This feature is so awesome. I have this on my tv but the input lag feels like it’s at least 30ms. The tv I have was top of the range about 7 years ago and I believe I have the first version of motion plus.

It looks good on most ps4 games. I have it turn ON all the time. The 30fps is very smooth and it's like 60fps. The latency is not that bad. I have the QLED tv. 60hz with 120hz motion rate. I could have gotten the 120 refresh rate but maybe next time.
On my 2023 entry level TV, i can choose between Off, Minimum, Medium and High, but it's called different. When i'm in a game, the TV has a so called Game Bar 3.0, where i can choose how much i want to decrease or increase input lag, which basically is the motion smoothing. Outside of games, i can set "movement sharpness" (that's what they called it in German) from 0 to 10. I hope this helped.
The great thing about these current Samsung TVs is not only do you get motion interpolation for game mode without a significant hit to response time, but you also get freesync, which can be used with compatible devices, e.g. Xbox One X. I wish PS4 Pro had Freesync. Another feature of these TVs in the motion plus settings is BFI (black frame insertion), which is controlled via the LED clear motion function. This mimics the flickering of CRT TVs of old in an attempt to provide a clearer image. This mode is definitely not for me. The flickering screen makes my eyes hurt and it also darkens the screen considerably. The Samsung NU8000 and the QLED range have all these features, but as far as I know only 55 inch models and above have the 120hz panels that allow Freesync and the full game motion plus controls, i.e. Blur and Judder control. The smaller versions have Judder control only as they're 60hz panels only. Get freesync on PS4, Sony!
This kind of technology allows me to enjoy high fps gaming with Final Fantasy xv. (as my rig is a medium (fair level) rig pc [specs: i7-3770 gtx 1050 ti and 16 gb of ram). Final Fantasy xv is a visually appealing game, albeit very demanding on pc. And The highest it can game (on medium settings with Anti aliasing set to max, and texture resolution set to medium) with this setup is at 46 fps on 1080p, and sometimes frame drops to 29 fps, but because of this amazing technology, I can play the game at double the frame rate the rig outputs the game at on tv, and this is thanks to the technology. Frame drops look very smooth because a 29 fps frame drop (rendered on the tv) looks like 58 fps .. And even with this motion interpolation feature on, input lag remains fairly low. Really impressed with this technology. Low fps gets doubled because of this technology. Yea yea, I know some say blurring does occur, but if you mess enough with the settings there's a way to reduce blurring. Really really impressed with this technology. (New edit:::) Input lag is lower on better tvs
Kind of weird that literally ALL reviews on this TV will mention different input lag values. Anyway, for console gaming, I think it will be pretty amazing. Ordered this TV and will be incomming in around 10 days :-)
So when you're playing horizon zero Dawn what is the best settings for it for the PS4 pro motion plus ?? should I even have it on or do what you said judder at 10 blurr at 0 ?? Other people saying blur at 10 and motion at 0 or 5 or both of them at 10
I use Phillips "Natural Motion" with God of War and AC Odyssey, it works really well and this is a cheap TV. I might see if I can measure the added lag vs "Game Mode" as it's not intended for gaming like the Samsung implementation. Also the added lag on the Samsung is very impressive as if you think about it, the theoretical minimum to interpolate an added frame from 30 to 60 fps IS one 60fps frame time or 16.67ms. (You can't calculate and display the added frame until the frame used for the processing has already arrived. So even if you processed instantly 16.67ms is your minimum.)
I have the NU8000 and when Game Mode is on I think that fast panning still look stuttery. Objects on the screen are always very nice and smooth, but panning looks a bit stuttery. Has anyone had the same experience?
Auto motion in my TV turms off automatically when I open my ps4 pro and when I want to edit it, I'm not able to do it. Edit: I solved the problem and it is working magnificently. Thx for the video.
Same here. I turn Judder to 0. Otherwise I get ghosting, the reticle breaks apart into 3 or 4 pieces, and that weird "aura" around the character where there's a strange blurring.
@@alex1212456 Blur affects 60fps content. Judder affects 30fps content. However, increasing Judder, even by 1 point, will add motion blur to, say, a reticule that you move Infront of you. It's down to personal preference with regards to your individual settings. And no, it doesn't feel like 30.

I did exactly the same and I am so much more satisfied right now! Much much better motion plugs in movies, better contrast, better colors and the local dimming has improved a lot!

You need to test with game motion off to get 13ms. I would like to see BFI On and game motion both set to 0. You will need to buy input lag testing device to get accurate results.

U r correct. But the best game for testing is gta v. It the most choppy game for console. Motion interp kills all of that. Just open your phone select a car dealership and scroll up and down while adjusting your settings.

Hey, I have a TV like you and give you a sound at AC Odyssey, I have a blur when I'm playing a game of Motion without a plus, can it be done to reduce motion blur when we move the camera?
What happens if you simply enable Game Motion Plus but leave Judder and Blur at 0? Are you still gaining any benefits? And are you adding any input lag? I noticed that Spider-Man on PS5 benefits as some horizontal lines when panning night skies go away with GMP enabled. So it's clearly doing something even with Judder and Blur at 0. Very curious to get some official info.
I did and with out (turned off) I got terrible ghosting on darker places like a green and blue ghost effect on objects. With it on I noticed no input lag extra but it did tell me that there was some. Nothing more than total 20 milliseconds. So maybe an extra 1-4 milliseconds. I have to have this turned on or else there is a blurr ghost effect.

