Love the way Rob says that Chris "threw an engine in it" on his own. Like it's something we all do on our day off at the weekend! Another fine video chaps.
Those Suzuki engines really are a one-man lift. Did it on an SJ once. Just leaned in and lifted it out in one.

I have had a horrendous dream, so disturbing I woke up, it could be because our own home was almost Arsoned , but, I had gone all the way down to Medway to warn Chris, and it made me tired 💤 it took a long time to get there. And I said sternly to Chris...”Look Chris I have had to come all this way to Medway just to warn you, Didn’t I tell you to get some adequate CCTV , you can get it from Amazon for £139, Chris get that CCTV immediately, you know he is is unpredictable and unhinged , and yet I thought 💭 who is He ? I didn’t know who He was, but I felt He was a danger! It was such a disturbing dream regarding this He I woke up . How is your CCTV Chris after a dream like that.

I'd be inclined to reshell the bottom end completely give it a good flush and use it as is, Don't fix what isn't broken 👍

I would be interested to see.if a new turbo had ever been fitted.Because that should be under a warranty.or last owner has been done
Could you piece back the impeller wheel? Just to check there are no broken bits missing that could be in the intercooler or inlet manifold 👍

The blocked DPF probably put too much back pressure on it and killed it. Had Chris and Rob (Sherlock & Watson)got hold of it in the first place they would have probably asked first 'did it die or was it killed' before they replaced just the turbo.
If you get a few miles on that disco engine, do a few oil changes and inspect the oil filters, whip of the rocker cover and inspect - if all looks good, is it really worth changing? 😁

I liked Ed China working, he is good mechanic and clever enough to do some design. Seeing him try to act is painful. Brewer is your average motor trade turbo talker, go to the auction yourself and give him the swerve.

Great catch up Rob & Chris. I'm beginning to wonder if Chris ever sleeps, he has so much on the go. He never seems to lose track of anything either, he knew which bits were for which Viva without looking at notes. I have to write everything down or I forget it the next day :-).
Can't remember the last time i lied in til 9 and I'm retired!!!! Don't know why Chris doesn't like his own voice, it sounds great and enthusiastic when explaining whats gone wrong. I really cant get over how honest you two are withe he project cars you take on. Good Luck and all Power to your Elbow. Only Old English Men will appreciate the last.

Im getting too old to fix up old wrecks now but great work guys keep the vidios coming takes 20 years off me brings back wondreful memories of working on some of the oddball cars with my son Fred
The temporary fix will definitely last I think, if the engine not raced for long periods. I did a similar repair to a Volvo many years ago. Although the big end bearings hadn’t dissolved, the engine had a slight knock (turned out to be piston slap ), I replaced the pistons, rings and just the big end bearings, rebuilt it back together, sold the car then for not much. Two years later I spotted my old Volvo overtaking me on the A303 near Stonehenge still going strong at 80 mph !.
Must have been a few years ago, lucky to do 8 mph past Stonehenge nowadays.

Didn't hear it mentioned? but I assume you've blown out the oil feed lines to the new turbo to make sure there was no shrapnel from the bad bearing in there that could destroy the new one?

Honestly, if that engine is quiet after 500 mile running-in, Id be seiling it as is and as its likely to be someone on here or in the know, -they would be buying it with the knowledge. Even at 100k, that cars had a hard life to have knocked and end out. Its probably been thrashed within an inch of its life. easy come, easy go...as it would have been financed (arent they all these days?) on the firm. Old boys like me tend to buy what they can afford...

I think I'd change the oil on this, run it for a few hundred miles then take a sample of oil for professional analysis and if it comes back good change the oil again and just use it.

Wbac is owned by British car auctions who also own cinch. The bad ones go to auction the good ones go to cinch. They have messed up car buying so much. Took the profits from the normal people

wouldn't the turbo still be under warranty? as the previous owner had had it fitted not long ago?
The warranty would be void due to it packing up due to oil starvation that’s why the bearings went in it 👍
Rob: quick tips on the iPhone. Tapping the screen will allow you to focus on a subject. A LONG press will allow you to LOCK at a focal length. Let's say a tree in the distance. Long pressing will bring up a yellow box and allow it to be locked at that focal length, which is ideal for staying focus on things far away. But, I think the main benefit you'll find is just tapping the screen to get the phone to focus on something, instead of waiting for the phone to figure it out.

Hi, I designed turbochargers and at 4:25 the items are the oil baffle and the round item is an oil slinger both to prevent oil from passing into the compressor side.
