Thanks for posting these videos. Samsung does a terrible job at educating people who buy their TVs on how to actually use the features in them. When you actually understand how to use them, they are game changing and helps understand why it is claimed as one of the top gaming TVs out there. I don’t play a ton of competitive multiplayer so using game motion plus instead of 120 Hz and VRR is the way to go for me. I get the best image quality possible.

I play games with game motion plus ON in Game Mode in my seriesX always since I never activate judder and blurr (always keep them to 0 for 60 fps titles) and the input lag difference is inexistent but the games look so much better. It's crazy how nobody talks about how game motion plus it's amazing for 60 fps titles if you don't touch the judder and blurr. At least for me in my Q80B from Samsung makes the image so much better in game mode and I don't feel any input lag penalty, otherwise it runs smoother.

The only problem with Samsung Game Motion Plus is that is doesn't interpolate as near as good as regular Motion Interpolation. The reason it doesn't add much input lag its because it doesn't increase motion resolution by that much. Regular motion interpolation can increase motion resolution up to 1080 lines, and the last time I tested Game Motion Plus was on a Q7FN and it barely reached 450 lines. It feelt a little smoother than regular 30FPS, but not at all like regular motion Interpolation (the ones with 100+ ms input lag), look basically as the game is running at 120FPS. Unless they've changed the algorithm of Game Motion Plus, which I would be very interested to see. Let me know if someone tested Game Motion Plus vs Motion Interpolation outside game mode and did a comparison

Since I play mainly non-competitive singleplayer games, I never gave input lag much attention. But I start to struggle with the Game Sekiro. My old TV didn't had a game mode and I guese the input lag was around 80ms. The game was (at least for me) very difficult to play. So I connected the PS4 to my PC Monitor with a much lower response time and wow, it's like the difficulty of the game was set from hard to standard, just because of 50ms difference in input lag. Now I have the Q90t with 10ms input lag and I keep GMP for usual off always. Playing Ghostrunner with such an low input lag is incredible, I really feel the difference immediately when switching GMP on/off in this game. One of the plus-points of the 2020 Samsung QLED Lineup is the extremly low input lag of around 10ms and when you play fast-paced and difficult games like Celest, Ghostrunner or even Dark Souls / Sekiro you will get an advantage and you conquer challanges in this games more easily. I have Q95T European version since August 2020, using it primary for gaming. I'm not sure about other region tv sets, but game motion plus gaming (latest FW on my TV) does NOT even come close to what native 60fps games look like in motion. It's more like boosting 30fps to about 35 fps-ish maybe, not even 40fps (And I can see the same thing in this video, GMP on 30fps footage does not look like native 60fps at all, even though this video is uploaded with 60fps encoding, the GMP off 60fps footage also does not like 60fps capture, so not really a good demonstration, just open another YT video with Spiderman 60fps gameplay (Miles Morales VS Rhino PS5 60FPS) and scrub to the mall chase scene for comparison sake, however the Ghost of Tsushima footage looked like 60fps capture, strange inconsistencies). Nonetheless, If I switch off game mode and use regular tv mode and boost picture clarity settings for judder to 10, then I'm really getting 60fps like smoothness. In direct mode comparison, the game motion plus judder settings 10/10 is equivalent to about 5/10 for judder settings outside game mode, huge difference in smoothness, but with added crazy amount of latency and interpolation artefacts making it a horrible gaming experience. I just don't really know why people are saying that the game motion plus is like 60fps gaming, when clearly Samsung is avoiding using too much interpolation to avoid artefacting and latency increase, which results in a very little boost to the perceived frame rate. Again maybe it's just the European version of this tv or me or whatever. The other much worse thing with game motion plus, at least for my tv version, is that the picture looks dimmer with game motion plus enabled, noticeably dimmer, therefore I just don't bother using game motion plus, it's worse experience than regular game mode when using HDR, due to the dimmer picture. Overall, game motion plus, the SLIGHT boost to fps and smoothness is appreciable, the increased latency is not noticeable, but the dimmer picture makes it a no-go-feature for me. Your experience may differ.
    EDIT:
On my TV, Inverse ghosting is present in game mode as well as in game motion plus, however I see it rarely so does not bother me. No scrolling horizontal lines in either mode.

Thanks a lot for such detailed answer! I came to idea to change my TV to one of those Samsungs, because i like to play old 30fps games a lot... I heard that in latest models GMP not work AT ALL with 30 fps games, so i thought maybe the just nerfed that picture and perhaps older models work better and i should try to find second hand? But as more i read opinions, the more it seems that GMP is NOT EVEN CLOSE to the smoothness of the regular Motion Interpolation with a ton of input lag =( Am i right?
Just if try to think clearly it sounds like a REAL miracle: full and complete Motion Plus feature without input lag? So why other manufacturers don't do this at least on their top-tier TV's? =\ and i find it REALLY strange that there are almost NO direct comparison with 30 fps games showing this as-they-say REVOLUTIONARY feature... Weird...

@@zakkman yes I upgraded to 2021 NEO QLED, the game motion plus de-judder settings does nothing for 30fps, it's broken, you get 30fps no matter where you put the slider at. The only thing that works is smoothing which unfortunately works only if the game is already running at 60fps, then the fps is interpolated to 120fps to match the panel 120Hz. It looks smoother in motion and quick camera pans. But again 30fps is just30 fps. If that's what you're after then forget about 2021 models. The 2020 models at least felt like 35fps-ish with game motion plus and dejudder at max. However no matter what TV you choose 60fps like smoothnes for 30fps games is off the table. At least what I could see on my both Samsung European TV sets.

@@zakkman yes Slovakia, I think we don't have that technology yet, interpolated 60fps from 30fps is an artefacting-glitch fest and inconsistent with frequent frame drops, when the interpolation algorithm struggles to determine correct motion vectors and with massive input latency (film mode). That's why it's so heavily limited in 2020 models to just 35 fps to mitigate the glitches and drops and keep the latency down. Maybe a future AI based interpolation will be able to do it consistently and without artefacts.

Okay maybe someone can help me here lol I also have a Samsung 120hz tv and a ps5. When I play a game capped @60fps, the screen will start loosing frames or studder when i move the camera or look around in game. Any game does this in 60fps. ESPECIALLY First person titles. Ive turned on and off game mode and motion settings. Its jarring to my eyes and unfortunately cant even play some games I bought because im experiencing this. Whats going on?

Perhaps you could do a quick revisit of GMP with the qn90a and current 1904 firmware. Myself (and several users on AVS forums) can not get 30fps content to respond to 'judder' increase in settings and 60fps content looks only slightly better in response to increasing 'blur'. It appears that GMP on the qn90a is severely compromised with the current firmware? Appreciate your confirmation (or not)...

the best way to check it is just google "What is the frame rate for ____ game on ___ console" you should be able to get the answer if its 30 or 60 fps. Game motion set to 0 on all settings re-enables some processing without introducing motion interpolation.

This is a mockery. Second: there is always ghosting with GMP on, even if it is set to 1. And in 60fps and 30fps games. How can you play with such ghosting? Fuzzy cellphone, gun, figure. This is terrible. I checked 20 games and it's the same everywhere. Who needs it for? Thirdly: color banding in many games. In the sky, sometimes on the menu, etc., etc. :(:(:(:(
