Thanks for a great video; your presentations are absolutely brillant, simple, clear and concise as well as informative; Im glad i came accross this. I actually performed this task upon brainstorming about the logical ways i could implement it. Your process is absolutely smoother. I did it all manually in the immo section of the tool. Since i was at the vehicle at first, I read engine ECU data as well as coding data and saved both of them. Then home office bench set up to renew the module just like you did. Next, i wrote the engine EXU data previously saved by obd Then wrote the VIN Then wrote the coding Then personalized the ECU; this is basically the transfer of antitheft data including key number and ID from the original to the donor Activation is not allowed on bench and must be done by obd so i did. After that i went into diagnostic to check the DAS. All 4 requirements were YES, TP detached, start enable & the first 2 that i cant recall. For me the module was ready to rock n roll; it did not start because the vehicle had a preexisting condition that supposedly blew the original ECU per an alledged electrician say. I believe either, the original ECU was misdiagnosed and wrongly accused of being bad, or the causes of the ECU becoming bad, if it is, is still present as evident by 2 low voltage active dtcs. The client refused to pay for my service; i just told him to have a more competent electrician perform a disgnostic because i knew i made the donor ECU as identical as the original including the number of keys and their key id.
another thing to remember is that for item number 3 there is a difference between right and write:) but seriously this is the best video I’ve watched about reprogramming a mercedes ECU yet. I noticed another person had commented about asking if they needed the original ECU for information. He brought up a good point because every online service I see that offers to clone your original ECU to new donor ECU requires both ECU’s to be sent and if the original ECU was damaged and cant be read you’re required to send the EIS and your key with your donor ECU. Can you please clarify whether or not you need to read any information from the original ECU and then transfer it to the donor ECU or is it just like the video shows and all you need to do is insert the Vin number? 17:25

In case the DME / ECU job is for 2013- / newer Merc models, can IM608 help? If not what other tools can help for such scenarios? Can the IM608 perform the teach in procedures for newer model Mercs?

I have a MK906 pro (Subscription expired) hat I tried to code out rear o2 sensors on a CLS55 (off road vehicle) and found myself with ESP issues and lack of communication with modules. My question is, is there any way to correct this easily with the tool? Maybe do the teach in process to correct it? I reverted the settings however the issue still remains. Hey Filex, Justa purchasing tip. If you don't need any training or support you can purchase any ware online. If want training and support I can sell the tool to you directly. Im just giving you this option because alot of people get inspired to by this tool , but then after they buy it the get stuck or they are afraid to do the procedure. If they would have got consulted first and then I sell them the tool i would be able to help them out that situation.

I had to replace the ECU in my e-Class recently and came across this issue of not being able to fit a 'used' ECU from another car. I would be interested to know what people should be charging for virginising Mercedes ECUs so they can be used again? I solved the problem by moving the eeprom from my old ECU to the new one. I de-soldered the immobiliser chip and physically moved it into the replacement ECU. Worked fine.

I used this IM608 for 2 years ,using these Benz function numerous times and till now …..you guys comes up with this tutorial… I reckon Autel Tutors really need to keep up the pace of releasing new contents regarding to those new updates. Just for clarification, I dont work for Autel.( Im private) This is a sample of what I provide to my clients but I wanted to share this with the community as they are not able to get this level of training from Autel .
A lot of customers like to bargain on Japanese and some domestics cars and I don't good business. I have im508 and xp400pro. Trying looking into specializing in European cars, not easy, but slowly learning.
You should get a mentor. This way I shorten your learning curve and you will get the information you need quicker. Otherwise it will take longer to learn and you might be less confident to take on certain jobs.
Great presentation as always . I see the J2534 is required for this operation . Will other non-autel J2534 devices work as substitute in process? and if its only the Autel J2534 that works , will it work with the IM508 ?

Hi Scott. I hope your doing well. The ultra doesnt have the Im608 immo functions. You would need to use the im508 and G-box to do the renew process of the ECU and the Write Vin. Then you can use the Ultras do the teach in authorization procedure .

Yes you would need access to complete the job. They would have to clear the ecu for you and send it back. That’s when you have to do the drivers authorization yourself with a scan tool

The im508 is for people who already have a good diagnostic scanner and just need key coding capabilities. The im508 has a basic level of diagnostic software on it . The Im608 Pro is for people who want diagnostic capabilities, j2534 flash programming capabilities and locksmith level key coding capabilities.
Ihave done this with my IM608 pro . the ECU worked in the car but it got a lot of communication issues ,ABS/ESB is inoperative light is on. i couldn't do online programming as the scn coding fails after the programming is done on my tool . any idea?
I don't mind so much paying MB for the new ECM or module, whatever I may need. I just refuse to let the crooks in the service dept. touch anything I own ever again. NOT just MB either, any dealer, as I've yet to find an honest dealership.

Got a question I have a autel maxicom mk908 pro and want to virginize and code a 08 mercades cl550 I want to know if it’s even possible I saw you do it with the im608 but my tool is having a problem with the program log and said it sent it to autel but the tech support lady is clueless and can’t even answer my question thanks
question, can you reset or virginlize a Mercedes Benz 2005 SLK 350? I was told by a shop it can't be done and that I need to buy a new one for $1,000.00. I think it can be done because why would it work on an S Class and not the SLK Class?
Usually what I do for my prospective clients is when I talk with them in my consultations what I will do is find out the VIN and ECU information to get a 100 percent answer. If you dont want to book a consultation you can try asking the supplier who you want to purchase from and see if they can give you that information before you buy.

