Excellent ,ive been looking info on doing this job i have one to do great video very helpful . Can you give me some info on how to know if its secured or unsecured and weather or not i would need to desolder the components or not? Thanks
1. Solder the wires according to the unsecured diagram. 2. Read chip lock status. 3. If unsecured read directly - if secured desolder the two components and modify your wiring to read.

Those little glass oscillators look a pain to solder back on,they're so smal,need a really steady hand.Do they have to be soldered on in a certain direction/orientation.?
Das security byte sezt autel automatisch? Mit vvdi prog muss mann es selbst setzen. Hab vor kurzen nen 2017 range Sport gemacht. Ging gut. Aber auch mit diesen 2 Teilen auslöten. Acdp kann es mit adapter ohne löten
Ja Autel macht es automaisch. Kein "set security". Diese Adapter zum lötfreien Arbeiten sind eine gute Sache. Hatte aber auch schon Schwierigkeiten damit.
So with vvdi prog you’ve to unlock the chip before reading and lock after writhing?

why did you dismantle the quartz and the capacitor? You couldn't know at the beginning which processor, protected or not?
Hi. I followed the wiring diagram and it tells clearly to remove it. Then read the chip status in order to know how to read ( secured or unsecured )
In secured MCUs that's the quartz frequency is unknown to get communication to the chip, and this is the reason to remove them and then programmator emulating frequency ranges to find right one and get connected to it.

Hi. yes it is much easier without soldering. Some tools can do today by OBD. I think it will be possible by OBD soon with many tools.
Today i checked Obdstar writes that support but i didnt want to risk...No videouz in youtube so that didnt happend :) Removed kvm and read on bech for my luck mcu mc9s12xeq384cal was locked .Job done with vvdi2 and vvdiprog conections are the same.And have to remove same 2 components.
Is it possible to do the same procedure with launch tools
Hi. I don't know the launch tools. I thought they where only for diagnostic. Not for key programming.

Hi 10th digit “ E “ safe obd?
What do you mean ? 10th digit VIN ? Try by OBD and Autel will tell you if you have to remove the unit and program by "start key writing" function.

Some keys are unlocked and the tools sometimes reads them as locked. But It should work
