I’m not a racer and Also I drive way too much, but I don’t like how the SXT looks. Its too basic. So the GT is a perfect choice for me.
Which is the point bc base models should not look like scats and SRTs.
Yea I don’t like the grill on the sxt
Sxt grill is ugly i yhought i was the ont one thought that
I have a black 2017 sxt and this is just the cold hard truth lol 💯 definitely want a GT or RT for my next one ☝️
@@JACPOT3rddd i ended up getting the GT challenger. I definitely like the body of the GT charger but the interior of the GT challenger
I have the 2020 GT, black on black. It definitely turns heads and gets many compliments. Looks aggresive! I'm happy!
Daniel Torres .. nothing wrong with that my friend
We got the same ride bro . I’m loving it
Looks aggressive until someone try’s racing you and you get dusted! 🤦🏽♂️🤣
That’s awesome! You should always be proud and happy for what you have!!
As a Charger Scat Pack owner i cant stand seeing GTs lol
Thank you RacerX for not bashing the V6. I got the SXT Plus cause it's what I could afford at the time. I am planning on stepping up next year, but I don't regret what I bought.
Redd Wolf nothing wrong with a V6
Nothing wrong with the 6 I have one two couple of mods and it wakes up
Absolutely.. be smart and get what’s comfortable for your pocketbook 👍
Me too. I got a 2018 sxt plus fully loaded with full leather. You can't even price and build my car on dodge. It won't let you get all the options. I want a scatpack but I hate to give up my unique car. Lol 😆
Ive got an RT but I've had an sxt before and I do alot of driving and sometimes I think of how In a perfect world of mine I'd have my v8 but on the side a very handsome v6 cause of that fuel economy. There are perks to all trims and saving money only ever helps.
I be straight gapping Honda’s, Minivans, Nissan Altima and so on in my 2019 GT 🤣🤣🤣 but I chill when I pull up next to a V8 lol
LOL probably a wise idea
As you should.
probably be up there with a Impala ss or gxp
U should that's a big boy car
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I recently purchased a 2018 Challenger GT and an pretty happy with how it rides and performs as a daily driver. I am aware that it is not a high performance car, nor will I use it to try and be fast, but mods should be installed to what makes people happy. If you enjoy it stock, great. If you want to supercharge it and take it to the race track, awesome! I installed a CAI and want to install an exhaust because it will put a smile on my face. Life is too short to care honestly.
Great video RacerX, you have a talent for explaining things really well. Just purchased my GT and insurance rates were more preferred with the v6.
We traded our 19 challenger GT for a 20 Challenger Scat.... I will say I love our Scat, but I do miss the GT. It was a great overall daily driver. It was a White Knuckle with the Black top package. Turned a lot heads. I just wanted the power.... but I would never put down the GT. It got me into the Challenger....I didnt try to be fast in it. I just liked being in it.
Great video. I love my V6 2005 Dodge Magnum SXT. It's 16 years old (built in early-mid 2004, has 170+ thousand miles on it, yet I do not see myself getting rid of it. It is so comfortable to drive, which I can imagine the SXT and GT would be. I am looking at getting a Scat or Hellcat, as a secondary, part time, vehicle. I just can't see not having my Magnum in my garage. I'm sure I'd feel the same if the Magnum were a V6 Charger, such as those you've compared. I would like bigger, wider tires/wheels on my magnum but have no idea what I could step up to from stock 215/65/17s.
Thanks for the great video, RacerX
Yes, the GT is worth it. Personally, I wouldn't even look at a V6 Charger. However, Dodge sells more of them than any of the HEMI V8 models. I used to sell at a CDJR dealership in Jersey. The V6 Chargers flew off the lot, and for good reason, I will admit. Great video man. Lots of quality content, yet again.
🔥🔥🔥 #MoparOrNoCar 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks buddy.. yes they do sell like crazy 👍
People prefer the V8, but because of the high prices of new cars they end up either buying a more priced friendly V6 or a used V8 in the price range of a new V6.
I think the gt is worth it but if it's the awd version. People talk about the muscle car heritage and that its gotta be a v8 but I honestly feel that point holds true to the challenger more. The challenger's whole concept is to remind you of the past. Yes some elements of the charger does that as well but at the end of the day it's a 4 door sedan. I think some people are just still fans of big family sedans which there are so few of in a SUV dominated world. In additional some people live where there is winter where the use of AWD helps. Going back point of the video the GT is the better optioned v6 model if you dont want bare bones. If you dont care about AWD then I agree that the R/T would probably be best value.
