into both. That's my guess anyway.
+Mr.Northwind I suspect something like that, but as far as we know, Nahiri is only responsible for destroying Sorin's home. I can't say she's to blame for the trouble with the moon. Honestly, I have a feeling that we might see some hints that Nahiri has trapped Emerakul on Innistrad, over her being the sole responsible person. We wouldn't even see Nahiri in this set if she was responsible.
Innistrad's moon is made from the same material as the Helvault, and also plays an integral role in the plot of the following expansion, 'Eldritch Moon'.
+Brit Baumstein (Britbau) Probably not. You saw what happend on zendikar. 2 of the greatest Eldrazi "Gods", titans so powerful, were both killed in the battle against the gatewatch and none planeswalkers, not Even Kiora, were killed.
When Avacyn became evil, they Nerfed her sooo much. I was kinda confused. But then I looked at some of the other cards of her and remembered a small WoG: Avacyn gets stronger the more humanity needs her. Once again, Detective Jace is on the case!
^w^
+Moon Mover What's this "Once again" you speak of?
+Vaerthelmn 52 Jace went and investigate the Dragon's Maze, then the Eye of Ugin and now Innistrad
+Vaerthelmn 52 Maybe the "once again" because Jace litterally has been in the last two sets and it's starting to become monotomous
+C. M. Müller He has been in the story a lot, but this is the sort of thing that Jace is good for, solving puzzles and following clues, not fighting.
What a horrible night to have a curse.

Matej Horvat Close, but no cigar. Castlevania.

I would love to see RPG game made about MTG universe where you play as planeswalker, that would be so awesome.

Good news, they've finally made one.

4/4 white side, 6/5 red side
00:45 is that a big, shadowy, Emrakrul form I see? I do hope so
+The00Devils00Seraph Unless Emrakul can pull off a eldritch horror theme perfectly I do not want her here. Too out of place. Bit weird that jace happens to visit after battling the other titans and the third one happens to be there too. There are way too many planes for that.
+Charnel She's the Titan of corruption, wouldn't surprise me he corrupts the most powerful beings.
***** That isn't why he set off for innistrad
***** Jace: "I'll go to Innistrad and find Sorin. I'm not sure he'll be more help than Ugin has been, but he can't be much less.""

On one hand, this trailer is really awesome. On the other, I really liked Innistrad and now its rubble.
Tamiyo read the Latin. Outloud.
I'd be surprised if it was Kamigawa affecting Innistrad, but I hope it's Kamigawa affecting Innistrad
Nothing to see here, just Emrakul doing his thing
*her
I like how the name itself is a teaser to the following set and the work it was inspired off of
Eww, is that what Jace sounds like?
I don't like it either :/
I thought it was badass
I thought it was perfect! He sounds exactly like I always thought he did.
he sounded great bro
+Simone Mularkey This was literally the voice in my head for him.
+Mr.Northwind
I suspect something like that, but as far as we know, Nahiri is only responsible for destroying Sorin's home. I can't say she's to blame for the trouble with the moon. Honestly, I have a feeling that we might see some hints that Nahiri has trapped Emerakul on Innistrad, over her being the sole responsible person. We wouldn't even see Nahiri in this set if she was responsible.
I'm doing the prerelease tonight, so exited
HELL YES! Is it just me, or do I wanna see Avacyn and Giselia duke it out?! So hyped!
best set looking so far
I like how it's categorized as Travel and Events
Olivia and Arlinn Kord are my favorite cards from the spoilers. Prerelease will be awesome.
Innistrad hype!
As a Lovecraft fan I really love that title
Planeshift for Innistrad?
Ugh, gonna have to get back into MTG and go to the prerelease for this. Love the fluff/lore/setting of the Innistrad blocks.
Man i liked the trailer so much it was like a movie trailer
ugh, rip avacyn, my favorite angel, hope she doesn't go too bad
She gets really bad as in genocide bad
This is going to be fun to play.
Didn't notice before, but what is up with the moon behind avacyn in the final frame? ;)
Innistrad's moon is made from the same material as the Helvault, and also plays an integral role in the plot of the following expansion, 'Eldritch Moon'.
What I wouldn't give for a Jace vs Avacyn fight in the Uncharted realms! SO HYPE!
+Marc Gallachobar Jace vs Avacyn DUEL DECK HYPE!
+Marc Gallachobar Jace confirmed super dead (if that happened).
+Brit Baumstein (Britbau) Jace beat Vraska the greates assassin of the multiverse in a duel, he is not confirmed super dead in a duel with Avacyn.
+Brit Baumstein (Britbau) Probably not. You saw what happend on zendikar. 2 of the greatest Eldrazi "Gods", titans so powerful, were both killed in the battle against the gatewatch and none planeswalkers, not Even Kiora, were killed.
+Emil Romin But he along Nissa, and Gideon Got their ass handed by Ob Nixilis
Funny how the original innistrad got me back into magic and this probably is going to do it again.
Y'all know his voice actor?
Jace! Woohoo!!! My Magic idol!
Go get em, Jace!
0:25 are those elves? theres elves in innistrad?