Hello Curtis. This is Kelvin. I recently swapped out an engine and transmission in my 2008 clk 550. Initially, it wouldn’t start but after placing the old ecu on the replaced engine, the vehicle cranked. Unfortunately, it will not move. Is it as simple as programming the ecu that came with the swapped engine or do I need to have the replaced transmission programmed all together? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@@AutelConsultancy when I said, "I recently swapped," I didn't mean I did it. A friend of mine who is a mechanic performed the swap. He does not work on Mercedes and this part has been a challenge. I'll have to ask him about the scan tools and accessories he has. Should I ask him about some specific tools?
If its a used one your tool doesnt have the capability to virginize the module. If its a new one then you should be able to program it. Send your supplier the VIN number to make sure you can program year vehicle. This is what I do for my client just to make sure their tool can program the module.
I just get the new IM608 Pro II but when I try to writing the VIN for 07 S550 and the said this unit does not support writing VIN.... ? cold you help. please
Did you check with your supplier first? I can help you but I charge for customers who I didnt sell to. Im not even sure if the function is available. Maybe give your supplier the VIN and see if they have access to the engineer to verify the function . This is what I recommend my clients before they attempt a procedure.

Does anyone in the Dallas -Ft. Worth area have this devise? The Dealer told me my car, 2004 ML350, can not be fixed. The AAM went out and is now obsolete. HI Marvin, I charge for this information as it takes about an hour to diagnose and educate the client about the everything they should know . The problem of self diagnosing your self is that most of the problems/limitations of the tool your only going to find out after you purchase. Also you have the challenge of verifying if your tool is going to be a usa model or an international model. You also are not going to have a solution to reduce our update fees . You lso need to consider the year this tool was made as maybe there is a replacement for it. Buying a diagnostic tool is like getting married... You dont want to get it wrong the first time as you might have alot of extra baggage. If its worth it to you , you should get consulted first in my opinion.

When you sat program. Do you mean when you replace a module with a brand new one and you need to install the software calibration file into the new module?
If you have the Im508 and j2534 you will wont be able reprogram the Mercedes benz because the im508 has a basic level of diagnostic software and it doesnt have access to online servers.

What the difference between the IM608 and the IM508?
The im508 is for people who already have a good diagnostic scanner and just need key coding capabilities. The im508 has a basic level of diagnostic software on it . The Im608 Pro is for people who want diagnostic capabilities, j2534 flash programming capabilities and locksmith level key coding capabilities.
Ihave done this with my IM608 pro . the ECU worked in the car but it got a lot of communication issues ,ABS/ESB is inoperative light is on. i couldn't do online programming as the scn coding fails after the programming is done on my tool . any idea?
I don't mind so much paying MB for the new ECM or module, whatever I may need. I just refuse to let the crooks in the service dept. touch anything I own ever again. NOT just MB either, any dealer, as I've yet to find an honest dealership.

question, can you reset or virginlize a Mercedes Benz 2005 SLK 350? I was told by a shop it can't be done and that I need to buy a new one for $1,000.00. I think it can be done because why would it work on an S Class and not the SLK Class?
Usually what I do for my prospective clients is when I talk with them in my consultations what I will do is find out the VIN and ECU information to get a 100 percent answer. If you dont want to book a consultation you can try asking the supplier who you want to purchase from and see if they can give you that information before you buy.

Yes it will. The Im508 with the xp400 Pro will give you the same key coding coverage as the IM608 PRO

Hello Curtis. This is Kelvin. I recently swapped out an engine and transmission in my 2008 clk 550. Initially, it wouldn’t start but after placing the old ecu on the replaced engine, the vehicle cranked. Unfortunately, it will not move. Is it as simple as programming the ecu that came with the swapped engine or do I need to have the replaced transmission programmed all together? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

@@AutelConsultancy when I said, "I recently swapped," I didn't mean I did it. A friend of mine who is a mechanic performed the swap. He does not work on Mercedes and this part has been a challenge. I'll have to ask him about the scan tools and accessories he has. Should I ask him about some specific tools?

If its a used one your tool doesnt have the capability to virginize the module. If its a new one then you should be able to program it. Send your supplier the VIN number to make sure you can program year vehicle. This is what I do for my client just to make sure their tool can program the module.

Did you check with your supplier first? I can help you but I charge for customers who I didnt sell to. Im not even sure if the function is available. Maybe give your supplier the VIN and see if they have access to the engineer to verify the function . This is what I recommend my clients before they attempt a procedure.

Does anyone in the Dallas -Ft. Worth area have this devise? The Dealer told me my car, 2004 ML350, can not be fixed. The AAM went out and is now obsolete. HI Marvin, I charge for this information as it takes about an hour to diagnose and educate the client about the everything they should know . The problem of self diagnosing your self is that most of the problems/limitations of the tool your only going to find out after you purchase. Also you have the challenge of verifying if your tool is going to be a usa model or an international model. You also are not going to have a solution to reduce our update fees . You lso need to consider the year this tool was made as maybe there is a replacement for it. Buying a diagnostic tool is like getting married... You dont want to get it wrong the first time as you might have alot of extra baggage. If its worth it to you , you should get consulted first in my opinion.

If you have the Im508 and j2534 you will wont be able reprogram the Mercedes benz because the im508 has a basic level of diagnostic software and it doesnt have access to online servers.
