In all honesty, I'd choose the Scat Pack myself. Yes, the Hellcat has more HP, but there's so many more factors in choosing between the 2. If you're someone who goes to the track on a daily basis and is particularly wealthy, the Hellcat would be the choice considering you more than likely have another vehicle that's more practical. For me, all I do is commute 45-50 minutes to work throughout the week and drive around town on the weekends in my 18 Challenger RT Plus. Would I take a Scat Pack? Of course, but as of now, I'm only able to afford my RT. It's called staying in your lane and being content with what you have. I see myself getting the 6.4 one day. Heck, I wouldn't mind the Hellcat, but my circumstances would have to be completely different for that. But I digress; 485 HP isn't anything to sneeze at at all.
Great review. I’ve been blessed to be able to own a 17 charger Daytona 392 and a 18 charger hellcat. (Traded one for the other). I can say you can’t go wrong with either car. Both are fun and crazy fast. However I prefer my hellcat more. With the HP modes, 500hp mode is actually super fun and easy to manage.
@@just_a5.7 mine is chipped and does closer to 750, but yeah...it can get you in trouble quick. Most of my driving in eco mode with "only" 500hp. And thats still a beast, but safer.
So I'm worried if I get the new hellcat that I wont be able to use all the 700 hp in the street . Cuz I don't go to drag strips or anything like that I just do dig races or roll racing
@@just_a5.7 The scat is fine, but the hellcat gives you the option of scat level power OR hellcat insanity. In my opinion, youll learn really quick how much throttle is enough. If you have the $$$ to spend, its a great ride.
As a proud owner of a 2015 Scat Pack, I can state that the Charger is the best bang for the buck sedan, literally is the best selling RWD sedan in the US. I wish Chrysler provided more interior colors like the SRT, I would definitely get the Brown Laguna Seca for a couple of grand, although I'm pretty happy with the Black Suede leather. If you plan to get the Scat Pack make sure you get the Suede Leather Package (this includes the vented seats and much more) and the Beats Audio System (far the best audio system for this car), those are the must have packages you will not regret. Do not get any of the tire packages, get your own tires since the good year summer tires didn't last me more than 8 months :S This car is rock solid and the only thing you will have to worry is your tires and brakes, so far I've spent 3 sets of Tires (255/45/20 continental Sport- $900) and Brakes I spent $2000. I'm mostly highway driver since I got my new I've been driving this car almost 100 miles a day with mild Traffic (35MPH to +80MPH) I can keep the car at 4 Cylinder mode in 45% of the trip. I get up to 28-31 MPG in 4 cylinder mode at 80 MPH and 25-27 at 8 cyl at 80 MPH on Highway Driving with 19-21 MPG combined at each trip driving gentle (no point in hammering it on traffic). You will rarely use the full pedal (unless racing/spinning the tires) half of it will get you up to +120 MPH easily ;) however MPG combined will be on the low 14-16
In my honest opinion I love both cars but when I get to the dealership I'll make up my mind which one I want but shouts out to the guy doing the review on both of them he did an amazing job breaking down the differences between each car they both have the same look it's just one supercharged another ones 5.7 hemi but overall I love the video I can't stop watching these Charger videos I've been wanting one of those since they bought those back out in like 2005
This is why I got the Scat Pack over the Hellcat. I LOVE the Hellcat, but as more of a daily I can mod and all, the Scat Pack was the way to go for me!
Michel Jones lol. Quick to assume I’m broke.. very elementary. I clear 100k annually and a credit score close to 800. Pretty easy to get whatever I want, and I wanted the Scat Pack. Please don’t embarrass yourself Mickey.
These use different engines, aside from the supercharger. The Hellcat's displacement is 6.2 vs 6.4 for the Scatpack. I'd want to know more about the internals, since some are better built than others.
I drove a 2018 Scat Challenger with 6 speed. The burble and pops of the exhaust were worth the price of admission. 4 people in the car and the 2nd to 3rd shift I did was magical. My sons were impressed. I want a Hellcat but think i would not drive it as much as the Scat Pack. I think the Nascar look of the Charger though is simply unique with the wide body. I don't really roll with family anymore; I like horsepower and some of the 80K Redeyes are discounted $14k or so. I don't want to take the plunge on $1200/month payments. Really should buy a house first...

I had a similar choice to make when shopping for my 2021 Challenger. I could afford either one, but chose the Scat Pack for the reasons mentioned here (and by 2021, my Scat Pack also has the carbon fiber dash/center-console), but also it was far easier to find a 6-spd manual Scat Pack than a 6-spd manual Hellcat.
Mine’s on a train headed this way❣️ I went with the 2020 Charger Scat Pack Widebody this time around. I’m more nervous about going with Pitch Black than anything. But damn! It’s gorgeous🔥🔥🔥
A fine review, thank you! Yeah..get the Scat Pack..bc..ok, less money. Then own and drive it for a few years and if you really want to go with a supercharger later..put one on! Kenne Bell will sell you one for like $6,000 and you can top the Hellcat hp with it :) ..the Kenne Bell SC's are super quality and very efficient, using 100hp less power to spin than the stock models.
I completely agree with Roman. That’s why I bought a 19 scat pack over a Hellcat. 485 is underrated anyway. Hellcats are almost unusable on the street. They might be more fun, but scary at the same time.
Landon Scott Most people purchase Scat Pack models because they can't afford a SRT Hellcat. Also the Hellcat's 707 hp engine can be dialed down to 500hp (with the black key or through the infotainment menu) for everyday driving purposes thus the "hellcats are almost unusable on the street" spiel is nothing but complete bullcrap.
TheBjjones yes I realize that. You can purchase a used Hellcat in the price range of a loaded Scat pack. It wasn’t the $$ for me. I’ll take the availability to option the car exactly how I want as you can with the Scat Pack over the Hellcat. I used to work for Landmark Dodge in Atlanta. The home of Speedfactory. We built a Hellcat spec Challenger, which Dodge used as a model for the Hellcat 3 years before it existed. Dodge sent us the prototype Supercharger that eventually made its way to the Hellcat. I liked it, it was fast. But not an everyday car. I’ve taken my Scatpack the dragstip and watched the Hellcats run the same time as the Scat packs because they can’t put the power down.. it’s a useless way to spend $25k+...
we drove a Hemi back from ft lauderdale to st augustine and we averaged almost 36 mpg because of the active cylinder deactivation. It got better gas mileage than the Lincoln Continental we drove down but that broke down and so budget replaced it with a special edition challenger with the v8 hemi. It took a full tank of gas in the continental to get there but the challenger had a quarter of a tank left after the same miles and same driving dynamics coming back. I was absolutely shocked.
You probably had the 5.7L in that Challenger. My 2015 SRT got 26 mpg on a similar trip. Then I spent 10 min on TX-130 at 90 and lost 4 tenths mpg. Fun, though.