Ace Ventura just subscribed to you man. Please subscribe back.
@@basedshaman6183 I have a v6 charger and ik my limits for this car. I don't go around saying how fast it is because it's not fast, it's QUICK for what it is but it's not fast. And honestly who flexes a v6 charger unless it's FBO or supercharged. Now the brz/86/frs are actually slow for what they are tbh. The v6 chargers are just slightly faster than them in the high end. They both have a 6.2 0-60 but the charger has a higher trap speed and time in the quarter mile. Honestly I personally think there is no excuse for a brz being that slow for weighing a whole 1000 pounds less than a family sedan. There are cars faster than brz in the same category for the same price.
And sxt in rt clothing is the perfect desc. I want a daily driver (sxt) but also a clean/menacing look (rt). The gt is perfect
Thank you for the objective review. You did the V6 engine justice.
Very well put vid been looking for a comparison between the GT and RT thanks
The worst part is most people that buy this car put an aftermarket exhaust and roll up on actual performance cars
tjm 004 .. gotta dream big 💪
yeah. Smh

Your such a hater I love my 6 not everybody can afford a 8
@@thomasedwards9839 nah dude is hating on the people who act like they drive an 8...
I absolutely LOVE my GT, I have a long commute with tons of highway patrol, so gas savings/ initial cost / and insurance is lower getting a V6. It’s a SPICY SXT ... rt looks , with improved suspension and a sprinkle of POWER over the SXT... 30 MPG highway is a no brainer for a daily.
I have a 2018 GT Plus AWD, I think I should be getting more MPGs.

I got the 2019 lime green gt and blacked out my taillights with honeycomb tint turn alot of heads and when engine warranty is up im gonna supercharge it with ripp and should perform very well im happy with my purchase and great on gas as well
Back in March I went from a 2011 Challenger SE 3.6 to a 2013 Charger R/T and while I was there picked up a 2018 Charger GT AWD for my wife. She loves the car. I can get out of it's own way, has a lot of space and is great on gas.
Excellent info, right to the point. Thank you.
i just bought a 20 GT pitch black edition. I love it! i am not a racer by any means, nor do i want to be. everyone who rides with me say that it is a hell of a smooth ride. yes, it handles very nice! i am very happy with mine!
Definitely would get the GT over the SXT 💯✊🏿
I think I would too my friend
Yes, this was my thinking.
Please note that there are SXT Plus, and GT Plus.
GT is compared to the SXT, why people here are comparing it to the V8?
@@ari_3536 gt is a v6 rt is 5.7l V8

I feel like this is a good trim level for someone who has to commute to work and doesn’t want to spend a ton on gas. Still fun enough and definitely a great daily
It's great you're looking at the entire lineups now!
Chris M .. for sure
For an SXT :: Find a hellcat front bumper from a junkyard - delete the resonators and replace the muffler with a Flowmaster Super 44 and you have yourself a niceee V6 charger

I raced one the other day. I thought it was an R/T until I pulled away from it 😂

Here is Boston the number one Challenger appears to be the GT awd. It is a very unique car and one that people can actually daily drive all year up here in the North. Every winter during the first snowfall we always see people new to the city in their 2wd performance cars with summer tires spinning their wheels sideways on the roads.
I had a 2018 awd charger gt and it sucked in straight line races but in autocross events is when I noticed it performed well. Being able to throw the car through a turn without zero care in the world it definitely makes you smile. It won't be the same as driving a v8 but its still a fun car and if you mod it right it'll turn heads just as quick as a hemi.
I got a gt this week an absolutely love it black on black just a gorgeous car
I love how you actually review mopar products that are not just hell cats and SP’s, you actually consider the base models and rt unlike most people on RUclips
Thanks bro 🙏
Thanks for doing this
Great video X!!
I just bought a GT, first impressions, I love it so far. Heads do turn especially cops, it does have a lil kick compared to the sxt but I wouldn’t mind trading it for a v8 in the future. Can’t afford one just yet 🤣
Stay the course you will get there.. I'm confident ..
JUst got a challengert rt thank you for helping me make the decision!
GT is good with me, cheaper insurance, saves me gas money, has enough power (I don’t race) it looks good and sounds good with flowmasters but yes eventually I will upgrade to a RT. I’ve had the GT for almost a year and will probably keep it for at least 3 years before I upgrade. I heard Dodge might re design these in a few years too
I just got my black on black GT today. I love it !
