Hey everyone I just rewatched this video and realized I made a huge mistake! These ARE NOT the 2nd generation pods. Xfinity sent me the 1st generation pods. The 2nd gen pods have venting around the body, it is also compatible with faster WiFi speeds and has two ethernet ports on the bottom. I’m getting these swapped out for the newer ones. Thanks for watching
PODS are not intended to INCREASE bandwidth, they are intended to EXTEND bandwidth. Most people get WORSE signals with the pods than without. They are more for decks, garages or areas that have almost no signal and get a little more. By spreading out the signal to multiple pods, it will decrease overall bandwidth.
Hey not sure when you got these but if you got them recently you might want to consider trying to exchange them for the new xfi pods version which has increased range and 500mbps max throughput. (The new ones have two ethernet ports on the bottom)
Did I see your garage outlet GFCI was tripped? Looking at mine they're green when the circuit is not broken. Yours was red. I may have different outlets though... also I'll look for an update! Thanks for the vid!
I have a single 2nd gen one, is it fine to use it for the LAN port at the bottom for an ethernet connection to a PC I have upstairs, or am I better off just having it on standard Wifi (router is downstairs)?
@alejandrosanchez7343 you can, and it is effective, but it is better to do a direct connection from your router to PC. Those are just my results though. Simple answer: it works and is better than using the Wi-Fi, but don't expect the same results as connecting ethernet directly to your PC
@@Korona_1 I appreciate the response I have my router in my living room and I’d like to move it to my room my motherboard is also non wifi so I have to have a wired connection what’s the best way of doing that?
Is the ping and latency the same as if i go wired with Xfinity modem? Or is it the same? I know the download speeds are a little lower like by 40-50 mbps with the pods (gen 2) and i noticed sometimes i can't get an app running smooth with these ... currently wired with ps5 but I feel like there's a little lag
Why in the world would you keep a router behind a warm TV. Enclosed. You we losing so much signal for the house. You probably didn’t even need the pods.
My wifi will slowly slow down after some time, and I need to restart the router to restore speed. Do you know how to solve this problem? I use the same setups in this video.
Mesh networks suck. Getting one deployed that actually works is a pain. Each repeater cuts bandwidth in half. If another repeats that it's cut again. Client devices get confused and don't connect to the fastest but only the strongest. Best way to fix all this, pull Cat5e and just run AP's in each area. Ubiquit is the best for this.
Best place is Xfinity customer service or Xfinity stores. Don’t buy off Amazon or anywhere else because they’re overpriced. And make sure they send you the newer model.
That's because nobody's being truthfully honest about this product. All the videos are the same, but nobody has ever posted a video explaining everything you need to know. That's why in the comment section when people ask questions, the person who uploads the video tells us to contact customer service. (They don't even know).

Bro you leaked your ip address 😳
Then make a new video...duh

what if ur deadzone is a bedroom ?
Not if you connect a Wi-Fi 6E router along with it.
That router is in the worst place a router can be at, between a concrete wall and a TV. That's killing your wifi speeds big time.
You are absolutely correct, that’s why I moved it later on.

How fast are the old pod?
200mbps max
Also, try a moca adapter. Coax cable to Ethernet adapter and plug into the bottom of ur pods.

Well, I’ve already ordered these things. How do you use the hardwire in them?

That’s exactly why I was looking to get them did you find out if you can use it as Ethernet port?
@alejandrosanchez7343 you can, and it is effective, but it is better to do a direct connection from your router to PC. Those are just my results though.

Had 2, one ran hot. So im not sure if i need any since my devices are all running through my gateway
How well will they work if you plug it in about 50 feet away outside in your garage

What about tablet , do i need to install the pod app on tablets too?
Can a Google Mesh system be combined with xFi pods in the same network, or do they need to be set up as two different WiFi networks?
I believe it would have to be separate.
Is the LAN port an IN or an OUT?
Do they only work with Comcast or do they work with other internet companies?
Comcast only, it takes you through setup through your Comcast account.
I’m getting one just so I can use Ethernet with my computer because my wifi adapter always disconnects mid game.
If it’s because you’re too far away from the router this should help.
Why in the world would you keep a router behind a warm TV. Enclosed. You we losing so much signal for the house. You probably didn’t even need the pods.
I’m having trouble getting good connection to my ring doorbell outside. Will something like work to get the signal outside?
Yes it can help.
Do you have this instruction in Spanish?
Are they on the same WiFi name or is it like a separate antenna
Same name, they connect through the Xfinity XFi app.
Do I have to plug it into a wall socket or can I plug it into an extension cord?
I would recommend a wall socket, though I’m not sure what would happen if you use an extension cord.

Try contacting customer service and see what they can do from their side.
I returned mine slow down the gateway speed
Made by Plume?
you kinda showed your ip address when you ran the speed test, not sure if thats a concern to you...
Never really thought of that. Thank you.
It's a public ip that the speed test is running on not his private IP so everything is fine.
@@xdegd1998 oh, my bad didn't know😅
You saved me $119. We're getting 200Mbs upstairs and looks the xfi pod won't increase that.
I ain't sold either. Lol.
Do you need a gateway to connect to
Yes

Why do u have your wifi in the corner like that 🤣
Thank you for your true fullness
Thanks for watching
Worth money if you live in a big house, for a townhouse or apartment not nessasary.
Yes you are correct, especially if it’s a two story house.
you may want to reupload the video with your ip address blocked. other than that great video. debating if i need them for my house.
UPDATE to your VIDEO: Xfinity told me tonight that ethernet connector has not been activated as of September 20, 2021.
All these videos not one addressed the Ethernet port and why direct connection yields no internet while the WiFi did see a bump in speed

They definitely work. I hooked up my Xbox to it and definitely got higher speeds because of it
Howd u do it
@@JR-vt5wv just plugged it in, opened Cox app, followed steps and boom
Still work good? I'm thinking of getting one but dont wanna waste 100 dollars
@@crensh_1357 you can test for a month, if its not to your liking you can return for a full refund
These pods suck! They connect about 30% of the time
hey ummm. You need to cover your IP address unless you want people to ddoss your internet into outer space
Stay away. They are not compatible with 3rd party Modem/Router.