No! You're supposed to say you want the hellcat to persuade more people to buy it. The only way FCA will keep making those cars is if they keep selling. Unfortunately, there is only so much you can do to improve them when they are already at the limits of powertrain technology. I honestly don't see them lasting another 10 years unless they can either keep selling them or find/ make the technology to get them even more powerful. That's just my opinion, though. And technology is advancing like crazy, so maybe there will be something they can do in the future. Who knows?
Agree, not much more can be done. Maybe a dct. Better traction/launch control--your tail tries to pass you on the left if you get on it. I think it could be scaled down by 10%--the center console so wide you have to call the passenger over in thaf other zipecode on your phone-wasted space.
AWD is really all either car needs. It would dramatically help launch and handling. Biggest complaint of any V8 Challenger/Charger is lack of traction. Just ask the cops who got the V8 AWD models. They love them.
I bought a Scat Pack about 4 months ago. I love it so much. I actually ordered it so I got everything I wanted. It’s fun to drive and every time I pull up all I hear is, “OMG it’s a Girl!” Hilarious!
FCA needs to make a wide body Jeep Trackhawk / SRT as the swan song of the WK2 model. One thing Roman was not adequately showing, was the dash cover on the new 2020’s. It looked like on the Hellcat that it had a stitched leather dash cover, which is one thing I have wanted FCA to offer for years - because their existing overly patterned soft touch plastic dash cover looked cheap.
Yeah trackhawk with the AWD has no problem hooking up the traction. If these cars had it then they'd be soaring too (maybe the next gen will have it). You can get any 2019+ charger with the leather dash it just has to have the premium package or Daytona package.
@freEvo8 well if they learned anything from the current gen then they could make this the standard width or go wider than this one. They could make it work or go to a new AWD that would fit easier. It would be an amazing thing to see.
@freEvo8 i don't think the price drive would be that much. The track hawk is expensive for more than just the engine and AWD system. One, it's a Jeep so it's got built in price hike just for that and the Grand Cherokee itself is a much more expensive vehicle. A plain srt starts at 28k higher than a scatpack. I really can't see it exceeding 80k starting price. Maybe close to 76k but who knows. We can only speculate.
@freEvo8 how much did you pay for your trackhawk. I have a 2019 RT but eventually I I want something more powerful. Was thinking a scat at least but if I end up starting a family I'd love to go GC.
Just got a wb scat last month and I love it. Only thing I would change is the seats. I have the red alcantara seats but I wish I had the option to get full leather like the hellcat. Leather is just easier to maintain.
Having owned a bolt ons and tuned 6.1 SRT 300 the best new Mopar for the money is the challenger 1320 and the base Scat Pack Charger. These are muscle cars, not sports cars. They all have enough power to get you jail time and are extremely comfortable inside.
They are most definitely not sports cars, that’s absolutely correct. Closest thing they come to is a GT car, but without the super duper luxury pieces like a Jag would have or something similar from a luxury car brand. They sit alone in an actual muscle car category.

Do not get any of the tire packages, get your own tires since the good year summer tires didn't last me more than 8 months :S
This car is rock solid and the only thing you will have to worry is your tires and brakes, so far I've spent 3 sets of Tires (255/45/20 continental Sport- $900) and Brakes I spent $2000.

I completely agree with Roman. That’s why I bought a 19 scat pack over a Hellcat. 485 is underrated anyway. Hellcats are almost unusable on the street. They might be more fun, but scary at the same time.
Landon Scott
Most people purchase Scat Pack models because they can't afford a SRT Hellcat.
Landon Scott listen , in the end, it’s still a HELLCAT. Anything below it is not worthy. It’s the top dawg or nothing.
Tony M you sound like a kid that’s never experienced horsepower and is living off of poster dreams...
Landon Scott ya I know I just drive a bmw luxuryyyyy
we drove a Hemi back from ft lauderdale to st augustine and we averaged almost 36 mpg because of the active cylinder deactivation.

Lance AWD system that sends 70% of power to the rear when launching.
@@fullbattlerattle2493 I dont believe awd was a hellcat option on the 2016 (could be wrong), but I am sure that would help a lot
AWD is really all either car needs. It would dramatically help launch and handling. Biggest complaint of any V8 Challenger/Charger is lack of traction. Just ask the cops who got the V8 AWD models. They love them.

Awesome cars; awesome review!
Also, sound levels are much better in this video!! I can hear Roman and the cars clearly!! 😄
Amen to the dash comment - had a 2015 SRT 392 fully loaded and wept when I saw the interior after it rolled off the delivery truck.