My GF wants a GT and she feels it would have plenty of power for her . I hope she pulls the trigger soon . Great vid . Cheers
Mike Point .. for sure! Nothing wrong with the V6 for the average driver 👍
I got Charger GT Stars & Stripes edition. Menacing BLACK, 20 inch rims , tinted windows.
Turns lot of heads and enjoying the lower price on maintenance, fuel consumption and still have decent power to play with.
Nothing wrong with a V6.
Absolutely love it.
I have me a GT and I stay getting compliments from a lot of folks and from hellcat drivers also and it definitely rides smooth and has great speed to it I love it 😎👍👌
Bro that green is beautiful!!
I'm probably going to be moving to Forney within the next year..... gotta go watch you race.
I just bought a scatpack. I cant go back to a sxt or any thing of that nature.
Ozunababy .. it’s a different feel! My car runs 9’s all day but I don’t mind the V6
🤣🤣
That’s why I bought my ram 1500 with the pushrod hemi in it, I gota have that sound!
Facts bro lol I just bought the SRT 392. Never going back to the V6.
Love you dudes saying you’re never going back to a v6 we’ll see what happens when kids mortgage etc comes into play.
my wife just bought me a 2022 GT smoke show gray with the blacked out package. i LOVE this car!!! the v6 in sport mode gives me PLENTY of power for what i like to do. ive had my muscle cars in my younger years and played with v8s and suped v6s and this car is just what makes me happy. my uncle has a 2021 scat pack so if i ever wanna get that extra speed ill just go take his for a spin one day. otherwise, i love the body style. love the handling, love the gas prices lol.
I just got a 2020 SXT Plus AWD in the new Frostbite color. I went with the SXT for one reason only - I much prefer the Nappa Leather seats to the Alcantara in the GT.
In 24 and got an 2015 SXT challenger that I love. Mod it up for a few more gains and get the scatpack in 2-3 years. Part of the fun!
Just wait a year and buy a 2019 V8, I just got my ‘19 Challenger RT for much less than a new SXT and it’s practically brand new
Agreed. I just got a low mileage 18 Challenger RT around $23k
Certainly good deals out there for RT’s as well
I agree I got my 2019 RT for 25k with 11k miles
the R/Ts are actually great....very good power for the price! i'm currently saving up for an R/T
I hear what you're saying, but when you have a 50-minute commute one way and only have one car, a V8 takes a back seat.
The GT also comes in an AWD version that has the super track pack. Unfortunately that only has sport mode and basically economy mode, no track mode. It comes with 19" wheels not the 20's and because it's AWD it sits considerably higher then the RWD GT. I hope this help anyone that's wanting to buy a GT model.
Ive got the awd and it has the 20" wheels idk if its because I have the black top
SXT Plus was more expensive than GT when I visited a dealer. GT Plus was also around 2.5k more than GT. Additions? Wheels and Premium seats with heating/cooling, plus the looks + 8hp and 4 torque. Does these additional have an actual value? Depends on the buyer.
I used to drive a 2019 challenger GT. It was a great car to get around, fuel economy was great, also turned heads and got compliments. But eventually you're going to want more power and sound. So i upgraded to the RT 👍🏻 Has plenty of power and fuel economy isn't bad at all! Very happy with it!
David Rodriguez .. nice 👍.. yes moving to the RT is a nice change
Us Canadians only have the AWD GT as an option it seems unless you wanna look at your beast 8 months a year.
how is the fuel economy in the RT?
@@yeahhhdro64 Its really not bad at all. Of course it depends on your driving habits. R/T is my daily and Im mostly on the highway. So im on 18mpg. On the streets its a little different, you'll burn fuel but not super crazy. And I fill up every 5 days. Over all fuel economy is really good for a 5.7 V8.
@@davidrodriguez3008 okay thank you for that, i’m currently deciding between a GT and RT. And fuel economy/MPG was a big factor for me. Obviously the GT has a better MPG because it’s a V6 but I kindaaaa want the RT because it’s a V8 😂 and i like how it sounds.