@@Peteriscoolz I compared them both to my KS8500 and the KS looks better than the NU8000 but the Q6fn beats my KS in terms of colors and black levels, you can see if you put them side by side only, if you are happy with the NU8000 just keep it, that tv has great picture quality as well.

@@Peteriscoolz I wouldn't go for Oled if you are planning or game too much, the new Samsung TVs are the best for gaming this year. For the most part I do leave freesync all the time since I play a lot of multiplayer games.
Is my TV locked at 60 fps ( my TV has 120hz) when playing playstation if i didn't turn this on ? Or the fps automatically go up to more than 60 fps ( depending on console or games ) even if this is turned off ?

a question not about Motion Plus but about Samsung tv. I got the NU8000 2 weeks ago, and few days ago i've noticed there is like a bright light spot in the top left corner which is very visible when the tv turns in red/blue/yellow or any color of this kind. You don't see it if the tv goes black but i can see it in many games/movies and even in the ps4 menu which is blue and makes that light spot noticeable.. I'm thinking about returning the tv back or what should i do ?
I have a 2019 Curved TV. It shows Dynamic Black Equalizer, Game Motion Plus, Freesync, And Game Enhancer. Game Enhancer on my TV is the only setting grayed out in game settings. Any idea guys?
My game motion plus is grayed out. I turn off vrr and even reduced down to 60hz and also tried going down in resolution and iys still grey. I'm using the Series X on a Q80T if that helps. What needs to be done to allow it.
I wouldn't worry about using GMP, that's good for old games locked at 30fps, you have the Series X, games run at a solid 60fps and some even at 120hz on that TV.
@@JoelsterG4k I understand. I just got frustrated cause I couldn't get it to work. Pay alot of money for something and not getting the feature to work is a problem. I used it with my One X just by turning VRR off and for open world games I liked it.
how do you acces the game motion plus options? mine are greyed out. I heard you have to workaround to get it. rename HDMI port to pc, set xbox to full rgb and then activate gamemode. then the option is there. is that how you run it?

I've turned freesync off and setup GMP to say 10/0 for 30 fps content to test say tombraider on 4k mode. I then turn on FS again and then GMP settings are greyed out, but does that mean that they are no longer in effect or are they active and maybe causing issues with the freesync effects?
Hey Joelster I just purchased the 49in version of this TV and I don't see the game motion plus setting anywhere under game mode. Is it not available on the 49 incher?
@@dirk4emal the 49in model has the same input lag as the other Q6's, which is one of the best for gaming, when in game mode. I turn on auto motion plus settings when playing games that are more casual and don't require lightening quick responses. This makes the games look and play super smooth. The input lag in this mode is still quick even as quick as some other tv sets that are in game mode. Hope this helps.
@@Portgas_D_Ace7 get a X. Problem solved. But keep the pro too. Use the X for there exclusives & all multiplatform games & use the Pro just for playstation single player exclusives which doesn't need 60fps. The Pro doesnt have the freesync or 1440p @ 120hz options. Not powerful enough. So either get the X or stick to how its been for you so far. Or wait for the next generation of consoles around the corner.
Hey Joelster! I'm thinking of going between the NU8000 or the 2018 P series at 55''. Do you think the full array local dimming is more important than the improved gaming features on the NU8000? The input lag is 10 ms higher on the Vizio P55 when using HDR, and you can't really use interpolation with it to play games. The NU8000 doesn't have the black levels or FALD, but the input lag is better. I play in a dark room, but I don't like my display super bright. Still rocking a 2010 ln46c610 so I will probably be happy with either choice. Is game motion plus vastly improved since 2010? Thanks for the video.
full framerate is always great, but when consoles are limited to 30/60 fps, a good implementation does WONDERS seriously, even VR headsets use this trick to make sure you dont miss frames its magic, and on samsung tvs has very little downsides outside of "i prefer it to not look so smooth" Playing pokemon on switch with this is night and day, very impressive stuff

Most def yes online or off. For 60fps games you WILL feel imput lag. Looks nicer on 30fps games if you don't mind the trail effect certain images leave mainly games with cursors u will see it.
Well I've been reviewing TVs, I like this one because of the gaming features and fast menu response, also picture quality is amazing, the sony x900f is also a great tv, it all comes down to preferences.

@@theexace I suggest lower sensitivity with motion plus. High sensitivity causes much more ghosting and artifacts

Judder increases ghosting when I increase its value, but if I have the settings in reverse to you: Blur 10 Judder 0 = no ghosting or double images.

Question do u switch these settings dependingon what your playing or can you just leave it?

With COD turn game motion off, and VRR on for lowest input lag/smoother experience.

IMO yes, when I upgraded to the Q6FN I noticed an improvement in colors, contrast and brightness.

