If you're a locksmith, then you know that doing all keys lost scenarios on European vehicles is a huge obstacle .In this case study, I will show you how to do an All Keys Lost on Audi A4 2015 with the help of the AUTEL IM608 PRO. The biggest concern I have with European vehicles is finding out what tools I need for the job and the process. Yes I have the IM608 but besides the Autel support that tells me what I can do, that list doesn’t tell me required tools for the job or module locations. When you have a customer on the phone, it’s easier to say no because there’s so much unknown.

I recently got called for a 2016 Audi A5 and followed these steps but it never read the data or vehicle information. I think my soldering wasn't the best or maybe the power supply I tried to use wasn't good. However I'm not giving up, I recently did a 2014 328i with the FEM system and it took me several hours but I ended up with 350 USD in my pocket and a happy customer👍🏼
And you learn how to do it so next time it will be easier and good profit

@@gersonrendon2188 Yes sometimes you will be dearer than the dealership or a competitor but never sell yourself short, cover your time and investment as a professional sell great service and you will make more money.
There's a lot of complexity to the base systems the European vehicles tend to have. You can also run into having people who bought them from a scrap wreckers with unknown history or maybe they had the car go bust so they brought it to a shop. Expensive to work on, expensive to maintain, expensive if you mess up anything. It's a balance of risk/reward. These videos certainly help install confidence though.

My concern is how to find the location of the BCM, I'm talking about other vehicles. I come from very far away and I only speak French, luckily we have the technology to do the translation. Idk Curtis last time i spoke to autel they said all Volkswagen group vehicles were behaving really off and to basically not even bother with audi. Is this bench method still good?
Hi This is not possible with VAG GROUP cars in the UK we are still blocked from doing CS calculations on server . Its a shame that I bought the tool and 6 months later we were not able to carry out key programming for vag group cars after 2013 . Have autel managed to figure out a way to implement CS bite calculations for the uk market again ? I heard Autel did so for the US market after the initial server block but not the UK ? Any information would be greatily received .
What type of diodes should I buy? On eBay there few versions

Can we do same procedure with autel 508 + gbox+400pro?
I have the case of a 2013 Audi A8L. It bears an encrypted BCM 2, but the BCM don’t looks covered in the list offered by In508. What can I do? What is the value of the resistor to be used for reading the BCM by programmer?
How could someone know what IMMO type each car has? i.e IMMO1, IMMO2 etc, etc. Does this has to do with the year of manufacture of each car?
What are we even supposed to charge a customer when akl. In my area bmw, Audi, merc, and Volvo charge $250-350 for new key. Just doesn’t seem like it’s worth it.
We are charging 425.00 to do a akl at our shop. 575. Out in the field. People who want to go to the dealer won’t call you anyway
@@tomking3942I second that. Having had to spend time learning all this. I don't quote low to do it. To much of a risk. I don't count my no call backs ever on these.
I find they call me months later anyways after having shopped around and even blowing some money to have it done "cheaper"

Curtis, this was most informative. My issue is not so much the soldering, but knowing the locations of BCMs, ECUs, etc, on euro-cars... and now some of the newer US and Asia models. Is there a good source that provides the locations of these boxes, so I know where to go to pull them for the bench work? Is there a recommended set of diodes for the Autel to work with?

@@mrdman094081nissan note. Im608 pro tries but cant add key. Km100 said must use new key. Fault code found says key not read or faulty. Nissan tsb said fault linked to coil must replace whole ignition. Nearly got me. Very nearly believed the bullshit. Used a total different machine from America. Coded original key back in within 40 seconds and no bullshit involved too.
Will it help me get more slot keys for a 2010 VW Passat work? I have only one working key. Would to get at least the remote part of the others to work.

Yes, correct. Remember after 2013 the BCM2 are encrypted. Thats why you can do it via obd after this year. You have to do it on the bench. Hope this makes sense

I have been trying desperately to program a key to a 2012 Audi A7 and the are no keys programmed to the vehicle currently. Comfort Access, using an im508 and xp400. The videos I've seen don't mention having to jump wires when all keys lost. Why does it require me to have a key when it's all keys lost? It won't allow me to make a dealer key without it.

God this looks like a great way to brick the J393. A bunch of messing around, a subscription to ODIS makes way more sense than this dog and pony show.

I'm still being a little messed up about those encrypted and unencrypted versions of bcm2. The thing is I happened to program an A6 2016my via obd and everything was perfect! The keys worked fine. But now you tell me that it is impossible with cars after 2013...
How come?
I belive because this was all keys lost situation bcm2 needed to go on bench,if its just add the key,tou can do it by obd.