You should try driving that one with a ripp supercharger in it. Might change your mind on the speed part
You can tell the difference by the yellow protectors on the front bumper. My brother just got a 2021 Charger GT, it’s nice. Plus AWD, much better for winters where we live. If you wanna go base V8 I think there are many better cars to choose from- at the very least you need a Scat pack to make the charger in V8 worth while, imo. (Still aesthetically one of my fav front and rear light systems on any car)
I'm almost at 200k on my 2006 Magnum SXT 3.5L V6. All of it completely stock. No mods. Engine still runs as great as the day I bought it. You can even tell its on at a stop. Truly the SXT is the best trim.
Isn’t sxt the worst trim?
My first charger was a V6 police charger with all upgraded components. It can't beat the Hemi but it can still keep up with it
Im hoping that when I start working in a couple years Im gonna work my but off to get me a charger, most cars that I have driven (my dad's cars) are around 280 horsepower so the GT is for me, I like to just drive around and the car also has horsepower so it's not bad(faster than my cousin's toyota camry 2019 XSE 291 horsepower) so honestly I would be happy with the GT thanks for the review helped me with my decision
I just bought the 2021 Dodge Charger GT and I love the look.
How’s it holding up? I’m shopping for one before they go away.
Nice thing about the GT is that it has a few options for interior colours. Only can get all black for the SXT.
I went with SXT plus 3 years ago! When you live in a state with lots of snow and it’s your daily driver, AWD and with a set of studs is the way to go!! Unfortunately they decided not to continue AWD and the Hemi( not a fan of the old body styles) but they continued for police editions🤔🤔🤔..At the end of the day drive what you want. People will always have something negative to say. Love and mod your car get what you want and what fits your needs!!
Dat SickVsix .. your exactly right .. there’s no way to please everyone.. just go with what you enjoy and make it your own
I have a supercharged GT AWD Challenger, driving it in the snow out here in Minnesota I have no worries it's a unique build that u won't see a lot. I do have to say only in bad weather states would the gt be worth it.
Nice!! What cars have you embarrassed?
I love these videos, I was always curious about the GT, watching your videos now I know what the different chargers and challengers have and the horsepower they have, it was getting very confusing, LOL,look forward to the next one👍🏻
Jason Beeman .. thanks buddy .. glad I could help
I'm not a big fan of drag racing so the scat pack and the hellcat don't really do it for me. Typically I don't even take a second look at chargers, But there is this silver GT with the black wheel option around the corner from my house and I always catch myself admiring it. Seems like a pretty solid daily. As long as they don't straight pipe the exhaust of course. Lol
I have the Challenger GT RWD fully loaded minus sunroof and I love the thing. All the power I need looks good and I average 16MPG 😆 (I know I should be getting better MPG.. sport mode all day)
Geesh! My 392 gets better than than in the city when I'm getting into it. It easily gets 20+ highway.
The Chally has too much weight to be economical with that V6 engine which is why it’s a waste of time over the Charger.
Would this be the best car for me if I want a quiet car that doesn’t have that loud roaring noise but it looks something like a scat pack or a hell cat
The All wheel drive option is the major selling point for these
I have the 2018 GT in destroyer grey. Turns head because of the color and looks decent. But wishing I would’ve went straight for the RT. Definitely saved some money tho and now I know I really like the Charger. Gonna get an RT in a few months
Perfect example of why the GT exist. You test the waters and if you like it, upgrade to the v8. If you wanna keep it you can, nothing wrong with that. Both great cars in their own way
That’s the best color for there is for these cars IMO. Almost got one was so close to getting it lol
Thinking to subscribe, but I have a question... What makes the gt faster than the sxt, since they have the same v6 engine?? Gt has like 10-20 more hp, but the same v6
$2k more is def worth it for a GT. I do feel like its a bit of a poser with its styling though. The styling should be v8 exclusive imo
Im 20 just copped a 2017 v6 sxt, ofc we’d all get a v8 or a better model but its what i can afford. Believe it or not i get a lot of compliments on it. Only thing i done to it is 5% all around. Definitely still fun to drive 👍🏽👍🏽 we’ll get to a v8 one day
I’ve been looking at the Charger for a couple of months now and I’ve been really torn between the SXT or GT. I have to get one of the two because I live in the Mountains and need the AWD to get around.
I have a challenger v6 because I live in LA and never go past 20 mph. I did put an AFE intake with the hellcat intake headlight hose and a borla attakk exhaust. Sometimes I feel I should have gone for the RT and sometimes I feel I should have bought a $4000 Honda Fit haha either way my challenger looks nice and I’m having fun keeping up with anything else in that LA traffic
My ball & chain has the 2019 Charger GT. It’s definitely a fun car to drive and has great gas mileage. I totally agree about the suspension. It’s a smooth ride on the open highway as well. You’ll find yourself unknowingly over the speed limit if you’re not careful.
would you so the sxt is more comfortable ride because i heard the gt has a more stiffy suspension, i don't know if they mean that while the sport mode enabled or not.