No, but auto motion plus is. It is the same as game motion, but you can't use it with game mode and the input lag is bigger

a question not about Motion Plus but about Samsung tv. I got the NU8000 2 weeks ago, and few days ago i've noticed there is like a bright light spot in the top left corner which is very visible when the tv turns in red/blue/yellow or any color of this kind. You don't see it if the tv goes black but i can see it in many games/movies and even in the ps4 menu which is blue and makes that light spot noticeable.. I'm thinking about returning the tv back or what should i do ?
Im not sure but you can try to turn off local dimming ( or try to reset setting for the picture mode) .

I have a 2019 Curved TV.
It shows Dynamic Black Equalizer, Game Motion Plus, Freesync, And Game Enhancer.
Game Enhancer on my TV is the only setting grayed out in game settings.
Any idea guys?

My game motion plus is grayed out. I turn off vrr and even reduced down to 60hz and also tried going down in resolution and iys still grey. I'm using the Series X on a Q80T if that helps. What needs to be done to allow it.
I wouldn't worry about using GMP, that's good for old games locked at 30fps, you have the Series X, games run at a solid 60fps and some even at 120hz on that TV.
@@JoelsterG4k I understand. I just got frustrated cause I couldn't get it to work. Pay alot of money for something and not getting the feature to work is a problem. I used it with my One X just by turning VRR off and for open world games I liked it.

Don't use it if you want the lowest input lag.
How about if you using the TV as a PC monitor and, want 60fps motion plus?
For PC you can use 1440p/120hz option, it works great, check out this video using this tv on PC.

Took me 9 months to find the right settings on my old KS9000 for 4k gaming... think it's gonna all happen again with Game Motion Plus settings!
how do you acces the game motion plus options? mine are greyed out. I heard you have to workaround to get it. rename HDMI port to pc, set xbox to full rgb and then activate gamemode. then the option is there. is that how you run it?
No once you turn game mode on it will turn on
@@Derek_Dkickz thanks man. one more thing; do the effects of game motion plus and freesync stack? I've turned freesync off and setup GMP to say 10/0 for 30 fps content to test say tombraider on 4k mode. I then turn on FS again and then GMP settings are greyed out, but does that mean that they are no longer in effect or are they active and maybe causing issues with the freesync effects?
Hey Joelster I just purchased the 49in version of this TV and I don't see the game motion plus setting anywhere under game mode. Is it not available on the 49 incher?
The 49 in only has a 60 hertz panel so it don't have the game motion plus .. the 55 inch and above have the 120 panel and game motion plus

@@dirk4emal the 49in model has the same input lag as the other Q6's, which is one of the best for gaming, when in game mode. I turn on auto motion plus settings when playing games that are more casual and don't require lightening quick responses. This makes the games look and play super smooth. The input lag in this mode is still quick even as quick as some other tv sets that are in game mode. Hope this helps.

Yes if you use 1440p/120hz option the input lag drops to 9ms. But you loose HDR.

JoelsterG4K I watched the video and think it can only be on the xbox 1. I have a Ps4 pro and can only choose from 2160, 1080p, 1080i and 720p
@@Portgas_D_Ace7 get a X. Problem solved. But keep the pro too. Use the X for there exclusives & all multiplatform games & use the Pro just for playstation single player exclusives which doesn't need 60fps. The Pro doesnt have the freesync or 1440p @ 120hz options. Not powerful enough. So either get the X or stick to how its been for you so far. Or wait for the next generation of consoles around the corner.
Hey Joelster! I'm thinking of going between the NU8000 or the 2018 P series at 55''. Do you think the full array local dimming is more important than the improved gaming features on the NU8000?
The input lag is 10 ms higher on the Vizio P55 when using HDR, and you can't really use interpolation with it to play games. The NU8000 doesn't have the black levels or FALD, but the input lag is better. I play in a dark room, but I don't like my display super bright. Still rocking a 2010 ln46c610 so I will probably be happy with either choice. Is game motion plus vastly improved since 2010?

It does BFI to remove ghosting with motion. Not recommended but works.

Interpolation isn't what you should play video games on.
full framerate is always great, but when consoles are limited to 30/60 fps, a good implementation does WONDERS
seriously, even VR headsets use this trick to make sure you dont miss frames
its magic, and on samsung tvs has very little downsides outside of "i prefer it to not look so smooth"
Playing pokemon on switch with this is night and day, very impressive stuff

Hey what are the best settings for a ps4 pro enhanced game like dark souls 3 which is supposed to run at 60fps but constantly dips to around 50fps. Should I turn judder and blur reduction to max??

@@brennooliveira7805 Well mine is 65 inch. Whatever, I only play single player games so auto motion plus works just fine :) Input lag isnt that much of a problem in single player games

Most def yes online or off. For 60fps games you WILL feel imput lag. Looks nicer on 30fps games if you don't mind the trail effect certain images leave mainly games with cursors u will see it.

Well I've been reviewing TVs, I like this one because of the gaming features and fast menu response, also picture quality is amazing, the sony x900f is also a great tv, it all comes down to preferences.
is there a noticeable difference in picture quality between the q6 fn 49 and 55 because of refresh rate?
