This race is so bittersweet to me. Mark Martin is my favorite race car driver of all time, but damn, this entire race was so good. The run of domination from Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart in the beginning, a perfect amount of cautions throughout the race, the night time finish, the comeback of Kevin Harvick, the photo finish, massive wreck at the end, Clint Bowyer's spectacular finish, it was all just so perfect. This is my favorite race in the history of motorsports and proof that NASCAR didn't turn bad once Dale Earnhardt died. How I wish that Mark held off Kevin though
@@luisayalajr8139 I think it is to do with the feel of this actual race, a lot of people were expecting a win, especially MM and the other drivers, the build up, the drafting, and then the spectacular finish, you don't like it then that's fine, we all have our own opinions. This is my favorite 500 race Kevin Harvick’s win and Matt Kenseth Saved at the end of the race and I love they stared day time to night time and the gen 4 sounds omg!!!!!
The sound comes from The Collector pipe. The header pipes run into the exhaust pipe which meets The Collector and that's where that sound come from. It depends on how the baffles are designed inside the collector as the exhaust passes through those baffles and then exits
I have bad long term memory but I remember this like it was yesterday. I was 8, I was rooting for Martin, and im not ashamed to admit I cried. And then I went to pizza hut with my grandparents.
There's also more to it and how the exhaust is designed which is complicated to put in a comment section however the reason that used that exhaust in that era was because even though they are wide open with a restrictor plate, it makes the power evenly through the RPM band. Helps gain RPM back if they did have to crack out of the throttle also. From Spring 2004 through Spring 2007 at Daytona and Talladega the Hendrick cars actually had more the old style exhaust and it had a flatter sound. Next time anybody watches try to see if you notice how the Hendrick cars with a loud flat sound