Damn that dealer loves silver and white chargers huh 😂😂
Police are their top customers so why not cater to them. White, silver and black
I purchased a 2018 Charger GT for my daughter. Nice car but the seats are super uncomfortable especially the passenger seat. Way too much lumbar support. I have a 2018 Challenger RT with the alcantara seats and they are really comfortable. Did they change the seats in the 2020 charger?
I've rented a few V6 sedans (Impala, Camry and Maxima) from airports in the last year. The GT was the best looking and also the slowest, albeit by the slimmest of margins.
Joe Albert .. but it was probably also the roomiest 👍
@@RacerX9 It sure was. Enjoyed it the most too.
Purchased a 2021 GT Grey on black. Just needs straight pipes and ill be in business. But it certainly turns heads
From what I understand the gt gets a performance handling package over the sxt? A slightly different final rear drive gears? Does it handle any better than the sxt or get a better 0-60 then the sxt?
I got an 2018 sxt plus super track pack. I don’t race and love the look of it as it has a gt body style
At this point a low milage 2014 RT would be the better option!
Slim Hardaway .. I suppose it depends on what you like 👍
RacerX just some info from the 303 street scene. 300 hp not too good for racing but u bought a 310hp LGBT Subie for a daily that gets nearly the same mpg as a Hellcat. Known for high school punks owning the slowest brand (Subie roo) and racing everyone. I don’t mean to be rude at all but that is exactly the definition of what you bought and no one drives those here because of that reason. When did everyone’s pride go out the window... Drive a manly car
RacerX I’m very curious why you would buy a brand well known for specifically those people buying them? Not to mention slower than a FUN JEEP Grand Cherokee, Ford Explorer ST, Durango SRT, Kia stinger or Toyota Supra just to name a few and you pick the one LGBT an punk high school brand. I had two friends that were LGBT and went to the Subaru sponsored events, I have no problem with those people but why would you want that image
John Anderson when did the lgbt start triggering you? I didnt read a single thing in their comments that was offensive or whatever
Yeah. Every R/T has been hammered on. You’re buying someone else’s problem.
Proud ‘19 Charger GT owner i bought from this dealership on same release year. This dealership is in Irving btw, not Arlington
I drove my 2012 V6 Charger SXT-Plus for 7 years. It was a great reliable daily family car. If it had the AWD, I would have kept it for the winters where I live. I have to admit, despite the peppy and enthusiastic V6, I was beginning to crave the raw power of a V8. Have you watched all those videos of guys driving the V8's and grinning ear to ear? I wanted that experience. Eventually, I caved in to temptation and ordered my '19 RT Scat Pack 392 widebody Challenger. I've had it a year and I just adore it. I'll never go back to a V6. But I will admit, in the winter months, all that extra power gets you nowhere fast. The V6 handles bad weather conditions better in my experience and the AWD would really compliment that to great advantage.
Do you guys get pretty bad winter weather? I live in an area with pretty bad winters but like the higher end chargers. However, due to the previously mentioned winters, I was wondering how much or little trouble you had in the winter.
Had a GT trade it in for the RT/ GT definitely worth the money though💯if u trying to decide over the SXT the GT is the way to go

@@kenricward7022 ….no issues. Regular oil changes have been the only tasks requiring raising the hood. 47k miles and averaging 28 mpg (I have an 80 mile round trip commute to work, all highway miles. )
If your buying for fuel efficiency (hence buying a v6 in most cases), the SXT. AWD makes a huge difference in fuel consumption. Don't care what anyone says. AWD are pigs compared to RWD or FWD with the same engine/transmission setup.
Yes, AWD is not nearly as efficient or light. Racers know this. Poor sales is probably the reason Dodge discontinued the V8 awd Charger and never offered V8 awd in the Challenger.

Beautiful cars.
I wish Dodge had a V8 AWD option. Living in NYC where the AWD would be awesome during winter season. Only reason I would even think of getting a GT over a scat pack.
Good winter tires on 18" will improve the experience with V8 RWD Charger in the snowy winter in north of US or south of Ontario.