I dont know for sure . What I usually do when a client books a consult with me is get the vin year make and model and I will send it to my engineer. He will tell me the limitations or if the tool can do it. If it cant there is a safer way to do via obd with a laptop. You should ask your supplier to do the same to give you an answer

I Was trying to add spare key , with im508 , XP400 pro, but for some reason it removed existing key instead. Now I can’t connect & read data from car because I can’t switch on (ignition on).

Due to being keyless, ignition doesn’t switch on , and I can’t retrieve immo data. There isn’t even option listed for Audi A1 24c64 instrument cluster /key writing etc.

Hey brother so I been a locksmith for almost 5 years and I am 20 years old I started it at 15 I do regular cars but I’m too scared to touch European cars such as wv BMW Mercedes Audi and all the high-end cars because here nobody does these cars there’s only one company that does them and everybody saying it’s too hard it’s too hard you can mess up and I really can’t find a on person trining school as well I am not that good with learning online that is my fear going out there and messing up a customers vehicle what should I do ??

J2534 not needed, I’m 508 is very capable machine especially if you add xp400 pro

Same here. It’s always a risk when u desolder chips. Most I know that do it keep certain chips in stock in case a chip is fried

Im watching just out of need to rekey my porsche but i can tell you that there is not one lock smith at all in my erea that will touch my car so i have decided to educate myself and do it on my own .i may be wrong but from what i can gather you take the eprom and dump it so u can get whatever information you can , save that then clear it so you can rewrite it to your car .

You said needed tool, was IM608 PRO, but you also told that customer had the IM608, so maybe you could telling what the minimum requirements of tool is.

This has been happening in my area. The same guy has bricked 4 Audi cars. Two where just full prox and he had no sync data (easy fix with a different tool) and two he bricked, I had to go behind him and fix the car with ODIS. PLEASE understand what is happening here and do not try this unless you know someone to fix a mistake. The guy I’m my area is damaging car because of lake of skills and knowledge (also bricked Audi RB8 dash obd with 608 and a FEM with 608) I’m not saying this video can help you but just understand that the risk is real. Do not be a disservice to the customer because you do not know what you are doing.
That's crazy, do you get enough audi/vag cars to justify the price of ODIS? Last time i checked audi license was $750 a year and the toughbook unit was $7,000. I get 1 audi key job a year lol so i don't even bother.

Did the tech do something wrong attempting to add a key?, or is simply adding a key to Audis a crapshoot?
HI Brian. From all the consultations I get with people who are working with audi's Its a combination of both. Sometimes the Audi system resets all the keys for what ever reason. Sometimes the tech click the wrong button and erases the keys.

The xp400 updated halfway through... but that's another thing that pisses me off about the machine😮

Autel is Lacking Coverage For Audi like the A3 no Coverage past 2013 that should be mentioned on a tool this expensive with yearly fees..... so please people do your own research before buying something to find out you can't do it....... look for other brands and compare them.........

How do you sell the customer when the bcm may have been screwed already by the previous tech ?
Thats a difficult one. You have be able to prove that you didnt screw up the BCM. What I would do is scan the vehicle and save the diagnostic report right when you get the vehicle. This way you can see all the existing faults that where in the car when it arrived to you. After you save the initial report .. Then erase all the error codes . Then if any fault codes come up again.. then you know that those modules have an underlining condition. Then tell the customer that in order to do this procedure you need to fix the ( BCM) first.. If you dont then you wont be able to do the procedure.

Yes, you just need the xp400 programmer. The you can do any key coding that the im608 pro can do

@@craigbentley911 It took my client 2 days. When he tried to add the key via obd all the keys were erased. Then when I logged in his device I told him we have to do it on the bench. He took the module home and purchased the jumper wire/ diodes and performed the first part of procedure on the bench. Then he finished second procedure the next day. I think if your starting off and are new to this procedure it could take 1 in a half hours. If our experienced less than an hour.
Waste of time. Everyone I have seen done never worked correctly. 2 days to make 100 bucks I will pass.

$1,000 between these bloats. So I dove in found a bunch of tools and services. But I wasnt satisfied. Found videos on another scan toll that did that job. And it has paid for itself in a few jobs.
Ive ran into a few vehicles that it doesnt support, and thats what brings me here..... again 😅.

Hey my friend. The way I can give you certainty is by consulting you properly with my diagnostic tool consultation service. This way I can get the vin and run my framework to give you the tool that will do the job and explain the limitations. What you can try to do is contact your supplier as they should they should be capable of knowing what the tool they sold you can and cant do.
